Negative experience: Staff are friendly and gym is clean. Please turn the heat up on the showers! Will revisit the start rating if you turn up the water please. It’s good value for money and would be so much better if the shower were at least a little bit warmer.

Negative experience: Dated gym Running machines are horridly dated and aren’t easy to change speeds. They’re an accident waiting to happen. Dated weights and squat racks with no safety wings and no mirror in front of them so you can’t gauge your technique so you’re left to your imagination to decide how you’re doing. The running machines are pointing away from the tv and leaves you staring at the open mat area where people are doing their individual exercises, making for very awkward eye contact. The music played here is ancient and aimed towards people in their 50s and 60s. I thought PureGym was aimed at a younger audience? It’s as if whoever designed the gym had no idea as to what a gym should look like and thought it best to give it secondhand dated equipment which other gyms didn’t want anymore, and then leaves them wondering why the clientele using these relics are people who are a little bit older than the machines they’re using. The moment a different gym comes along like JD I will be fleeing because the offer for the price is not good enough. Update: I requested a refund and they were kind enough to return a significant portion of it back to which I am very grateful. The gym cluster manager also contacted me so I can’t fault their desire to understand and improve.

Positive experience: Best pure gym in the area and very spacious. I went at 1700 and it was much quieter than the other pure gyms in the area. Standard equipment. This would be my puregym of choice in portsmouth/ southampton area.

Negative experience: Have tried to book twice now and they’ve cancelled both appointments with no reason.

Positive experience: The men's changing, but unfortunately, now the unrinals are out of action. This place seems to have a lot of changing room problems.

Positive experience: Good gym with lots of free weights and equipment but when it does get busy you struggle to get on some machines , some people hog them and just sit there playing on there phone for ages in between sets !

Fantastic experience: Beth was great as a PT, she made me feel very comfortable and designed my time around me and my body, had a great time, thanks so much!

Negative experience: If you are thinking of joining Pure Gym Fareham here's my advice: DONT BOTHER, unless you enjoy watching jumped up little students playing on their phones, taking selfies & updating their socials whilst sat on equipment !! Maybe the cheap membership attracts them or maybe it was just the time I went this evening but Jesus Christ at least half of the people in there tonight were wasting time on phones of just sitting on equipment impeding other members training. The staff seem.very young & do nothing about this 'misuse' of the facilities. The toilets were disgusting, bloodied toilet paper on the floor & a cubicle door that doesn't close/lock (been like that for weeks) There's no 'gym atmosphere' It's a leisure centre without a pool. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY !!!

Fantastic experience: Very helpful they have the equipment to help my leg get back to strength after my knee operation

Positive experience: Okay gym and useful as it’s near work. At peak times it’s busy but not as busy as other puregym locations in Southampton and Portsmouth. Classes play loud obnoxious music for all the gym members to enjoy as their classrooms are open plan so no sound buffer. Puregyms need more space for benches and weights.

Negative experience: New to the gym, encountered two staff members and they were both rude and moody on separate occasions. Wouldn’t recommend spending your money on PT sessions, they let the gym down

Negative experience: A gym without music is like a party without cake. Music at low volume is like a whisper from a mouse.

Positive experience: The atomsphere is not great, and the changing room really needs to be refurbished. The lockers have rust on them. Someone leaves shaving hairs in the sink all the time. The floor is always wet by sink, too. One of the toilets full flushed doesn't work correctly. The gym equipment is very good.

Fantastic experience: Me and my boyfriend were looking for a new gym to go to and decided on pure gym. There is nothing I can fault to be honest. In particular Mel has been amazing. I suffer claustrophobia and Mel really went above and beyond when my fear of being enclosed in the pods caused me to have anxiety. She explained everything in great detail and now, I am not scared of them. The gym itself is always clean and the toilets/changing room and showers too. It’s really good to see that members also wipe down equipment after they’ve used them. I’ve also witnessed thorough cleaning being done by staff where treadmills are pulled out to be hoovered underneath. I am really happy that we chose this gym and will definitely be staying put. I love that the app gives different workouts to try, tailored for the individuals needs. And the amount of classes that are included in the membership price is fantastic. I love everything about this gym so far.

Negative experience: No heating and cold showers.

Positive experience: Gone downhill. Was a member for a long time and have recently joined back, having been somewhere else for a while. A lot of the equipment appears quite tired now and a little grubby, relying on customers to wipe over, rather than the kit ever seemingly getting a proper clean. The recent experience of staff eating pot noodles in the exercise area was a delight...! I know staff have to eat but really - a noodle pot in the middle of a gym, while people are trying to exercise. Other than that, the reasons for joining remain, there is a wide range of kit, which you can generally get on, even at peak times.

Fantastic experience: As an amputee, I sometimes struggle to go to new places, and I know the gym can seem quite daunting. Mel, the manager met me at the entrance and instantly made me feel at ease. The other staff members are also very friendly and more than approachable, and are always happy to help with a smile. The gym is well equipped, and even in my wheelchair there is plenty of space to move around. The disabled shower room and toilet are also roomy enough for most with access needs to manoeuvre around. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Really good. I am visiting Fareham from overseas so just needed temporary access to a gym. I attempted to join another gym in Fareham but it proved so difficult to give them my money for a temporary pass that gave up and went to PureGym's website....saw they have a 30 day pass...they easily accepted my money and like magic...I could train. Easy. Good thing is... they are also close to a Costas and a Sainsbury's so training and nutrition/coffee are sorted. I also needed help and used Messenger to contact PureGym's help function. They were very respectful and responsive. All up...great experience and wish I didn't waste my time with the other "we don't want your money" gym.

