Our comment from FitFit UK about Walton-on-the-Naze Lifestyles:
Walton-on-the-Naze Lifestyles is a charming leisure center located in the picturesque town of Walton On The Naze, United Kingdom. Users have praised the friendly and helpful staff who maintain a clean and welcoming environment. The center boasts a lovely pool with warm water, which is ideal for families. Many visitors enjoy the great atmosphere and the range of facilities available.
However, some users have expressed concerns regarding the operation of certain amenities. The water slide is often only open for limited periods, which has disappointed some children and parents alike. Additionally, there have been issues with hot water in the showers, raising hygiene concerns. A few visitors have mentioned overcrowding during busy times, suggesting that more efficient management of session times could enhance the experience.
Despite these challenges, the center remains a popular choice for local families, offering activities such as swimming lessons and kiddie parties. Many users highlight the affordability of entry fees, making it accessible for everyone.
In summary, Walton-on-the-Naze Lifestyles is a well-loved spot for leisure activities with a particularly family-friendly focus, although improvements in facility management would elevate the overall experience.
Walton-on-the-Naze Lifestyles: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Love it there. Friendly and helpful staff. Always clean. Great atmosphere and facilities.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful, pool water nice and warm, and the slide was fantastic.
Positive experience: Lady in the front desk was really friendly. They only put the slide on for 15 minutes an hour not sure why nit of a kill joy tbh. 2 45 came and no slice on eventually was put on about 2.50, and then at about 2 minutes to 3 they wouldn't let my son down the slide because (bear in mind it is not big) they said he wouldn't be down it by 3om even though, they started it late and had not given 15 minutes. Absolute kill joys. Then they decided to clean all of the main changing cubicles and I was really angry I had some fabric bags on the floor with my clothes in and the women was pushing all water beside it. I had to grab my bags really quickly. I wish I had complained tbh.
Fantastic experience: Lovely interesting small town.
Fantastic experience: Nice pool friendly staff
Negative experience: There is currently no hot water or showers available, and has not been for a few weeks now, meaning that any persons using the toilets have to wash their hands with cold water or probably not at all ! . I think this unhealthy and unhygienic and I can’t see how this place is still open to the public and I bet there won’t be any refunds given to members not being able to shower after using the gym or swimming pool. The receptionist said that this issue will not be resolved for a few weeks. I would consider another place to use but certainly not Lifestyles at Walton on the Naze
Fantastic experience: Marvelous Pool and Gym
Fantastic experience: Great facilities and staff
Negative experience: No showers for two weeks it’s against hygiene regulations
Positive experience: Good for childrens parties
Positive experience: Rare the baby pool is open due to staffing Freezing cold air, often windows still open Has a 1yr waiting list for 1-2-1 childrens swim classes
Fantastic experience: Lovely
Fantastic experience: Polite and friendly staff. Very clean pool, changing rooms, bathroom facilities and surroundings. Good size pool for all ages.
Fantastic experience: Lovely pool
Fantastic experience: Amazing Great place to visit plenty of things to do and places to eat
Fantastic experience: ❤️
Positive experience: Good pool, pretty clean.
Fantastic experience: Really nice small local pool, have my daughters swimming lessons here and the staff are lovely. Just beware the deep gravel overflow carpark round back. My campervan buried itself... Whoops, my bad.
Fantastic experience: Lovely leisure centre! My granddaughter loves her swimming lessons here they have enhanced her water confidence & swimming ability.
Positive experience: We live local and use the pool regularly. The staff are mostly very helpful. However, the facilities themself are poor. There are only open showers along the side of the pool. There are 5 showers in total and only 3 working, it has been like this for months. This causes over crowding round the pool side and some life guards shout at people to get out, even if they have just queued ages to get in. It's not a good system at all. The price is good £15 for a family of 4, £3.50 for children and £5 for adults. The pool itself is small and the slide is not always open and may not open at all when you are there. You CAN NOT book online and this causes upset. You can get all ready to get there and the sessions can sell out fast. So you leave with disappointed children in tears. Other times it's not busy at all. So you have to get there early to be sure of a place. It would make it so much easier if you could just book online. There is a small car park run by the council directly at the pool. You get a two hour parking permit when you use the pool. They give it to you when you pay to put in your car.
Fantastic experience: Lane swimming the last two weeks, lovely pool, not too much chlorine to sting your eyes, (goggles to buy if you want them), not a lot of people there, very clean and tidy. Hot showers, washing facilities, hair dryers, toilets. Good car parking.
