Crewe Hall Hotel & Spa

Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel, lovely spa facilities. There is only one recommendation I would like to ask for, it would be good if you got some EV charger ( with a good rate)

Negative experience: I went to Crewe Hall for a work Christmas party in December 2024. It cost us £45 per head and we were able to choose from three options per course for a three course meal. To call it pathetic would be generous. The starter was weak, as was the dessert, but the main course was way beyond pitiful. For the money we paid, we got two measly slices of carrot, a few soggy potatoes, three plain boiled sprouts, an anaemic looking pig in blanket, a wedge of wet parsnip, and a bit of dry turkey wrapped in bacon which was 90% stuffing on the inside, topped off with what can only be described as brown water. On top of this, they evidently cooked it by leaving it outside in the winter sun because it came to the table slightly cooler than lukewarm. Some plates were sent back. The drink prices are also ridiculous. We were given the option to pre-purchase a bucket of 10 Budweiser or Corona at an implied discounted rate of £5.50 per 330ml bottle. The bar in the events centre didn't have much better available and were charging £6 per pint of generic lager. Of course it's "against their licence" to let you bring your own, and because it's in the middle of nowhere you're basically stuck with it. Some of the staff didn't have a clue. One of the waiters for our table was dishing out whatever was in his hands to whoever was in front of him, and after being corrected, attempted to use someone's phone as a placemat. Entertainment was about what you'd expect - a DJ playing the basic party tunes and a small dance floor. Don't waste your money - you'd be far better off going for an average meal elsewhere. At least that would be above room temperature.

Fantastic experience: Amazing heritage type hotel with a modern twist , lovely Spa and rooms . Food was great though rather expensive . Would highly recommend a visit .

Negative experience: I am surprised so many people have given a 4 or 5 star to this place. I have had 3 encounters with this place and all 3 have been equally bad. 1st time I came with a friend to check the venue for wedding. The lady who showed us around was not bothered at all. Her responses were vague, if we asked anything she said can you please ask all questions at once at the end and she constantly kept calling us wrong names. 2nd time I came here for another friend's wedding in Oct 24 and was not happy with the food service and options. The seating was very poor. The menu options were all wrong. I know this because later the host told us they selected something else in appetizer but on the wedding day we were all served soup. 3rd visit was last night for my work Christmas party and oh my god it was so so bad. There were 7-8 companies having their Christmas meal in one room. The seating was so bad, even my 2yr old can do a better seating plan. It was over crowded and elbows clashing while we were trying to eat. The servers were uni kids. None of them was trained and were just adhoc staff. Poor kids really suffered while serving. If you asked them anything, they had no clue what to answer. The food was below average. The dishes were old and scratched. My main was vegetarian wellington and it was cold. The chocolate sauce on my dessert had gone all solid. Must have been plated and placed hours ago. I cannot believe that their planning manager allowed such a poor seating arrangement. I am never recommending this place to anyone ever again and I will make sure my business never brings us back to this place.

Fantastic experience: Always enjoy a spa day here. Reception staff are lovely and the therapist I had was absolutely amazing. Thank you

Fantastic experience: We have been so fortunate to stay here a number of times this year and each time the hospitality, facilities, restaurant, and spa treatments have all been excellent. We have always been greeted with a warm and friendly welcome by knowledgeable staff who are clearly passionate about the Halls history. A special thank you to Peter who gave us a fabulous tour of the stunning chapel, tea rooms and entrance, and to Dawn who delights us with her selection of feature rooms, especially room 3205 for our Anniversary, thank you so much and we look forward to staying with you again soon!

Negative experience: Came for our Christmas "do" on Saturday... very disappointed with the whole experience, the food was well below standard, and not as if it was cheap either, waiter spilt gravy all over my colleagues trousers as he served her so clearly not trained in silver service ... packed in like sardines... the bottles of proscecco were expensive and then when they came they were from Aldi, 3 bottles of house wine was £100, REALLY???!!... definitely won't be recommending or returning... complete shambles for such a supposedly high class of hotel

Fantastic experience: Been to the brasserie a few times now lovely food. And for afternoon teas such a gorgeous old building I love history and it's a very beautiful place. Been with family and friends never disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Great place. Stayed in the Tower Suite right at the top of the hotel. Magnificent views. Staff lovely. Wonderful interiors.

Fantastic experience: Breathtaking venue with plenty of things to do and an amazing spa! Definitely worth getting a spa day here as the massage is excellent along with the pool facilities. Locker rooms don't require keys or pound coins all you need is a code you create. Gym is fantastic and instaworthy. Food is brilliant very very tasty especially as part of the spa day. The grounds are picturesque and I can see why people have weddings here!

Fantastic experience: Loved this old place. The history and elegance is amazing. I can only imagine as I walked down the halls what it was like over a hundred years ago. Even being this old I feel that the rooms have been modernized enough. If you do t like the old part there is a newer part.

Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful couple of days at Crewe hotel and spa. The staff were fantastic, especially Peter from Sheridans tea room. He took on a guided tour of the old part of the building and explained the history, this gave it a personal touch and we certainly be coming back. The reception staff were great, Isaac, Dawn and Lorraine. Alfie from the restaurant served us and he was a little gem. The staff certainly made our visit one to remember. Everything about this place is positive, the only negative was having to leave.

Positive experience: Visited for a spa day. Not what I expected, arrived to a class finishing that meant the changing area was very busy. The pool area really let the venue down as it was more of a gym pool with limited space around the pool itself. There was a small amount of loungers for the number of spa goers and many had to sit on chairs. The jacuzzi could only fit a small number (1-2)of people in comfortably meaning a queue for the facility or an awkward squeeze in with strangers. Spa treatment was fantastic and I had a top quality massage and the wait room was pure luxury and so relaxing. I could have quite happily stayed there for the duration.

Fantastic experience: This place is absolutely incredible. One of the best places I’ve ever stayed and such a good price too. The place is stunning and the food and drink are absolutely amazing. The staff couldn’t do enough for you, everyone was so kind and helpful. The rooms are modern and the beds so comfortable. The spa and swimming pool was a lovely extra. Could not recommend this place enough. This has been the best place I’ve stayed in a long time.

Fantastic experience: Stayed at this hotel for our 30th anniversary the hotel was full of history and ellagance.we could not of stayed at a more lovely place.the hotel staff could not do enough for us and provide us with a lovely surprise at our evening meal. Fantastic experience: WOW. Stayed in the Tower Suite. Stunning room on 2 levels. Stunning Old Hall. We were treat like royalty. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. All the staff were amazing. They worked so hard. Everywhere was clean, comfortable and the food was very nice. The Pool, Spa and restaurant are in the 'modern wing'. It's a bit of a walk from the Old Hall (can get there via the inside). I have an arthritic hip and coped absolutely fine. All in all a wonderful stay.

Positive experience: I visited Crewe Hall and Spa for a weekend getaway and was overall impressed with the experience. The hotel itself is a beautiful historic building with stunning architecture and grounds. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the facilities were clean and well-maintained. However, I was disappointed with the size of the jacuzzi. It was much smaller than I expected and could only fit a few people at a time. I would have liked a larger jacuzzi where I could relax and unwind with my friends. Despite this minor issue, I would still recommend Crewe Hall and Spa for a relaxing and enjoyable spa break. The facilities are excellent, the staff are friendly, and the location is beautiful.

Fantastic experience: Lovely place the main building, the new part the rooms and bathrooms was not as nice the bathroom around the bath was not sealed great and marks on things. Clean tho

Fantastic experience: What can I say about this little gem on the outskirts of Crewe. I first visited here 14 years ago with my girlfriend on our first date and had a great stay. Fast forward to now and we just had our wedding here and the staff went above and beyond to make everything perfect for us so a massive thank you to Emily and the team who looked after us. Food is always of a good standard but if you are in a big party it might be wise to pre order and also get in early for breakfast if you want to avoid the last minute rush. Rooms in the new part are very comfortable and clean and there is a good choice of feature rooms in the old hall. Would recommend booking yourself in for a massage in the spa and enjoy a afternoon tea. The hotel is also dog friendly which was a massive bonus for us (especially when we got married) They are not allowed in the old hall and the restaurant which wasn't a problem as they were allowed in the bar area where you can have food. Will definitely be back in the near future.

Negative experience: Fabulous grounds and the original historic building's Jacboean architecture is a credit to Samuel Ware. The hall was constructed between 1615 and 1636 with tradesmen and artisans coming from England, Italy, the Netherlands and France, as they were known for their expertise in architecture and design during that time. The influence of continental styles can often be seen in red brick architecture of the era. Unfortunately I had looked forward to my 2 day stay and had even booked a number of spa treatments. If I start with the bedroom located as many have said in the new "modern building", the room was unclean, and smelled badly, for the cost of the room and breakfast I have stayed in far superior accomodation. I did provide feedback on the survey I was sent and asked that someone contact me and it was radio silence, The spa experience felt like it was a chore to the beautician - don't get me wrong I could not do that job, but customer service was severely lacking and the hotel could benefit from sending the Spa staff to a decent spa to see how it should be done! Breakfast day one - we had to ask for cutlery, we were down early and the food was cooked, however the buffet had run out of fried eggs and a number of other things, my husband had wanted a fried egg and asked how long it would be, he was told by a server that he would bring them to the table - at that point I spotted 3 chefs behind the line chatting - not cooking, The eggs did arrive 20 mins later and my husband had finished, his breakfast. Day 2 we were later coming to breakfast as we like to pack, but we were still well within the breakfast period - there was a limited choice, no juice, or water being replenished and the coffee and tea making machines had been switched off - there was still 45 mins of breakfast service left to go. All the cutlery and crockery had been removed and we felt as if we were a real inconvenience. Another lady complained and the bar man made her a coffee, but for self service surely you wait until the end of service before clearing away or offer to make the customer a small y batch of what they would have chosen (I appreciate that noone wants food waste). Even the cereals and milk had been cleared away. Lunch day one, I ordered a veggie burger and a drink, as I pointed out to the hotel when I wrote to them directly - I cannot eat without fluid due to health issues, I had only asked for water, I asked for water 3 times and none arrived, so I had to leave my food and return to my room. Would I return - yes for a walk round the grounds, but due to service and my experience of the dirty room and lack of service - not as a paying customer.

