Positive experience: A very beautiful, serene area. Close to Premier inn and less than 7minutes to the town. It is 3 minutes from McDonald’s. There is a cafe in the building and wheee you can get hot meals till 3:30pm everyday. There is WiFi in-house but no charging points

Negative experience: little duckling swimming class…. My son attended his first session and I was extremely dissatisfied with the quality of the class for the following reasons: The teacher did not enter the pool, not what we were accustomed to for a one year olds baby class. The pool temperature was uncomfortably cold, and within five minutes of the session, my son’s lips had turned blue, and he was visibly shivering. This is not acceptable for a children’s swimming class. The overall structure of the class was disappointing, with minimal interaction or instruction from the teacher. Simply throwing toys into the pool and leaving parents to manage their children’s swimming is not a structured or beneficial learning experience. After this session, I contacted the leisure centre to cancel my membership immediately but was informed that I would need to provide a 31-day notice period. Given the lack of transparency regarding the class structure and the substandard quality of the session, I believe it is only fair that my membership was cancelled immediately, very disappointing and now paying for a service we wouldn’t use even if it were free.

Negative experience: Came here for a swimming gala. I'm bitterly disappointed. The car park is the size of a postage stamp, meaning that self-entitled parents just leave cars anywhere. ANYWHERE. Block the car park entrance? Sure, I don't care, my offspring are swimming here, don't you know? After paying for a proper spot in the adjacent Premier Inn, I found my way to the viewing gallery. The seating wasn't too bad, but the temperature in there was like being in a furnace. I thought at one point I would faint. And it seemed that they had sold more tickets than actual seats, and lots of people had to sit on the actual stairs! But that's not the fault of the leisure centre. But, what is the centre's fault is the state of the toilets. Four stalls for ladies (one out of order) three sinks (one out of order) and two asthmatic hand driers (one out of order). The only reason I've given two stars is because the staff were friendly and the coffee was good.

Negative experience: We visited with my grandchildren today for them to go into the play center for part of my granddaughters birthday celebrations. We had pre booked online as we do not live locally. Up on arrival there is an 'event' on with nothing but badly handwritten signs pointing this out when we drove in. Not only was there nowhere to park but all other cars are double parked and blocking the road. Parking attendance is absolutely needed for such an 'event'. Also a banner notice on the website pointing this out would have been helpful so we could have made an informed decision before traveling here, we could have gone elsewhere for use of just a play center. The play center is nice but a really loud I'm assuming fan clicks on every 30 minutes which is unbearabley loud. There is also no staff watching the play center other than reception who are dealing with everything else, it's 100% parent watched most parents just aren't bothered so children just do as they please, some with no socks on which isn't hygienic. There is no gate system either so anyone can wander in and children can just wander out.

Positive experience: Only used the coffee shop. Good coffee!

Negative experience: Absolutely rubbish service!!! The women behind the help desk were appalling, i got charged £26 for a one of payment as she set it up wrong, so came to sort out once I had realised and she wanted me to pay £26 again! After explaining they were so judgy saying it was my fault when it wasn’t as the previous woman said it was her mistake and said to sort it next time I was in. Still had to pay £10 for one off payment. Ridiculous Really unhelpful & so un welcoming

Fantastic experience: Seems lovely. Go for my daughter's swimming, so we go "out of hours". She is impressed by changing rooms and pool though, although upset the cafe is shut when we go

Negative experience: Just phoned up to book a swimming session for me and my child tomorrow as it wouldn’t allow me to do this on the website. After waiting 5 minutes for someone to answer I was told there was no one on duty who knew how to book this for the allocated time and to ring back in the morning. The chap has no idea what he was doing. Needless to say, we won’t be going.

Negative experience: Unimpressed with communication. Should have swimming lessons but have a gala on instead. No information or anyone telling us. Disappointed toddler and unimpressed parent. Can push sales on the radio but can’t inform customers about anything. Not alone either. Feel sorry for the person on reception, maybe a manager should show their face and deal with it?

