Fantastic experience: Review for Charly Berckmans at David Lloyd North Finchley: After moving into a new neighbourhood, I was eager to find a local gym that fit my lifestyle. David Lloyd in North Finchley immediately stood out, not only for its close proximity—just a minute away from my new home—but also for its reputation. From the very start, Charly made the entire process seamless and welcoming. Despite my ever-changing schedule, Charly showed incredible patience and understanding, always accommodating me with a positive attitude. He communicated promptly and clearly via email before we met, which already set a great tone. When we finally connected, Charly was friendly, warm, and genuinely passionate about his role. He took the time to show me around the gym, answered all my questions thoroughly, and made sure I felt at ease. His transparent communication style and personable approach really shone through, and it was clear he enjoys not only his job but also meeting and helping people. What struck me most was how Charly went beyond his role. Negative experience: Terrible place, the gym floor was so dirty and messy that I couldn’t even do my workout. You would expect much more when you pay premium amount for your membership. I cancelled my membership after 3 days. The one in cricklewood is much better

Negative experience: Terrible visit today. I used to be a member and I came today as a guest. They insisted on downloading the app but their WiFi didn’t work and customer service said it was not their problem and I had to go back in cold weather to download the app outside of the club. Once done, it was not pulling through the guest pass and the customer service said it was my problem. Long discussion and I was told to just go through the gate which made the whole 15 minutes discussion pointless as I had shown the guest pass and he could see it on the system. In the gym there was limited weight training and resistance training machines. There was no club workers on the shop floor. Weights thrown all over the place which were trip hazards. No wonder if you know about corporate negligence court cases of DL over the years. No tissues in tissue boxes to clean machines. Terrible odor in the gym. Carpets dirty I’m glad that I made the decision to stop my membership a few months ago, when the Personal Trainer managed to damage my shoulder and the gym argued that I should pay my notice period! Dave your money and don’t ever go or join an overpriced gym.

Negative experience: If you want to get intimated by a man barging past you for the plunge pool and then speaking profanities when you spend more than a minute in there. This is your place.

Negative experience: Ive been traveling in Thailand for 7 months, come back after 2 month in David Lloyds i have 2 verruca's even after wearing flip flops! Every time you go into changing rooms cleaners are sitting down on there phones, listening to music or talking on phone, putting all their cleaning equipment in the best lockers? aswell as some customers leaving there items in lockers all the time? Staff are all very friendly but as for high end spa this is extremally poorly cleaned. Had a free PT experience that lasted only 40 mins? not good value for money.

Positive experience: The club is oversubscribed. I signed up with my whole family as I loved the idea of all the children’s activities and the racquet sports. The reality is that it’s permanently busy and hard to book anything. Even on a Monday lunchtime. The adult classes I went to weren’t good enough quality - I have done Pilates for years, so know when a class is good or not. I felt like I was taking myself through the motions and learning nothing in the classes at David Lloyd. Each class is also completely full - with more people than I usually see in classes at yoga centres, etc. Having said that, my children really enjoyed the football, but felt the other children’s classes were a bit pointless - instead of being about fitness, they were childcare and my kids are 8 and 10 and want more than childcare - they want to do sports. The pool area and spa are excellent, though. I decided to cancel my membership within the two week cooling off period. I was a bit reluctant because I really enjoyed the tennis and badminton and the pool, but decided it wasn’t good value for money (for my whole family it was over £500 a month) as I don’t use the actual gym, I like classes - and the classes weren’t good enough so I’d end up paying to go elsewhere for my yoga / Pilates. But trying to get anyone to take my call and then refund me within my cooling off period was PAINFUL. When they finally did, they sent me the wrong amount and I’m still in conversation with them trying to get the rest of my refund. (Also - when you flick through the positive reviews - they all mention the names of sales staff. A bit fishy: can’t help but wonder if they were written by people who were being incentivised to leave a positive review…?)

