Negative experience: This gym has really gone downhill. I rejoined with my friend hoping to enjoy the great facilities they used to have, but the spa is completely out of service, the sauna is ineffective, and the showers are unreliable. The management clearly doesn’t care about maintaining the quality that once set this gym apart. Very disappointing.☹️

Negative experience: I recently rejoined this gym after having a great experience years ago, but unfortunately, it has been a huge disappointment this time. The facilities are no longer maintained as they used to be. The spa is completely non-functional, the sauna barely gets hot, and even the showers are unreliable, often not working. For the price they charge, I expected much better upkeep and service. It's clear that the management has let things slide. I can't recommend this gym anymore unless they make some serious improvements.

Negative experience: The gym In itself is fine, has all equipments needed. Only problem is that there is always something going wrong either jacuzzi isn’t working or sauna/steam and it takes months to fix. People pay to get all facilities and that should be taken in to consideration by the owners !!

Fantastic experience: Awesome experience, I met Hollie- she is absolutely amazing. As I bought the programme (highly recommended) she actually took me through all exercises, designed a plan for me with diet advice and made sure I was doing them correctly. She took my measurements and decided clear goals with me. I am very hopeful that it’s gonna work.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to this gym for nearly 2 years and it's brilliant. It caters for women so well and the range of gym equipment is excellent.

Fantastic experience: Thie gym is owned by two lovely ladies, Love this ladies only gym, love the environment, have jacuzzi, steam/ sauna and clean showers. Easy access to lockers and changing room, hair dryers and toilets, coffee machine, even provides baby sitting for busy mom's and ofcourse gym which has from treadmill to staircase, row machine and weights. Super friendly staff and always available to help. I drive from Manchester to Ashton just because I love this gym. ☺️

Negative experience: Worst gym ever. Just look at the owners response to any bad reviews it’s so childish and unprofessional to be throwing tantrums instead of listening to your clientele and taking on critique. To keep it short, - their range of free weights is abysmal: woman are capable of lifting more than a 10kg plate you know - staff are rude and literally do not care - advertised as ladies only but will have men walking around freely in the gym (yes we’re aware men exist, it’s half the reason many sign up to a ladies only gym, including women who veil for religious reasons and your response to those ladies is SHOCKING. Most of your clientele are Muslim women yet you have the audacity to rudely respond to their concerns with condescending comments? Shame on you.) - opening and closing times are not very flexible - all around just pure TRASH And miss owner before you get rude under my comment, I left MONTHS ago. Just thought I’d warn the ladies looking to join for the new year xxx

Negative experience: I joined this gym as it’s the only female only gym in my locality. Upon arrival I noticed a sign saying the showers only have cold water “until the foreseeable future” as they’re waiting for the boiler to be repaired. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and assumed it would be fixed within a week or so. 2 months in to my membership and there’s still no hot water. When I initially joined, I didn’t understand how to use some of the machines as the instructions didn’t correlate with the machinery; I asked for help and was told by member of staff that they’d be over to help in a few minutes. 1hr later and said staff member is still sat at the desk, giggling on her phone whilst watching Snapchat videos. It’s worth mentioning that sitting on Snapchat seems to be the one thing all of the younger members of staff have in common! A few other reasons why I found myself at the end of my tether and finally biting my bullet and cancelling my membership: - I rang to ask if the crèche needed to be pre-booked, spoke to the manager who assured me this didn’t need to be done. Paid for parking, arrived at the gym, only to be told when I got there that they’d reached their capacity of 6 children. The lady working at the crèche told me to return a bit later as perhaps one of the children will have left by then — when I returned after an hour the same member of staff said “there’s no point putting him in the crèche now because the crèche closes in 10 minutes” - finished work the following evening at 7:30pm, rushed to the gym and got there for 8. All while doing my workout the member of staff was hovering around me: turning off the music, switching off the lights, putting back equipment I was using. I get it — it’s annoying when a customer arrives last minute — but it’s not like I had much choice as the crèche facility clearly wasn’t working for me. I finished my workout as quickly as humanly possible and rushed down to the showers only to find the lights switched off. I rushed over to the member of staff to ask if she could turn on the lights. Her response — literally shouting from the top of her lungs “WE’RE CLOSED!!”. My response — sheepish: “but it says online that you close at 9:15pm”. Her response: “NO!! WE CLOSE AT 9”. My response: “but it’s only 8:40pm”. Her response: “OH FOR GODSAKE!! GET A MOVE ON!” You best believe I washed in the freezing cold shower, pulled on my clothes and ran out of the gym within 6mins - One of the very few joys I found when I joined this gym was the steam room facility. You’d understand my dismay when I got told yesterday that the spa facility was being closed in October. The manager nonchalantly mentioned how they have to pay “7 grand a month with the new energy hikes” when I said that this was one of the main selling points of the gym and she’d find that she’d lose custom should she decide to close it. Her response: “I don’t care”. This was the final straw. I’m pretty sure I’m missing a few other red flags but these are the ones that have remained at the top of my mind. Unique Fitness is genuinely the worst gym I’ve ever had the misfortune to experience in my life! Avoid at all costs!!