Fantastic experience: Jus returned back after a wonderful weekend away with friends, absolutely stunning hotel. The staff are very friendly and very clean hotel, loved the steam room and spa facilities. The old woodwork and decor is absolutely beautiful. Our room quite spacious , beds were very comfortable and breakfast was really nice as well. Absolutely loved the place.

Fantastic experience: Had an overnight spa stay here and loved every minute well and truly recommend if you want spoiling

Positive experience: This is a bit of a complicated review so bear with me but the brief of it is that this is a lovely hotel to stay at if you happen to be here for a conference or something or if you want to use it as a base for exploring other bits of Cheshire, but it has some issues if one wants to use the hotel as a destination in itself, e.g., for the spa. Background: My partner and I stayed one night because he was attending an event here. I couldn't attend the event myself so my perspective is more on the hotel simply as a hotel to stay a night in. We booked a relatively basic room, along with afternoon tea and some spa treatments. The Good: This hotel is beautiful. I had a great time at night, while waiting for my partner to finish with his event, just exploring the older parts of the hotel. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly in both the hotel and the spa/fitness centre. The hotel restaurant was very nice. The food and service were both of good quality and it was comfortable while still being quite stylish. Breakfast was, likewise, decent. The room was clean and a decent size and there was a nice view of some trees. The spa treatments we had were relaxing and pleasant and the staff giving them were professional, friendly and reassuring. The not so good: I would hesitate to call this a spa hotel. They offer an appropriate range of treatments and those are great but the spa area one gets access to for a few hours around one's treatment or as a hotel guest is really an extension of the gym. It was a sauna, steam room and pool as one might expect but it seems clear to me these were designed for post-workout recovery rather than relaxation. This is a somewhat common issue in UK hotels that claim to have a spa and I guess it is a way to maximise utility, but the appropriate style, layout and function of a sauna/pool area for a spa and for a gym are different and, in this case, clearly built for the gym. Compare this with the urban spas of Central Europe or, closer to home, the Buxton Crescent hotel and spa we stayed at last year, and there is a clearly less relaxing vibe and aesthetic. This is compounded by things like signs telling people not to bring a bag into the pool/sauna area, which is common in these fitness centres, but makes it hard to bring a book in or to store one's glasses before entering the sauna. Little things that slightly degrade the experience. My other issue is much more minor but I was told that it is not possible for bar staff to make cocktails that are not listed on the menu. This is unlikely to be much of an issue for most people, I get that. But I don't think it is really appropriate for a hotel in this price-range not to have cocktail-trained staff on the bar. Summary: A lovely and extremely beautiful hotel as a hotel but a somewhat disappointing spa.

Fantastic experience: Went for a spa treatment. Nice pool and gym too. Lovely setting.

Positive experience: Rooms are very "period" spacious and well equipped. The issue was the noisy fan in bathroom which we couldn't turn off. Staff were helpful and pleasant. The house is very interesting and so where the grounds. Well worth a stay!

Fantastic experience: Staff are lovely. Emily in the breakfast room and the young pretty girl who checked us in, super sweet and super lovely, really friendly and great customer service. The boys doing the coffee should go to all tables and not miss us out because we don't look the same as everyone else. The breakfast wasn't anything special and needs more vegetarian options and more healthy options. The building and grounds are stunning and amazing. The rooms are clean, but normal, nothing special, pillows and mattress lumpy. 2 coffee sachets in room is not enough. I thought this place would be really posh, but it's not everyone who comes here pretty much looks the same and just walk around in tracky bottoms or leggings it's all very normal. The location is pretty, lovely village down the round with a nice pub the white lion, reccommend it.

Fantastic experience: The hall, the old part of the hotel, is beautiful. The old woodwork and the decor is amazing, well worth a visit. We stayed in the new part of the hotel, the rooms were clean but tired they could do with being refurbished.

