JD Gyms Hartlepool

Negative experience: Lots of changes, cancellations & disruptions to classes. Tried to freeze my membership whilst this was sorted out. Was not able to as I needed to give 2 weeks notice. Asked for flexibility as some of the classes were cancelled 2 mins after they were due to start & this was not on the website. The upshot is that I am expected to be patient & flexible, J D do not reciprocate (or refund parking when they cancel without warning) l. Pure Gym has just opened with half the monthly membership free & free parking.....just saying!

Negative experience: Canceled my membership over a month ago. Ridiculously slow to acknowledge my request to cancel probably to fleece another months payment out of me. In to second month now and still getting requests for payments. Same happened to my son when he cancelled. It’s seems to be the norm for this company.

Fantastic experience: Great value gym

Negative experience: Me and my wife signed up for a membership and made the payment on Sunday, the 14th. I downloaded the app, which is required to generate a code for gym access, but it wouldn't work. I called the helpline repeatedly, but no one ever answered despite trying for 9 days. Finally, on Tuesday, the 24th, we went to the gym in person. The staff informed us that the app only works when connected to their internet. After 15 minutes of troubleshooting, they finally got the app to work, and we were able to access the gym. However, we effectively lost 10 days of access that we had already paid for.

Fantastic experience: Just visited this gym for the first time and was extremely pleased with my experience. Great equipment, friendly atmosphere but most importantly the staff member that helped me with my visit was absolutely fantastic. Friendly, helpful, kind and so welcoming. i was so impressed i asked for the staff members name, Thankyou Kendal you are a credit to your workplace. Matt

Negative experience: No one answers the phone at the gym no matter what time it is

Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym! been going for a while now and really enjoying it, by far the best gym I’ve been to. It’s kept clean all around the gym, excellent choice of equipment and staff are friendly. I’d definitely recommend to anyone looking to start a gym or in need of a new gym

Positive experience: Clean and tidy, but the choice of music is horrendous, and is there really any need for it to be so loud we gave up trying to communicate with one another in the end

Negative experience: Worst gym ever! Cancelled my membership 3 weeks ago and still is taking payments of me and has happened in the past as well. Always too busy never able to do anything.

Positive experience: Good gym but not great need more leg extension machines only one decent one and it always seems to be used not enough benches in mens changing room locker handles are poor and the entry system is a pain also due to the lack of free parking at the gym I may need to change to the gym group if the charges increase in April

Positive experience: Decent setup, maintenance team are a little slow to repair or replace damaged items and christ they need a new plumber the drink stations look like an apprentice did them on his first day.

Fantastic experience: Great gym with a huge selection of equipment and machines with something for every type of fitness or training style. There's a good friendly vibe in the gym and the staff are really helpful. I was just in Hartlepool for a couple of days doing a course and they kindly let me have a free trial. I'll hopefully find a JD gym to join closer to home.

Positive experience: Been going here for about 5 weeks now. I found my confidence in this gym all the people are so lovely and I love how kind the workers are. It’s clean and spacious.

Positive experience: I've been a JD member for a few years now, and it was my first time at the Hartlepool gym, traditional dark gym, no annoying light in your face in this one, which I actually liked, very clean, spacious and well laid out, loved training here today, I'll see you soon JD Hartlepool

Negative experience: Same old same old vapping in men's changing rooms 4 or 5 young lads at it again I asked one why come to train then start vaping in here but there just out them back in pockets I have notice you have put a sign up about training attire no work clothes etc etc then why did I get told you could not put a sign about vapping by the way some of these kids are under age for the I just hope I haven't caught a chest infection from this vapping

Fantastic experience: Very peaceful and professional space to burn lots of calories. Plenty of machines available to workout.

Fantastic experience: Just what you need for a Gym

Positive experience: I do think gym class times could be re-looked over. Unsociable times for evening classes ie most favourable by many would be BPump class which is 7 - 8pm. 5-30 class would suit so many people with families.

Fantastic experience: A nice big gym over two floors with plenty of equipment open 24 hours these are just a few photos of the upstairs which is the free weight section the down stairs is cardio free weights spinning room for classes and gym area for classes and there's a ladies only gym area that's private in case any ladies like to train with just ladies plus on to of all that it's always clean and warm the showers are great plenty of hot water and it's 24 hours a day all for 20 pound a month it costs you more to shower at home for a month

Fantastic experience: Pretty decent gym for the price. Got lots of equipment in so ya not fighting for anything when ya go. I haven't been at peak times yet tho so don't quote me on that comment

Fantastic experience: Never stepped foot in a gym for years looked at a couple but jd was for me and my partner. Got shown around the place after a visit, and liked what we seen. So signed up and had a session on Friday night was nice and quiet. Nice and clean good equipment and no judgemental gym goers as you see in other gyms.

Fantastic experience: I haven’t stepped foot into a gym in about 5 years and i was wanting to get back into it but I wasn’t happy with the gyms in Hartlepool, then 2 weeks later JD Gym was announced. I signed up, came on the opening day and i have now been going 4 days a week. There is equipment for everything and everyone and its so easy to use! I’m a little intimidated by the free weights section upstairs so I've stuck to the cardio, weights and ladies gym section as i feel more comfortable there and honestly its crazy how much more confident i have gotten, i have even came up with my own workout schedule. The gym is kept clean, staff and members are all so friendly, theres so many machines, the qr code to enter is very safe, the vending machines are great (i bought a padlock and so many water bottles), the changing rooms are great too. One thing I have not tried are any of the classes and thats just because they arent great times for me unfortunately. One thing though is that i do feel like theres not enough staff around, atleast downstairs. Theres been a few occasions where i wanted to try a piece of equipment but had no idea how to use it and i couldnt see any staff so i just sat for 5 mins and googled it, but potentially that is because i went at an off peak time. Overall, im really enjoying my experience at JD Gym and would recommend it to anyone, first time gym goers or elite medalists! I will definitely not be cancelling my membership and looking forward to the gym opening up to 24hours!

Negative experience: If you want a gym that costs over £40 a month with parking who has machines out of order all the time this is the gym for you. We pay a fee to use the gym and then pay for machines we cant use. 4 odd machines out of action in 2 weeks. Not forgetting the toilets that are never clean Cant recommend this gym

Fantastic experience: WOW, WHAT A TRANSFORMATION! Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t a bad gym before. But this conversion into a JD Gyms has taken this place to another level! The first thing you notice is that they’ve replace the tired yellow and grey décor into this funky black and neon green. And the next thing you’ll notice is that they’ve utilized the space a lot better. Even though it’s the same floor space, there’s a lot more kit and it’s in a much better layout. I particularly like the Cardio area, which is nicely arranged. And they’ve also kept most of the weights area upstairs, so if you are intimidated by the muscly types, they’re kept out of the way. I’m looking forward to the new and improved classes, especially in the all new Spin studio, which looks mega. Oh and they’ll also be a 24 hour gym soon, which suits me just fine. Overall, this is easily the best gym in Hartlepool. For the price you’re paying – it’s a no brainer for a 24/7 gym.