Fantastic experience: I joined the gym few days ago and omg it’s a dream come true for me because it’s women only and can feel comfortable working out plus it’s not very busy you don’t have to wait, there’s sauna, steam room and jacuzzi I mean what more could I ask? Sara was very friendly and welcoming I just love this place when I left I felt so fresh and alive just what I needed really..

Fantastic experience: Been at this gym 6 months now & love it! Really good classes and women only is a bonus. The spa is great after a work out too. Really nice comfortable environment & everyone is lovely! Would definitely recommend! xxx

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this gym❤ The classes are amazing,as are the girls that attend. Made some amazing friends and it's always such a laugh. Definitely recommend joining, especially for mummy's who need to get the fitness back, have a break and make new friends.

Gym equipment is amazing with a wide range of weights catering for every ability, spa facilities are so relaxing and refreshing, the gym and spa are always kept sparkling clean making it even more enjoyable My fave place to train and relax all in one. PS. The staff are all amazing and approachable and are always on hand to help with any queries whether it being based around exercise/injuries/nutrition/memberships

Fantastic experience: This is the best gym I have been to. I have tried other local gyms but felt intimated by the way men work out and look at you. Here it's all women of different sizes so there is none of that. I feel safe and secure. I love the classes as I do get pushed, which for me gives me the drive to say to myself 'I can do another rep' and then feel proud of myself at the end. Keep up the good work.

Fantastic experience: Love this gym, I have been coming for nearly 2 years now (when it's not been closed for COVID). It was great when I had the baby too as there is an onsite crèche. Gym is well equipped for what I need it for and a range of good/hard classes. I have not used the spa, changing rooms or showers but when I have been down there to the toilet it always looks very clean and well kept. It is a women's only which is a massive bonus I have seen a male approach once and he was asked to wait at the door and not to enter. Staff always friendly and happy to help. The owner also offers a PT service which I can recommend too. Only negative is there can be some smelly people sometimes so if possible more air fresheners. But overall Thank you for making my gym experience a good one

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this gym! It is the most inclusive, welcoming and friendly place. You are not just a number here, you are treated as a friend. There is always help for you to use any equipment, advice on classes and induction plans for everyone. Classes are superb! Nobody feels out of place as instructors and members welcome everyone and will help you when needed. There is also a great atmosphere of encouragement for each other so it’s nice to go and feel part of something. The gym is continually being cleaned to the highest standards as is the spa. The staff are hard working and friendly, and they will do anything they can to help. Special mentions to Katy, the owner, who listens to any issues and wants to keep members happy, and will set time aside to help you on your fitness journey. Sarah who is always there in the daytime to help with your memberships, equipment and crèche and all round superstar Amy who seems to be able to do anything. Love it!!

Negative experience: Hijabi/Niqabi Muslim ladies (and any other ladies that cover themselves in front of men) need to avoid this place. Unique Spa & Fitness is advertised as a Ladies-Only facility, but men are frequently walking through the vicinity, and they do not tell you this when you sign up. As of now, 2 men have seen me without my hijab on which is the last thing I expected when I signed up to a Ladies-Only gym. After politely contacting the owner with concerns and options for mediation, she replied with "if the male presence affects you, then cancel your membership" which is inappropriate as the business is advertised as a Ladies-Only facility, not a Ladies-Only-With-Men-Frequently-Around facility. This business is not showing a duty of care towards its clientele in regards to this issue and it is completely unacceptable. Would rate 0 stars if it was possible. We will be taking this matter further in due course. In response to the owner’s response: The men that come in can see right into the gym area as the reception area isn’t cordoned off, and they go past the studio upstairs which is all glass so you can see in. As you don’t seem to understand, I will reiterate the message again. The issue is, even though you bizarrely don’t think that there is one, is that you don’t care for peoples religious reasons, but you happily take their money. You let ladies who cover themselves in front of men sign up to your business without telling them that men walk through the vicinity, even though that this situation affects these ladies in a big way. Shame on you. You have no morals. You’re right, you don’t deserve a 1-star rating…you deserve a minus 100-star rating, but unfortunately that doesn’t exist on this reviewing platform. In summary, this has to be one of the worst conducts in business that I’ve ever seen in my life. Unbelievable. EXTRA NOTES: In case any of you were wondering why the above under ‘in response to the owner’s response’ doesn’t make any sense, it’s because the owner has since changed her response. Also, a lot of 5* reviews suddenly appeared around the same time that this review did, but hopefully anyone with their wits about them will be able to see right through that!

