Positive experience: 24h gym where the toilets, shower & changing rooms are closed at 22pm

Positive experience: Equipment is good. Everything usually works and tidy in the mornings (very untidy if you go in evening). However, they really do need to employ some more cleaning staff. The showers in the gents is really disgusting and there is only one cold shower for after sauna.

Negative experience: Possibly one of the dirtiest gyms I have been in. Bottles left day after day in the same place. Stinking floors and PTs who don't give a s***. Even witnessed one visiting the toilet cubical then leaving to train without washing their hands .... lovely. Mens changing room stinks, the sauna needs a deep clean as the smell is revolting. Prices going up and the standards are getting worse. Especially with the now limited changing opening hours. Spoke to JD but they didn't seem to care.

Negative experience: How can JD Gyms claim to operate 24/7 when their changing room facilities don’t open until 6am? At 5am, the gym already has plenty of members, yet we’re left sharing a single toilet without proper facilities. What are we paying for if such basic amenities aren’t accessible during these hours? This new setup isn’t ideal for those who start work at 5:00, 6:00, or 7:00? Time to leave.

Negative experience: constantly bothered by female staff everytime i go to workout, as it seems not only me who feels this way. Many other people have experienced it aswell.

Negative experience: Lady that works there is very rude, always approaches us seems like she hates life to be honest. Can always go to another gym but just slightly inconvenient as this is closest to home. Anyways just never really felt welcomed because of this specific Individual and a lot of others in the gym had the same experience with her. Very condescending and just plain outright rude !

Fantastic experience: Vasco is the best class teacher in the whole wide world (ever) also an amazing human

Positive experience: Mostly good equipment. Poor quality bench presses, no hack squat. Loads of annoying school children. No one puts anything back in the right place when they're done. The sauna is decent. Needs specialty bars like the arch nemisis swiss bar and a belt squat

Positive experience: Good gym all round - however it’s annoying that there’s only one 1 leg press as it is a very popular machine and so pretty much never available. Previous gyms I have been to (PureGym, The Gym, Easy Gym) all have 3-4 leg presses, so I’m not sure why that is not the case here.

Negative experience: Good gym - horrendous cleanliness and odor in boys changing rooms Coming from Bannatyne to here is like moving from the Maldives to Port Talbot. The stench of the sauna, showers, changing rooms is indescribable. It is actually disgusting, talk about health and safety measures, the smell poses more of a risk to public safety than the 10,000KG of gym equipment present here. Please Please Please employ some cleaners that are willing to tackle the squalor like conditions in the boys toilet. It seems to be a job everyone puts off for good reason. It’s only going to get worse, please JD, other than that it’s a cracking gym!

Positive experience: Being a Newby to Gyms, I don't have a lot to compare this to. It's clean, friendly, and busy, but not too busy to access what kit I want to use. After 3 months of training with Sam Watson, I have realised how he makes the gym so accesabke to those of us who have had no idea what to do in a gym. Sam runs small groups of 4max and has a different routine every session. When you are in the group working together, you have a laugh and become less self-conscious and maybe a bit competitive - it's great for me and what keeps me coming back.

Negative experience: The music is too loud and dangerous on times in the machine area of the gym especially when working with a PT, and you have to stand in front of them to lip read, which means you can't hear them if they say stop. Which is dangerous. The drains smell, the walls in the changing cubicals have never been cleaned, nor do the mirrors, infact no surfaces seem to ever be properly cleaned, maybe whiped down but the toilet floor is a state, the showers are OK if you hold your breath from the drains. The gym equipment when not walking forever to find what you need because no one tidies up after using the stuff. Also, if you use the bar code for the parking, always take a screenshot because they will lie and say you never registered. There should be a sign stating that jd recommends you screenshot the pirates that are the parking company's confirmation. But it's OK cause the out of date prices on stickers make you feel like you can get a bargain. The app doesn't even let you in twice on the same day!!!! You have to ring the green button and wait for the staff to walk all the way from the office to the front. The app also doesn't tell you when the gym is busy or quite... heck, it barely works to be zapped into the building in the first place.yii have to do a weird dance with your phone to enter and leave, but you are not alone cause everyone else is doing it.

Positive experience: Just came into jd Llanishen to become a member here already a member in queen st branch Cardiff wanting to transfer over. Had the most amazing induction with a young man called Connor he showed me the ropes he was so helpfull waiting to enter a zumba class at 8pm my first one hopeing to be a regular here after work .

