Our comment from FitFit UK about CLIFFORD HEALTH CLUB & SPA:

Discover the Clifford Health Club & Spa located in Nottingham, United Kingdom—a fantastic venue where relaxation meets exceptional service. Many visitors have praised the club for its extensive facilities, including a variety of saunas, steam rooms, and pools that provide ample options for unwinding. The afternoon tea offerings and massages are also frequently highlighted as enjoyable aspects of the experience.

Guests have particularly appreciated the knowledgeable and friendly staff who contribute to a welcoming atmosphere. Many have reported positive experiences with specific therapists, such as Melina and Tamara, for their outstanding massage skills. Moreover, numerous reviews emphasize the value for money, especially when taking advantage of special packages.

However, some guests have expressed concerns regarding overcrowding and inconsistent service, particularly during peak times. While most enjoyed their treatments, others noted that they received less time than expected, and some facilities were temporarily out of order. Feedback on the afternoon tea experience has been mixed, with a few mentioning that the selection could be improved.

Despite these issues, many visitors would still recommend Clifford Health Club & Spa, highlighting the potential for an enjoyable and rejuvenating day.

Fantastic experience: I attended for the first time yesterday (18 Dec 2024) and I had a great time. The facilities are excellent and the staff very helpful. If you enjoy saunas and steam rooms, you'll be spoilt for choice, and if you enjoy having a massage, this is the place for you. A lovely lady named Tamara gave me a full body 90 mins massage including facial and head massage and it was fantastic, I can't recommend her highly enough. They have offers available (my offer was £99 for two people, including massages and tea/sandwiches) so if you can find one (or even if you can't), don't hesitate, treat yourself and spend a few hours here, you won't regret it.

Negative experience: If I could give them zero stars I would. I came here for a 90 minute massage last Thursday and it was only half an hour! Whilst having my treatment there was a strong smell of mould and I could hear vulgar language outside the door. My friend who came with me said she saw a slug in the corner, she pointed it out to a manager who didn’t seem interested nor surprised.

Positive experience: I really like using Clifford Spa Packages and I was always very satisfised. However last time it was different…I had package with 25minutes treatment I was called in at 9.10am and at 9.31am I was already in the jacuzzi, so it was definitely not 25minuttes treatment. During the afternoon tea we did not get our glass of prosecco …. I know someone could say this is not a big deal and what’s the problem to tell staff , but I feel very awkward and uncomfortable when I have to ask for something what I actually was included in my package.

Positive experience: Be Aware! To everyone who has experienced from other countries (me from Poland). Level of hygiene by visitor are much lover then in Poland. People used to have swimming suites (and slippers in dry sauna's) on then while staying in Sauna's. To the Clifford Object, showers are leaking so you don't have hot shower but mixture of warm shower and leaking cold water from another shower heads. Finnish sauna are broken but noone care, should have much higher temp like says on the bord next to the doors (100 degrees) but had only 45°C. I reported this to the staff on the morning but nothing change for the whole stay at the object. Massage was nice but too short! ❤️ Overall with my previous experience from Poland I am disappointed.

Fantastic experience: My friend and I enjoyed another excellent spa & afternoon tea session (12-5pm) at Clifford yesterday. Really can't fault it at all for facilities and value for money. The 90 mins treatment was as amazing as ever. Big thank you to all the team at Clifford

Fantastic experience: This is a big shout out to Melina, one of the masseuse at the Clifford Health Spa. In the seven years that I’ve been going, she is by far the most talented. I’ve already booked another visit and will be asking for her again. Value for money is exceptional at this place, which is why I keep going back

Fantastic experience: I was here today, & in my honest opinion my favourite; I was happy w/ most of the Spa Treatments and satisfied. I will definitely be returning. Big THANKS

Fantastic experience: A fabulous day at the Clifford Health Club & Spa yesterday with my friends. I thought it was very good value, with the use of all of the facilities from 12 noon until 5pm, the afternoon tea was lovely and the facial was great. I would definitely recommend this to others, and will be returning again soon.

Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars I would.. Dear Spa Management Team, I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the service I received during my recent visit to Clifford Health Club & Spa on 29.11.24. As a  customer, I expected a high level of service, but unfortunately, my experience fell far short of what I consider acceptable. Firstly, the appointment I had pre-booked was delayed and my self and ny friend were split up for 2 different sessionans and not together as planned .without any explanation or apology from the staff. This caused significant inconvenience as I had planned my day around this appointment. Additionally, when I was finally attended to, I found the facilities to be lacking in cleanliness. The massage room was not adequately sanitized, and the towels provided appeared reused. Moreover, the therapist who attended Ellie-  to me seemed inexperienced and lacked the professional demeanor one would expect from such an establishment. The massage was rushed and did not address the areas I had specifically requested focus on. I was not relaxed at all, the music was too loud and I was freezing during the massage. I am deeply disappointed as previous visits to others spas had always been pleasant and relaxing. Given these circumstances, I believe I deserve some form of compensation for the distress and inconvenience caused. I suggest a full refund for the service or a complimentary session to restore my faith in your establishment. Please address these issues promptly, as I believe in giving businesses a chance to rectify their mistakes. I look forward to your timely response and a satisfactory resolution to this complaint.

