NRG Gym Sheffield

Fantastic experience: Such a great gym and amazing price! I love it here. You won't get access to the vast amount of equipment at this price in Sheffield. Downstairs has got platforms and loads of space for my workout. I'm into cross training and my friends like hyrox so this is perfect. Great indoor cycling studio, stairclimbers, cables. Upstairs there is a big strength area with belt squats, hack squats, plate and pin select equipment. I found the place very clean and the staff very friendly. Changing rooms need a padlock Sauna in the changing room as well Ladies only classes available PT sessions available. Parking, I'd advise parking in the upper car park of Tesco and walking up. You get 3 hours of free parking. The location makes it easy for me on the ring road and easy to get back onto the M1 after. I'd recommend it. Just go down and see the guys. I'm sure you can try the place first. Daytime was when I visit and easy to get onto equipment

The staff have created a very welcoming environment. Location and parking is good. Overall its been a very positive experience so far.

Negative experience: Come to this gym if u want to pay and get stranded outside the gym as your membership doesn’t work. The app tells u to contact reception, but reception is nowhere to be seen after 10pm Their new system doesn’t seem to be working too well. Also what gym shuts their locker rooms leaving u with no where to place your valuables.

Negative experience: Do not pay for this gym. I pay £20 a month for the doors to decide whether it feels like letting me in. Today I travelled so far for the gym to decide to not let me in. They try being over the top with the scan in system but can’t invest in one that works properly.

Negative experience: 2 days in a row it’s not let me scan my QR code to get in and i’ve seen this happen to many other members. No management staff at night to help, so sent an email last night which wasn’t replied to and then it happened again today. If one of your selling points is the 24 hour access at least allow 24 hour access the old pin system needs to come back especially considering the fact that if your phone dies you can’t scan the QR code to get out. Been here 10 months and it’s really started to drop off after they starting closing changing rooms after 12. Members leave weights on the machines all the time which isn’t the gyms fault but they don’t do much to stop it except for some posters dotted around the gym telling you to put your weights back. Decent machines and dumbbell rack though and they’ve always got challenges on where you can win things but just a shame about the other stuff.

Negative experience: I have been going to this gym since the opening it was good until they released their new app login system, this system sometimes goes down and I came on a late day and logged in however the system was down and I couldn't get in their was also no staff also if your inside the gym and ur phone dies u won't even be able to get out without fire exit and that might get you charged a hefty price BRING BACK THE OLD CODE SYSTEM

Negative experience: Awful smell of the toilets and men’s changing room which I went in and thought it was womens, no asssitance whatsoever. I was waiting til 6.30 am for assistance. A colleague stated no one will be with you until 7am. There should be a sign written on the wall to state this. Worst first experience ever. I’m sorry to say won’t be visitint here again.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, great equipment and great people.. Only thing I don't like is the none controllable hot showers especially when you want it colder and you can't, and the aweful music in the sauna you can't relax. Apart from that it's awesome.

Positive experience: NRG Staff are fab, friendly and approachable. The equipment is fantastic. HOWEVER: I would strongly urge the gym to start ensuring customers put their weights back, stop slamming/throwing plates on the floor, and respecting the changing rooms. Basically, clean theit mess up. They need to be pulled up with action taken accordingly as it's ruining the experience for those of us who respect our surroundings and fellow members. This most definitely isn't a one off either as I have been observing this for a good few months and the lack of respect for the facilities is becoming consistently worse. These particular customers,or maybe heathen is a more apt term, are ruining the experience. There should be consequences as per the notices.

Positive experience: Solid gym top tier hammer strength equipment a nice change from other gyms cheap equipment open 24/7 a big plus. ngl best gyms in the UK by far in terms of the quality of the weight lifting machines and free weights. Always room for improvement keep it up NRG gyms love 2 see it

Negative experience: Decent gym but I will never ever leave a positive review for any company who asks its members to forcefully leave reviews. Seems like this PT by the name “Usman” has done exactly that! Whats the point? If people feel like you are worthy and deserving of a review they will do it of their own back but when you have numerous accounts with one or two reviews who are singing your praises one by one its blatant you have begged them to leave a review to look good on yourself. Sort it out NRG dont be so desperate!

