Hedge End Golf Centre: Opinions
Negative experience: Poor quality balls, poor quality mats. Not good value at all. £14pound for 100 balls.
Positive experience: Lovely range, however the prices here must of doubled over the last year. 14 pounds for 100 balls is just insane. £7.50 for 25 balls is even more insane. To put into perspective you can get 100 balls at Chilworth for £7.50. It’s a shame as this is the local range for me, but coming here just isn’t feasible anymore.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant range… getting a bit pricey but really good range. Best around here!
Negative experience: Rude staff. I’ve never experienced someone so rude and i’m not one to leave negative reviews!
Positive experience: It's OK the ground ain't great
Negative experience: Rude staff, saw a manager bullying someone from mighty adventures. Clear jealousy as their mini golf has failed while the dinosaur golf gets more and more popular. Will ensure people know not to use this driving range.
Fantastic experience: Well for my first time at the driving range, I thought it was a lot of fun! My guy took me for a few hours doing something new (for me). Good value 100 balls each. I’m a little disappointed that you can’t hire ‘drivers’ at a ‘Driving Range’. But I did get helpful hints from the very friendly bar staff, thank you! Anyway, next time I’ll bring my own driver (now on order) :) Weather went from torrential rain to sun. But hey, that’s ok when you’re under cover! Lots of free parking. I door and outside crazy golf too! Pool tables, darts and 2 bars! Great few hours out. Looking forward to going back.
Fantastic experience: Today I took my son to do the crazy golf which was really fun. We then ventured into the new indoor golf facility to have a look and the young lad in there was incredibly friendly and helpful. We will definitely try that out soon. We had a look at the sports bar upstairs and got chatting to Jordan behind the bar and decided because he was so helpful, to have a go on the driving range. We got 100 balls and hired 2 golf clubs but Jordan actually lent us his own driver as we were struggling a bit! He was above and beyond and definitely should get the recognition he deserves as my son had such a fun time and we will definitely return asap!!
Negative experience: Awful parking, lines are to long. Staff are unexperienced and not friendly. Will not come back.
Negative experience: Rude manager, treats Mighty Adventures customers badly. Clearly trying to damage their revenue by not allowing them to have a sign on their door. When I arrived for mini golf they tried to tempt me to use their one. £11 for 11 holes - No thank you!
Positive experience: Great facility but I always find the staff a bit miserable. Never a warm welcome.
Negative experience: Lots of debris on the course very poor the staff need to clear the leaves and sticks off.
Positive experience: Driving range with clever computer stuff and a bar
Fantastic experience: The general experience was average, but the 5 stars are due to exceptional service of Emily B and Helen in the upstairs bar
Fantastic experience: Reasonably priced driving range. You can bring your own clubs or hire. Perfect for beginners.
Positive experience: Reasonable prices and can always find a bay
Negative experience: Shocking range. Balls are years old, Matt’s slip all over the place that you could hurt yourself. Asked for a refund because of the poor facilities you get shut down, flat no. Wouldn’t go to find out how bad it is.
Fantastic experience: 1st time there for a birthday party, very entertaining. Especially when everyone gets a hole in one
Positive experience: Great staff. Does the job.
Fantastic experience: Fun driving range with tracker. We got 200 balls between 6 of us, and it lasted about 1.5hrs. It was a fun outside activity to do with family and friends.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and fantastic equipment
Fantastic experience: I love playing crazy golf here! Fantastic course.
Negative experience: Balls are 5 years old Not enough greens Lady at reception needs to retire I have seen happier people on death row. Not worth £13.50 for 100 balls but there is no where else local to go
Fantastic experience: Impressive set up. Friendly staff. Easy access from the M27.
Thank you for your comments.
Fantastic experience: Nice family place ⛳️
Positive experience: It’s good value if you bring your own clubs, and worth knowing they won’t provide any drivers. The ball tracking system isn’t particularly accurate, more for a bit of fun. My only real criticism was I felt staff member who served us at reception wasn’t enjoying her work, nor was she trying to bring her best self.