Negative experience: I’m giving a one star review of this spa which is sad because the spa itself and the facilities are decent. However, do not waste your time thinking you’ll get a refund from them. Our visit included the afternoon tea, and we wanted to pay extra to change one of the regular drinks to a deluxe hot chocolate. This cost £3.10. The waitress had no problem taking our money. However we were told later there was so hot chocolate left. No problem - we will just get a Refund, we thought. Before leaving the spa, we asked the reception how we can get refunded. They said to email their customer service team as they cannot give refunds at the reception. WELL, it’s been 5 months later and still no refund. We have called and emailed multiple times to be told the same thing; the manager will be in touch. They have not been in touch and we have to keep emailing and calling! Even though it’s only £3.10, it’s the principal. We didn’t receive the drink so we should be refunded. We don’t know why this is so difficult?? Sadly we do not live super close to the spa so we cannot easily go back. Disappointed and frustrated.

Fantastic experience: Had the most amazing day! Facilities are awesome and the treatment was incredible. Very happy to return soon.

Fantastic experience: Treatments were amazing . Afternoon tea was just the right amount and delicious. The saunas and steam rooms weren’t too busy and the new ice plunge pool was cold but great !

Fantastic experience: Had a great day. Massage was very good along with afternoon tea facilities maintained well even during busy periods

Fantastic experience: Visited the Fire and Ice Spa with a friend and had a wonderful afternoon with a well needed, most relaxing treatment.. thank you Lisa and Ashleigh for working your magic! Everywhere was spotless and floors were being mopped constantly for safety. Staff were friendly and helpful and there was a wide demographic of visitors which I loved. Can’t wait to visit again.. already booked!!

Positive experience: Don't be put off by the external building looking like an industrial place. As you step inside, it's like Alice In Wonderland. Beautiful, relaxing atmosphere, and the staff are so friendly. All the steam rooms, saunas you can think of is all in one place, you are definitely spoilt for choice. The treatments are exceptional and Melina and Val were brilliant. 10 out of 10. I only wish there could be more heated seating but I understand we did go during a busy time period. Would definitely recommend and will hopefully be going again soon.

Fantastic experience: Had a great time at the spa today. The best part was a wonderful massage. Penny was brilliant, I am hoping she is available for my massage, next time! There will definitely be a next time.

Barry Haywood 11 months ago

Positive experience: Second visit for us, much busier than previous visit. Good selection of saunas & steam rooms. Changing rooms clean, the treatment rooms and facilities were good. Found most areas crowded and noisy unfortunately. Afternoon Tea acceptable as long as your expectations aren't high, staff all very pleasant. My biggest issue is the use of mobile phones! For me, it should be a place to relax, not to listen to someone's conversation or be somewhere for groups of,( mainly young women ), to squeal excitedly at taking pictures of each other posing. It was good value for what we paid,( Black Friday offer ), but wouldn't return, just not relaxing enough.

Claire Hatfield 11 months ago

Positive experience: Fantastic value for money. I've been here 3 times now and will definitely keep returning. The massage could have been a bit firmer and treatments don't always run on time, but overall a great experience

Jonnie 11 months ago

Fantastic experience: Was a very lovely experience, loved the range of saunas and steam rooms available. The spa treatment was very relaxing, will definitely book again.

Abigail Burchill 11 months ago

Positive experience: 3rd time to this place. I love it. It's really good value for money. Yes there are nicer spas. The afternoon tea is basic but for around 50-70 each for afternoon tea prosecco spa access AND a lovely treatment you can't go wrong. The place looks great since the refurb. Love the plunge pool. It's not too busy is u go mid week. Staff really friendly.

Daniel Mason 11 months ago

Positive experience: We've done several spa days here which are great value. While not exclusive or luxurious, a real effort has been made to create a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. There's a pool, jacuzzis, plunge pool and several saunas and steam rooms to choose from, then afternoon tea and massage, a great place to unwind.

Bridie Moxon 11 months ago

Positive experience: Great value for money - very clean and well kept spa area. The only downside of our trip this time was that some of the heated beds were broken and the massage rooms are ready for an update but we were told on check out this was taking place this month! We always rebook to come back.

Grace York 11 months ago

Positive experience: The services and facilities were amazing, the room was cute and the bed was soft. As a younger woman however, I felt like I was treated as an annoyance by some of the staff… I understand if they’ve had issues with younger people in the past but to treat everyone condescendingly is not okay.