Negative experience: Terrible Experience - Avoid David Lloyd Finchley Customer service at David Lloyd Finchley is appalling. They lure you in with friendly service before you join, but as soon as you sign the contract, their true colors emerge. They have zero interest in providing even a basic level of customer care. Coming from Third Space, which is a genuinely premium experience, I deeply regret joining David Lloyd simply because it was closer to home. The 12-month contract feels like a trap, and the staff - from reception to the crèche and restaurant - are consistently rude and unhelpful. They treat members with complete disregard, which is unacceptable considering the high membership fees. The gym's hygiene is atrocious, with facilities often unclean, making the experience far from the "premium" they claim to offer. What's worse, I will NEVER trust the crèche team with my child again. Their lack of professionalism and care is shocking and completely unacceptable. For any parent, this is an unforgivable issue. For the same price, Third Space is significantly cleaner, better equipped, and staffed by professionals who actually care about their members. David Lloyd Finchley pales in comparison, and it's shocking how little they offer for what they charge. I cannot wait for better gyms like Third Space to expand further. Once they do, I'm certain people will leave places like David Lloyd Finchley in droves. I've managed to get out of my contract, and I'll never return. For anyone considering joining, save your money and avoid the stress. You've been warned! Sincerely, A former member who will never return.

Negative experience: I am writing as a long-time member of your facility—over 15 years, During this time, I’ve seen many changes, but I must express my growing dissatisfaction with the current state of the gym. 1. Rising Prices: The continuous increase in membership fees has become unreasonable, especially when the service quality does not match the cost. 2. Maintenance Issues: Many machines, such as the sole equipment, are either non-functional or in poor condition. At the stean room the tap for water is broken 8/12 months of the year This is unacceptable for a facility that charges premium rates. They cant even supply you with wristban…. How bad is that even though you have to pay !!! 3. Cleanliness Standards: The gym has become increasingly dirty, making it an unpleasant environment to work out in. Hygiene is a basic expectation for any fitness facility. 4. Customer Care: As a loyal member, I feel that customer feedback is not valued. There seems to be little concern for members’ experiences or their loyalty to the gym. I strongly urge you to address these issues. If the current state of the gym persists, I may have to consider ending my membership and exploring alternatives. I hope you take this feedback seriously and make necessary improvements to uphold the standards expected from a facility with such long-standing.

Negative experience: Hi there I join david loyds as diamond member just cause I wanted higher level of customer service! Satuarday night wanted to use my guest pass but the gate didn’t open by my guest pass, the reception lady (Hele) shouted very aggressively and so rude so impolite in front of so many people around us that wait!!!!! How are you going to passScheduled again your guest pass!!! It was such like arresting a serial killer or drug diller ! Hele was so rude and didn’t have not enough civilised behaviour!!!! We’re not living in a jungle to shout!!!! If david loyds charges me diamond member ship, my minimum expectation is : to be welcomed by reception!!!! They can talk more politely n calmly! It’s the minimum expectation! You can hire polite n nice people for reception not some rude angry tired uncivilised people! I’m so angry about your reception by the name of (Hele) for her rude disgusting dirty behaviour with me infront of so many people I don’t wanna continue my membership and i want to cancle my membership ASAP Hope you be responsible to this message

Negative experience: Horrible service to customers. Creche won’t let your child in if you’re 10 minutes late as it “disturbs the session”. We pay over £290 for this place and it’s absolutely ridiculous the way they treat their customers. Time to cancel!

Negative experience: I am extremely disappointed with my experience at David Lloyd Finchley. My son was refused entry to the creche class because I was "20 minutes late," even though there is apparently a 5-minute late rule that I was never informed of. There were no signs or prior communication about this policy, and it's frustrating because I’m paying for the service – it’s not a school where attendance is strict. They're still getting paid for the full hour, so why penalize me for being a few minutes late? The explanation I received was that kids might get upset when the door is opened for latecomers, but my experience at the Hatfield branch was completely different. They were far more lenient and understanding, showing more care for parents. I wasn’t informed about this “5-minute rule” when I signed up, nor was I told about the settlement class being free of charge. When I asked for a refund, I was ignored and told to contact another branch, even though I signed up at Finchley. What’s even more frustrating is the lack of empathy for parents dealing with last-minute emergencies. For example, if a child has an accident and you’re late, there seems to be zero understanding or consideration for that. The staff's attitude made me feel like they are more focused on making money than genuinely caring about parents or children. It’s also funny that they enforce this "5-minute rule" so strictly, yet if you're *five minutes early*, they will make you wait outside with no acknowledgment, and they won’t open the door until the exact scheduled time. But GOD FORBID you are late – that’s apparently a completely different story. The creche team clearly hate their jobs and look miserable I cannot trust this creche team to look after my son, hence why I have now quit David Lloyds gym completely and will be going elsewhere

Fantastic experience: I recently joined David Lloyd Finchley and was given a tour by Kud. Kud came across professional, friendly, and knowledgeable about the club, making the entire experience seamless and enjoyable. He made the tour engaging and personal, tailoring it to my interests and answering all my questions with patience (which I had many!). Highly reccomend anyone going for a tour to request if Kud can take the lead!

