Negative experience: Took all day to gain courage to enter the gym, got to reception to ASK TO PAY CASH FOR A MONTHLY PASS to be spoken to rudely by the manager on 9/12/24 and refused entry, no exceptions, no help just approached in a awful manner and refused, ALL BECAUSE I WANT TO PAY CASH.

This ensures that the membership is renewed automatically each month without any interruptions, which is why payments for this type of membership cannot be made in cash. Fantastic experience: Excellent place but a little downfall is not many mother/farther baby changing rooms other than that was a fab time for my daughters 1st birthday

Negative experience: Well agded now, very cold inside with parts of it litteraly blowing cold air in. But the worst of all, nobody taking care of ignorants walking straight inside in moody boots looking for their kids. Could possibly see it in any of European countries!!

Fantastic experience: Barnsley Healthy Hearts group held our annual function last night and it was 110% fantastic. Our thanks go out to ALL the staff on duty, great service and excellent food. Big shout out to Mick West our DJ. Well done everyone.

Fantastic experience: Went to Metrodome for our Christmas night out. Meal was absolutely delicious. Piping hot and well cooked. Generous portions too. Staff who looked after us were very friendly and helpful. DJ was really good. Played as many requests as he could. Excellent night!!

Fantastic experience: Excellent time, we went to the water park. Our family really enjoyed it. Was £37.50 for the 3 of us which I felt was fair for the price (Things are pricey nowadays) Would recommend.

Negative experience: Concerns Regarding Hygiene and Training Standards There needs to be more attention to hygiene rules at this swimming pool. People are entering the pool area with shoes on, and even in the shower areas, some are walking around in their shoes. For the sake of children’s hygiene, stricter rules should be enforced in this regard. Additionally, instead of showing children what to do from outside the pool, instructors should be in the water during the lesson, demonstrating what to do while wearing proper swimwear. It’s important that instructors appear professional, and unfortunately, I’ve seen an instructor walking around in regular pants and shoes, which is not appropriate. Swim lessons would be more effective and hygienic if these concerns were addressed. Improving the hygiene and training standards would greatly enhance the experience at this pool.

Positive experience: Had a good time with my 10 year old daughter but the pool and building was not warm enough to be comfortable so only stayed in pool for 45 mins instead of the 90 mins I paid for, a little disappointed as travelled from Sheffield, Probably not returning for this reason.

Negative experience: Swimming not open on MONDAYS!!!!! After a 4 hour drive kids all hyped up. Planned into a long trip. Bought our swim passes at 3pm for the advised 4pm session starts. Bought food and drinks whilst we waited. Nothing online about hour gaps in sessions. Then told no swimming on a Monday eve. Could have chosen any water Park for the kids between London and Inverness. Absolutely gutted....

Fantastic experience: Rob (swimming teacher) has done a fantastic job in teaching my son and 2 daughters to swim.He has shown great patience and understanding in teaching them but also made it fun where my children couldn't wait for the next lesson! A credit to his profession, Barnsley Metrodome and mostly himself. Absolutely fantastic person.

Fantastic experience: Never been to an event of any sort here, this was my 1st, it was Barnsley FC legends night and it was really enjoyable, it was sold out but there was no overcrowding around the bar area and plenty of room to enjoy your drink. Would recommend this venue.

Fantastic experience: Not been here for years for different activities. Me and the wife took the granddaughter swimming and was really impressed, she didn't want to get out. We went to the restaurant afterwards, the blonde lady was really above helpful by explaining how everything works( we were lost lol) meal was brilliant (Sunday carvery but table service)back very soon .

Positive experience: Overall clean good for the money slides were fun would suggest going early food was on point for value and quality only minor complaint burgers could do with a little salt to increase the flavor

Fantastic experience: Great place, slides and waves really make it here too, I haven't been here in years but remember alot and its still as good a visit, the Hideout cafe overlooking the pool is fab (nice veggie burger) and children's hot meal box's.

