Negative experience: The WiFi is awful throughout the club making the use of a fitness app to track and update when working out in the gym impossible.

Fantastic experience: Great facilities but don’t forget the interaction post activity in the great community area over a coffee or possibly two. All the team are great and not wishing to discombobulate they all deserve a pay rise.

Positive experience: I have reverted back to being just a member at Barbican Nuffield only again since the start of July ('24). I used to use the Devonshire when I was in N.Plymouth area for the past year or so up until then (on average twice a week) and when I didn't want to traipse into town for the Barbican's. I always enjoyed the pools here (when quiet) but for such a spacious building I found the gym to be claustrophobic and with most of the cardio exercise equipment set up in a bull ring arena style, then that part of the gym just exacerbated such matters! Also I personally wasn't getting any value from being a member here as well as at the Barbican - solely through having to pay £20 a month more in membership cost to what I do at the Barbican's - all while using the exact same facilites at the Devonshire and like others have bemoaned in reviews similar, as I don't even play tennis here! I was hoping this extra charge for the Devonshire would all change in the advent of them closing the jacuzzis in 2022-23 for good across all the Nuffield set ups and doing away with other beneficial things there (I think even the recommended free health MOTs here were stopped during the lockdowns and were never re-introduced too!) - yet in the process upping their costs instead of at least freezing them - ironically! Will not be re-joining. .

Fantastic experience: Great set up, pools are both great, outside one in good weather is like being on holiday. Classes are very good and the instructors I have met are great (Kev Cardio Tennis top chap) it’s always clean and tidy. Gym Area is small for the size of the building, but apart from January never struggled to get on what I want. Kids have been to a few clubs and enjoy them. Very happy member.

Negative experience: Gym really going down hill. Very poorly mismanaged and when you raise issues with management they just par you off and defend themselves without any understanding of who the customer is. They’ve got broken gym equipment which isn’t even tapped off which is dangerous for the past 6 months despite me raising the issue. The car park fills up to the point where you can’t park sometimes as they have managed their class timetables poorly. They’ve upped fees and cutback on facilities, frustrating to see what was once a good club go so downhill over the past year.

Negative experience: Gym area too small. The personal trainers take up too much room with Thier clients, moving kit around and jogging space. The site is big, perhaps it is time to loose a tennis court and increase space for the gym. Also I don't understand why I pay more for being a member at a club with courts when I hate tennis

Negative experience: Customer service is more poor than good. Certain receptionists can be lovely one day and then several are terrible at customer service skills. Attitudes, and overall not very welcoming. (Directed at the younger age) facilities are bare & basic. Cleaning is okish. Overall not even close to the cost of full membership.

Negative experience: Most staff lovely, a couple of the lifeguards (male) have been very rude to my children and partner. And lifeguards on the phone a lot of the time even though the said lifeguard told my partner he could not receive a phone call from myself to let him know our a sick relative is doing. Also it seams children with disabilities are not welcome but this staff member. Club nice tidy and looked after. Not used the gym as yet as we was with china fleet for years and just moved to the devonshire. I am starting to Regret my decision on changing I should’ve just paid more for the bridge prices, I have reported this to higher up But I’m yet to have received a reply this could also be Because I have a disability And so far as far as I witness They do not like disabled people attending their facilities.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic physio centre built into the gym. Can self refer so don’t have to wait on doctor to do so. James is great and very good at getting to the problem and helping. Sorted out my neck/shoulder pain from a bad fall, which with COVID restrictions has meant I have had to live with for 3 yrs. Just over a month of treatment and already have much better mobility. Completely recommend.

Negative experience: Pretty pointless reception if they dont answer the phone. They make it a requirement to book courts by phone and not the app.. so answer it folks!

Fantastic experience: Great place very long standing member. Have lost a gold curb bracelet in the club so if anyone has picked it up please hand in to reception for the safe as has great sentimental value Thankyou xx

Negative experience: Great facility poorly run. Total lack of interest in members feedback, communication and typical corporate attitude from the manager that runs downhill.

Negative experience: The changing facilities for male parents with daughters are disgraceful. Sorry Nile men and male groups constantly use the family area and it is not discouraged by staff. Even cleaning staff use the family lockers. Spoke to management over a year ago and nothing has been done. Management should be ashamed of themselves.

Great social sessions and lessons with good coaches and nice people. Indoor and outdoor swimming pools. Good showers and changing rooms, always clean and tidy. Great new gym equipment with friendly instructors to help. Lovely place with so many different classes and facilities available!

Fantastic experience: The club has improved and I am now very happy and impressed. Well done to new management and a fantastic selection of food at the nu kitchen. Ok the theres no hot tub anymore but sauna works a treat and pool outdoor area is brill.

Positive experience: Very nice here but membership is far too high. Would be nice if you could do a day pass, maybe once a month. Food cost a lot so take your own, or again do some specials for school holiday menu so you can afford meals for all your family.