Positive experience: Good facilities, we attend for baby swimming lessons which my daughter absolutely loves. The price is very reasonable. The pool is a bit cold but always clean, changing rooms clean enough. Parking is free at the moment.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely brilliant. You can get a free 4-day taster membership which gives you access to the pool and classes for four consecutive days.

Fantastic experience: Sophie is an excellent PT - she really knows her stuff and I enjoyed every session. Thoroughly recommend. The spin sessions were great - Steve’s on a Monday night, Sophie’s throughout the week and Jake’s too. Great place, great PT.

Negative experience: Just visited the ark leisure centre to take my little boy for his swimming lesson. I won't comment on parking as that's another thing altogether. So we entered the building and walked down to the changing rooms I notice lots of fluff and ddisgusting n the floor but thought OK it's the main entails it will get a lot of foot fall. So we entered the changing room. And we'll I then realised this was a theme throughout the centre .it's so dirty I looked at 5 different lockers all of them were grubby and filthy. I then entered the changing cubicle with my lad ,the floor was disgusting again generally grubby ,fluff and black dirt etc I went up the bk steps to view him and the bin was overflowing and cans spread everywhere with lots of dirty areas . Once in the viewing area I found the same .it feels like if the cleaner mops the floor they don't brush up first .So overall it was just so unclean I was shocked having been the Darwin forest for a visit were it was so clean and continously being cleaned etc Hopefully this can be turned around as it's not like it's an old building it's relatively new Thanks

Positive experience: Nice pool, changing area needs a refresh. Floor very grubby and dirty. Make sure you take sliders. Also would like a better vanity area and one of those spinners that get all the water out your bathing suit/shorts would be a helpful addition. Otherwise, a lovely pool.

Positive experience: Leasure Center ok, but for bigest galas not realy enough. No place for rest, floor only. Not good.

Negative experience: Pool is lovely, not too chlorinated, designated lane swimming. Shame I only got about ten minutes in the pool because the lady on reception didn't tell me it was closing soon. Couldn't say anything when I left because there was load of people waiting! Private pool party maybe? Haven't been able to find a program for pool availability on the website.

Positive experience: Visited on a Sunday. Went for a family swim in the teacher pool. It was over run by older kids throwing watering cans and lobbing balls. Too noisy so a little kids pools where you'd think it be okay to take your two and four old without smacked in the face with flying watercans. The pool was cold both kids lips turned blue quote quickly and the changing rooms were absolutely disgusting

Fantastic experience: Although I’m no longer a member, I still try and use the pool fairly frequently. I haven’t used the gym or been to a class in years but it was always very clean, excellent range of machines, and a really good range of classes with knowledgable and helpful teachers. The facilities are clean and accessible. I’ve never used the play centre as that was installed after my son was appropriate age, so I can’t comment. The cafe serves pretty decent food, at a slightly higher price than I’d normally pay, but captive audience and all that! ‍♀️ There is plenty of parking, both for disabled and then two subsequent car parks with easy access via the road or the bridge into the centre. I would advise to take it extremely easy in the carpark, as it is gravel on top of a matting system, which wears down over time and leaves quite nasty potholes. There is a good range of swimming timetables, lane swimming, open swim, and the kids pool is lovely and warm. The changing rooms are mixed, but with lots of cubicles, including some family sized ones, and also has cubicle showers, sinks, hairdryers and plenty of lockers, both small and large, that either take a £1 or a trolley token!

Fantastic experience: Great facility. Took the kids swimming, there was loads of space jn the big pool even with a few swim lanes in place. Coffee was great, I wish our local leisure centre had such good coffee! The snack and food selection looked good too. Lady on reception was very helpful as we’re on holiday so never visited before. Would definitely visit again

Fantastic experience: I came here 6 years ago when my daughter was a toddler to age 4 and she loved the teaching pool, shallow enough to feel safe with mini fountains and toddler activity wall on the side. Now shes 11yrs and so happy to swim in the deep end of the main pool, it's a really great atmosphere and super clean. The showers and changing rooms for the gym and swimming are both spacious and clean and much better than our shower at home The lady at the front desk and on the phone is happy and welcoming with all the information you need about schedule etc - really helpful! All staff seem just cheerful and happy to help. I used to use the gym here when I lived closer and it's all new equipment and a good selection. The cafe bar is also great with good quality food at reasonable prices - love a good fruit smoothie! Big thanks to everyone at Arc! Hope to visit again some time :) Ps- parking is now free and they have a second overflow carpark if its busier.