Fantastic experience: Easy access from the M27 or main roads. Friendly staff with a decent range of drinks. 2 levels with numerous bays so no waiting and plenty of parking (avoid the potholes on the way in Dec 2023). Toilet facilities are well maintained and clean. The addition of the top tracer shot tracking and app link in, make it a superior driving range experience. Can be a bit cold as it faces west into the prevailing wind. Tees are not auto loading but high, low and artificial grass are all there and in good condition.
Negative experience: Don't accept cash, card only! Can't comprehend what would happen if the internet went down & seem to be completely oblivious to the fact they can't refuse cash as it's legal tender! No signs outside anywhere to say it card only either.AVOID like the plague
Positive experience: Nice range with the protracer. Nice coffee too....was a little expensive for balls and drink but a nice setting and ra.ge of targets etc.
Positive experience: Nice functional driving range with decent technology
Positive experience: Nice modern driving range with a cool dinosaur themed crazy golf. Could do with being made bigger due to how busy it is in the evenings
Positive experience: Happy to take your money but don’t really want you on site
Fantastic experience: Great driving range with the added advantage of ball tracer and plenty of options/games within this plus good food and drink. I certainly notice more families and couples playing for fun. Really friendly team. Oh and you have the dinosaur adventure golf opposite win win.
Thank you for your lovely comments
Fantastic experience: Very nice range and excellent staff
Positive experience: Really nice facility but £3 to hire each club is a bit excessive in my view
Fantastic experience: Done mini golf with the kids. We all had fun went to the cafe after had a drink very reasonably priced
Fantastic experience: Nice range with ball tracking and compensation factored in. I just wish my seeing was up to par
Fantastic experience: Great fun nice and calm with great prices
Fantastic experience: just had a new shaft fitted to one of my clubs by Dave, brilliant service, good price and a very friendly helpful service
Fantastic experience: Service with a smile up here! Delivery to your booth for drinks too, great touch. Simple things go along way. Will keep returning, thank you guys!
Fantastic experience: Visited here today with my Son, Nephew & Sister. We had such a warm welcome from both Chaps at the welcome desk. Boys loved it. Would also recommend ice-cream the guys serve here too. Beautiful creamy ice cream with sauce & flake served with great service and lovely humour too. Thank you for being so lovely. We will be back! Carmel Sauce & two flakes was delicious
Fantastic experience: Great place very friendly and helpful staff abd get environment and my 6 year old nephew loves coming and practicing on the driving range and also loves the mini golf
Fantastic experience: Loved the mini golf good price helpful staff
Positive experience: Great driving range with two floors of bays. Can get busy at peak times but the wait for a bay at these times is normally only 5-10 minutes. The top tracer system is great to analyse your swing and the go fish game is a good way to get young kids playing golf and keeping them interested
Positive experience: Expensive! Mini (crazy) golf for 1 adult and a 9 yr old was £18.50! I hadn't booked so had to wait 40 mins. Even then, there were large queues at every hole. Not good for impatient youngsters and stressful when you're actually playing because you know there are people waiting for you to finish!! IF it hadn't been busy, the course would have been enjoyable with all the fantastic dinosaurs and scenery.
Fantastic experience: Great Driving range, clubs available to hire. Clean&tidy, selection of drinks available and friendly staff
Negative experience: Would recommend to avoid, mainly due to the attitude of the staff members here, mainly the older male with glasses and cap, he should take a close look at the young lad there and try to copy the way he conducts himself because he is leaps and bounds above him. I’d rather now use chilworth range without top tracer or take the short trip to Winchester golf academy, it’s worth the drive and everything about the place is much more welcoming. Great shame as I’ve been using this range for years but the guy’s attitude has finally done it for me. Retraining or losing him would be a massive improvement
Fantastic experience: Relaxed and helpful staff. Found the relatively new Toptracer App fun to use, though a little confusing. I'm sure we will fathom it all out eventually.
Fantastic experience: Visit once a week, I love the ball tracking technology.
Fantastic experience: Rarely play any form of golf but going with a friend and playing a virtual round when we're both pretty bad at it has proven to be one of the most hilarious and compelling evenings I've spent in a long time.
