PureGym Durham City Retail Park

Positive experience: If you work shifts don't use this gym as the car park they use after 12am till 6am you only get 20 minutes to park or you will get a £100 fine absolutely rediculas

Fantastic experience: It’s a friendly gym, when first joined in June I thought it would have little groups of “clicks” like other gym. Not at all people just get on with what they doing. Everyone helps each other and speaks.

Positive experience: I only know the Arnison Centre gym apart from this one. I prefer the Arnison as it seems roomier with plenty of wall space to stretch against. This gym is only one floor and feels quite jam packed.

Fantastic experience: We recently moved to Durham and I was on the lookout for a local gym. After some research, I decided to visit PureGym to see it firsthand. I dropped in without an appointment, and Simon, who was both helpful and friendly, gave me a tour. Impressed by his introduction, I chose to register. The 24-hour availability is a major advantage. I'll provide an update on my experience after some time to truly assess the gym through regular workouts.

Positive experience: Nice clean gym , good equipment, slightly cramped in places where the machines are close together but other than that very nice

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, lush atmosphere, could do with more treadmills, and some diagrams or screens to show exercises, but over all I love it.

Negative experience: Can't give this gym anything other than a 1 star while the shower doors are transparent. The layout of the changing rooms also means the first thing you see when you walk in are the people showering.

Negative experience: Excellent gym but the shower doors are SEE THROUGH!! The trainer said multiple people have already complained and yet has not been fixed??? Will update this review when the shower doors don't expose my genitalia.

Fantastic experience: Great Gym! A little smaller than the Arnison but perfect for my preferred training times! All of the kit is great, the changing and shower facilities are spot on and the staff all polite! Very happy with my choice to join

Negative experience: Pains me to write it on day 2 of it being opened...I have enjoyed my old puregym tremendously, so I was excited for this gym to open in my neighbourhood...but I am disappointed. Equipment is good, brand new, but limited. Only 4 free weight benches, always occupied. No spinning classes? Only one studio, so very limited number of classes available. Only 8 treadmills. But very disappointed in changing room. Only 20 (?!) lockers available and only 2 showers! The showers screens are semi-transparent, it provides ZERO privacy. Had to wait for someone to stop showering and, lets say, you could see stuff... It currently costs me £13 to use this gym, special offer, but I will probably quit after promotional period is over.