Positive experience: Lovely little pool but unfortunately flume and small pool not open again due to not enough staff to supervise. Same price even without these facilities. Nice and warm though and lady lifeguard very vigilant and good supervision for everyone.
Positive experience: Ideal if dovercourt swimming don't suit your child's timetable also staff not as friendly as dovercourt so make your choice.
Positive experience: Nice and quiet gym and pool most of the staff are great
Fantastic experience: We all had a brilliant time at the pier. Kids loved it. Pauline on tills at climbing/soft play was really helpful with a lovely smile
Fantastic experience: Majority of staff friendly, one lifeguard is miserable but generally nice enough. Only one thing that is annoying is when you are leaving there with very young children and they insist you go through turn style. That's rediculas when your children just want to run the second they are free, when staff could just open the gate. This is more so annoying as you are also carrying bags as well.
Negative experience: Visited 5 times before leaving a fair review. Each time visited in public swimming times. Flume has been opened twice for 5 minutes maximum. The baby pool has never been open so my 2 year old has had nowhere to go but in my arms. Very lazy staff that can't be bothered is what I have seen, as there is enough. Two stars is for price and cleaness
Fantastic experience: Friendly, clean
Negative experience: Arrived after a 40 min drive to be told come back in an hour we're full ....
Fantastic experience: I can confirm the leisure centre is a fantastic facility, spotlessly clean and great value for money.
Positive experience: Great pool, no toilet roll in the toilets.
Fantastic experience: Had a lovely swim. Almost had the pool to ourselves. Real pleasure. Staff were amazing too x thank you
Positive experience: I've never been in but Bath house meadow is a great to park for the beach and has an excellent childrens playground
Fantastic experience: Absolutely Fantastic! My partner is currently in a wheel chair as she struggles to weight bare on her left leg due to on going surgery. She wanted to go swimming for exercise but she was a bit worried about facilities. Walton swimming pool and staff were amazing. The disabled wash room was just what she needed and the pool wheel chair was excellent!! She was so happy when she got in that water she could of cried. A massive thank you to the two lady life guards that made sure she had everything she needed. 10/10
Fantastic experience: Love the pool. Lane swimming in the morning is my favourite. Tried it at 2pm last week with the kids. Had loads of fun. Staff is very friendly and helpful
Fantastic experience: Nice and quiet at 7am as I don't like lots of people around
Fantastic experience: Fun swim for a birthday party great fun
Positive experience: It's ok as it's Walton
Positive experience: Smallish information centre with exhibits and local information and gift shop. Cafe area and toilets.
Negative experience: Awfull access system if you do not make it by opening time you have to wait an hour and 15 minutes to access the pool even when after half an hour nobody is in a pool. Slide is hardly ever open and small pool is never opened too. Clearly they should operate on numbers of people in the pool so if people leave new people should be allowed in. And as well if it opens at 12:30 why do you have to wait for next session till 13:45? Awfull management
Negative experience: Really disappointed with Walton Swimming pool today. Have been in the past & the pool, charging rooms etc are decent. However turned up today to be greeted by the the most misable & rude lady I've ever met. Couldn't even be bothered to look at at us, just muttered 'we are full, you can't come in. You've got to wait an hour'. I get that the pool was at capacity & also they may have a shortage of lifeguards. However there was no need for this lady's attitude. Also it would be useful if the website stateted the issues Walton are having with lifeguards & advised they are operating at reduced capacity. Tried to speak to the lady at Walton about this but she refused to engage with me. Said all information is on the website, however she wasn't able to direct me to it.
Hi Andy, Please can you email me on [email protected] Kind Regards Jo
Negative experience: Regular visitor to Walton-on-the-Naze but first time visiting the swimming pool. Quite disappointed really as was told they only allow a certain number of people in the pool & you only get an hour! This isn't advertised on website nor informed when went into the reception area yesterday to ask about prices! Pool was absolutely freezing cold to the point where my little one was shivering and lips went blue! Just got told they were very understaffed and couldn't give any other answers! Probably the worst look I've been to and lady on reception was quite rude!
Positive experience: Great time had with the nature walk and kids had a great time, could do with a bigger tea room but over all a very gd experience.
Negative experience: The new pier at Walton-on-the-Naze we wasn't impressed as you enter the entrance it was all dark inside as you go through to the middle Part wasn't very nice
Fantastic experience: Easy to find and park very quiet when we attended reasonably priced friendly staff will return
Fantastic experience: Love this centre. Nice and quiet. Always clean. Swimming is good. Nice little gym. Staff always helpful
Positive experience: Water was cold otherwise great to swim in the pool
Fantastic experience: Good sized clean changing rooms, staff all friendly and helpful. Price was excellent and the water slide was a lot of fun too we all had fun and its a 25 meter length pool and not on the cold side either. Will go again.