Positive experience: Great range with Toptracer, the range balls are only thing to let it down.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant top tracer range with friendly staff
Fantastic experience: We got rain off the course we were going to play, had a 4 ball in one bay, couple of beers all good fun, it’s like golf with out the buggy’s. Great set up highly recommended
Fantastic experience: Great fun for beginners and serious golfers with very friendly staff
Positive experience: Great range and facilities, the stuff were good and knowledgeable plenty of Bays although it was busy in Saturday managed to get Bays, the beers are reasonably priced aswell I would recommend and would go back again
Fantastic experience: A good fun course, some tricky holes without being too difficult for kids. Very enjoyable.
Positive experience: Great driving range with plenty of bay, top tracer and now they serve beer :)
Fantastic experience: I just wanted to put a big shout out for David Ings at Hedge End Golf Centre for his friendly, expedient and 1st class service in taking care of the repairs and regripping of my golf clubs. David certainly knows his and I can strongly recommend him for all of your golf club servicing needs, replacement shafts and regripping etc. You will also be very surprised at Dave's "more than reasonable" prices which surprised me. I was expecting to pay more than I was asked for so thank you Dave for providing such a great "value for money" service. Much appreciated !!!
Fantastic experience: FANTASTIC facilities, ball tracking computer system great fun and helpful, crazy golf looks great fun, all and all thumbs up definitely worth another visit
Negative experience: Staff there very unfriendly, would not let my 2 year old daughter use he toilet for a tissue when we visited the crazy dinosaur golf
Fantastic experience: Great place to sharpen up your swing and grab a drink.
Fantastic experience: Great fun for everyone Very good to practic your golf shots if you're a keen golfer
Fantastic experience: Great fun on the crazy golf course with my grand son
Fantastic experience: Best driving range in the area. Not that bothered about the Top Tracer stuff but I can see how some would benefit. Great layout, good balls, affordable and has lots of bays so never full.
Fantastic experience: Great two teer driving range and has a ball tracker to let you know how your game is going.
Fantastic experience: Nice range with extra ball tracking makes it so much more fun and also aids the concentration
Fantastic experience: Good driving range with the top tracer system. Be warned it is very busy on a Wednesday and Thursday night
Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities. Gym is top notch and has quality branded machinery.
Fantastic experience: Excellent, two-storey driving range with a variety of targets, and a tv screen in each booth that shows the ball tracking and also allows for a variety of virtual reality golf games. £7 for 50 balls, £11 for 100 balls. Impressive adventure (mini) golf on site. Drinks including alcohol served on site. Gym on site. Well located 1min off M27.
Negative experience: The driving range is nice, we had fun. We bought a coffee and had something to eat in the cafe … BUT as we went to leave, we tried to use the toilets and were stopped by someone who was incredibly rude and said to us “are you here for mini golf” and we said yeah maybe, as we were going to play afterwards and his response was “well the toilets are at the end of the car park” and we then had to say sorry we’ve just been on the range on used your cafe … and then we were allowed to use the toilets. It’s laughable really because both mens and females toilets were disgusting. Maybe clean the toilets properly before you question your customers.
Positive experience: They've recently added some computers to track shots which are brilliant, really make a session more interesting. TopGolf is the benchmark for "fun" driving ranges and this place is slowly but surely getting there.
Negative experience: Terrible. Went there with the family. I needed the toilet whilst in the cafe .wasn't allowed to use the one in side . Which was nice .. I was sent out down the car park to the portaloo.. in the rain . It was disgusting needs to reported to health and safety. The pan hadn't been flushed for hours . Flies . No loo paper smelly. Disgusting is being nice . After paying for games of golf and using the cafe .. rip off .
Positive experience: New golf screens and coffee bar. Looks good new benches outside to sit and watch your pal slice shots.
Fantastic experience: My husband took me. And I really enjoyed
Positive experience: Fair prices for the driving range with great technology to help everyone. Except me..
Positive experience: Good facilities with Toptracer tracking/game facility. Fun for all ages and abilities. Has an associated app for those looking to track their stats. Loyalty card means you can get discounted price on range balls.