Negative experience: I joined this gym as it was closer to my house, in the beginning, everything was good but if you are part disabled like me having a stoma bag, don't go. After speaking to the manager a few months ago, explaining i need support and asking if she can transfer my friend's membership from town to here, she said no problem but it never happened, we called but they didn't answer and i even got told off for not putting the dumbbells back but i was alone and couldn't. Customer service here isn’t good and they don’t care about their members. I have cancelled my membership and found a new gym where the support is unreal. JD has let me down

Negative experience: Worst customer service ever, one of the managers did not wven allow us iside his office, we trapped between the main doors and the access doors. The problem was not solved and we left with empty handed. Would not recommend it at all.

Positive experience: Very friendly gym. I use mostly the classes of which there are about 10 options per day.

Positive experience: For a Gym Chain, good range of gym equipment and floor areas/types. Male changing rooms extremely busy and extremely small for a gym with so many members - one of the smallest (and worst) I've seen. Also only four male showers with water which trickles out at a very low temperature.

Negative experience: can someone please tell me why children are allowed to gather round machines taking it up for over half an hour yet people who want to squat aren’t allowed their bag with all the gear they need behind the racks, in the way of no one? Why do you have so many squat racks if people can’t have a bag with the equipment they need to do the exercise? Why is it safer to have it scattered all over the floor? And why do all the lovely members of staff ask you nicely yet female management speak to you like you are dumb for wanting the bag?

Fantastic experience: Excellent range of classes, very good instructors, 24 hours and the staff work hard to keep it spotlessly clean.

Fantastic experience: Came here for the first time this week while staying in Cardiff and I can't sing the praises enough. Easy access, trainers actually teaching proper form, plenty of high quality equipment, busy but not overly so, didn't have to wait long for any of the equipment, friendly clientèle, great vibe here. I've visited the Cardiff centre gym and this place outclasses it on every possible front. Great job guys and keep up the perfect job you're doing.

Fantastic experience: I had a tour around the gym. I found it to be spacious, over 2 floors of equipment. Plenty of workout areas. Changing rooms are lush. Overall I'm impressed appears clean and maintained to high standard. The music was not too loud although I was told the volume increases later in the evening. A thanks to Lewis for showing me around and answering my questions.

Fantastic experience: Really nice gym lots of equipment that are high quality the dumbells the machines etc, they even have a boxing area with boxing bags. the gym is also always clean the plates and dumbells are always put away by the staff really well maintained got everything you need to fit your fitness goals highly recommend

Fantastic experience: Have always managed to find a spare rack even during the post-work peak time. Good quality equipment for strength and cardio. Haven’t tried the classes yet but look forward to doing so.

Positive experience: Great gym - bit busy but usually a machine or bench is free to do what you want. Ergos often low on battery but plenty of cardio machines. Wish they had more sanitiser stations and hand wash, as well as more emphasis on hygiene for other users.

Fantastic experience: Out of all the gyms I have been to this is by far my favourite gym, the staff are friendly and help you out when you need it and take the time to explain to you how to use certain machines so that you know and are aware on how to do it properly and they will show you the correct form to be in

Positive experience: Great price, equipment second to none,sadly its a turning into a youth club,teenagers on phones without headphones texting hogging machines not to mention using electrical points to charge phones..

The staff are really friendly the PT Joe is great if I ever need help using equipment or a machine I have not used before he is always happy to help. It has everything you need and both the gym and changing rooms are very clean !

Positive experience: It’s definitely commercial. Unless you are going in the morning or late in the evening then you will be waiting in a queue for the equipment. Not to mention if you want to use a bench with the cable stacks then you have a large selection of two movable benches which are almost always being used on the smith machines

Fantastic experience: I am almost reluctant to say how good a gym this is as that would encourage more people and it could get too busy! Loads of equipment, helpful staff and great atmosphere...at least it is early morning when I go. Did try post work once but too busy for me.

Positive experience: On Thursday I visited for the first time and went on my first ever pilates. Can't decide if i liked it or not as couldn't focus on breathing or hearing what instructor was saying as music was banging way to hard even tho the glass door was shut (went to homesense before and feel sorry for the staff as it's loud at the till area) but I'm going to give it a go again as really would like attend yoga and pilates for the start and then move on to some spin/circuit. Pilates instructor was lovely, and asked majority of us if everyone's ok before moving on to the session. The gym looks great and is spacious but I don't think its inclusive as people of certain age will avoid such loud and dark place like hell and I say this as a person in my 30s. Changing areas look good, sauna, showers, lockers, couple of separate cubicles aswell, hairdryers.