Negative experience: The only reason I am able to give any stars to this is because of the staff. Very friendly and we had a nice check in experience. There was so many issues in this hotel, that it's shocking they consider themselves to be luxurious. :( We were very excited to stay here, as the photos looked beautiful online. They had impressive Celiac/Gluten Free options on their website and it looked promising. We also had a dog and thought it would be great to stay here with him. On arrival, we were treated very kindly and friendly, explained about breakfast times, where the pool was, where our room was etc and it all seemed like we were off to a great start. The room at a glance looked beautiful, and the bed was comfortable and clean. Upon further inspection there was some horrors, I'll leave my photos attached to explain more. (The brown stains! Oh good lord I don't even want to try and guess what they might have been) I don't expect 5 star experiences everywhere I go, but for the price of this stay it was extremely disappointing and I feel we would have had a better experience in the travel lodge down the road. The grounds of the hotel itself are beautiful, however the room we stayed in (4013) was grubby, actually filthy. A steam clean and a good scrub along with some maintenance would go a long way here. The breakfast was absolutely terrible for myself being Celiac. I asked about what I could eat when arriving to breakfast, in the "green" time frame and it wasn't busy. They had no gluten free bread left. And the buffet had cross contamination, nothing was safe for me to eat. I'd asked what was gluten free and got directed to the buffet and advised most is gluten free except the sausage.. For allergens I feel this place was worrying and I'd advise it might be best to offer people proper allergen menus and perhaps some closed containers. On our first breakfast here for bread running out, it just wasn't good enough considering it was over 150 per night. Although only having bread and cereal for Celiac folk is crazy. I couldn't believe the bread had run out and you were able to offer Gluten free sandwiches in the restaurant. Just silly. I've stayed in many hotels (and hostels!) and this place is below a hostel level in terms of the food options. The room also had air-con which blasted out hot air only. It was very noisy and extremely dusty. Please don't spend your hard earned cash here. Please please please look elsewhere, there are some absolutely fabulous places within 15 minutes from here for the same price and the service you will receive there is honestly first class. This, however, was not. I wish I had read more reviews before staying here I really do. I'm sorry to be giving somewhere such a poor review, but even on check out when we mentioned I wasnt able to eat any of the breakfast food we just got an apology. Disappointed. :(

Fantastic experience: Just returned after a great weekend away. Stunning hotel, with so much character. The staff are very friendly, and accommodating. Delicious meal Friday night and a good breakfast both mornings. Our room was spacious, clean, with comfortable beds and very quiet. Only a couple of miles from the train station which was easy to pick up a taxi. We also got the bus one day which is opposite the entrance to the driveway so very accessible even thought out of town.

Fantastic experience: Stayed on 2night spa break with dinner with my wife our first time here and at a spa,on arrival front desk were welcoming and said if we needed to swap rooms due to my wife's mobility that wouldn't be an issue ,meals in restaurant outstanding daisy was lovely really helpful and hardworking and the man in charge was so friendly and couldn't do enough for everyone even with 2 coach loads in we were still catered and looked after extremely well,the spa treatments were amazing we had Beth f for the 50 minute massage was pure bliss and the 25 minute facial was really nice, all staff very friendly chatty say hello as they walk past to everyone, Sarah in the Sheridan bar makes the best presentation of drinks we went earlier when another member of staff was on but lacked that personal touch so went back later and said we missed your special touch haha Room was really clean and plenty of room pillow was quite flat but there was 2spare new ones Grounds are beautiful luckily had gorgeous weather to enjoy them stunning architecture my wife loved the chapel and great library so quirky lots of hidden details everywhere fireplaces beautiful,really relaxing romantic quiet atmosphere doubt there's another hotel like this anywhere with this much charm and character wish we were here longer now

Positive experience: Crewe Hall main building beautiful, beyond that not so great, the modern extension building spoil whole ambiance of expectation! Seems geared more for corporate events. Check in good, receptionist pleasant. Evening meal ok, service ok. The Brasserie Restaurant disappointing, nothing like its French meaning! Breakfast well where do I start. 1: Table where we were directed to not cleaned from previous guests. So not set! 2: Food cold and not cooked properly, couldn’t eat it! 3: gluten free corner empty! 4: many items ie, butter marmalade etc empty, took it so long to get i gave up. 5: Pastries virtually none existent! 6: Tables not cleared was carnage, absolutely disgusting. Finally Afternoon cream tea booked Served in the bar, no table clothes. Very cramped. Cream tea brought to us on a stand where the bottom sandwich plate was an Inch from the floor? Put on opposite side so partner couldn't reach, we had to move it around ourselves! No one comes on a curtesy check. Saw in another room cream teas served on tables cloths etc, as it should be, so not a pleasant experience for us. Put most in boxes and brought to room. Think some staff need training in hospitality etiquette. Sorry A really disappointing stay and experience.

Fantastic experience: This beautiful, historic hotel has the triple wow factor. From the moment you reach this excellent location, the hotel is a delight. Beautiful carvings, masonry, exquisite designs rich in history. The amazing professional, helpful staff, an absolute credit. The food delicious and beds so comfortable. You can spend hours exploring this delightful hotel. Can't wait for the opportunity to visit again.

Positive experience: A bit difficult to score really. Rooms and service staff (room cleaners). Brilliant. Never stopped and helped out with cleaning the room while out with our dog. Restaurant food was hit and Miss, mainly because the service was so poor that we were receiving meal courses separately sometimes when my partner had actually finished her course. Also they just wandered up and down the floor aimlessly even when food was ready to be served.