Negative experience: Seems to only be good for the classes. The gym itself is a mess. Never any staff around to help or incase of injury. Range of free weights not that great as there’s nothing for those who want to lift heavy and the equipment is inconsistent (should have a range of weighted bars and plates that fit all the bars. I don’t get why there’s so many different types), only one bench and one step stool on the floor meaning you waste time waiting, hardly any floor space for free weight/non machine users and granted it’s not the gyms fault put people never put their stuff back. Also wished they stayed open till at least 10pm. This gym has potential to be great, I just pray big changes are made soon

Negative experience: What an absolute joke how can u say u open till 9 and chuck out too teens at 8.30 and lock the doors on a Friday night they had to wait 20min in the freezing cold to get picked up absolutely ridiculous

Fantastic experience: Love this place!!! What a great atmosphere.. amazing friendly community. The classes are amazing be ready to sweat!!!! And the crèche just tops it all off.. I can leave my baby in safe hands while I work out I just love it x

Fantastic experience: Love going to the gym here!! The classes are the best and the Creche has been so useful for my babies the last two years. I wouldn’t have got my sanity back without it. Thanks to all the staff and especially Katy for create a lovely ladies only environment.

Fantastic experience: Love the community vibe in the place everyone’s very friendly, the gym has everything I need, the classes are brill and the crèche gives both me and my little girl a good excuse to get out of the house. I signed up for 12 months for the discount and will be signing up again as soon as my contract has ended

Fantastic experience: Fab place to go if you don't like mixed Gyms, all the trainers are also ladies so there's no need to be shy or embarrassed about anything because all races use thus Gym.

Negative experience: Can't fault the actual gym itself I loved working out there but when covid hit the owner and the contract management shown their true colours. When lockdown hit I received zero furlough and zero help from the self employment scheme. I proved to the contract company my dramatic loss of pay and even told the owner of my situation. The owner said she has no control and wouldn't be able to cancel my contract and ASHBOURNE MANAGEMENT WHO HAVE BEEN TAKEN TO COURT FOR THEIR UNFAIR CONTRACTS, have dragged their heels, even after id showed them my UC statements. They kept freezing it and basically denying that they could cancel my membership even though in their terms it states that I could. Please be aware that when you sign up, the website doesn't tell you at all that you are joining a yearly contract. Its a complete shambles. avoid.

Positive experience: The gym's facilities and staff are great! All the staff are lovely and very welcoming. There are plenty of classes to choose from and the spa facilities are awesome! It's a shame that the Gym doesn't open before 9am as this would have been a lot more convenient for me. My main issue, however, is that the gym uses Ashbourne Management service which ties you into a 11 month contract with the gym. I have had unforeseen circumstances which has meant that I will no longer be able to attend the gym. However, I am still being forced to pay the amount to attend the gym. £30 isn't a lot, but when your are paying for something that you can not use it is very frustrating! For this reason I would say unless you are 100% that you are going to be able to attend the gym for 11 months (with no nasty surprises cropping up to stop you attending)DO NOT SIGN UP!

He really enjoys being there. Katy (owner/ instructor)is fab, professional and a brilliant down to earth and friendly women who is always there to help achieve your fitness goals, really pushes and motivates you to work hard! She has a great sense of humour and her classes are always fun. I don't think I could have got so far without her encouragement and advice.This gym is a great place , I spend most of my free time there , it's almost like my second home! Plus it has a spa and beauty area all under one roof.... what more could a girl want?!!

Fantastic experience: What a fantastic place to train. The instructors and staff are extremely knowledgeable and professional. All staff are highly motivated and friendly which is great vibe to be around. Equipment is well maintained and class programme is varied. The gym is focused on individuals achieving their goals and supporting everyone's fitness objectives. Atmosphere is great in the gym and there is a brilliant social scene. No excuses when there is a crèche and family classes running. Great achievement Katy- dedication and hard work pays off. Great team

Positive experience: There are 4 television in the gym area. Only 1 is on usually, it's a shame because would help to stay on the equipment when you get bored. Unfortunately few times I found the sauna or steamroom off, usually happened in Saturdays around 12pm. Bit dissapointing. The other thing which is not the best that at the weekends you close at 2pm. I think its very early. People who work usually have time only at the weekend to go to gym or spa. Overall I am okay with this gym, very good that only ladies can use it.

Negative experience: I visited today, this was my 3rd visit to the gym to use the sauna. This is the only facility that I use. Prior to coming to use these facilities I rang the gym to ask whether they had a policy with regards to what is allowed to be worn in the sauna. I asked about sauna suits and also being fully clothed whilst using the sauna with clean clothes. To which the lovely woman at the other end of the phone replied you can wear anything but not your gym clothes. ( i.e what you have not sweated in). The enquiry was originally for my mother, who has been going to the gym since November and has had no issues with being fully clothed in the sauna facilities. I myself started going in December and had no issue the first two times I visited. I turned up today as usual to use the sauna and the lady who was at the gym today saw my attire as we were going into the sauna area, she said we were not allowed to wear clothes when using the spa area and that it is swim wear only. We explained that we only use the sauna and that no one has said anything to us about being fully clothed before. I was utterly disappointed and embarrassed at being turned away once I had paid to use a facility. I would have understood if I had not made my enquires prior to coming to use the facilities. I am not one for breaking the rules in establishments because they don't suit what I desire them to be. The lady said it was swim wear only for hygiene reasons. I am curious to know if I turned up wearing a burkini as that fully covers you and is known as swim wear would i be turned away ?. The gym needs a clear policy and one that all the staff adhere to if they want to turn paying customers away.