Fantastic experience: Quality equipment. Varied and up to date. Plenty of squat racks that seem to be lacking in other gyms I've been to. Good team of PTs and staff that are happy to help and guide.

Positive experience: The gym is okay there are plenty gym equipment options even equipment other gyms lack. I like that the gym is 24hours so I can finish my shift and head there at 2am. Unfortunately the gym lacks in quality when it comes to the showers, there is no cold water in the shower and the water temperature is boiling. I am a hot shower enjoyer but the water is way too hot for me to stand under. I have seen a papers about changing rooms closing at midnight from August which is a bummer for me. Another good point to add is there is no weighing scale, I have seen a small one during the day but I think they are scared it might get stolen if they leave it out? Why not buy a large smart scale and leave it there like any other gym? Also it seems like there r no staff at night as last week I waited at reception pressing the bell and knocking the door but no response

Negative experience: Terrible gym, terrible equipment. Probably a scam. Asked to cancel membership over the phone 6 months ago and the staff member obliged. They carried on taking payments for 4 months until I blocked it via my bank, and they carried on bombarding me for 2 further payments. A pjs at all costs, better gyms with better ethics around. Only seem to keep their business afloat by pulling payments at your account without permission.

Negative experience: I have been a member of most of the chain gyms and this is by far the worst . If feeling like an outsider in my own country wasn't bad enough some people that use this gym are not even potty trained. Coughing up flem in the showers and spitting it on the floor . Blowing thier nose on the floor . Coming out the sauna covered in sweat and lying down on the table that people get changed on dripping sweat every where . Never mind how busy it is and not being able to have a proper workout. I'm absolutely disgusted every time I go in at peak times . People leaving stinking stuff in the lockers over night . Basic Stuff not getting fixed like sinks in the changing rooms . Not a nice place to be which is a shame as there is some good kit .

Fantastic experience: Top Gym in Sheffield Best value for money, has a sauna in the changing rooms and top equipments needed for a decent work out Would highly recommend

Negative experience: + Decent range of equipment compared to the likes of PureGym/TheGym. + Convenient location next to Tesco Extra + The music selection has improved as of late + Staff are helpful + More disinfectant bottles have recently been added, hopefully these ones will stay full and won't vanish. - The biggest con here is the gym culture, or rather lack thereof. People don't respect the space and don't rerack their weights. The notices that threaten offenders with a fine are just for show, it seems. This week I witnessed a PT who stayed completely indifferent when a group left their weights on the rack they'd just used. Worse yet, when the PT themself and their client were done using their rack, they also left their weights on it. ***How can you expect users to rerack their weights when your own staff don't care and blatantly ignore such basic gym etiquette?!*** - There is toilet paper instead of tissue paper for wiping down equipment. It seems like the owners are trying to cut down on costs, but toilet paper residue on equipment makes it look dirtier than before cleaning. - Lockers are more often than not littered and bathroom/toilet facilities damaged/clogged/without toilet paper. I realise that this is a business out to make money like any other business, but if you tolerate members who vandalise and/or repeatedly disrespect the space, then you're just making it a worse environment for the more respectful members as well as the staff themselves.

Negative experience: They lock the changing rooms at 12 am and there are no lockers outside so u have no where to put your belongings. False promises. No free WiFi no boxing bags outside of the studio and no rig. studio is also closed at around 10pm.

Fantastic experience: Place is great, all PTs are always here to help. Jaz one of the PTs has always been willing to help and give great information. Can’t fault anything about this gym

Negative experience: I had an extremely disappointing experience at this gym. The place is filthy and poorly maintained; it's clear that cleanliness is not a priority here. On top of that, the membership practices are downright deceptive. A staff member assured us that we could cancel anytime with monthly payments, but when my partner moved to a different city and canceled the membership, they were still charged penalties! This is outrageous and completely unacceptable. Avoid this place at all costs!