Positive experience: When I had originally booked I asked for two adacent classic double rooms when we arrived we were given rooms too far away from eachother.I know you would have just seen 4 adults but they were daughters.I preferred them to be next door seen as I had paid £498.00 in advance for 2 rooms n breakfast. You then gave a room that had old furniture and although the bathroom suite was lovely it wasn't quite my cup of tea. Also it had difficult steps to climb up if one has injuries. Anyhow you did deal with the situation and I loved the room as it was much better interms of access. The view outside was gorgeous and arty farty which I loved and I felt at home. So next time I will book my sisters roomme thinks he he which was 4132 me thinks which was a delux room. The food was delicious in the restaurent and very friendly staff. I would say the great hall for the ceremony was so beautiful and elegant and the party venue was open and not congested. Really enjoyed the wedding shame I didnt stay longer or arrive sooner. Fantastic experience: Absolutely wonderful overnight spa break! Everything from friendly attentive staff, clean comfortable room, spa treatment, food, grounds, bar etc has just been fantastic! This is a stunning wedding venue and we saw a wedding party having a very special time! Highly recommend!!

Fantastic experience: Crewe Hall was a wonderful host to my sisters wedding all the staff were amazing and went the extra mile for us all in a picturesque backdrop. Hotel rooms are very modern which is a great contrast to the old grandeur of the House.

Fantastic experience: Had my hen party night here - we booked the Girls Night In spa break for 8 people. Absolutely every member of staff we came across from reception, to those in the spa/health club, to the bar, servers, and the manager Matt - were so welcoming, attentive and helpful. Can’t thank them enough for such a lovely stay and all-round first class experience. The Hall itself is beautiful with a really rich history, plus a convenient location - so I really couldn’t have asked for more.

Fantastic experience: Had lunch here buffet style, attentive waitress and drinks were served quickly they had a nice vegan option and some of the salad bar was vegan. Lovely food but not piping hot. They even managed to find a piece of vegan cake which was nice. It was lovely to see inside the old main building before we went to the brasserie.

Fantastic experience: Fabulous break away. Super comfy bed and dark room for a terrific night's sleep. Shower and bath in bathroom very nice. Quiet area and nice view from room. Didn't get a chance to use the spa or pool but looks great. Breakfast was great too, with gluten free and vegan options. Well done!

Fantastic experience: Magical place. It's dripping in history. A mysterious woman was playing the grand piano and there was also a mysterious man in the Chapple, I think they were both guests. Good parking and you can walk to the quaint village, with a restaurant(s). The best hotel in Crewe (apart from the other best ones, only stayed at two).

Fantastic experience: Brilliant location just next to the city but still feels tucked away and remote. Beautiful building, I stayed in the more modern wing which was brilliant. The A/C in the rooms worked really well and you couldn't ask for more really. For the price it's well worth a stay.

Positive experience: We stayed here using the Alton Towers package mid week deals package. The venue was beautiful and in a lovely area. It was a great price too. Staff were friendly and helpful, however dinner service was slow with us feeling we had been forgotten about once or twice throughout. The meal was expensive for what it was. Breakfast was included in our deal and was standard hotel breakfast food.

Fantastic experience: Me and my daughter came for afternoon tea the hotel is wonderful and the service from our wonderful host was top class food was excellent can't wait to return

Positive experience: Afternoon Tea My mum and I visited after receiving as a birthday gift. The place itself is amazing and the service was great, however we were both disappointed with the food overall although the scones were exquisite! The bread was stale and the fillings weren’t the greatest, the cheese on the pickle sandwich was hard (grated) and fell off when you picked it up and the ham on our sandwiches wasn’t quality, for a small finger the majority was fat/gristle in all 3! The cakes were shop bought and not the best and we noticed on our way out that 2 other tables had an additional brownies too which we didn’t have. It’s worth a visit if you can get a discount or voucher and it really was a lovely gift but I’m not sure if I’d go again for afternoon tea at that price.

Fantastic experience: Went to Crewe Hall last night for the first time to celebrate a special birthday. Matt Jones the manager greeted us. He was really lovely and very professional. Jamie and Amelia who waited on were really friendly and attentive. The food was amazing. I have to say the Creme Brulee was delightful. The shortbread that came with it was the best I have tasted. The building and gardens was just beautiful and steeped in history. A thoroughly enjoyable experience. Thank you to Matt and his team.