Negative experience: Went to see the Soul Train, they were OK but only one exceptional singer out of six. Sat at the back and made our own fun. Drinks from the bar were extortionate. £14.70 for a large IPA (not a pint I may add) and a jack daniels and a flat coke! Both served in plastic glasses. Same drinks in town £8.70, and a proper pint measure and proper glasses. Will not be going again!
Negative experience: Absolutely disgusting place. It looks like ot hasn't been cleaned in years. Even the FOH areas are covered in litter. The changing rooms are vile. The lifeguards clearly hate their job and the receptionist are on a power trip. The lifeguards blow their whistles so often it stops meaning anything. If you want a waterpark I recommend Huddersfield or Scarborough.

Negative experience: Every time I go there to drop passengers off in a limousine I get damage caused by the ridiculous over height speed bumps. Barnsley council need a swift kick up the backside to sort it outside

I'm sure you can appreciate the speed bumps are necessary for the amount of car's and public passing through our car park on weekly basis to ensure the speed limits of the car park are been met and visitors stay as safe as possible. Regarding the height, this is something we can discuss with council to make sure it meets regulations and standard's. Positive experience: Great place, lots of fun. However, far too crammed with people to enjoy much time in the wave pool, got elbowed and kicked several times because of it so probably won't visit again with my nephew as its not really safe for kids until they lower the numbers of people in at the same time.

Negative experience: Lovely experience for the children, however, it was way too busy, to the point I'd get kicked by people in the pool left and right. Two of the main facilities (wave pool and eruption)were down, which I would've liked to have been notified about previously. Staff stated that they were waiting for the water levels to rise in eruption, however the water level was the same as our previous visita. As it was my daughters first time at a waterpark it was very disappointing. I will not be going again.

Fantastic experience: What a lovely trip out travelled from nottingham for a decent swimming pool and didn't dissappint it pirate themed with 4 slides. A bowl, a green one which is curvy and fast a black one which is dark with lights and fast. Then a slide with 3 lanes which race. A toddler water park area, diving . boards. With glass window so you can see them which I thought was cool. The water temperature was just right. Changing rooms and toilets was clean. Lots staff In changing room mopping. To say we went at half term it was busy but didn't feel it due to there 2 que system. We also had food and it wasent too bad prefer the restaurant to the crows nest underneath it was affordable and not to long to wait. It also as bowling alley some arcades and can get a deal swim and bowl. My only downfall was staff just assumed we been before so didn't know where we had to go. She eventually told us downstairs then after changing rooms there no arrow to pool. So just few signs would help. Also to mention lots parking and close to the city center and train station so would make full fab day out.

Negative experience: 1hr 30 slot, is not enough time especially for a family got no time to relax and enjoy the water park thats Why I won't be returning. Also is it so hard to set up a que system at bottom of stairs for rides. Sort out all the chaos of people pushing past each other, also time for riders who qued longer for no reason.

Negative experience: I’m having adult swimming lessons I was under the impression that this included access to swimming sessions, I had this conformed by email As I keep getting asked for a membership cards, I spoke the centre I am having lessons at just to be told you do free swimming for adults having lessons even though I haven’t had any issues over the past month. It seams like the left hand doesn’t know what the right had is doing

That is correct, anyone who has swimming lesson has free access to family swims you just need to provide your membership card to reception for them to confirm you have swimming lessons to allow free entry. Negative experience: Far too busy. Took our 2 year old Granddaughter and there were older kids just running riot in the toddler area. Dirty changing rooms and generally not a lot for her to do.