Negative experience: The worst experience I’ve ever had with a gym. I signed up for a plan at David Lloyd intending to use it for only a few months. At the time, I was advised by the gym staff that I could cancel my membership once I left the country. I trusted what they told me, but now I feel deceived. Currently, I am not in the country and therefore cannot use the gym. Even so, they continue to charge my card monthly, with no flexibility for cancellation. I’ve already been charged for two months without using the facilities, and despite several attempts to contact them, the team offers no solution or support. I feel that this situation shows a complete lack of respect for the customer. I would not recommend this gym to anyone, as they clearly do not care about resolving customer issues and effectively trap people in unfair contracts.

Negative experience: I’ve been a loyal member of David Lloyd Finchley for a while now, and after two recent, utterly disappointing experiences, I feel compelled to leave this review. The management and staff, particularly Seana, the manager, have shown a complete lack of professionalism, care, and respect for their members. Incident 1: Locker Theft & Total Lack of Support My first incident occurred when my locker was broken into, and my watch, ring, cash and my car keys were stolen. I immediately informed the staff and was shocked to receive **zero attention or support**. No one seemed to care about the theft, and I didn’t feel that my concerns were taken seriously at all. Despite being a long-time paying member, I was left to deal with the aftermath on my own. To make matters worse, the manager, was completely unhelpful and dismissive when I tried to bring the issue to her attention. There was no effort made to investigate the theft or even offer a basic level of support. It felt as though no one at the club was concerned about the security of their members or their property. Incident 2: Guest Entry Refused – Rude and Uncompromising The second incident was equally frustrating. I had a guest who arrived an hour early for entry, and when I went to speak with the staff, I was met with **rudeness and an uncompromising attitude** the receptionist was unhelpful and careless I asked to speak with the manger for whom I waited over 20 minutes to come. Seana the manager took the matter far too seriously, made me wait for an extended period of time, and when she finally addressed the situation, she refused to let my guest in — simply because they were an hour early, something I wasn’t aware of. There was no attempt to find a reasonable solution or show any flexibility, and her tone was unnecessarily harsh. Given that I’m paying a significant amount in membership fees, I expected better treatment and a little common sense in dealing with situations like this. Conclusion: Unprofessional Management and Lack of Care Both of these incidents highlight a serious problem at David Lloyd Finchley: **the complete lack of professionalism and empathy from the management team**. Seana’s responses to both situations were cold, unhelpful, and downright rude. The first time, when my personal property was stolen, I was ignored by both the staff and fellow members. The second time, when I was simply trying to bring in a guest, I was met with a level of hostility and a lack of flexibility that felt completely unwarranted. It’s deeply frustrating to pay high membership fees for a service that shows so little regard for its members. I won’t be renewing my membership at David Lloyd Finchley and strongly advise others to think twice before joining. If you’re looking for a gym where you’re treated with respect and where issues are handled with care, **this is not the place**.