Fantastic experience: Worth reading for an honest review - I'm the "is anything all right" sort of guy I've been to quite a few hotels which there are always issues that make me um and ah about going back but I would absolutely LOVE to come back for another stay. To start just the drive up to the hotel makes you feel like something off a movie or royalty. When you check in it's absolutely incredible inside the estate and the staff were so friendly and helpful. I love how they have the estate which is incredible but yet mixed a modern blend into the actual hotel and stay. Everything is in good condition and everything just feels spacious and fancy. Most hotels there are always niggles or issues. SUPER clean quiet rooms. The bathroom was super modern with a bath on one side and a shower on the other. The clientele seem a lot more sophisticated and respectful. In the Spa area the pool was a decent size, the mist/storm shower was really cool and the warm benches were amazing! The grounds around the estate itself are breathtaking it's absolutely gorgeous. Can't reiterate how friendly the staff are and how they manage to keep it in such a good condition. They need to hire whoever runs the place to fix up other hotels as they've done such a great job from start to finish at the Crewe Hall Hotel and Spa. If HAD to be SUPER critical on any negatives (Which didn't effect stay at all it was AMAZING) TV controller didn't work (we called front desk and they came and replaced it) The room heating set at 30 was blowing cold air (room 4207) I don't think I was doing it wrong but either way they left an electric heater in the closet anyway which heated the room up in minutes. Also the menu for vegetarians wasn't great for the dinner choice but there was plenty of sides and different things to fill up on (balsamic baby onions were delicious) OVERALL This has to be my favourite stay in a hotel and one that makes me want to go back. From feeling like an actual 5 star hotel, the friendly staff and clientele, the great condition of the hotel, the architecture, the pool and all the facilities and the history/modern stay it has to be my favourite hotel and I hope I win the chance to go back again!

Fantastic experience: 9 of us went for brunch on Friday 28th June to celebrate my parents getting married after 34 years together. The service we received from Jess, Amanda and Rowland was incredible! The brunch menu isn’t very extensive but it suited my very picky Dad. Jess was wonderful and bought over lots of amazing pastries whilst we ordered drinks which was fantastic! All three were so attentive and cleared the table after brunch promptly. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Stayed with my husband for his works summer weekend away. Main thing that was outstanding was the staff, Matt Jones and Simone went above and beyond to ensure my husbands stay was comfortable with him currently not having much taste and issues swallowing. Matt took drinks down to the bar where the works party was happening, that wouldn't have been otherwise available and Simone got him a glass of milk for his main meal even though she was extremely busy behind the bar.

Fantastic experience: I was invited here for an event and had lunch. The food was absolutely delicious. It was a Sunday roast buffet, I only had the vegetarian dishes but it was immaculately prepared. I could have just eaten a plate of the carrots (which were cooked perfectly). The champ mash was delicious, the dauphinoise potatoes were delicious, cauliflower cheese was also delicious. Everything was well seasoned and hearty. 10/10 meal, worth the drive . Excellent chef

Positive experience: I am currently here for my advocacy weekend and I love it! The resort is really big and my room was very comfortable. Even if the other amenities weren't so good I would have given a good review solely based on that. The interior aswell as the exterior are very traditional but have been modernized. I loved everyone from the receptionists to the kitchen staff. Exceptional service! The food was very lovely and I cant complain at all about the bottle service lol. Great selections to choose from.

Fantastic experience: A pleasant one night stay. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The grounds were spacious and well maintained. Dog friendly hotel. It isn't walkable distance to Crewe station, you will need a taxi. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Negative experience: Very disappointed with our stay at Crewe Hall. There were many errors made with our booking. The customer service was awful, when checking in, the lady gave us no information on breakfast times, how to get to our rooms, leisure facilities opening hours, etc. Asked at reception if the Terrace Bar was open, said they’d send someone to serve us, after 15min, no one came so asked again and told us that we’d have to sit out the front, waited another 15min to be served and told we couldn’t get alcohol only tea, coffee or water. The food at the restaurant was inedible, avoid if possible. Breakfast was fine. Got charged twice for dinner and drinks after checkout, even though it was part of our package, no apology. No atmosphere, impossible to find staff, only positive were that the rooms were nice.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant venue. I loved the old part of the building, but very glad I stayed in the new part of the building as it was easy access to the pool. Sauna and steam room were amazing. Lounge and bar perfect for chilling at. Staff incredibly friendly. Including Peter in his waistcoat, he was incredibly friendly and chatty. Easy location to get to overall for non drivers. Easy access with Trains and taxis available from both Crewe station and The hotel. Please note, here is a lift, but it's not obvious. When getting off at Crewe I carried my luggage up all the stairs with difficulty. But on the way back, when boarding the train from Crewe to go back to London, we got dropped off at a different entrance which had lift access to the same platform.

Fantastic experience: We had a amazing stay at Crewe Hall, every staff member we interacted with were delightful. We had a fabulous interaction with Peter, whose passion for his job and the house shone through, he told us a little bit about the history and recommend that we go see the 1500s fireplace. During our stay I also ended up joining in with the Thursday aqua class, these classes were free for hotel guests to join in with. The aqua instructor was fabulous and it was a lot of fun We will be back. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: This is an amazing place. We went for a two night stay and the room and spa facilities were great. The massage was lovely and just what I needed but the highlight was how wonderful the staff were. I have a lot of intolerances and allergies and the staff were so helpful and kind about everything. I cannot stress how amazing it was and how confident I was that they were taking care. After a few bad experiences when going out, the idea of going for meals can be nerve wrecking but it was honestly so nice, if everywhere was like this, I would be in heaven. They labelled their menu with gluten free and were happy to check if lactose (butter) was used in cooking which is super helpful for someone like me!