Laura 11 months ago

Negative experience: Unsure if the positive reviews are fake or from people who have never been to a spa before and have very low expectations. Extremely overcrowded and clearly overbooked, very very loud - we got more relaxation in the car to and from the spa. Afternoon tea booked for 4pm and after queueing for nearly half an hour, we didn’t get the food (definitely cheap supermarket food) until 5. Diabolical. Nowhere to sit, everywhere was totally crowded. Could barely move in the swimming pool. Treatment rooms feel like you’re being taken to some questionable back rooms. Absolutely AVOID. One positive is that I now will have to treat myself and my friend to a real spa day somewhere else…

David Holmes 11 months ago

Fantastic experience: We have been to Clifford spa quite a few times and the spa area had been improved since our last visit, with a new plunge pool and revamped changing rooms. The 90 minute treatment was amazing as always and we rebooked again for next year.

Vicky Hill 11 months ago

Positive experience: 10/10 for venue, facilities, cleanliness, afternoon tea. Usually 90min massage is brill but today's I felt I got cold quickly in the room and therapist was delicate- personal preference of course but I'd say explain beforehand your requirements. Deffo recommend here though.

SL R 11 months ago

Positive experience: I have been a couple of times now and the facility is pretty good. The only reason I have marked it down in stars is because the club doesn't check or honor the packages that have been booked. For instance. I had booked the blissful package which included towel and robe hire. However I still had to pay £25 extra for the hire when I got to the club. I think, because they have so many variations of packages they lose track of what is and isn't included.

Helen Byrnes 11 months ago

Fantastic experience: Another fabulous visit today, the updates are all fabulous. The range of saunas and steam rooms is incredible. Excellent value for money especially when you book to come back again.

Emily Fletcher 11 months ago

Negative experience: Awful customer service! My partner booked a spa day for us both, with included a 90 minute treatment each. The spa contacted us an hour before our spa day was about to commence, informing us that they could only provide half of the treatment time we had paid for. We decided that we wanted a refund instead, and the receptionist stated that we would be able to get one & to contact the spa service team. We contacted the spa service team & they refused our request for a refund, stating we had ‘forfeited’ the day by not attending, which was absolutely not the case. Clearly the people who own this spa are money grabbers & do not care about the service they provide to their customers. Avoid at all costs!

Susan Bell 11 months ago

Positive experience: Disappointing. Our visit to spa was not really relaxing this time. Poor afternoon tea, lack of filling in sandwiches. Not the quality & quantity as last time. Very busy. Saunas & stream rooms were ether cool or to hot‍♀️ some on a timer so went off. Were put on again when we asked one of the staff why it was cool. Noisy round the pool area & some of the beds weren’t warm. To say it was a 90 minute massage, the only part of it was good was the facial & head massage. Think the room was being decorated. No where to put your clothes only on a cold radiator. The room was cool. We were both cold. It was -1 outside. No heating in the room. Didn’t realise she was using the hot stones. Couldn’t understand the young women. When she did speak, ‍♀️ spoke so fast. Not really friendly. We went in the sauna to warm up afterwards & then had a hot shower. Not a great spa afternoon this time compared to last time. It is good value for money but whether it’s worth going is another matter. We did book again hopefully better next time, like the other time‍♀️ if not we probably won’t bother again. Nice large changing rooms & hot showers. Toilet seats lose need fixing. There should be a sign stopping people from getting changed in the toilets. Causing ques when you want to use the loo. Place kept clean by cleaners. Service in restaurant good to say it was full.

Positive experience: Our first visit and we have booked to go back again! We had a great day and would have paid the money we paid to go just for the back massage. It was the best back massage I’ve ever had! I would recommend there being more coke drink options as well as water being filled up more regularly.

Marion Pouzols 11 months ago

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at Clifford for a spa day. The staff was friendly. I was expected the spa to be small but they have many different sauna and steam. I can be a bit busy but moving from one sauna to an other you don’t really notice and there is always space.

Amy Gadsby 11 months ago

Negative experience: AVOID! Positive reviews are clearly fake! This Business removes negative comments and blocks you from their social media pages. I have emailed them to try and resolve my concern and they have just blocked me. So here I go: Upon arrival, it was immediately apparent that there was no clear structure to the bookings, leading to considerable disorganization. However, after seeing how busy the afternoon was, we were glad we came in the morning. We proceeded to the spa area upstairs, only to find the door locked. We had to flag down a lifeguard to open it for us. Once inside, we found the steam room was off, and the sauna was also not in operation. After this, we decided to return downstairs. I understand that floors can get wet around the pool and the Fire & Ice facilities, which is common in many spas. However, the slipperiness of the floors was a significant safety concern, and I noticed that footwear is only provided at an additional cost. This clearly suggests there are no effective measures in place to manage the hazard. With the large number of people around the pool and the Fire & Ice experience, this situation could easily lead to accidents. I've also seen similar concerns raised in reviews, and I hope Clifford Spa has taken this feedback into account. The treatment area walking up the stairs was dirty. Both my mother and I had massages, which were ok, but I did experience an issue after my treatment. My skin felt tingly, and when I removed my robe in the changing room, I noticed what appeared to be fake tan stains. I do not use fake tan due to my skin reacting too it in the past, and it was clear that the therapist who massaged me uses it. While I have no issue with therapists wearing fake tan, it is concerning that it transferred onto my skin during the massage. This should not happen, especially when massage oils are used, as it impacts both hygiene and client comfort. I had to shower to remove the residue and now need to clean the fake tan from my robe. As this company has failed to acknowledge my concerns and quite frankly act quite unprofessional by blocking me as I am now unable to message them, I will be contacting industry standards. Which by then I hope this Business reviews the concerns accordingly.