Positive experience: I have been a member at this gym for almost 2 years now. I was a member even before those two years but found it to be overly expensive and dropped out for some months. When I decided to return they dropped all tiers, only allowing diamond tier membership which comes at a price of ~240£ per month for a yearly contract. Based on what the package offers, you could say it’s a fair amount. However, one would expect safety and security to be guaranteed at that level. The gym hosts many members and a lot of parents choose it for their children as well. Nevertheless, recently I have been exposed to rumours that thieves operate in the men’s’ lockers where the gym can’t install any cameras. Though this is a fair argument, many co-members have reported forgetting items like wallets or rackets and not being able to retrieve them (e.g. lost and found) or track them (through cameras placed elsewhere in the gym spaces). Sadly, recently I lost my wallet as well, had placed it on a treadmill and forgot it and when I came back to collect it, no one reported it at the lost and found and cameras were not covering the treadmill I was using so we don’t know what happened to it (yet, the manager confirmed seeing me walking into the gym with it—it was in a mini-bag—and leaving the gym without it). After reporting it not much changed. I even opened a case at the local police but nothing happened. I doubt an internal investigation ever took place but more than this I find it unacceptable that my security is not guaranteed at this level. I wish they had more cameras installed and that they cared a bit more to reassure and help me. Update: The bag was eventually reported into lost and found and I retrieved it but the fact that nobody reached out to me when there was a wallet in there with my full details speaks of bad management. Fantastic experience: Came into the branch and had a lovely tour by the gentleman named hussein. Fantastic experience: I've had such a positive experience with the David Lloyd Gym in Finchley. From the start, Charlie in Sales went above and beyond, not just during the sign-up process but continuing to provide support well after I became a member. His dedication truly made a difference in my experience. George, one of the personal trainers, has been incredible—she’s so understanding and supportive of my post-partum journey. Her guidance and encouragement make each session both challenging and rewarding, and she’s attentive to my personal needs and goals. The kids' area has also been a huge help. It’s well-equipped and welcoming, making it so much easier to balance fitness with family life. This facility has been a lifesaver, and I couldn’t recommend it more! Thanks to the whole team for creating such a welcoming, supportive environment!

Fantastic experience: I recently visited David Lloyd’s gym with a guest pass and had a fantastic experience! The gym area was spacious, well-maintained, and not at all crowded, making it easy to enjoy a full workout. The spa area was a highlight, with a great selection of saunas, indoor and outdoor pools (including a cold plunge pool), providing a truly relaxing experience. The indoor tennis courts were impressive, with high-quality surfaces that made for an excellent game. Overall, an amazing facility with a great variety of options for fitness and relaxation! (Apologies for pictures it’s all I have taken haha)

Negative experience: As a member of over 15 years it was a shame to see Ben Lynch back in the club who is being hidden by his mother in the kitchen! After making anti semitic and racist remarks I cannot comprehend why he is back, separate to this many members find his rather rude and unprofessional. What actually is the role of Management at DL Finchley? This is not right, completely alarming, disrespectful and shows a lack of consideration for the Jewish community. I will now re engage the previous petition to ensure he remains away from David Lloyd Finchley, this is totally unacceptable. If action is not taken I will take this back to the press to ensure the right thing is done.

Negative experience: Just O.K gym compared to other premium gyms I’ve been to, lovely spa but dirty and not well kept. Oh yh I even heard clients being asked to leave reviews how misleading and they would do it right there with the staff I couldn’t make this stuff up I’m convinced 90% of these positive reviews are fake and I can almost guarantee none of the negatives are.

Positive experience: Honest Review After 12 Month Membership I've just finished my 12 month contract at DL Finchley. Here is what I wish I would have known: Class suspensions You get suspended from booking classes after 3 cancellations in 30 days (!)-even if there is still availability for the classes-if you have a busy life, or have health issues, this could be an issue for you. SPA Guest pass costs £45!! You are told you get a free monthly guest pass-this is just to the gym. The spa is £45. This was on top of my £235 monthly membership! Unhygienic members Spitting in the spa shower. I saw this daily. People wearing actual clothes sitting in the jacuzzi. Urine smell in the steam room. Staff don't say anything. Unremarkable classes Classes are good BUT you can do most of the classess at other gyms. Most of the staff work at other clubs. I saw one instructor at Puregym! It makes you wonder what you're actually paying for? Creepy men in spa If your half decent looking be prepared to be targeted. Even when modestly dressed. I kid you not, some days I didn't go to the spa purely because I didn't want to be harassed. Kids everywhere DL is targeted at familes. Great if you have kids. Not if you don't. It's not relaxing. Don't think you can have a relaxing lunch without children running around screaming in your ear. Terrible spa staff They have the cheek to advertise drinks in the spa, but staff are never there to serve you. Also, they rarely clean the spa. If you want to use the hot beds you have to sit on other people's sweat. Overcrowded They are seriously overselling this place. Revolving door of new clients being shown around which doesn't make place feel exclusive. Horrible clientèle (Mostly) Cliquey and cold people. Don't come here expecting to make friends. Final thing...be mindful that most of the dazzling reviews are written by people that have just been shown around/just joined. They can't really comment on what the club is actually like. They haven't experienced it.