Positive experience: Stayed here on the way to Manchester as it’s only 5min from the M5. Really friendly and helpful staff. Free parking. Nice, modern rooms. What I’d improve? Spa/pool was a bit too family friendly, felt more like a leisure centre atmosphere. Beer selection is all mass produced bland beer - some local craft would be good.

Fantastic experience: My partner and I stayed for 2 nights in the west wing. We took 2 dogs with us. We had afternoon tea and a spa treatment each. All the services were top notch, the facilities here are fantastic. The history of the hall is really interesting and it always lovely to have a walk around the hall and gardens. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and catered for our needs as we are both vegan. We were so relaxed by the time we left that we didn't want to leave!

Fantastic experience: The Feature King Four Poster Double Bed room was as expected, grand and specious in a quiet corner of the main building. One would need a GPS to navigate through the maze of corridors, staircases, chapel etc but it gives a mysterious charm to this Neo-Jacobean looking place. The current house was built for the Crewes in the mid 1800s but there is a modern wing with a very well equipped gym, pool, sauna, steam and spa. A popular wedding venue, plenty of parking space, Would stay here again.

Fantastic experience: Probably one of the most beautiful places I have stayed for a night. The location offered so much and I was not disappointed. Staff was very welcoming and I felt so relaxed. Regardless of what you are in the area for, the beauty of this location will definitely make the trip worth it.

Positive experience: On the whole a good hotel and spa. Lovely old building with the added on new part to accommodate more people. Stayed in the old part, few issues with the room, window not closing, tv not working, but quickly rectified by reception. Lovely buffet breakfast, nice staff. Positive experience: Lovely hotel with amazing architecture. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food was of a very good standard and portion size was large for a higher end hotel (not just a small piece and a squiggle off sauce like some lol). room was in the modern west-wing, it was clean and well equipped only fault I had with it was the shower in the bathtub, I'd prefer a walk in shower.

Positive experience: Lovely hotel. Staff are very welcoming and friendly, food was very tasty and at reasonable prices. Spa was relaxing not too busy. The room was clean although no plug sockets near the bed for changing phone etc. The bathroom was not as clean as I would expect with mould in places that can easily be seen and cleaned. Didn't have time to explore the grounds but they looked lovely from what we saw from inside the hotel

Fantastic experience: Was at Crewe Hall for a conference. The main building is a historical marvel, the staff are fantastic and the location (6 mins from Crewe Station) just perfect. Didn't get an opportunity to utilise the spa facilities fully but will definitely be going back.

Positive experience: Beautiful place and lovely rooms. Seriously let down by the service. Overcharged for drinks but staff didn't fix it, then breakfast staff unhelpful, an older male server was very rude made us feel uncomfortable for asking for pancakes. We addressed our issues on checkout and were told we'd be called back but have heard nothing. We even called them but still not heard back... We stayed 10th Feb.

Fantastic experience: 2nd stay at Crewe Hall and can’t recommend enough was on a special Sunday night deal which incorporates dinner and breakfast and the food was lovely both had 3 courses at dinner and a very ample self serve breakfast.The staff at both servings were excellent so friendly informative and helpful.The room was quite large and the bathroom had both a bath and separate shower with a view of the woodlands and gardens at the rear .We were in the modern annexe but the actual hall which incorporates reception and other bedrooms is an historic building with its own chapel and amazing features shades of Downton Abbey .The hotel as a lovely relaxing ambience and I couldn’t recommend enough for the food rooms staff and value excellent.

Fantastic experience: We booked for a group of six friends for a one night stay. We had a brilliant stay! I think the restaurant supervisor was called Sarah and she was fantastic, very helpful. Couldn’t fault our stay and the breakfast was delicious. Would highly recommend to friends & family.

Fantastic experience: This was my 2nd stay at Crewe hall Hotel and Spa i love this place so more the building the history behiind and i love how peacefull and relaxed it makes me feel so i came back a year later and bought a different friend. Before I even arrived at Crewe Hall I was emailing the staff to change my room from a double to a twin also to change my spa treatment day and time that they automatically booked me and my friend in for and the email responses I got was quick and professional and I can't thank the staff enough for accommodating me and my friend which made my stay even more enjoyable. The stay I had was amazing when we arrived to our room the air con was making a buzzing noise so I rang reception they sent maintenance up to our room within 10/15 mins if it couldn't be fixed reception was happy to to accommodate us in another room, however on his arrival we managed to switch off the air con/heating system with a switch we didnt know about. The man who came to our room offered to give us electric heaters and actually gave us two which was very kind of him so we was happy toasty and warm without that slight buzzing noise if I'm honest it wasn't that bad just because I'm a light sleeper. The meal we had was nice in the restaurant i think we waited around 15 mins for our order to be took. Afterwards we went to the Terence bar which was recommand to go by Staff member Rachel who gave us 10% drinks voucher for the bar staff named Simone she was so lovely she was talking to us about the history of Crewe hall she is very much a people person and her customer service is on point. The sleep was good bed's were comfy and the room was nice and clean. I just love how quiet the corridors are some hotels you can hear people walking around. We had breakfast which was very nice loads to choose from the staff were helpfull as they shown us where everything was placed. We had our treatment in the morning which was lovely the staff were very professional, the relaxation room you go in before you have your treatment is just that smells like spa and it's lovely and peacefull and may I add last year when I went there wasn't water beds this time round there was so that was nice to lay down for abit covered in nice soft blankets and relax. The pool area wasn't busy atall we went in around 11oclock ish again was peacefull and clean. We had a late check out so after that we went for a walk around outside on the grounds again was a nice walk before we left I would definitely recommend Crewe hall hotel and spa and i would definitely be returning. Thank you for a very pleasant enjoyable professional stay.

