Fantastic experience: Fantastic modern and clean facilities. We have all had swimming lessons here and have visited for gym classes too - all well priced and such good value for money. The instructors are all well trained and very knowledgeable.

Fantastic experience: Decided to start swimming and was pleasantly surprised to find not so busy on a Saturday afternoon. Nice to still see lots of lifeguards (albeit it did stat to get busy as I was leaving). Remember to lock your door to the changing room as a chap came into my room looking for his son I will be going back soon. Also I bought 10 swims for the price of 8 so bargain and a must to use them all

Positive experience: Gym seems over crowded in the evenings but had a new refurb. They do a court only price but sadly no gym only price. So quite expensive if you want to use the gym.

Fantastic experience: Just joined the gym there seems pretty good not cheap but a smart little gym you've swimming and lots of activities plus a lovely little cafe .

Fantastic experience: A cozy place for a walk with the whole family. There is a lake, children's playgrounds, a football and basketball court. Various events are often held. There is a playground with sand for children, as well as a cozy cafe and toilet.

Negative experience: Pool is pretty cold. Gym is ok to use mid day any other time it is to busy. Good gym staff. General cleanliness is not great. Management only care about new members.

Positive experience: You get what you pay for. I am currently taking swimming lessons with 2 others and the staff are friendly and accommodating!

Positive experience: Was going to aqua aerobic but I gave up after a few times as the water was too cold

Fantastic experience: A great venue for sports only went to watch granddaughters play netball but made to feel welcome and good facilities including cafe.

Negative experience: To say that I see cleaners about it’s not clean at all. Went into the women’s toilets in the entrance and it had only just been cleaned right before I went in. The toilets smelt nice and clean but wasn’t at all. The sanitary bin was full and had dust all over it, the seat hadn’t been wiped and the sinks were filthy and hadn’t been wiped. Upon entrance to the building itself the windows were filthy as well as the carpet that had just been hoovered was full of dirt still. Nice welcoming staff on arrival but the cleaning standards needs to be assessed and sorted!

Fantastic experience: When to see grandson learning to swim

Negative experience: Cares more about getting new gym members than retaining existing ones. Prices too high for a small gym full of teenagers who loiter around machines in groups without even using them. Only good thing is the aircon and adequate locker space! Otherwise a waste of money and we have instead gone to the gym group. Evidently more people have chosen to leave since they decided to raise their prices / forced people paying student prices to move to full prices even though they’ve been loyal for many years - as they are now doing a refer a friend scheme to recruit more. Management should realise that it’s more profitable to retain existing, loyal customers on discounted rates than try to recruit new people at extortionate prices.

Fantastic experience: Great netball place! Really enjoyed my first time there!

Negative experience: 4pm on a Thursday. Café has 3 members of staff standing around behind the food counter chatting with arms crossed. Doing nothing. While chairs are filthy, tables full of crumbs and floor to sweep. Needs new staff. Can't seat on chairs that have food stuck on them. Can't even put your arms on tables this dirty. Reception staff are lovely and friendly and amenities are good. Shame about the hygiene levels at the downstairs café cantine.

Negative experience: It's good but now becoming very expensive specially now they are excluding racket games from the standard membership and creating separate membership for racket game which is very expensive and you need to pay for membership and also for booking courts

Positive experience: Hight barrier not very good for high tops and seen a guy smash both his roof and push bikes as it can't be seen till you have turned in and if someone is following you in to clear main road almost get hit in back of van

Fantastic experience: I only use the gym here but can't fault it. It has everything you need for a workout whether it's lifting or cardio. The PT's are all really sound and helpful if you need it too. You don't tend to get any roided up muppets slamming weights down here either with it being a leisure centre gym and it only tends to get mega busy at peak times

Positive experience: Went swimming with my grown up daughter whilst her partner took little lad to swimming lessons. Nice pool quite chilly but okay for swimming. There's nothing else apart from a pool in the baths but looks a well equipped sports centre. Nice warm showers.

Positive experience: Took 2 year old granddaughter. She had a great time swimming but the water was a little bit cold for her even in the children's pool

Positive experience: Daughter loves doing her swimming lessons but she has been on 97% for months but been told she has to be tested in deep end for next stage and the don't have the time to do it . So she can't move up.. no spaceing in other lessons for her .

Fantastic experience: We had a great experience. We played squash, having not played for years we had a fun and exuberant time running around the squash court. The staff were friendly and helpful and all areas were clean and tidy it only cost approximately £14 and was money well spent. We'll do it again soon.

Positive experience: Place is clean and tidy and staff are lovely. Reason for the low star rating is because of the pool temperature. My youngest was literally shivering in the pool after 10 minutes and asked to get out.

Positive experience: Pleasant staff. Basic cafe with a minimum choice of food. Just pleased they were open on a Sunday.

Negative experience: The gym is always full of a massive group of kids. Wouldn't be so bad but they do nothing but sit around in the way not actually doing any exercise at all.

Positive experience: It's okay. The gym is small but functional, it can be difficult to get on machines unless you go when it's quiet. The swimming pool is a good size and easy to access if you have mobility issues. Not the cleanest and it occasionally smells extremely strongly of urine (which I think comes from the kids pool), but I try not to think about that too much or I would stop swimming. It's often busy which can make it a bit awkward but that's the same at most swimming pools. Overall pretty good, I just wish they would sort the smell out.

