Fantastic experience: Lovely friendly gym

Positive experience: Went for a look around before deciding which gym to use. Was met by a team member James who was friendly and helpful to our questions. The gym was modern and well equipped. There was a good vibe about the place. Changing rooms were smaller than expected but adequate and clean. No sauna /steam room or relaxation /chill out areas that I could see. This is purely a place to work out and is reflected in the pricing, being considerably cheaper than the opposition, and offers value for money. This is fine for me as all I want is to work out and use the punchbags. But my wife wants more including a pool so I'm putting this place on the back burner until I've checked out the other gyms in my area.

Fantastic experience: Due to working away from home, this gym was a couple of doors away from where I am based so perfect place. Went to the Wednesday evening spin and boxing class and the instructor was very good. One more week in Bedford so will defo be going again to this class

Negative experience: Wife was using leg press machine and was told to finish her set as the personal trainers client needed to use it. She was on it for less than 5 minutes. Not how you should treat an equal paying customer.

Fantastic experience: Lots of machines, a lot of new kit, well laid out and not too busy except for week days 3pm until 11pm I would event bother!

Negative experience: Requires your fingerprint to join. No thanks.

Positive experience: Has all the equipment I need but it never gets cleaned! I've been on the same machines since November and they have the same grime on it now I thought they may give all the equipment a once over when they closed for refurbishment but no! Also takes a while to fix broken machines!

Negative experience: Tiff is amazing coming from a london gym this is my away gym and I love her spin class but the fact that everyone parks in the disabled bays with no badge its annoying and putting me off going tbh because I need that parking and when you need someone to complain too no one’s there but there’s emails to my boyfriend to rack back his weights as I said I come from London to go here when I’m in Bedford but I’d rather use PureGym as I have a membership there too less agg more disabled bays and nicer staff members, that tall black guy in there today rude and aggy, the Asian woman her face is moody and unappealing, but back to the black guy this was again all about the weights being racked on a machine I was using there’s no need for it tbh because I see plenty (white) people not racking back there weights and no emails or approaches to them but anyway I think I won’t be paying another month for here. Shame as I said Tiff class is on point. P.S saying her face is moody and unappealing is not attacking someone’s appearance it’s making a statement of a face I saw which wasn’t appealing to me (freedom of speech) maybe telling her to smile look as if she’s a little happier would go along way, as I hear she’s the assistant manger so has access to these reviews possibly a response from her directly maybe? My review is honest and factual I have no need to email you further as a previous reviewer stated which I’m seeing is true management are combative (argumentative) when receiving criticism which is not a great trait as you have not even acknowledged the one highlight your gym has in my opinion which is Tiff who offers all the the things I saw in the two people I mentioned lacked I.E a smile even at 6:30am she’s bubbly, polite, friendly none of which the two I mentioned are so no I won’t be emailing you and yes I have cancelled my direct debit as I won’t be paying another month here you can keep the £25 I already paid.

Negative experience: At the moment not impressed at all. Super busy and broken treadmills and equipment that have not been fixed for at least a month. This means sometimes I can't get on equipment or have to wait long periods.

Fantastic experience: UPDATE: Excellent service- they emailed back with a clear response <3 Listen I love the female bit new lights and mirrors so pretty BUT finger print thing is so finicky! Not inclusive for people w hyperhidrosis and hand diseases ..... Is there any I could use my code to get in as I called emergency number at 9pm who HUNG up on me. Wasted 20 minutes trying to get in.... Is there any way to use my member code to get in? I can provide diagnosis for my disease if necessary xx

Fantastic experience: Joining Simply Bedford exactly a year ago has been the best decision of my life, clean ( I'm a clean freak ), friendly ( important to me ) as well as safe space. Hardly have to wait around for equipment. Made With Megan at Simply Gym has been my PT since I first set foot, she is 100% the reason I'm as confident as I am today a year on, showed me all the equipments, mentors me and pushes me to be the best I can be daily. Love Emma's class on a Saturday morning if I make it on the odd occasion. Made Tiffany's spin class once and technically in my head died so didn't return, she is awesome! Thanks Bedford Team! Fantastic experience: Simply Gym has great facilities & a variety of classes to suit everyone (I love the classes) Staff are always on hand to help out & friendly. Very clean & spacious with up to date equipment. I have to say it’s one of the best gyms I’ve attended in Bedfordshire. I would highly recommend paying a visit, membership prices are affordable so even with the cost of living crisis you can still afford to keep fit & feel good.