Positive experience: Good and bad. The room wasn't prepared when we arrived, no under blanket. Bin not emptied, no extra pillows. Did get compensation for this but should have been done. The new part of the hotel is a bit school like, but great massage. The evening meal was good and service fantastic.

Negative experience: I’d like to note we wasn’t asked about our stay on check out, which is why I am leaving this review. We had trouble getting in touch at first, emails would be unanswered for days(we had a complimentary room upgrade for this which was very much appreciated)which ended up us having to book treatments for 3pm(as soon as we checked in) and evening meal at 6.45, which meant when we got out from our treatments we didn’t have long to use facilities before we had to be out and showered and got ready to head down for our meal. But as it turned out, we couldn’t use them anyway. I think there is maybe 10 loungers maximum, and a few plastic garden looking chairs. Kids were asleep on loungers or people left towels on while went for treatments! We stood for a while waiting for somewhere to sit. Couldn’t get in the small jacuzzi as only really fits 2 people. If you try more you’re on top of eachother, people sat in there for ages despite it being busy and not giving others a turn. Kids swim time is peak Saturday and Sunday morning&afternoon. Kids doing bombs in pool, dolls and action figures lined up all down the pool, getting soaked by kids bombing in and out and listening to kids scream was not what we expected when we booked this beautiful hotel for a much needed relaxing break. Steam room and sauna relatively small so again if you don’t want to sit on top of each other; not ideal. Pool was quite chilly. We did speak to reception and was told it’s a busy hotel because members are there too, seems like they have too many members and guests at once because for the whole 24 hours we was there, we had about 20 minutes of relaxation in the spa before it was full of children again, or members taking up the whole pool doing lengths. Such a shame because hotel itself was stunning. I’d like to mention Jess on reception, Dec in the restaurant, and the lovely lady on the terrace bar for being very helpful and polite. Last thing - being charged over £26(that is including 10% discount!!) for 2drinks and told they don’t have mixers on tap because staff used to drink too much - not great! Hotel is expensive enough to stay without being charged a lot for mixer because the hotel didn’t want/trust staff to not drink all of it. To make this hotel perfect, I’d suggest; Change children swim times. Ensure guests know not to sit for over an hour in the hot tub and to give others a chance to enjoy each facility. Do not allow children to take toys in, do not allow children to do bombs whilst people are trying to relax. Monitor emails more frequently to avoid customers like myself not being able to book any decent treatment or meal times. We had this trip booked for us as a welcome home from my husband who had been away for months with work; but unfortunately it wasn’t the relaxing break we expected. I’d like to point out again how brilliant the staff I mentioned above were, and the hotel itself is stunning, but due to the issues above, we unfortunately wouldn’t return.

Negative experience: I am only leaving this review as I wasn’t asked when I was paying, how our stay was. If I had the chance to voice my concerns at the time of check out then I might not have left such a poor review. For the price we paid for a night there were too many things for me to complain about in order for us to want to return. If there are rooms backing onto the bins why are the bins being emptied at 3am?! The hairdryer wasn’t working and then replacement wire was so short I had to keep my foot on the plug to just be able for it to reach me. No way could I see in the mirror with this short wire. We waited way too long to be acknowledged at the bar by 2 team members that only had one customer so we proceeded to other bar where a young woman had zero communication skills. Every time I asked for coke I was given Pepsi max and overcooked fish just to name a few things. The best thing about the stay was the breakfast and the massage. The ladies in the treatment area were very pleasant and the quality of food at breakfast was good. I would probably pick moddershall oaks next time.

Fantastic experience: We had such an amazing stay here. I booked a deal on Wowcher for my boyfriends Christmas present which included 2 spa treatments, spa access for day of arrival and day of check out, dinner for 2, a room to stay, breakfast the next morning and late checkout for £100 pp. I would highly recommend looking for similar deals if you are looking to book because if I had booked all these things seperately through the Crewe Hall website, it would've cost triple what I paid. The food we had was amazing, because we had dinner included we each had £32 to spend on food (drinks you have to pay separate). This allowed me and my partner to get a 2 course meal which was delicious. I am gluten free and they had many options available. Breakfast was also amazing with loads of different food and drink options. Rooms were spacious and clean and had everything you need. The only thing was that our shower plug got blocked and maintenance took their time to see to us, meaning we couldn't have as many showers as we would've liked to but everything else was great!