Fantastic experience: Started swimming first time in over 20 years, it was colder then I can remember staff were watchful after arriving with two walking sticks after 30 minutes I was looked after my wonderful staff a lot of help? (I am 72 n disabled), when you visit you will greeted helpful people no matter how old you are?, Great swimming pool. (no photos it's wrong to do so?)

Fantastic experience: I take my grandson to gymnastic class here on a Monday. Kieran, the coach, is so good with the kids. I have tried other classes. This is by far the best . Kieran explains well and the explanations are short, so the kids don't get bored

Negative experience: The new website is awful..no courts ever available to book. So have to phone up to book as there are always some free. Very disappointed as the old website worked just fine!!

Positive experience: All the sports and gym stuff you need. Pool is lovely. It's a family changing area for the swimming pool but they have cubicles for privacy. The cafe is nice too.

Negative experience: This place is so poor! I rang 3 times this evening, just to be put in a que n then switched off‍♀️Why is nobody answering the phones???Also your emails sent to the customers are not clear at all! How am I suppose to find out, what time does my daughter’s swimming lesson starts tomorrow when there’s nobody to speak to???

Positive experience: The pool was ridiculously cold even once you was in it was hard to try and keep warm especially with 3 kids

Positive experience: My first visit here since the old sports centre closed. Wow what a difference. We used the pool and found it clean with excellent facilities.

Fantastic experience: Never been before - went to my niece's birthday party. Good room to have food in, staff were friendly and helpful. Kids loved the pool, plenty of floats and toys etc to paly with. Overall really good.

Positive experience: Rang to book a gym place one Friday and told it was closed due to repairs to floor in gym room. Went the following week and and it was not closed , gym as normal. Found out it was Staveley that was shut??? Also told price I had to pay was more than it should have been. Sorted it out and paid proper price. Not happy

Positive experience: Always felt really comfortable in the gym, some of the equipment isn't the best but the environment itself works really well for me. Reception staff can be hit and miss, I much prefer the reception staff at Stavely.

Positive experience: Went swimming with children and family. Its ok but so overpriced for basic swimming, shame that they didn't keep features of the old building, such as the slide and diving boards. Its been designed for hiring out privately. Not for general public and children to enjoy. It's as basic as it gets. The old place had a warm baby pool this hasn't. The main pool isn't very big at all. Shame when its a massive building that they couldn't make the swimming pools epic. Rather than trying to fit them in.

Positive experience: They should've kept the Centre where the old Centre was, within Queens Park not dump a small Sports Centre up the road. Would've been nice if the bus stops outside the centre but it stops just a little way down the road. Would've been nice if the ugly waste land was turned into attractive gardens so the council could've done outdoor stuff to interest people & they could've done an outdoor extension for the cafe. The gym could be more bigger, more nicer looking & spacious & it would've been nice if the gym looked out onto the swimming pool to give people something to watch & or look at other than that ugly car park. Around the centre has the ugly neglected waste land that has a path you can walk on that leads to an abandoned tennis court & the other path leads to a gate onto the street behind the centre.

Positive experience: Nice, modern building. Instructors and general staff are excellent standard and couldn't be more helpful. A good range of classes for adults and lessons for children. All this let down only by one or two receptionists who could use some training in basic customer service.

Negative experience: Poor. Not a patch on the old Queens park sports centre. No slide, no diving boards, and the pools are always taken up with classes. The cafè only serves cold food options, no hot meals anymore.

Positive experience: Only went to the sports hall, decent size. Has a gym and ample parking which is free.

Positive experience: Granddaughter went to the evening roller skating event and really enjoyed it. She wore a mask indoors to participate, but not sure if it's mandatory

Positive experience: This review is based on the swimming and changing rooms only, we have not used any other area of the sorts centre. Clean changing rooms with larger cubicles for a family to change. The showers were really warm and the toilets were clean too. We only used the small pool as we have young children we are teaching to swim, the pool was warm and looked clean. Even though it was busy there was still plenty of room without getting in other people's way. Hopefully next week we'll get to try the cafe too.

Fantastic experience: Lovely pool. There's lots of activities happening, so be sure to check the timetable before going. Plenty of space in the changing rooms and plenty of lockers. I just wonder why no slides or diving boards were put in like in the old building!

Fantastic experience: Great pool, quite cool, but a nice quiet atmosphere (as pools go!). Nice that it's a bit wider than usual as even with lanes it's still a nice size. Changing facilities are good, just a shame there are so few shower cubicles and family changing rooms.

Positive experience: Good lay out inside and plenty of parking spaces outside. Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Fantastic experience: I like the place . The only thing the gym is missing is a slay with weight - from my perspective . Maybe the free weights area could be much bigger especially now that the trend is to lift weights to loose inches

Negative experience: Usually fantastic customer service at reception, never had a problem before but on entering today and waiting just to enquire about swimming lessons for my younger boy I was greeted with 'what she waiting for?' (sounding quite rude) being said to the 2 other members of staff on duty at the time

Negative experience: Very disappointing when staff don’t appear to be flexible when the online booking system fails and automatically assume it’s human error and not their system failing, overall compared to other gyms it’s disappointing
