Negative experience: I gave this a two because the staff member in the club was very helpful. The club is really only a one star. To start, there is no parking, you park in the leisure park and fight for a space with everyone heading to KFC. The club does not answer the phone to confirm if there is dedicated parking elsewhere. I’m the club, very much past its useful life. Things are old and looking old. Lockers are so small it’s hard to squash a bag inside. The steam room was a little cold, the locker room dirty with many broken things. This club is not a premium facility. Would be great as a budget gym. If you are paying £30 a month for this club, great. If you are paying £150 a month however, get out of the contract and go somewhere else! This is defiantly only worth £30 a month as a club.

Fantastic experience: Lily from the sales team is absolutely amazing ! She always has a smile on her face and is so engaging with members. I highly recommend asking for Lily if you want to buy a membership here

Fantastic experience: I’m giving a five star review for Dawn Legs Bums & Tums 10.40 Thursday Morning. A superb class, great teacher only to find out today that the class is going to be scraped in the new year! The class is always full to capacity so questioning the reason why?….. As an older client I love being taught by an older fit teacher, it shows that anything is possible… Very disappointed David Lloyd.

Negative experience: 38 member when the club originally opened a few years ago back then took weeks to sort out pool had a really good experience and staff very welcoming so shocked when contacted the gym to ask about membership as already been member and bern other gym just wanted pricing .....I may as well been asking for 3 pints of blood and David to pay for mortgage unbelievable act though it top secret MI5 information

Negative experience: DL will allow you to end your membership given good reason, but it'll take them 3 months to do so, and cost you £200+. They won't refund you for this despite multiple requests. Response to below: - I provided evidence for immediate cancellation - I've contacted the support team twice, no response or acknowledgement of request. At least tell me that I won't be refunded and why.

Positive experience: Really good gym. Things like treadmills, stair-steppers and other things like that in there. Just be warned; if you are mainly wanting to swim here, they do have a pool but it is commonly cold. Very rarely is it warm. :)

Fantastic experience: Isla and Harry had a fab time at DL clubs today. They come every week and really enjoy themselves. The variety of classes are great and they really like it when they to new classes like dance, clay, yoga and cheerleading.

Negative experience: Rude staff, poor communication during lockdown! Please read your contract before signing on, it's a pain to get out once your locked in. Good gym if u have kids ,not so much if u don't.

Negative experience: Been a member here for about 18 months, the standards when I joined were OK, but now they've slipped to the point where il be letting my membership lapse and move to odyssey down the road where the membership is similar price but atleast it's clean The gym is OK, the equipment is a bit outdated The standards of cleanliness in the mens changing rooms are practically non existent, the lockers are old and dirty, the floor is literally held down with duct tape and has been for months so I'm assuming that is the long term solution The spa/pool area are also dire, the sauna wall are rotting away and the floor is thick with dirt, the temperature has been set so low for weeks now I'm not sure it even qualifies to be called a sauna. The steam room works on occasion but usually not very well In general I'd say the standards are comparable to a public swimming pool/gym

Negative experience: Trying to get a membership price was like trying to get the security code for a Royal Palace. Why the secrecy? I have opted for an alternative gym.

Fantastic experience: Just signed up. Was seen by Gib who was very nice and informative on the things I asked. Took the time to go through the app and set me up. Now Let’s see what first session tomorrow brings

Negative experience: I tend to use any nearby David Lloyds club during my work or holiday travels. Being a diamond member of David Lloyd Clubs, I had been to many of the David Lloyd clubs but the Stevenage club unfortunately, left a very bad taste. I would never visit it again! During my first visit, I asked in the recption if they can give me a bigger towel and they replied that they only have small towels as the laundry did not arrive. But they offered to provide second towel for a charge! The receptionist’s demeanor was less than welcoming. I don’t know her name but she talks in a very distinct low voice. During my second visit, which was after 3 or 4 months , I asked for a bigger towel again and the receptionist responded curtly saying, “we had this conversation earlier”. I felt like a school going kid being my corrected by a teacher. But this time, she gave a better sounding reason that they are a small club and don’t offer bigger towels like the higher tier David Lloyd’s clubs do. She could have conveyed this in a nicer way and a friendly smile would have gone a long way. Facilities: The gym’s facilities were basic at best. The equipment was outdated, and some machines were out of order. The locker rooms were cramped, and cleanliness was questionable. Atmosphere: The overall atmosphere lacked energy. There was no motivating music or positive vibes. It felt like a place to work out, not a place to thrive. In summary, DL Stevenage falls short in terms of reception’s customer service and facility quality. If you’re looking for a more positive experience, I recommend exploring other options. Remember, everyone’s experience can vary, but this was mine. If you decide to visit, I hope your experience is better!

Fantastic experience: Maria helped us with our membership and she was fantastic, very friendly, helpful and not at all pushy. I have had a fun family swim so far, induction to the gym for my youngests and Dan was excellent. I have had a Zumba class and booked into Steps and Yoga and i am not very exercise minded but i am really excited for my lifestyle change that David Lloyds is giving me.

Negative experience: If you come here to actually work out it’s not worth the money. Equipment is out of date and broken. Facilities are dirty. I complained and they told me that even the broken dettol bottles couldn’t be replaced unless “head office” did it. I have to wait out the 3 month cancellation period but I guess it gives me time to find a new gym.

Negative experience: A friend gave me a pass to go see how it is. I phoned ahead and asked about any rules and if my friend has to be with me. They said, no, and that I can come over any time. When I showed up, they turned me away. When I tried asking about membership (I had to ask 3 times before they acknowledged the question), they dismissed me again saying they don't have the right member of staff available to talk to me. I won't bother again.