Fantastic experience: Such a fantastic spar with all the facility’s you could want, they are cleaned constantly. The afternoon tea is basic but well presented, the massages (as I have been several times) are the best I have had. The staff are so helpful and such great value for money. Well done and I look forward to returning again.

Fantastic experience: Great spa facilities! And the massage and facial was amazing! Very clean and so many options! Good food too. Have already booked to return!

Mike Sampson 11 months ago

Fantastic experience: Whilst we would have appreciated an acknowledgement and a smile when we arrived ( it was busy!) Staff were otherwise charming and helpful. The Spa was clean and tidy with evidence of staff working hard to maintain this. My wife and I both had a 90 minute hot Stones massage and facial treatment, which was conducted with professionalism, care and friendliness. We had tea in the Waterfall Cafe, which was excellent (super cherry and blueberry scones!) Although the cafe could do with some form of material to reduce noise and echo. Overall, a most satisfactory experience (again) and we have already purchased a repeat visit.

Luke Mountain 11 months ago

Negative experience: Appaulling customer service. Our booked treatments were cancelled an hour before our spa session. They will refuse refunds and ignore you. They provide incentives for 5 star reviews, so take them with a large pinch of salt.

Ej W 11 months ago

Negative experience: This spa is really really poor. We were there on a free day because our treatment times were cut last time and they were cut again this time. Very half hearted massages and facials, one with the therapist talking most of the way through. Both if us had a bright glaring light shining on our faces which they were unable to turn down. Run down treatment rooms that are cold with very old dirty towels, no hot stones as promised. Would not recommend.

Ellen Davies 11 months ago

Negative experience: We booked to visit Clifford health spa. when we got there the place looked utterly disgusting we couldn't even bring ourselves to go inside. It was absolutely heaving with people stood about outside in towels smoking. The reception area looked vile. It's basically just a scruffy warehouse. The most annoying thing about the whole thing though is the fact that once they have your personal details they not only repeated spam you despise you asking them to stop, they also pass your details onto numerous third parties who try to scam you. AVOID

Sally Orr 11 months ago

Fantastic experience: Lovely day at the spa for a birthday treat. Back massage and facial were really good. And not as busy as previous visits so much more relaxing. Booked again for the special offer. Great value for money

Alisha Griffiths 11 months ago

Negative experience: Awful experience - paid for a spa package which included a 50 minute treatment and only got 25 minutes! It was extremely disappointing to pay for a package which included a 50 minute treatment (which was more expensive than other shorter treatment packages) and for it to be cut short for no reason. To make matters worse when we went to complain at reception there were three other separate parties complaining who also had the exact same thing happen and were very unhappy! One said it had also happened to her the month prior, so it seems like it wasn't a one off mistake, but instead something that happens regularly. Spa in general was also very overcrowded and busy. Have emailed for a refund, and would not recommend/return.

Louise Turner 11 months ago

Positive experience: We had a fabulous time at the health spa. It’s was extremely busy and found we couldn’t get to use all the facilities but we just went elsewhere. The massage was beautiful and relaxing. The only negative is the afternoon tea, there are not enough sandwiches and no crisps, also when using the main pool I felt it was unfair that people put their towels on the loungers and spent a long time in the pool therefore we could never get to experience these

Kyle Hardy 1 year ago

Positive experience: I visited Clifford health club and spa with my wife, my best friend and his partner. We visited as part of a Christmas gift from my wife and my friends partner to enjoy some relaxation. The facilities are great with so many different themed steam rooms and saunas to satisfy everyone's needs. The pool and two hot tubs were warm and relaxing. We all had a 90 minute full body massage with a facial and an Indian head massage that relaxed me so much I was counting sheep, at the end of the treatment I felt refreshed. We enjoyed an afternoon tea in between all of the relaxation which was nice but I felt there could have been more choice with the sandwich and cake selection provided. We had the choice of a pot of tea, a coffee or different fruit juices, which were delightful but it would have been lovely to have refills available as part of the package. The only downside I saw was the place was absolutely packed which is fantastic for the business but as a customer trying to make the most of the facilities if felt congested at times. On the whole it was a fantastic experience and we will definitely look to visit again, but perhaps on a week day next time.

Sarah “Sarah the reviewer” A B 1 year ago

Negative experience: Unfortunately one of the worst spas I have ever visited and I would not recommend. Pros - there were some pros, firstly the staff were lovely and polite apart from the male at the front of desk in the waterfall cafe. Please learn some manners on how to speak to customers. - the ladies who delivered the treatments were awesome and polite. - the facilities themselves were actually very good and the place has potential however this was let down by a few of the rooms being closed for maintenance. - the afternoon tea was good value and very fulfilling. Cons - spa? More like leisure centre. Because the gym members have access to the spa it was busy and crammed. People were talking so loud in the saunas / steam rooms you could not relax. It was not peaceful - All spa rooms were crammed with people. - The location is a little ridiculous as it doesn’t have its own car park you’ve got to park a distance away and it’s a 4 min walk to get to the spa.