Fantastic experience: Water was not cold and showers were a good temperature. every where was clean and tidy.
Fantastic experience: Granddaughter just loved the pool and the water slide. Reasonable cost
Negative experience: The pool was cold the sild was only open for 15 minutes out of the hour my daughter fell over and the lifeguard didn't even ask if she was would not go again
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff always clean and tidy. Feel safe.
Fantastic experience: Nice clean place and very good staff
Fantastic experience: Friendly place to exercise, pool is good quality and the gym isn't terrible for cardio workouts, limited weight training selection though but does the job. Really friendly place to workout.
Fantastic experience: Lovely
Fantastic experience: Clean facilities
Fantastic experience: Excellent
Positive experience: Good pool. Clean enough, helpful staff. It was just a shame the flume was only open for a short amount of time.
Fantastic experience: Love it, so peaceful
Fantastic experience: Good swimming pool with very good and clean facilities. There is a large number of staff on site, which aid for every situation
Fantastic experience: Joined the gym and pool as I'm temporarily living in Walton, but there's currently 25% off monthly membership costs so upgraded to the Lifestyles plus package which gives me access to Clacton leisure centre too. The Walton pool isn't too busy in the mornings, lane swimming with about ten people. All good so far, looking forward to hitting the gym later.
Positive experience: The pool is nice and staff (though short staffed) were nice. Only had 2 disabled changing rooms and one had no lock on it and half of lockers seemed broken and didn't lock also look old and battered. 3 things I'd change 1. lockers to new bigger lockers, 2. Actually fix locks on doors and 3 have more staff so they can have more customers as to reduce disappointment.
Thank you for your feedback, the lockers and doors have been raised with a company who will be fixing these over the coming weeks, sorry for the delay the initial plans for before the summer had to be changed by the company. We look forward to you being able to enjoy the fixed locks and doors in due course
Fantastic experience: Sons has swimming lessons here. Staff are always kind and helpful
Fantastic experience: Lovely pool great facilities, really clean
Fantastic experience: Daughter's first swimming lesson Very impressed with staff and establishment
Fantastic experience: Clean and friendly
Fantastic experience: A pretty good gym with a good range of equipment albeit limited at the moment due to our beloved government's current diktat. Out of the many gyms I have frequented over the years thus is one of the most pleasant to work off that extra bottle of wine in
Positive experience: A bit run down, unfortunately. In my opinion.
Fantastic experience: Walton is an amazing community where people are nice , polite, friendly and smile...love the town market spirit...love this place
Positive experience: Up on the Naze by the tower or down on the sand for a picnic & a paddle lovely
Fantastic experience: Lovely sandy beach vey relaxing and gelreat for the kids
Fantastic experience: I was greeted with kindness patience honesty and positive regard to solving my membership queries
Fantastic experience: Water very warm
Fantastic experience: Great swimming pool for the grandchildren. It is a good idea on those wet days. Staff very helpful and friendly..
Positive experience: Nice to visit
Fantastic experience: Great pool nice and clean
Positive experience: We visit the swimming pool when on holiday. Its great for kids with baby pool and shallow end. The water is warm. At certain times they have kids toys out and floats and noodles. (Check website for details). Sometimes its busy but most of time when we go its relatively quiet. It has baby changing facilities in 2 of its changing cubicles. Changing rooms are clean, warm showers and friendly staff. A great local community pool.
Fantastic experience: All The life guards are so nice n friendly n helpful to me n my disabled child .. he enjoyed every minute he was there
Fantastic experience: Nice relaxing swim
Fantastic experience: Great swimming pool fit for all ages and the gym has all the necessary facilities. The staff are helpful and proactive when needed.
Fantastic experience: Love Walton on the Naze
Fantastic experience: Great for a peaceful walk and a nice coffee and cake in the tower after taking in the stunning views of the coastline and multicolored beach huts.
Negative experience: gym has been downgraded, limited range of old clacton gym cast off equipment, lesser range of exercise available on past their best equipment. Shame but a rubbish gym to visit now. TDC prefer people to go to Clacton.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this place been every year since 1962 be if for weeks or days, never missed a year, full of wonderful childhood memories and adult memories too
Fantastic experience: Lovely and clean , and no dogs
Fantastic experience: W0nderful
Fantastic experience: Love it
Fantastic experience: Loved it with the rest of the family and we all had fun diving and sliding down the slide but the problem was that it wasn't open much so 1 recommendation is that they open that more.