Fantastic experience: The gym staff are really polite. There is a good selection of weighted equipment and a few punch bags

Negative experience: Do not recommend this Gym to ladies. Quite alarming A MALE cleaner is ENTERING the FEMALE TOILETS UNANNOUNCED. Not allowing time for women to cover up whilst getting changed. Many accounts from sisters who have complained that this man has been staring at them whilst getting changed, and made them feel VERY UNCOMFORTABLE, then becoming aggressive when confronted. COMPLAINTS WERE MADE TO MANAGEMENT however ALL accounts were dismissed, and even resulted in sister’s memberships being cancelled instantly without permission. I personally know the sister whose membership was cancelled allegedly due to physical abuse of staff. THIS IS A LIE! She responded to Male cleaner’s aggression, with patience and communication ONLY. She would not even hurt a fly and the kindest girl I know. And she as a Muslim - would not be allowed to touch a non-mahram male for starters. BOYCOTT THIS GYM. Absolutely horrified and the systemic racism and lack of tolerance towards women practicing their faith in observing hijab. Please take a look at their response to other sisters who have complained in the reviews, how they gaslight them, which only highlights their ways. I was going to start this gym with a few sisters after hearing there was a large female gym area but due to the narcissism of the management and the aggressive nature of their cleaner I am no longer going to join and stick with my current gym.

Fantastic experience: Amazing gym equipment for everything! had a pt with mark who has helped no end, he has also set me a program up and helping with my nutrition which has been a big help as im pretty new to the gym! Amazing

Negative experience: NRG Sheffield (Spital Hill). WOMEN ONLY AREA! Urgent Complaint Regarding Male Cleaners and Respect Of Privacy. The disrespect, and false accusations. I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding the lack of privacy and respect at the Sheffield NRG gym on Spital Hill, specifically related to the male cleaner entering the women-only areas unannounced. This issue has been raised with the management multiple times, yet no effective action has been taken to resolve it. On May 20, 2024, at approximately 6:30 PM, a male cleaner entered the women’s cubicle and changing rooms without prior notice. As Muslim women who observe strict guidelines about covering up, this intrusion was extremely distressing and unacceptable. Despite confronting the cleaner, his response was rude and aggressive, dismissing our legitimate concerns and suggesting that we were playing a "racist card" by complaining. We have raised this issue with the manager, on several occasions and have even suggested implementing a complaint box to address such concerns. Unfortunately, these suggestions have been ignored, and the situation remains unresolved. Furthermore, despite the unjust cancellation of my gym membership at [NRG Gym Sheffield, Spital Hill] and the continued deduction of payments from my account despite this cancellation. Despite numerous attempts to resolve this matter directly with the gym manager, through emails, phone calls, and in-person discussions, no resolution has been provided, and I believe I have been discriminated against. Moreover, payments have been deducted from my account even though my membership has been cancelled. I have no choice but to escalate the matter to external authorities!

Fantastic experience: We do boot camp every Wednesday with Mark and the class are great. Mark makes the session very enjoyable. I have appreciated his enthusiasm and willingness to support me and answer any of my concerns or support in areas that I can improve. Fantastic experience: Having a coach is massive. Even if you think you know what you need to do, the power of accountability is huge. Usman is super supportive, very knowledgeable, and quick to respond to any questions throughout the week. The weekly feedback videos never fail to inspire, and two months in I’m seeing great progress in terms of weight loss, strength and muscle gain. Highly recommended USMAN! Keep the hard work up mate!

Fantastic experience: Great gym first time trying it out , it was spacious, clean , nice layout to all the machines . Female only zone as well was a nice touch . The staff was super helpful and friendly. Definitely would be coming here again on the next trip !

Fantastic experience: This gym is extremely well equipped with some of the best kit I’ve seen. I’ve had several encounters with Mark, such a decent guy, he showed me around the gym and got me signed up as a member when I first came. He also helped me perfect my RDL’s so cheers mate.

Fantastic experience: The staff are so helpful at NRG, bumped into Mark who is also a PT there, he came over when he saw me struggling with my pull ups and gave me some tips on how to improve. This was really friendly of him to do so, considering he wasn’t on shift. I’ve also recently been enjoying his bootcamp class which I’d recommend to anyone, not only does he make it fun but working out doesn’t feel like a chore.

Negative experience: Gym is subpar and workers are often rude very unclean and they are also untruthful they promised boxing bags and the bags are still never come.LIARS I recommend everyone to stay away.

Fantastic experience: Would thoroughly recommend a PT session with Jude. Takes into consideration your goals, whatever that might be, and tailors a great session for you. He's friendly and approachable but also challenges you where you need to be pushed. He's made me feel more comfortable in the gym and went above and beyond to show me all the equipment and how to use it so I feel confident using new machines in my own workouts.