Fantastic experience: Amazing spa day, just what me and my bestie needed! We always love it here and keep returning. Was lovely to experience the recently added rainforest spa, with a cheeky glass of prosecco too Fantastic selection of steam rooms and saunas. My personal faves are the aromatherapy, herbal and rose steam rooms and the himalayan sauna. Delicious afternoon tea. We had a hot stone massage which was super relaxing and Ceilagh was brilliant and highly recommended Booked in for our next day already

Negative experience: Not quite sure what to make of this.. I wouldn’t re use. My reasons: This place is stressful to use for spa. Spa rooms full of members who are Constantly talking in all rooms socialising. There is no respect for quietness or relaxation. And there are no signs for quietness displayed anywhere. The traffic inside of the spa facilities is like a London takeaway and I’m not exaggerating. The treatment: The room was so cold. All 3 of my friends felt the same way. The changing rooms and lockers. Lockers are not big enough and due to high volume of members there is no space to sit down and change. There’s just not enough room as they didn’t create enough benches. No papercups to drink water from any dispenser. No complimentary towels or robs for spa facilities. I saw members in nightgowns Showers unclean and no complimentary shampoos or body wash to use. No shelves in showers for own products to sit. The bad outways the good here. We were offered a deal to return for £99 and I’d rather not. I made that very clear to the receptionist who apologised but didn’t do anything more. Don’t waste your hard earned money here, it’s not right for me to leave a fake a review. This place needs better management.

Negative experience: The most horrendous treatment, therapist was scrolling down instagram while doing the massage, treatment room was a mess, ridiculously firm pressure causing pain. Generally awful experience. Spa was nice and afternoon tea but treatment completely ruined the day.

Negative experience: The facilities are great but they admit far too many people. We waited an hour and half for our afternoon tea after the booked time. There were no seats, water machines no water, way too many people for the facilities. During my treatment they gave me an already used towel. With half the amount of people I could see the spa would be good but being too greedy wanting the money from all the admissions means people will not return.

Fantastic experience: We had an amazing time. You can choose from the morning and evening session. There are a lot of activities, all different saunas, cold ,hot showers swimming pool, spa. We bought a woucher, so had lunch included. Most of the facilities are clean and looked after, however you could see some imperfection. During lunch time, the waiting time was much more over the top, waiting 30minutes. Afternoon tea itself was nice. It was extremely busy, almost impossible to get privacy, but i think it was due to the deal being on offer. The massage experience was poor and painful, we ordered 90minutes but got 45min, but you know that's good. The massage room was cold, too much lights, hot massage stones burned my skin and i had to scream a bit ❤️ however ladies themselves was very kind and friendly and patient. I think massages fail due to poor organization and poor financing of places, they want to feel people comfortable in. Next to the pool it was hard to find space to chill, like mentioned before, too many people, so you had to go and find what to do hoping when you come back you will get one - happened to the end of day I also lack a space to be outside, but it has nothing to do with this particular spa. All their activities are done inside and it's cool, but it's a blessing to get your ass outside after a hot sauna session ☺️ All together experience was nice, beautiful changing rooms and nice stuff. A lot of different activities and so on, however for me this is not a place to come back. ☺️❤️

Negative experience: Visited Clifford Spa on October 1st to celebrate our anniversary. While the spa facilities are generally nice, some things were below expectations, like a few non-working saunas and smelly Prosecco glasses. Unfortunately, our massage experience was the biggest disappointment. We were left waiting over 40 minutes for our treatment in wet suits, with no apology or explanation beyond “they’re running late.” When we finally started, the room was far from relaxing—it was cold, lacked music, and had an unpleasant smell. I asked about the temperature because I had goosebumps and a cold nose, but was told the AC had to stay on because they get hot. After another request, they turned it off, but the room was still chilly. Our 90-minute appointment was cut short to less than 60 minutes. When I asked about the time, we were told we were “lucky” to get that long as they were short-staffed and most clients on that day had it cut it by half… After mentioning our concerns to reception, the manager was polite and asked us to email the details. I don’t usually complain, but this was truly disappointing. I sent the requested email right away and waited for a response, but after three weeks with no reply, I followed up by phone. Each person I spoke to was polite and seemed understanding, but I still haven’t received any resolution or even an apology after nearly a month. This is not what I expected for an anniversary experience, and I hope they will consider improvements in both service and customer support. It’s shocking. So keep it in mind, if you are looking for a stress free and relaxing experience avoid this place.

