Padiham Leisure Centre

Negative experience: Very disappointed in today's swim. My girlfriend and I paid £5.50 each to be told 2 minutes in that we couldn't swim anywhere we couldn't stand. No explanation as why. Meanwhile a group of young boys were allowed to dive bomb and do everything they wanted no matter where they could stand. It felt embarrassing to just be swimming widths when we paid for the full service of the pool. Even an explanation would have been nice, but just some enforced rule we weren't warned about prior

Negative experience: I never met management like it, if you value your sanity don't complain. Belligerent, self justifying and not interested in patrons feedback. I have been going many years and was very disappointed by there response to a genuine safety complaint.

Negative experience: The gym was designed by a 40 year old crossfiter called Karen she wasn’t too happy when I told her putting a bench press under a direct light was stupid… the only guy who was actually weight lifting was using the squat rack to bench instead of your bench rack :) Karen when you read this know 3 of your own staff told me about you “blowing up on customers” so I enjoyed you hissy fitty you big baby gl with your tiny CrossFit gym at £35 a month

Negative experience: I have been using Padiham whilst st peters is closed. Not enough machines. I really hate the fact that people walking along can see in. So the kids out on the park can see into the gym.

Negative experience: Couldn't do any chinups in this new gym the ceiling is to low, someone didn't think about the layout properly. Liked all the new equipment, tho

Negative experience: under 16s have to leave at half 5 but over 16s can stay until 10 pm on weekdays. Manager said it is in the Terms of Service, this rule was not in place when i bought a membership in September 2023.

Negative experience: Under 16s kicked out at 5.30, even little 10 year olds with parents. Had to wait outside for his mother to finish. And manager was disrespectful towards us.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant facilities. Gym is clean and high tec, the pool is clean and tranquil.

Positive experience: Well organised and welcoming leisure centre. My wife and grandchild enjoyed a pleasant swimming/splashing session, while I watched from the elevated viewing address.

Negative experience: Joined around a few months ago after having spinal fusion to try and aid my recovery and l was looking forward to trying to get back in shape. Was shown around the gym equipment by some guy pictured on the banners outside who was very polite, well informed and aware of my limitations after my previous surgery. The sign up process was easy which was done by the older more mature members of staff who have been working there quite a few years. The longer serving staff have always been polite and friendly and never once have l had any issues with them. Wait for it >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Having used the gym a few times l have always taken a very small gym bag inside the gym with me which holds a small towel, several resistance bands as l cannot use the gym machines due to my previous surgery, my mobile phone which l have to have at all times as l care for my father and my water bottle to keep hydrated. On the day in question l had just had my card scanned for the gym and was proceeding to the door when l simply heard the young man who had scanned my card say "you can't take that bag in with you". I replied "since when, I've always taken this bag in with me as it as the things l need inside it" The lad then replies "well you shouldn't of been allowed." Seeing as l only joined in the first place to help with my rehabilitation l felt rather aggrieved as l was never informed of not being able to take a small gym bag in with me and had l done so l would never of joined in the first place. Now the problem arises with the tone and attitude of the young lad who was on reception. Not only was his tone of voice out of line, his following comments of asking me "why am l getting angry" when l was informed of not being able to take my bag into the gym were quite confrontational. The fact he carried on saying "why am l getting angry" at least another 4 or 5 times in the ensuing conversation made it quite clear he was trying to provoke a more negative reaction from myself that could of resulted in a more noticeable confrontation to anyone in the vicinity. Having always to talked to people with respect and with manners and having never been provoked in such away l was a little taken back however l kept my cool and had to borrow a token and put my gym bag with the things l needed in a locker. As l could no longer do my rehabilitation exercises l did half an hour of cardio and then left the building in a very bemused state. Having had time to sleep on things and as a paying customer l realized in all my years of having gym memberships at various establishments, l have never been spoken to in such a provocative manner as l was on this day in question. Now if this particular member of staff spent more time on staff training than he does on the sunbed then l doubt he would have such a provocative attitude. Fortunately for me however l am free to spend the £34 a month direct debit l paid to Burnley Leisure (Padiham) at any establishment that can meet my needs of which there are many in the local area and for that reason l have cancelled my direct debit and will now join a new gym. Moral of this story. Your hard earned money spends anywhere and as a paying customer l would choose where you spend it wisely. Apart from this one member of staff everyone else was five ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ as was the equipment.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant sports centre

Negative experience: Place was absolutely fine and pool was a decent size, went with our baby (9month old) Problem was there was kids 15-16 screaming, splashing and throwing balls around (quite hard) that nearly hit my daughter, wasn’t just me affected in the pool I spoke to a few people that weren’t happy AT ALL! Got to the changing rooms and I couldn’t wait to get out, as they followed screaming and shouting in there! Need to grow up and lifeguards need to do a better job of telling them! Shame as it’s not far from our home ☹️

Fantastic experience: Nipped in for a cool down swim whilst on holiday, blown away by the staff and lovely clean facilities. All staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, but Alex in particular stood out, taking the time to help a disabled mum of two young girls have the best swimming experience. My 5 year old went from clinging on as if her life depended on it to confidently moving around the pool thanks to his help and encouragement. Getting small toys and floats and cheering her on all the way. Sometimes the smallest things make the biggest differences and Alex really did today!

Fantastic experience: We have joined the swimming academy here and i cant praise the centre and the staff enough, you are made to feel so very welcome and all the facilities are so well organised and clean. After using the indoor facilities, outdoors there is an enclosed football pitch, table tennis, tennis, a large park and a skate park, you could easily spend a full day here

Negative experience: Small gym, good swimming pool, regular fitness classes of different types, came here initially for sauna and steam room gym was secondary but it's been having a refurb since November supposed to be finished in January been told mid March now so I've cancelled my membership pointless paying for services I'm not getting

Negative experience: Swimming pool is very old and very limited, wouldn't say its a place for toddlers unless you want them to drown ‍♀️ not a family swimming pool, whome ever owns this center whether it be a corporation, council or whome ever it definitely needs investing and expanding the actually pool for all people, children, toddlers and babies it's a really shame for woman with babies who can not get out of padiham and see this is the only place they can have as an option staff was amazing if I must say

Negative experience: If I'd have know how shocking it was i wouldn't have gone, I'd have taken time out to drive out of the way to St.peters, upon arrival after getting changed and putting our things in the locker i noticed the door was wedged open that divided the main entrance to the changing rooms as we got in the pool the water was freezing and didn't seem to warm up my daughter was shivering through the whole thing, I think the pool side needs some serious TLC

Positive experience: The gym and swimming facilities are really good. The only down side is the locker keys which are attached to the locker key and fit around your wrist. Unfortunately a lot of the wrist holders need replacing as the do not fasten correctly and are consistently falling off in ghe pool when swimming. I know this is a minor issue bug quite annoying when trying to exercise

Fantastic experience: Great staff who offer help and advice wgen asked and always clean and swimming pool and facilities are of a good standard and gym, sauna and steam room are great. My son goes for swimming lessons and Emma the instructor is FANTASTIC and my son as come on leaps and bounds and his confidence and enjoyment is showing.

Fantastic experience: This is a lovely leisure centre. It's clean, modern and the customer service is excellent! It has everything you'd expect for a leisure centre, swimming, gym, classes and much more. My other half spends lots of time here. I'm beginning to worry.