From the moment I walked in, he went above and beyond to help me with everything I needed to join the gym. He’s not only professional and polite, but he also has a genuinely warm and friendly demeanour that made me feel welcome right away. Even after I joined, he’s continued to check in on me, making sure I’m all set and have everything I need. Negative experience: I currently pay £418 a month for my membership. So far I have experienced several things from David Lloyd that has really made it a negative experience. Firstly, I bought food from outside, the manager came up to me while I was eating and told me to throw it away as it’s not allowed and I should only buy the overpriced food from the club restaurant. I told her I didn’t know and next time I will do so. I told her I am currently pregnant and I’m going to finish my food. She said that’s not my concern and insisted i throw away my food. Secondly, I asked for an extra towel. They told me I have to pay £2 extra. David Lloyd is literally just trying to extort their members left right and centre. If we are paying so much money for a luxurious club they must ensure their customer service is on the same level because currently it is extremely poor.

Fantastic experience: I just want to say a huge thank you to DL North Finchley crèche team. I bring my 2.5yrs (been going since 5months) and 6month old sons to them, and it has been an amazing experience for me! It took me a while initially as I don’t leave them anywhere else, but now feel totally relaxed and content knowing they are in safe hands. At times I’ve been absolutely exhausted, and to have this as an option, to be on the same premise and know all the lovely team has been a total game changer for me. In particular Mary has been amazing! She’s always so calm, relaxed and warm. I know my babies are in safe hands when she’s there, meaning I can truly relax for a couple of stolen hours. Fantastic experience: The crèche is fantastic. My daughter attended regularly from being 3 months to 5 years old. She loved it. She learned to be independent and confident, to play with children and other adults. She made special bonds with many staff members, especially Sharon. On her last day she was sad to be leaving but made a thank you card that read: “Thank you for all the wonderful fun times” I don’t think there could be higher praise than that.

Negative experience: 6:10 pm I went to the Finchley David Lloyd’s cafe after working out. Feeling weak and hungry, I ordered salmon and prawn linguine, but they were out of salmon. I switched to crab ravioli, and after asking, Ibrahim assured me it would be quick. After waiting 30 minutes, I asked again and was told it would be another 20 minutes. By 7:15 pm, still no food. Ibrahim's colleague offered a refund, but Ibrahim rudely said if I got a refund, I couldn't have the food. One of his colleagues intervened, allowing me to get the food. Ibrahim then loudly complained about being generous.

Fantastic experience: Excellent Facilities, some of the staff are very friendly and helpful, spa facilities are also top tier. Very impressed in their creche, only been to finchley a couple of times and used it and the staff there really made me feel safe and confident that my little girl would be safe and sound. Shout out to amber. My daughter talks about going back there specifically lool.

Fantastic experience: Great customer service! So much to do! Everyone is so kind and will 100% recommend to anyone! 15 tennis courts, pools of every variety and food for anytime of day. Such a great place to come relax and do some work.

Fantastic experience: Our son has been going to the creche at the David Lloyd for over a year now. The creche staff are fantastic, so caring and listen to instructions re naps, milk etc. Special mention to Sharron, Mary, Ronnie and Amber who are all fantastic. Our little boy loves them and skips into creche - it has allowed us to exercise whilst knowing he is happy and safe.

Fantastic experience: Amazing facilities. I took a tour and can definitely say it's worth the money. The spa is spectacular with an array of steam sauna rooms and various pools, including hydro massage and jacuzzi. The gym floor has all the equipment you'd need. Sonny kindly gave me a tour and was very courteous and knowledgeable regarding all the facilities and equipment.

Fantastic experience: My son been going to creche for a few years now. I wouldn't be able to play my tennis or workout if it wasn’t for the friendly creche staff. My son is now 3 years old and he still enjoys spending time there ! Thank you sharon, Mary , Ronni, Amber… for taking care of my son !

Negative experience: Horrible customer service, its just does not exist! I have sent so many e-mails in the past with issues I experienced with David Lloyds Finchley and have not had any response back. If you decide to join think twice, as apparently the club is wait listed which means you won't be able to freeze your membership if needed. Sales people will promise you everything for you to sign up and you will find out later it is not true.

Fantastic experience: A real life saver! My little one has been coming to the crèche since he was 3 months old. He loves it and all the lovely ladies who run it. Some of the staff have changed over the years but the level of care has not. If anything it has improved.