Fantastic experience: I just want to thank the staff working on the bowling alley today I can’t remember their names. Myself and my friend were running mega late coming from Leeds due to someone jumping on the tracks and then having to divert everywhere, the staff let us move our booking by over an hour with no hassle and were super kind when they didn’t have to be as technically it wasn’t their fault. Excellent customer service my kids were expecting not to be able to swim today and nothing was too much trouble for them. Much appreciated guys Thankyou we thoroughly enjoyed our visit

Negative experience: Great place to have fun with kids, but the food quality at upstairs restaurant ruined the impression. The food quality was below average. Stuffed fries with chicken were very dry and overcooked. The pepperoni pizza was low quality, you can buy that kind of pizza in any shop cheapest price from frozen. Sweet potatoes were over-fried too. The basement level canteen is much better in case of food quality.

Positive experience: We really enjoyed our visit to Calypso Cove. The lifeguards made us feel safe and secure without being fun-sponges and Thomas in particular was super helpful in reuniting my daughter with the goggles she dropped in the plunge pool. It was busy, but not quite busy enough to say it was crowded, with the exception of the changing village, where there was not enough cubicles so I had to wait dripping for one to become available. Some families resorted to changing in the general area, blocking access for everyone else. That was the only bad part of what was actually a brilliant day.

Fantastic experience: i bust my friends nose here one slides are also cool too, if you like to cause mischief there are often people playing catch and you can intercept their balls lol just give them back afterwards vending machines in the lobby are cool and the showers work well

Negative experience: Awful experience. There was a poo floating near the big skull, I told a member of staff and nobody went to clean it. We got out after seeing that. We also got told my little was not allowed on the pirate slide as he was just reaching the line, he couldn't go on the big ones because he is still getting his confidence in the water and then we were told he could wear his goggles because they covered his nose. I don't see what difference it makes to goggles that just cover your eyes. The changing rooms stink, and the showers don't stay on for longer than 3 seconds. Absolute waste of money.

Fantastic experience: Not super big, but very good and enough for 1.5 hour with toddlers. The toddlers have awesome time (2 and 4 years old) and infant. They were allowed on most of the water slides. Everything is cleaned and in good condition. I would like just a bit warmer water, but it's just my preference

Negative experience: Went yesterday after booking over a week ago. There was a football game on which filled the carpark up along side the event that was happening in the metronome. We wasn't informed that we wouldn't be able to park due to the two events happening. We eventually managed to park further away from the place, tried to book in but was told to wait until 10 minutes before we were due to swim which is pointless because there was nowhere suitable to sit as it was full of excited " adults " getting drunk. Staff were rude and dismissive, changing rooms stunk of urine there was mixed changing rooms which is inappropriate especially when you have young children. We finished the swim then went for food where my son got a hot chocolate and the staff member didn't put the lid on properly which resulted in my son getting scalded on his leg. Not the brightest bunch of people working there to say the least. We went a couple of years ago and it was spot on but it's really gone down hill now

Fantastic experience: Whoever is not a member there, you are missing out! It's a great place, with fabulous facilities at an affordable price. Meet friends, have a bevie at the café and burn some calories at one of the fully equipped gyms. Members of staff are always on hand to assist. Have a great time!!!

Negative experience: Rude staff. Unclean facilities. Overcrowded. I paid £30 for my family to tread water for an hour, as all 3 pools were way too busy. Typical big business mindset. Take as much money as possible with no regard for how awful an experience it makes. I was rudely demanded to wear shoe coverings on the pool side which I had no problem doing. The only issue was none of the staff were doing so Themselves? If your staff are going to be rude and demanding then they should also follow suit. It’s rather hypocritical. Then once our session was up (the last session of the day) we were rudely rushed out of the pool into the changing rooms along with the other 200+ people to find that there were no cubicles available so I unfortunately had to dry and dress my kids in a grubby crowded changing room hallway. The best way to solve this would be for BPL and Your Space to reduce the capacity per session. It’s not like they need to be overselling it like they are doing. They are an established company with multiple venues across the country. In addition we decided to go bowling, which thinking back I should have known was a bad idea. We had to change lanes 2 times due to a “faulty system” and our game was disrupted multiple times with technical issues. (I must add that the poor woman who worked at the bowling lane was very kind and professional. And she seemed to be fed up with the state of the venue and facilities) All in all it was a very poor experience.

