Robin Park Leisure Centre

Fantastic experience: A fantastic venue for hosting tennis sessions. The conditions of the courts are brilliant and the staff are never in a hurry to force you off the court at the end of the night.

Negative experience: Been a member of this Gym now for over 12 years. Its falling down fast. Members are expected to clean the equipment after using. Equipment packs in and takes week to fix. It took more than 5 weeks to fix a locker door. The latest - the Sauna and steam rooms are out of action, been like this for two weeks. It's ripping people off!

Negative experience: I was phoning for an hour with no answer just a voice mail, I wanted to play table tennis, so I drove 10 Mile's to the centre to find 4 people standing around doing nothing on reception, and was told there was no table tennis available, which somebody could of told me if they would of bothered to answer the phone. Very poor communication, answer your phone and stop standing around getting paid to do nothing and give people the information they need and save them a wasted journey. I am not happy with the experience I had and will not be going again.

Fantastic experience: I love it here. All the staff are chatty and friendly. Even fellow gym goers are chatty. I've met a few amazing people here. My fave place to go feel so comfortable

Fantastic experience: This was the location of the Wigan Beer Festival which I attended with friends for about the tenth year in the trot. A large selection of both light hoppy and darker, heavier beers did not disappoint. The venue, with its bleacher-like terracing was welcoming and large enough to accommodate the festival goers (slightly down due to Northern Rail train drivers being on strike. Methinks they planned their strike dates to coincide with the festival so that they could attend).

Negative experience: Was here at the weekend on Sunday to watch my eldest daughter at the gymnastics competition. It’s really gone down hill this place since I last came last year. I took my 4 year old to the toilet by the reception and bar and the disabled one was out of order so we had to wait to use the other one and yikes when we went in there was toilet roll all over the floor and their was urine all over the seat, the seat was wobbly and was so dirty, very dusty and unclean. The state off that toilet/ bathroom was unacceptable. Surely you have cleaners?? It was 9:45 on a Sunday morning so it should have been clean. I hope next time we come it’s a bit cleaner.

Positive experience: We went to the Wigan Beer festival,which is at the Robin Park leisure centre. A great venue, even though it's a good walk from the town centre. The downside is you need to pay to park.

Negative experience: Been a member at this gym for a few years but it has really gone down hill these past couple of years and i’m thinking of cancelling my membership. There are barely any instructor led classes for people who work full time so can only attend in the evening. They think they are doing you a favour putting on a virtual class which speaking to other members the majority do not like them. The cleanliness of the place is non existent, looks like they don’t even have a cleaner or can’t be bothered. The ladies toilets are disgusting all the time. I feel as though the staff do not care about their paying members as long as the money is coming in and they do not seem happy in their jobs. It’s a shame if money was put into this facility it could thrive. Why don’t you try to encourage fitness instructors to join your facility with a decent incentive.

Positive experience: Lovely centre, plenty of parking. My daughter goes here for gymnastics and the set up is great with well trained instructors. The reception staff are always on hand to help with enquires, very kind and informative. I have recently moved gyms and will look forward to accessing the services the Borough has to offer. The gyms look quite small but seem to have a lot to offer although I have not had the experience of training in them yet. Maintenance and cleaning seems a lot better compared to my old gym though. Only issue with this particular centre is the smell in the corridors. I'm not sure if there is a water leak issue but it can be pretty awful at times. The parking can also become a little crazy when there are events on, however there is plenty of parking around the centre that has free parking for a number of hours so not really an issue.

Fantastic experience: The sport centre is massive, hard to find if you haven't been there before. Me and my son went to the Wigan comiCON,and it was brilliant,packed and full of stales selling film props to comics to all kinds of great geeky stuff . Some celebrities there, looked like they had better things to do , and there attitudes showed. But other than that , recommend highly 1st time there ,will definitely be going back

Positive experience: This was my first experience at Robin Park &was there as a COVID steward, initially I was disappointed to find that it was a pay/display car park as I was there as a volunteer, fortunately a staff member issued me with a day pass & enjoyed the time spent there ( 4 hrs) & looking forward to returning for 2 more sessions

Positive experience: Came for my Covid jab. Paid £2 for parking and the ticket had a refund voucher attached. However, they no longer ‘do that’. I was told the sign explained but I only read the large writing. You need to go to reception and get a free ‘day pass’ and then parking is free. Worth knowing

Negative experience: Cleanliness at Robin Park is the worst. Despite constant requests to do various things ie top up toilet roll or empty bins, most staff have an aversion to cleaning. I have personally emptied bins for staff and deposited bin bags at their feet literally, as a paying member. There's been a soiled sanitary pad untouched behind the bin in the ladies WC for FOUR days now. It's unacceptable and not what we pay our membership for... staff are lovely however, and the only reason I keep coming. It's certainly not for their hygiene rating which is below zero. I'm sure I'm not the only thinking this but I would like to see the equipment and facilities cleaned on a DAILY basis like other facilities such as Ashton and Standish which are impeccably clean.

Negative experience: Not very impressed. Went to sports hall got parking ticket. Had a pass but incorrectly got told no need to put in car. Signage is poor. All in all not worth the hassle as parking attendants know motorists will get confused, therefore easy prey. Edit. Still don't rate above 1 star, but they did cancel the parking ticket in the end. Nobody needs this sort of hassle though, so why go there.