Negative experience: AVOID!!! This is the worst spa experience we have ever been to & the company DO NOT give any kind of compensation or refund for their terrible service. They also delete reviews and comments on Instagram to hide the negatives. We turned up to our “relaxing” spa day to find the spa absolutely rammed of people, the capacity limits are all wrong. There was no seating for anyone, so people were having to share seats in order to sit down and every sauna/steam room/jacuzzi was just full of people, making it impossible to actually enjoy any kind of experience. We were fobbed off by the manager on site who advised the capacity was always this way and that she has raised concerns with higher management only to be ignored so she gives up trying. She told us to email as she can’t give any compensation, which we did and received a general email back with no offer of reimbursement in any form, even though we were forced to leave 3 hours early because of the lack of space/seating. The afternoon tea was bang average.. there was a large queue to get in even though our time slot was booked.. there were soap suds in the spout of our tea pot and the cakes were clearly shop brought and not what you would usually expect on an afternoon tea, eg. Batch cooked flapjacks. The worst part was the massage.. the music was far from relaxing, it was something out of a horror film.. the massage bed we were asked to lie on was all cracked leather causing the massage to be extremely uncomfortable, it was an “Elemis” massage but they used coconut oil and no Elemis products and when washing their hands, they took the towel off my back while I was lay on the bed naked to dry their hands!!! It was unbelievable. So many people were complaining and unhappy but nothing was done and no sympathy given from the staff. Bearing in mind we went on a week day and not a weekend. These are just a few of the issues we faced.. there were many more but too much to write. I am appalled and sure this review will also be deleted like many of the others & all my Instagram comments are to hide the reality of this horrendous spa!

Fantastic experience: My first visit and wow wow wow! The 90 minute massage was absolutely amazing. The afternoon tea was delicious but a little more jam and cream would have been nice for 2 people. The choice of saunas, steam room and spa experiences was incredible. So impressed I've booked again!

Bianca Cooper 1 year ago

Positive experience: Lovely day at the spa, lots of rooms to use which means people are spread out across the areas. Really lovely facial and booked to return. Only downside is that the afternoon tea doesn’t have enough jam or cream for two people, and we weren’t allowed to buy a glass of Prosecco as we already had one included in the afternoon tea.

Negative experience: I am beyond frustrated after my recent visit to Clifford Spa with my friend to celebrate her birthday. What a disaster! From the moment we arrived, it was clear the place was overbooked and chaotic. Instead of a relaxing atmosphere, it felt like we were part of a conveyor belt—one in, one out. The staff barely communicated our treatment times, leaving me waiting for over 20 minutes after my friend had already started hers. To make matters worse, I was told my treatment was cut from 50 minutes to just 25 due to staff sickness, but no one had the courtesy to inform us of this beforehand. We were told we couldn’t have our treatments together, even though the double room was available. My friend’s therapist mentioned it was her first day, and it showed—my friend didn’t even get the massage pressure she specifically requested even though my therapist asked if I wanted it, soft, medium or hard!! After our rushed treatments, we were looking forward to the afternoon tea we had booked. What a joke! My hot chocolate looked like dirty water and was lukewarm, while the afternoon tea itself was a complete letdown. The sandwiches were practically empty, the scones were hard as rocks, and the cakes looked like they were thrown together haphazardly. To top it all off, the dining area was freezing and overcrowded. Despite numerous emails and requests to speak to a manager, I have been completely ignored. This lack of communication and disregard for customer service is unacceptable. I paid £140 for this experience, travelled over an hour to get here, and we ended up leaving without even eating our afternoon tea. Save your money and time—do NOT book a visit to Clifford Spa. I will never return, and I strongly advise others to look elsewhere for a proper spa experience.

Fantastic experience: Had an amazing time! I booked a surprise for my mum for a nice relaxing girly day. The deal packages are great! The staff were also really friendly and welcoming and the facilities were great. It was busy for a Friday but there was still enough room for everyone. The treatments were so relaxing and staff were great. The afternoon tea food was delicious. We had a great experience and would definitely recommend.

Positive experience: Went today for my daughters birthday When pulled up outside thought what the hell have we come to, but inside absolutely beautiful We wasn’t sure were we were going. Went for our treatments which we had a back massage which I can recommend was lovely and relaxing then went for our afternoon tea which again was really nice, so by the time we had come out it was really busy and not relaxing at all everywhere was too busy so was restricted to what we could do no loungers free as they had towels on them but no one actually sitting or lying on them I think you should be given a map as to where everything is and they had booked too many people in so because of this will not be returning

Fantastic experience: Lovely spa afternoon. Sauna and steam rooms - aromatherapy steam was a favourite! Afternoon tea and then a double treatment with Jeanite and Rob, 90 minute full body with hot stones, scalp massage with facial. Took advantage of the rebook offer before leaving so will be back to work on getting those knots out of my shoulders! Thank you

Fantastic experience: We enjoyed our day out at Clifford Spa. There are plenty of steam rooms, saunas and pools to use. The package we did was lovely with the full body massage. I would definitely recommend visiting.

Fantastic experience: Had an incredible time at clifford health spa today. Had a 90 minute treatment as well, which was so relaxing. All the facilities were very clean and very relaxing. Worth a visit.