Negative experience: Went last year and it was alright, a year ago I’d probably give 4 stars, come back and it’s been rammed with loads of old equipment and there’s so much less space compared to how it used to be, literally just way too overcrowded with equipment, either add a second floor or get rid of the “ladies gym” and organise the equipment, also the lighting is too bright, when I compare to other gyms in Bedford, simply is not at the top of my list

Positive experience: Some of the weight machines are rusty and need up dating. Always lots of members around, different types of gym users and covers lots of aspects of what the various gym members want from a gym. Peak times are really busy.

Negative experience: A shambles of a business, the staff take priority of the kit and enforce rules that they do not follow themselves. They can be extremely confrontational. The gym manager is bias towards this also. The kit has seen better days also.

Negative experience: Terrible experience at this gym, I wouldn’t recommend anyone to this gym. When trying to raise a complaint their first response was to revoke my membership.

Positive experience: It's a good gym. Very busy and small ladies section. The classes are good but sometimes confusing for a new comer.

Negative experience: The gym has old equipment and doesn't look good. The fitness room is closed when there are no classes for clients and Zumba classes do not look professional. Gym service is not nice. I do not recommend.

Negative experience: Been trying for a ages to gain access to a gym I paid for. Sent an email saying I will shortly receive an email with membership details, nothing for 2 days, tried calling, sent emails, no reply. Tried going to the gym but can't get past the gate without a membership number, lol.. Spent ages messing around with the online chat, only to be asked for a security number which 5 people can not find on the 3 emails that had been sent and yet they state it is on every correspondence they send. This company has a serious incompetent IT issue. Probably a good gym set up but has a usless IT and management department.

Negative experience: This gym use to be good when first opened however it has gone downhill. Some of the female staff are rude. Rather than helping customers and putting customer service above everything they think they are self obsessed (delusional). Often the staff are either on their phones or hide away from their job nowhere to be seen on hours. The equipment are also getting old and no one is replacing them. Even with a number of people complaining. There are better 24/7 gyms in Bedford I would explore.

Fantastic experience: Originally posted 4 stars but I've never had a bad experience here. All my interactions with the staff have been positive as they are very friendly and always happy to lend advice when needed. Good range of equipment also.

Positive experience: Decent gym and good overall equipment. Only downfall is that they won’t allow me to use my gympin which allows me to add more weight on top of the pin loaded machines. I do not understand why? A gym pin is designed to allow for more weight to be put on top of the stack once you get to the bottom. Many people use it and nothing has happened to the machines. Please may I know why I cannot use my gympin if others can use them.

Positive experience: It's good, they've s female section

Positive experience: This is a good gym with ample equipment. Everyone that goes here is friendly and respectful of others. It has a good selection of free weights and machines. It has parking on the front and side where I've always found space (compared to puregym in bedford heights where you can never find a space). A few areas where I think this Gym can improve: Be available on gymflex so that corporate employees can expense it. A new entry/exit system, the current one is clunky and sometimes causes tailbacks of queues as the machine sometimes doesn't recognise the pin (maybe a fob or app scanner would work better here). A larger dedicated area for stretching and mat work. The current area is too small so you often see people doing pressups or stretching all over the gym ( they could open up one of the class rooms when not in use) or add another floor, there is certainly enough room. Better maintenance of the structural internal walls, you can see cobwebs and mould in certain area. Lastly I would like to see more cleaning stations scattered around.

Negative experience: Everything is rusty, so many broken machines, missing equipment, gym junkyard.

Negative experience: This gym is filthy. Rusty machines, thick dust and dirt on racks, cobwebs all over the walls and old ripped benches and seat covers. I was a manager of a gym for a few years and it doesn't take much to keep the place clean.

Fantastic experience: Large and friendly gym, very good value for money and don’t have to wait for equipment even in peak times.