Fantastic experience: Been going for a few years now, we go there swimming as a family and the boys love it, we go to the soft play aswel and although it's on the pricey side it's worth it for the kids as it has about 5 levels in total if you ever go the adult should defo explore with the kid, I've never done any sporting activities apart from the gym which is OK I guess, not a big gym person anyway

Negative experience: Went for an induction meeting the person I was meeting turned up at least 35 minutes late, didn't seem slightly bothered about me, just started some sales pitch trying to sell me the full membership once my medical referral ran out. Asked me if I needed showing around (tone and body language really didn't come across as she wanted to) she just organised my card and left it at that. Then a few weeks later rang me to organise an induction Haven't been back I am going to a different one from now on

Positive experience: Took the kids here during the Easter holidays, easy enough to get to, plenty of parking, there's a soft play and pool so perfect for young kids. Both mine loved it. We even got lunch there in the cafe, which was reasonable, plenty of cakes.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely loved my swim today. It's quite therapeutic. Full body exercise.

Negative experience: Left frustrated pretty much every time we come here. It’s lovely and clean but I’m afraid the organisation and attitude of staff leaves something to be desired. Latest let down, called ahead to go to soft play, told its open and available for walk ins. So we get our autistic son ready to go. He’s very excited. Get there and told due to a ‘break down in communication’ the soft play is actually closed as there’s a party. Son kicking off doesn’t understand. Staff apologetic but I’m afraid got to be more organised, letting children down in this way isn’t good. Another very disappointed family there having been told the same thing. The Arc is either closed for galas or closed for parties which makes it quite inaccessible for the general public. Fed up with it.

Positive experience: Car parking ok till there's an event then it gets full. Centre is lovely and facilities great.

Fantastic experience: My 2 year old goes to the soft play here regularly he loves it, gets excited to go every time and the staff there are brilliant. He has recently been diagnosed lactose intolerant and the cafe have added some lactose free options for him and they are looking at expanded so there will be more to choose from.

The website really is difficult to navigate (or us it just me?)and struggles be up to date.Big clean pool and changing rooms. Odd times chosen to be closed as often when children are off school- would be good if there was more awareness of local school term times. Cafe always nice, easy parking.

Fantastic experience: Great venue for, well, sports. We do the Skate121 roller disco and have done for years on a Friday night and they have always been great. The pool is decent, the cafe is great and the soft play will keep the little ones entertained for an age.

Fantastic experience: Took the kids for a mid-week swim, really reasonably priced and lovely big, clean pool. We were the only ones there for a while which was an added bonus. Felt safe in the pool in light of Covid as there is plenty of space and ventilation. Staff were friendly. Had a coffee and snacks in the cafe afterwards and there is a good selection of allergy (non dairy) food which was a nice surprise. Only slight gripe is having to time around swimming lessons in the pool, but it's worth it for such a nice swim.

Positive experience: The facility itself is very nice and welcoming. Both pools look well kept with smart attenative pool attenders. However the pool cafe lets it down some what. Needs more mature common sense people who are more attenative to customers needs.

Negative experience: Not as well organised as Chesterfield leisure centre with the new covid rules. Half of the parents watching swimming lessons failed to wear masks and the arc staff do not seem to be enforcing the rules. Very poor show. Also poor attitude from parents

Negative experience: We paid for a 45 minute toddler session in the training pool, 1245 to 1330. At ten past one of the lifeguards came over to the splash pad where my little one was playing and without saying a word switched it off! When I shouted her back she snapped over her shoulder "pools closed, the session is finished". When I and the other swimmers queried why the session was ending 20 mins early, and pleading with her because my 3 year old (there for a birthday treat) was distraught she said "he'll get over it" and walked off then proceeded to laugh about it with her mates. I did get a full refund, which made up for the missed time from my point of view but the way I and my three year old were spoken to was horrendous.