Fantastic experience: For my first time visit I was very impressed by all staff they were so friendly and helpful. Even when my friend locked her key in her locker, they assisted us and reassured us that everything will be okay. Your spa was very clean and descriptive of how it can benefit me, which I was happy to see. My treatment was very relaxing where Emily P concentrated on areas of my back which needed attention, which I was not aware of. Thank you, I feel amazing especially after a lovely facial to finish off. I enjoyed my overall experience which was needed since having my second child and have rebooked again. Sorry for the long review

Negative experience: We visited yesterday. I've been to this spa quite a lot over the years and I've always enjoyed it but not yesterday. Firstly it was very, very busy. Didn't get to use a lot of the rooms as when you opened the door they were full. Hydropool and jacuzzi were uncomfortably full. Changing rooms you were banging into one another. Afternoon tea was nice but, wasn't a lot for 7 people. Prosecco was included but they told us it wasn't so we paid but we did query this at the end with the reception staff so hopefully get a refund. Treatment was a bit of a mess, apparently people were off sick, so they were running late. (Fair enough) I had the Swedish massage which was supposed to be for 25 minutes, it was not 25 minutes and it was very rushed and I've actually woke up this morning with a sore back. Staff members were talking loudly outside treatment rooms so again not really relaxing. It didn't have a relaxing atmosphere some party groups were very loud as if they were out on a pub crawl. Quite a few things not working, the foot spas and some of the heated beds. It feels as though it's become about making as much money as possible, there were far too many people in the spa for a relaxing experience. Which is a shame because prior to yesterday all my visits to clifford had been positive ones. Also remember locks for lockers as they don't provide these. On a positive though all the staff were very friendly, it was nice and clean, the choice of rooms they've got is brill. The afternoon tea was nice. I really do like this spa but I think I'd try a weekday next time rather than the weekend

Positive experience: Excellent gift from my best friend to share some quality time together today for my birthday The spa treatments were very good value although the room was very cold this morning which was a shame. Loved all the beautiful smelling saunas and steam rooms and jacuzzi after our afternoon tea too x A really lovely & relaxing day x

Fantastic experience: Went to Clifford Day Spa today with my mum to celebrate her 60th Birthday. What an amazing day from start to finish. Welcomed with a smile and checked in with ease. The changing rooms were fabulous and of a high standard. We hired robes and towels and werent long before we were chsnged and heading in to the spa. Well what a wow! The amount of different steam room /saunas there was blew me away and the rainforest spa upstairs was absolutely fabulous. We were spolit for choice. Our day included a 25 minute treatment each if which i chose a facial and mum chose a back masssage. Mum said her back massage was one of the best she's ever had, it was with Rob. My facial was so relaxing and just what i needed, very enjoyable. Following this we had afternoon tea with prosecco which again was lovely and the scones were to die for. We couldnt fault anything from today it was perfect from start to finish. So much so we've booked to come back again and cant wait. Thanks for a fabulous day! See you again soon x

Fantastic experience: First time visit, a birthday gift from friends. A huge place, and busy enough for a Wednesday morning. We found the rainforest area upstairs a bit more peaceful. All the saunas, steam rooms and pools are lovely. Huge changing area with lockers and showers etc. The 90 minute massage and facial from Holly and Jess was amazing - thank you! Afternoon tea with prosecco was nothing really fancy but we were ready for the sandwiches and cake after the treatments. The blueberry scones were lovely. We had a great morning, the only negatives to give are that it's a bit noisy with doors slamming shut and most people are there for a good chinwag so it wasn't as peaceful and calm as it could've been. All staff were friendly and welcoming. We did buy the offer to go back again.

Negative experience: In all honesty this was a bit disappointing. The afternoon tea took 45 minutes to be served and was clearly not freshly made, the cakes were dire and they don't serve clotted cream with the scones, the tea itself was lukewarm and not nice. A member of our party asked if she could have a slice of lemon with her green tea and was told no as they don't have lemons. The variety of rooms within the spa was nice although nearly all the saunas were pretty identical and the swimming pool is very cold. A lot of the steam rooms were very loud with constant banging, I assume from pipes so there wasn't much opportunity to relax, the ice room is a bit of a misnomer as it was basically luke warm. The massage was nice and the ladies doing it were very friendly but the facial felt rushed and we weren't asked about any skin sensitivities so it didn't feel very tailored to my skin type. The location isn't ideal and there is no onsite parking. Overall, we probably won't come back as we didn't leave feeling very relaxed.

Fantastic experience: Amazing treatment, such a good massage. Thanks to Emily P and Libby (therapists). Today was the quietest time we've been and it made it all the more relaxing. We've rebooked on an an amazing return offer. The new blueberry scone was delicious too!

Fantastic experience: Been a member now for 6 months and really enjoying the flexibility of a gym that suits my time line. I mostly swim and enjoy the many different types of saunas and stram rooms but have joined a few classes (of which there are many and every type you could want). Impressive gym areas over 3 floors that also cater for a ladies only section. In the past I've had several spa days and afternoon teas with massages that I would definitely recommend. It does get busy but there is so much to do and plenty of areas to meander around.