Negative experience: I use this gym 3-4 times a week on the basis it is 24hours usually get in there early in the morning - but unfortunately sometimes and on the weekend I go slightly later - as sleep is required - I personally think all the people who use the gym are fair and so are the staff -except for one - she is a personal trainer has a habit of equipment ownership -and jumps on equipment for her personal training - not willing to share - an at this point I'll pause and underline that I fully understand that they get paid for their work and it is essential for their livelihood and we live in unusual times - but we all have chores to do and everyone's time is precious - she retorted to saying to me that she did not feel comfortable me sharing the equipment due to covid19 - I explained that I would wipe down the equipment after use and while she was undertaking her client on another exercise and then they could use it - she still would not partake in this and started arguing - she again underlined that she was not feeling safe due to the present condition with Covid19 - to my utter sense of resignation - she is completely oblivious to the fact there is no social distancing in the gym as we previously had in the way of signs - then goes and tells the manager that I'm using the equipment - the manager in turn - reactively comes over with no basis and tell me she is losing £60 an hour while not being able to train her client.... :( - my point here is the manager and the personal trainer should look at the customer's point who comes into train paying money on a monthly basis and is usually with a mindset of getting quickly out of there because of their own duties - so don't side with your own colleagues who work in the gym - take the customers view into account.

Positive experience: No frills gym but who needs that? Particularly like the women's only feature of the gym.

Positive experience: Air con a bit duff in the ladies gym and runs out of paper towels but otherwise it’s great!

Positive experience: Not a overly busy gym , bit of a let down because around 20% of machines are either out of use or damaged. They seem to take a while to replace broken stuff. A good point is there are lots of antibacterial sprays and wipes provided so a fairly clean gym.

Fantastic experience: I have been teaching classes at Simply Gym Bedford since opening. There is a large variety of equipment in the main gym area, and also a ladies area too. The timetable for classes is varied and always something for everyone. We continue to have great support for our members and management staff. I love being part of the team and teaching for a great gym.

Positive experience: Does what it says on the tin. Nice feature that it has its own womens area. Plenty of space and kit. Music is very very loud. Wouldn't suggest doing a yoga class uNless you can really zone the noise out.

Negative experience: You get what you pay for!! This gym is cheap - but for a reason... It wasn't particularly clean before Covid, did get better after lockdown but last few weeks have been poor. Toilets and changing rooms dirty, lots of discarded spray bottles and rags lying around, no staff around to ask for help. If it's a 24hr gym it should be maintained for that period. Have let manager know by email but no improvement. Gym equipment is well maintained so 2 stars for that.

Negative experience: Terrible gym. Half the multi gym equipment is stiff and rusted, the times I decided to waste my time bu going there the showers were not available as the ceiling was hanging by a thread. Hand dryer hanging off the wall. All round terrible place to work out.

Negative experience: What a shockingly awful gym, wallahi, I've been to several gyms in Bedford. This is by far the worst, the equipment attached has been broken for over two months. There is such a small selection of gym equipment it's actually laughable. What is the management playing at, trapping us in a monthly contract, so we can stand there like a coconut tree waiting for 10 brothers to finish up with the chest machines. It's much worthwhile travelling to pumpsgym, or thegym who are actually actively putting in an effort to keep it refreshing and engaging. The whackest gym by far. Rather bench press my hoover.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic facilities at a great price. Honestly the best equipped gym in bedford, hands down. Surplus of weights and benches etc. And all at a good price. If you’re debating the extra journey out of bedford town centre and if it’s going to be worth it, it will be 100%.

Negative experience: AWFUL SERVICE TO LOYAL CUSTOMERS. I have been a loyal customer to this gym for years and have loved it. I moved recently so had to change gym! However, after cancelling my membership through the direct debit I was charged again for some reason. I let them know but they couldn't help as the money withdrawal has nothing to do with them, I did let this go to be nice. This has now happened AGAIN and they won't refund me even after the amount of money I have paid over the years. The customer service is not appalling as I expect to be treated better, been charged £40 for a gym I cant use!! I was planning on returning but I most definitely won't be.

Fantastic experience: Great place for work outs!! Covid secure, everyone gets a clean rag and a disinfectant bottle on entry to use before and after using machines, free weights, benches and all other equipment in the gym. Social distance is enforced by deactivating other machines to maintain the 2 meter distance as prescribed by the health expects. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. Lots of free weights and machines, and variety of machines for a workout, you won’t need to weight for someone to finish their exercises to get your turn! There is no down time, effective!!! Great work out music you wont need your own music at all. The gym is also equipped with self service points to buy still water, health drinks as well energy drinks when you need a bit of energy to keep you going! Finally the gym is very clean neat and tidy. I absolutely loved it, recommend this to anyone looking for a gym.