Thank you for your review ✅✅✅
Fantastic experience: Cool place for a day out
Precisely
Positive experience: I've been down here many times before and probably would come again; it has a proper golf place and also the adventure golf is good!
A family day out
Fantastic experience: Good facilities, Top Tracer is a great bonus
Fantastic experience: Great place for practicing your golf, especially when you can't get out on the course... A 2 tiered facility so room for everyone. Hot and cold drinks and snacks available too. Great welcoming staff. And for the little ones there is crazy golf with a Dinosaur theme, they will love it !! Plenty of parking spaces, and right next to M27 motorway at Hedge End, so it's easy to find..
Fantastic experience: Great fun. Takes about an hour so worth a go. Cool dinosaurs
Negative experience: Be careful, only buy range balls you are able to use that visit. Paid for two buckets with a friend but got called away. Could not save the ticket or get a refund. Gave it away rather than waste it. Not a good experience.
Fantastic experience: Great place to relax and hit the ranges. Fairly priced, nice quality range with toptracer. Will go again when I'm around the area.
Positive experience: I would say definitely book online before hand to avoid disappointment. Although the electrics are still not working which is disappointing the prices are reduced. We still had fun.
Positive experience: Needs a bit of maintenance but good fun.
Fantastic experience: Great place to let off steam
Positive experience: Much better now they've had top tracer installed in the bays.
Fantastic experience: Loved it. Plenty of bays and the interactive golf system is awesome! Well worth a visit.
Fantastic experience: This is a brilliant driving range, new toptracer is great would recommend downloading the app to your phone. Beers can be bought at counter as well. Cant go wrong.
Fantastic experience: Great Service
Negative experience: Driving range staff are rude an extremely unhelpful. I attended yesterday with my 5 year old son who has autism. We were there for the crazy golf, which I understand are two separate companies but on the same premises. I walked in to ask to use the toilets an there response was “portaloo’s are outside for crazy golf” which I had no problem with, so we went to use these but as soon as I saw the state of them I was definitely not taking my child in them. Again I know this technically isn’t the driving range’s issue, but my son was desperate for the toilet and he extremely struggles with toilet training with his autism so being in an environment like that would be a massive problem. I notified the crazy golf staff an they was getting this sorted but my son needed to go then an there. I walked back in an asked again as we didn’t have time to waste and explained the situation. They then said “it’s company policy and it’s not our issue” I then explained about my son’s condition…….which I feel shouldn’t be a factor and I don’t like making it an issue. An yet they still flat out refused. I then asked the cafe staff if I bought something from there can he use the toilet, they also said it’s down to the driving range staff. As I went to use the toilet as my son couldn’t wait any longer they actually got the key an locked the door in front of us so my son couldn’t enter to go to the toilet. I have never been so annoyed and disgusted with a company.
Fantastic experience: Great golf range with Toptrace.
Positive experience: Crazy golf was well worth the visit. The cafe was okay. However, the two porterloo's in the car park for crazy golf customers were a disgrace. One was out of action due to vomit everywhere and the other was disgusting. This would stop me visiting again ☹
Fantastic experience: Was a very pleasant experience. Easy to use dispensers. The info screens were easy to use and provided useful shot info. Definately worth the time and money.
Fantastic experience: Just a great place to go for calm solo time to be peaceful. It's a great place to go with friends and there's absolutely no judgement if good or bad. Might even be lucky to get some help from another customer. Also I love the new ball tracking feature. If you can hit the ball past 20ft your ball is tracked for speed, arc, curve, distance and other variables.
Fantastic experience: Mighty Adventures was fantastic. 18 crazy golf holes with lots of entertainment for all ages.
Positive experience: Great facilities just driving range is to expensive, £11 for 100 balls, probably will not re visit ,even though i live in hedge end, will practice elsewhere, (shame)
Fantastic experience: Great fun for all ages!
Positive experience: A great venue to visit on a dry day. Children and Adults can play the golf course alongside the dinosaurs ;-) Information boards for dino enthusiasts included. The course is laid out to be entertaining and fun.
Fantastic experience: With the newly improved digital ball tracking technology installation the place has gone from just my local driving range to my favourite driving range!