Negative experience: Cleanliness and hygiene of this place is awful. Changing rooms in an horrific state. Broken urinals and flooded floor all day.

Negative experience: People dropping weighted barbells from above their heads. Offputting and noisy. Rules on nearby posters say not to do this. Staff do nothing. Had to leave several times as my workout becomes enjoyable.

Positive experience: Gym perfectly adequate. Good size and clean. Although often classes only have 2 or 3 people in and it feels like the instructor is trying to wriggle out of doing it, and you have to be firm and say you still want to do it. By extension there aren't a lot of classes on offer and time is often inconvenient. Only other complaint is they sometimes put sellers in the entrance who hassle you.

Negative experience: Not enough resistance machines for such a busy gym, for example, only one leg extension machine! There is a copious amount of cardio equipment which is largely unused, some of which could easily make way for a few more resistance machines. Lots of people clogging up the equipment because they’re busier texting than actually working out. Too much of a poser’s gym for me, sorry.

Fantastic experience: Its a place to be, the atmosphere is just so amazing, i dont wanna waste my time writing so many paragraphs here but take my words, this place is amazing even the team/staff members are absolutely brilliant. This place will never let you down.

Positive experience: Not my usual puregym but was passing on my way back from work. Easy to find and plenty of parking. Great selection of cardio, free weights were a little busy, but people were good at putting everything back quickly. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Wish the showers had temperature controls rather than just a button, could have done with a cold shower post workout.

Fantastic experience: Advantages: Good location of the gym, layout is not so bad, most members of staff are friendly and very approachable, always nice music in the background and welcoming atmosphere. Disadvantages: I use the machine with sport water and often some flavours are missing. One time during lockdown when it was allowed to use the gym, I visited the gym with my sister and as in most of the places you were allowed to stay together if you share the same household I assumed that it also was applied to the gym (other people were training together as well). We were training and a staff approached us and said that we should not train together and keep the distance that because of us they can close the gym and she will be fine as she will still be paid (furlough) while everybody else won't be able to use the gym because of us and it will be our fault. I explained that this is my sister and we live together, but this staff said that it doesn't matter, we still have to maintain the distance. Me and my sister make sure that we keep the right distance. Others around stop exercising together and look confused. (I think it could be a nicer way to explain that we should maintain the distance)

Negative experience: Aging gym equipment. Mens changing rooms woefully inadequate. Not kept very clean.

Fantastic experience: Recently joined PureGym and thought I would start with a class. Lauren was great! Friendly and supportive, helping me with all the exercises and equipment as the gym is new to me. Definitely going to attend more classes, would recommend.

Positive experience: I have been a with Pure Gym for few years now . I do love the layout & everyone is so respectful of each other when I go especially the PTs , Lauren in particular acknowledges myself , we just need to remember that what we see on the outside in people isn’t necessary what they are on the inside ( hidden disabilities)

Negative experience: Awful. Tiny weight section and typical bell ends on the kit. Won't be going again. Didn't even train just walked out

Fantastic experience: Lots of space, plenty of machines for varying needs, and overall very clean and tidy. Not much staff to speak of, though it's mostly self-serving.

Negative experience: Disappointed... as soon as measures ease all social distancing markings out the window and some cleaning stations missing. Gyms are one of the worst place any illness can spread and they don't appear to be taking it seriously at all. Personal trainer asked to use the space literally right next to us and we had to move away - thought they were better than this.

Positive experience: Really nice little gym, with plenty of space inside. Currently set up well for Covid in terms of distancing, although 90% of the users seem to be ignoring the masks rules at the moment, which isn't great. Loses a star though because the locks on the toilet stalls in the men's changing room have been broken for months - is it too much to expect these to be repaired/replaced?!

Positive experience: Lots of cleaning stations and well laid out gym. However, no ones social distancing or wearing face masks so kind of defeats the purpose all together. Wouldn’t recommend if you’re looking for a well spaced out COVID safe gym.

Fantastic experience: Its a good gym, good size and a good price, could do with a few more plates and another rack during peak times but this could just be due to the reduced hours that were applied, this has now changed to 24 hours so its more accessible. Parking is pretty good and a sainsbury is opposite for postworkout food etc also quite a mix of genders not just an all guys gym.

Negative experience: Poor attempt at social distancing. App says there are over 100 people in the gym in the evening

Positive experience: Visited once for a trial. Although its a well equiped gym I'm not sure if it is the one for me. Ive always used EA in Fareham. I found Pure Gym a bit confined, and getting in was a challenge with the pin. I can see why people like it, price wise its cheaper than others, but it lacks a pool. Being open 24 hours is a good point, but it is not staffed all of the time.

Fantastic experience: After trying many gyms in the area (budget and more expensive) PureGym is by far the best in my opinion. Lots of space for equipment, great size free weight area and good selection of classes. I have the mulit gym access which is perfect if you travel.

Positive experience: Even at the busiest times there is plenty of equipment to use. There are lots of free classes for members at varying times to suit different schedules. The gym is reasonably priced with decent enough facilities and it's nice having the flexibility of times to arrive with the 24 hour opening

Fantastic experience: This is my local Puregym I love the fact that it is open 24 hours so fitting in the gym around work is easy. The place is always clean and tidy and any broken equipment gets repaired nice and quick. There are also plenty of classes to choice from and the staff are always on hand to help.

Fantastic experience: Very impressed with this gym!! Hassle free work out's plenty of kit for everyone to work on. The pin system is a bit hmm but you can purchase a key fob to scan in rather than keep entering a pin. Overall great place to work out!