Fantastic experience: Saoirse’s rhythm classes are brilliant. She brings the high energy and good vibes to every session. Mixes up the music and fitness routines to keep things fresh. Highly recommend Saoirse as a top fitness coach and rhythm instructor

Fantastic experience: Great gym good facilities and classes. Particularly enjoy Saoirse's rhythm class great tunes and so much energy! Also the Spirit class she does on Monday is amazing and has done wonders for lower back pain I was struggling with. Thank you Saoirse!

Positive experience: Been using david lyods on and off for last 15 years Overall is really good and i enjoy using their facility Steam room, sauna, swimming pool etc etc Must agree with some customers More attention to detail are needed!! Mould, defective equipment , shower need more attention..is something is broken or need replacing just do it Am sure you have some budget for that !! Don’t just take in from members!! Improve the gym too New gym and more modern are opening and you need to keep up with innovation

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend the classes, especially Rhythm, love the instructors, Saoirse and Charlie are motivating and fun, they clearly love instructing and the time they put into planning new playlists and choreographing routines makes a huge difference to the workout. Keeps me coming back and helped me to discover a love of spinning!

Fantastic experience: I love being a member here. The staff are all friendly and helpful. There's a nice lounge area to relax and chat after a workout - with good coffee! Most importantly, there's a wide range of classes. I particularly enjoy Body Pump (Alan), Spirit (Beccy), Body Conditioning (Joyce) and Step (Hayley), but there are many more to cater for all tastes. In my opinion, this club is well managed and very good value for money.

Negative experience: Honestly, not great. For the money you pay (~£68 per adult), you get a gym that's generally too busy during peak times, rather shabby changing rooms and a rather nondescript cafe (with broken iPads - having none would be better!). The pool is fine, although there's no membership for only the pool which is presumably because they make a lot of money by making clients pay for equipment that they don't use. We have paid for swimming lessons for the past two years for out 4-year-old. This was necessary, as there were TWO separate occasions during which the swimming instructor allowed our child to sink under the water due to not being watched closely enough. That was the fault of the instructor, but during other occasions, the teenage lifeguards spend much of the time chatting rather than watching. They have no real competition in the area, and this has ensured that they don't really need to upgrade the club. So they don't. Two stars for the Kids' creche and good-sized pool.

Fantastic experience: David Lloyd Stevenage has some fantastic class instructors. Charlie Sanders is amazing at everything she teaches. Her Rhythm spinning class, Ignyte, and total body workout are always full of energy, great music, perfectly executed choreography, and 110% effort from Charlie herself. If you’re looking to get fit and leave with that feel good factor then this is for you. Brilliant.

Fantastic experience: AMAZING GYM, AMAZING WORKOUTS! Such a family vibe as soon as you walk through the doors. The staff are incredibly friendly and the workouts are led by Charlie and a fantastic team of personal trainers who give hands on instant feedback, guidance and support during 121 or group fitness workouts. They know how to push you to the limit in the best way possible to maximise your workout. The music is banging and the atmosphere is awesome. It’s truely a life changing gym experience, you will not be disappointed!

Negative experience: This gym needs a big shake up, very outdated compared to other David Lloyd’s e.g Hatfield. Needs a full revamp of the club and its classes to be worth the money. Would love class like blaze.

Positive experience: Good gym but closes too early I am also not happy as a customer as it says on google the gym would be closing at 3pm Christmas Eve I have arrived at 2pm to the gym being closed.

Positive experience: Been a member for many years now. DL was a premium brand once upon a time, but is more of an everyday gym now. I do feel there are recurring issues with faulty equipment not only in the gym; but also the jaccuzi and showers. The gym equipment when out of action stays out of action for weeks. As of today the main bank of treadmills have had 3 of them out of action for weeks on end. Why? There is a bicycle with the foot straps missing and these have been missing for months. Why? If Odyssey wasn’t so oversubscribed I would leave as I feel standards are not what they were. Staff are great, always a warm welcome, but they are being let down by poor infrastructure

Fantastic experience: As a first time gym goer I thought I’d sign up to some PT training sessions to get me started!! Ian has been an absolute dream in getting me motivated (great taste in music!!) and helping me set my goals and become a self starter in the gym! Thank you Ian!

Fantastic experience: Just had an amazing PT session with Ian S. Brilliant training session. He always listens to the goals you are trying to achieve and tailors the training to suit.

Fantastic experience: I was so nervous, but Ian was calming and welcoming. I am not a fan of the gym, so to have a PT that met me at the front desk and talked me through was a real help and confidence boost. For those of you that are self conscious and embarrassed at a gym, Ian is fantastic!!

Positive experience: I really do not expect a maintenance man to be carrying out work to the sewage / drains whilst I'm getting changed and making comments about rust and toilet paper blocking the drainage. Surely management would have known he was due today and sealed off the area well in advanced?! VERY disappointed. Also once again the jacuzzi is well below temp at around 18 degrees.

Fantastic experience: Going to David Lloyd is now part of my daily routine. It’s very close to the train station which is ideal for my commute. Parking is not a problem, given the size of the entertainment park in which David Lloyd is situated. The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful. Great examples include Lily who you will greet you at reception; and George the Personal Trainer, who is very knowledgeable and motivational. David Lloyd is kitted out with all the fixed weights, free weights and machines you need. Downstairs there is a nice sized pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. There are plenty of different classes to join too. The changing rooms are spacious with plenty of lockers to secure your belongings (padlock required), with a few privacy booths if you prefer. Showers are private and temperature is adjustable. On your way out, you’ll find the café, which is stocked with protein shakes, healthy snacks and of course, coffee! I very much enjoy starting my day at David Lloyd.