Negative experience: Had planned to watch the snooker qualifying matches,called the day before to make sure the info I had read in the Barnsley Chronicle was correct just turn up 10 in the morning.pay £10 entrance.I turned just after 10 and was told were full, busier than expected,no apology,got to be a better system in this day and age poor experience all round.

Positive experience: The Metrodome has great facilities for all ages and have recently been awarded a large sum of money....so why not spend some on your water bills and get the showers fixed! You literally are better going under a leaking waterpipe to grab some droplets of water than these. This is ashame, because the pool, gym, classes, bowling and food area are all excellent.

Negative experience: On arrival, there was only one person on the reception desk, so waited a good 5-10 minutes to get my prepaid barcode scanned. Walked down the stairs to the family changing rooms and walked in. We was instantly hit with a strong pong of urine that was comparable to the worst public toilets you could possibly imagine! The changing cubicles was very gruby and the floor walking out to the pools felt very slimy under the feet! The pool area was reminiscent to what you'd expect in the 70s. I very much doubt it's ever been cleaned since it was built. I witnessed one of the lifeguards having a real intense nose picking session! Her fingers was so far up I'm surprised there wasn't brain tissue floating in the pool, that's when I saw her deposit several yields of her "product" in the pool! Disgusting behavior!

Positive experience: The swimming facilities are brilliant great value and never to busy. The kids loved it. We had food after at the crows nest which was really nice and good value but the service was very slow and the dress code of a couple of the waiting staff doing the festive parties was very inappropriate. Short skirts which we weren't impressed with when waitress flashed her pants every time she cleared a table.

Negative experience: My parents used to take me here as a kid. Used to love it! I took my son here for the first time in about 25 years today. Greeted by rude staff, a changing room that literally stunk of urine. The smell of chlorine was very strong! (Chlorine is known to smell when it is active in water, meaning there is alot of urine in the water...) 2 slides were closed and the diving area has far too many rules than i remember as a kid. Really sucks to see a place like this fall in to such poor maintenance and management.

Fantastic experience: We've visited the Metrodome several times now, as well as the fantastic swimming pool and slides perfect for all ages the staff are the most friendly, helpful and accommodating around. We drive an hour each way and its worth every minute for such a great experience all round.

Positive experience: Large gymnasium, nice area around, and a decent car park. Central location, and many other shops/ food places nearby. Also hot food and drinks available to buy from inside the building, when there's an event. However, the overspill car park is just a green area nearby, and although it's quite large and nice, when it rains it's difficult to get your car our. The wheels spin in the grass and in the mud. I also think the toilet is quite small for the number of seats, and I didn't notice any changing rooms. And considering people use that as a sport hall, it's something I would expect to be present and available.

Fantastic experience: Went today with my whole family for the Halloween party and it was amazing! You could tell that the staff put so much effort in making this an experience to remember : incredible costumes, nice decorations, the deal bowling & dinner plus they had a very talented face painter. And I won’t lie, not just my niece and nephew had their faces painted :) I do hope they will make something for Christmas as well.

Negative experience: What happened to this place? Over priced, over crowded and dated. And there’s as many lifeguards as there is customers. Policing everything. As soon as the kids go in the deep end-“Whistle” “how far can she swim” and every time the lifeguards change over (wear ear defenders if going). The kids are in the swim club and can swim 1000s of meters, they could show you this if there was enough room for them to do anything other than tread water. Top diving board closed off yet again, probably their new safety policy and not enough of the 3000 lifeguards to manage it.

Negative experience: Splash park very dated and poor. Over crowded, loud, poor changing facilities and very little to do for small children. Over policed to the point where you can not take your child with a full vest and held by an adult more than half way into the pool before 10 whistles blow. This is their control measure rather than reducing numbers and being able to see what is going on. At £30 for two adults and and a toddler they should be ashamed. Managed need to review.