Fantastic experience: I have been to many gyms but this gym is very good and value for money, all classes they offer are inclusive of the membership so no extra charge, I have been to hot boxing - forgot the instructors name is a really good intense workout ,Zumba instructor Anita is also good, it was my first Zumba class and I enjoyed it and ladies only HIIT, instructor Naz gave us a proper intense workout bringing out the best in me, very sweaty session lol, all three instructors are professional and easy going, make you work hard in their sessions and make it enjoyable at the the same time, totally recommend this gym

Fantastic experience: Thanks to NRG for establishing this gym and the instructors are all amazing and are expertise in their areas of training. I have enjoyed Coach Naz for her consistent motivation and inspiration during her classes on Friday. She is one of my best trainer in the game. I have always look forward to her classes and she also brings new things for us to utilize during exercise. Also, I love Coach Manal for been helpful in showing me how to use the machines. I look forwards for her new training coming up next week. To everyone both my colleagues in gym and my coaches you guys are amazing

Fantastic experience: Ladies only HIIT by Naaz is fantastic, I really love it everything I come for her class, her classes are always different every time I attend.

Fantastic experience: I have been training with Manal for the last two weeks, she is an amazing role model. She is very clear and concise when explaining each exercise and is very supportive and encouraging. I have really enjoyed the learn to lift but sadly the sessions are being stopped due to low numbers. I really hope they change their mind and continue but my overall feel of the gym is that everyone is very respectful of each other and as a female I don't ever feel unwelcome, judged or out of place.

Fantastic experience: Been training here for around 3 months now. Great gym for me! Everyone seems really friendly staff and other gym goers, staff seem to work hard to keep the gym clean and the weights in order. I don't know if it's possible but I would love to see a cold plunge in the gym!

Negative experience: The gym toilets smell there’s cigarettes I have seen in the gym on the toilet, it is supposed to be a 24hour gym but the studio has been locked after 9pm and the sauna it is very disappointing to see I’m thinking about revoking my membership and moving to pure gym in Meadowhall

Fantastic experience: This is the best gym I’ve been to so far. I’ve been to JD and Pure Gym but this is definitely the best. They have a dedicated female only area with a lot of equipment. Their equipment is modern and up to date, especially their treadmills. Their treadmills make it much easier to run faster and further. The team are extremely nice and friendly too. Their weight training equipment is also amazing, and also have a lateral pull down machine in the female only area. Would highly recommend this gym.

Negative experience: No boxing bags, no Wi-Fi and the studio is locked at around 9pm. I am very disappointed as I joined hoping to see them fulfil these promises. I have been waiting patiently for 4 months i am very dissatisfied. No other gym in the city closes their studios.

Fantastic experience: After having tried a few gyms across Sheffield, I absolutely love NRG. Hadiqa and the team are super helpful, always at your disposal and receptive to feedback. At 24h gyms, the staffed hours are usually quite minimal but here there is staff around all day long, until 10pm. Makes a huge difference. There are a lot of cleaning stations available. The machines and weight training section is actually larger than the cardio section which makes sense. There are so many different machines available. Multiple styles of leg press, leg extension, etc so you’re not limited to only one machine. I’ve been at different times of day and never had to wait for a machine. Some members don’t tidy up or put weights away but the team are usually pretty quick to sort it out. I don’t use it so often but there is also a women’s only section with actual weights, and machines, rather than just a thigh abductor/adductor which most gyms women’s only area usually consists of.

Fantastic experience: This gym is exceptionally clean. The sauna is a really good add on and I’m really happy with the huge variety of classes, I used to pay for pilates separately at a different venue but now it is all included in my gym membership. Jaz, who is assistant manager there helped me book the classes and download the app as I’m not the best with technology, thank you!

Fantastic experience: Great gym! With great equipment! & great PT’s. PT Usman’s knowledge of anatomy and physiology is astonishing he has been able to take me from having a 3 year lower back injury to now feeling stronger than I ever have. I was ignorant for all these years about needing a PT but I can confidentially say that Usman has saved my life and I would highly recommend him to anyone thinking about a PT. (Only downside is he supports Liverpool)