Positive experience: Great gym, well equipped very busy at peak times 5-7 but you can usually find a space. Even the music is decent which is rare for a commercial gym! Stupid rules about not being allowed bags and chalk in the "CrossFit" areas...

Negative experience: Scammers!!! I joined on £5 first month promotion, didn't like the gym so I cancelled my direct debit and emailed them, they didn't cancel my membership the card bounced so they charged me for additional month (£20) and £20 FEE!!! I used the gym for a week and they charged me £45 for it!! Absolutely disgusting, never again. Also, nice business tactics congratulations on losing 4 members that came over with me, they now cancelled as well and will never return. So enjoy your £45 scammers, you could've earned £80 each month! Whoever is in charge of your marketing should be sacked.

Fantastic experience: I love this gym. I haven't been in years so was waiting for this one to open since i work in the area and it is very convenient. Parking is never an issue for me. It can get busy earlier on in the week but ive never had any issues using the equipment i want and ive never had to wait. I love the fact that nobody seems to judge each other- in fact ive had some lovely chats in the sauna! Very spacious, lots of equipment. There's always members of staff floating around if i did need any help. The changing rooms are very spacious and the showers are the perfect temperature. I actually look forward to my trips to the gym. Havent yet explored downstairs or done any classes but i will in due course. Honestly reading through the 1* ratings- they are a load of bs. Must be competitors because they couldn't have set one foot in here

Fantastic experience: I think this gym is excellent. I have read the negative reviews and I think they are way off the mark. So far the sauna is great but could do with being a bit hotter, gym equipment is excellent and great range of machines for cardio and the spin classes have been really good except classes by Jay. I must say Paula, Verne, Emily and Wendy have been excellent on their spin classes. Vicki the manager is always around and I see her chatting to members and asking for feedback. I know other clubs nearby and one in particular where the manager and his team ask for feedback but don't like to hear the truth. Keeping leading the way Vicki.

Negative experience: Dark and overcrowded a small charges for everything like lockers. So busy could not use any equipment and lack of staff around to help. After this £5 deal runs out it will go up to £20 which is quite a lot.

Negative experience: Great set up , my only (big) criticism was that the music was so loud that I couldn't concentrate on my training, very off putting specially when trying to talk to someone. God knows how pt's will communicate with clients . It may even stop people approaching pt's. Terrible music choice.

Fantastic experience: Went for a visit 2 days ago. Vasco, one of the PT's and class instructor, show me the gym around. Vasco looked to be very professional and knowledgeable about the gym, equipment and classes. For sure the one to go to for PT Sessions. For sure the best gym in the area. 2 huge studios (spin and main studio). Very well equipped with the latest kit. Staff are very friendly and professional. Very cleaned. And it has a sauna.

Fantastic experience: Definitely one of the best gyms in South Wales and certainly the best in the area! Amazing equipment and plenty of it. Spin studio with 40 bikes and great instructors. The main studio is huge and, like the gym floor, extremely well equipped. Staff super friendly and always ready to help. Cleanliness flawless! And the price is jaw dropping. Go an check it!!

Fantastic experience: I went for a visit yesterday. I noticed the staffs are very friendly The equipments are amazing For the price you pay for the membership, it is well worth the money. The place is huge, well layed out and even have sauna.

Fantastic experience: WOW, THIS IS A NICE GYM! It’s a brand-new facility that’s opened up at Llanishen Retail Park, and not only is it amazing inside, but it’s 24 hour access too! The first thing you notice is how awesome it looks, the amount of space and the amazing mood lighting. Then you realise that they’ve got the very best equipment – Eleiko branded weights, and all the state of the art stuff! What I like about this gym is that they’ve segregated it very well. With all the cardio and ergonomic machines on the first floor and all the heavy machines and free weights on the bottom floor, so you never really feel intimidated if you're new to the gym. There are also two exercise studios; a groovy looking spin studio and the main exercise studio is on the first floor. They even have sauna’s in each changing room! The fact that it’s 24 hour access is a big game changer and I think a lot of people would join just for that. It’s definitely worth having a look and signing up ... especially at the price that it's at now!