Fantastic experience: we had the marching bands championships there the other week we all said its the best place theyve held it at so far, next year its at Newcastle-upon-Tyne they all ways have top notch venues in the north east

Positive experience: My daughter attends lessons here and is doing fantastic. But my bug bear is that the adults are allowed to wear out door shoes to pool side. They are making access from the changing rooms to pool inaccessible and a fire hazard. I'm sat here watching the crowding now nevermind the bad hygiene

Positive experience: Great place overall, however, I wish the water was much warmer and heating turned up. My little girl's lips go blue and she starts shaking when we enter the swimming pool. We're never there too long for that reason really. That's the only reason I've given 3 stars.

Fantastic experience: Best place for kids hangout, swimming ♂️ water slides pool games, plenty of space for changing rooms, they have bar and restaurant inside as well so while kids enjoy you can have coffee or tea or brunch, they have jumps in water from height as well plus they have vying slide as well.. and then they have water waves but that’s only for short time Overall it’s a good experience and kids loving it..!!

Positive experience: Was a fantastic place for kids to have fun but there doesn't seem to be much organisation in the place, you don't really know where you're going at first it's a bit all over, but when you get to the actual pool it's fantastic fun, so much to do, more for bigger kids/ young adults though I'd say with the big slides, the changing rooms are rather cramped though if you're with a young child who can't go into there own to sort themselves, and your a bigger person yourself it can be a bit chlostraphobic, other than that it was a great experience
Fantastic experience: 5* experience from a young chap called Ethan! Drove an hour and half to get there with the kids and I completely forgot I needed the pounds for the lockers. No cashpoint on site, can't get cashback so I'll be honest started to panic. Spoke to ethan who works there, and he told me he would be back in a couple of minutes, he came back with his wallet, and gave me £2, i couldnt beleive it. I said I would drop it back off at reception after, he insisted I didn't need to. But of course I did. What a lovely young chap, that isn't just customer service that is just pure kindness and I hope someone can recognise this colleague and how he completely went out of the way for a complete stranger. If i had money on me i would have given the gentleman a tip for his generosity but, of course i didnt have any. I was half expecting the money to come borrowed from the till, but when I saw his wallet in his other hand. I was nothing more than shocked. Honestly, made my day. Thank you ethan.
Positive experience: Great for the kids although a little over crowded would have given 5 stars but didn't get full use of facilities (1 slide closed and top diving board closed) dive pool needs cleaning out also
Positive experience: Very good for the kids, gave it 3 stars because one of the slides had been closed and wasn't mentioned on the site when booking, it was also very busy. Queuing for the slides takes abit of time which is a shame.
Positive experience: Good experience overall. The actual waterpark is good, although always extremely busy and not always got everything available (slide and diving board closed when we went). The prices are getting very expensive now so it's just a treat for us every couple of years. The changing rooms are not good though, they are dirty, there's never enough cubicles for families, cubicles are also not big enough and we always have to wait for one to become free. There are rarely big lockers free, only small which isn't good for families as our stuff won't fit. There was also no hot water at all in the changing rooms when we went which meant we couldn't take showers after the swim.
Negative experience: Not safe for families. Hugely overcrowded, drown alarms going off all over the place and life guards leaping in right left and centre to pull non swimmers out. Groups of rude teenagers pushing in on slides and no real regulation in place. Ended up with a fight and lots of swearing on the stairs up to the slides. Not safe for my 6 year old. He was frightened and upset.
Positive experience: The approach is poor through back streets , I couldn't see the signage for disabled car parking and came across it by accident and once inside I think that two pounds fifty is a lot to pay for a do-it-yourself cup of tea . The staff were very helpful when I got lost inside the building . Not overly impressed !
Positive experience: It's a very good place to take the kids....water slides and wave machine. My big gripe with this place is the amount of tickets they sell per session......far too many people in the pools!! Would be much more enjoyable with a few less