Negative experience: I have used this spa quite a few times with no problems but my last visit was horrendous. The therapist made it quite clear she didn't want to touch my scalp when doing the head massage and I believe it is due to the small patches of psoriasis I have on my scalp. I mentioned this at the desk and was promised they would contact me but they never did and after numerous unanswered emails I finally got one back about something else altogether. I would hate for anyone else to feel as vulnerable and self conscious as this experience has left me. If you have any skin issues I would definitely avoid.

Claire Shaw 1 year ago

Negative experience: Absolutely atrocious. Far too crowded. They definitely overbooked. You had to squeeze past people to get to anything. Foot bubblers not working, rain showers not working. Everything else extremely crowded. My friend and I both booked a back and shoulder massage. We booked the same thing . We were led past the proper treatment rooms, through sets of back doors , down corridors, up and down sets of steps to what I can only describe as a converted back office. Two treatment beds rammed into a tiny room no bigger than my box room. My massage person was a young Korean ( possibly Japanese) chap . He was very pleasant but lacked strength. My friend was treated by an older eastern European lady who absolutely wrung my friend out like a dish cloth. I feel we should have swapped as I am far larger and more muscular than my friend. She was bruised. We did not receive the same treatment. My friends arms, hands, fingers and feet were massaged, mine were not. She recieved a lot of karate chopping movements on her back along with strong pressure which she didn't request, I did not ( and needed strong pressure that the lad simply didn't have the strength for) . In short the service felt very disjointed, and the treatment room was clearly a back office hastily set up to accommodate the overbooking and overcrowding. The included afternoon tea was ABYSMAL. Dry half filled sandwiches that wouldn't fill a toddler. The scones and two bits of brownie each were so very clearly out of a multipack from a supermarket ( and not even the supermarket finest range ) The dining area STILL looks and feels like a late 90s student cafeteria. We came before covid and it was a very nice experience. After this, NEVER AGAIN.

Fantastic experience: An amazing Spa day experience, myself and my partner througly enjoy the day. We have been to many Spa days however Clifford tops them all, with an extensive amount of steam rooms available. I have recommended Clifford to family and friends.

Negative experience: We have been coming for 2 years on the buy back package. When we first came it was brilliant the treatments were so good but Each time has got worse and worse. The place is so over crowded you can't walk around without bumping into people. The place is so old, things are always broken or out of order. The jacuzzi is freezing. The treatments get shorter and shorter each time. No one cares for the place. The treatment rooms are always freezing. Many times we had to complain about the short times or the coldness of the rooms, we thought they'd take note and improve. This unfortunately never happened. We will not go again.

Christopher Edale 1 year ago

Negative experience: YET another one star review and they never, ever learn or apologise, or change. Far too crowded is one big disadvantage. The massage came almost immediately before the steam and pool etc. which renders the massage almost pointless as all the oil is washed away. Incredibly we were told that steam right after a massage helps the oils soak in! It simply sweats out in fact. They over-stretch themselves selling far too many services on the same day and then cannot cope. It's not a luxury spa at all it is very basic. Where we will go in future we have sampled and it's a true health club/spa. Read all the other 1 star reviews. Nowhere avoids 1 or 2 star reviews now and again but this place collects them for a hobby it would seem.

Georgia Farrington 1 year ago

Negative experience: If i could give it a 0 star I honestly would! Firstly my complains email has been ignored! Which shows how little the owners Care! Let’s go for our main issue just before I bullet point the rest to save the massive long dead for everyone, We watched as a staff member collected dirty dishes off two separate tables, taken them behind a counter, Run them under water to then place our drinks inside the dirty glasses that hadn’t been cleaned at all when I refused to accepted these glasses I wasn’t given a replacement drink! I went and took a picture of the horrendously dirty area in which our glasses where run under water… absolutely vile All of this happening under the eye of the restaurant manager who her self went onto collect dirty dishes for other customers Honestly save yourself the money and go a proper spa this one has Money grabbing owners who don’t care about the experience at all! Now I’m just going to run off a bullet point list of our other problems so you can really understand how disgusting this place is -Extremely overcrowded (actually uncomfortably) -Areas to busy to enjoy -Very Dirty -No one cleaning standing water (slimy) -stairs dangerously slippy due to water -people reserving beds and towels not being moved by staff -No glasses when asked for Prosecco (rude man) -No coffee upstairs (again rude man informed it us one had moved it) -no adequate seating for that many guests -table dirty for food -area disgusting -watched staff member collect dirty dishes off table, swirl under water then serve to us -when asked regarding this didn’t bring out new dishes for us -milk/juice etc left out for long periods of time -massage lasted 70 minutes not 90 -staff rude -different massages for each person -missing parts of treatment -staff members on phones during treatment -managers couldn’t react properly to this complaint -told staff had walked out or off sick! People should of been called to have days changed due to this to upkeep maintain standards and customer care/satisfaction -we had driven two hours to receive shocking poor quality service

Fantastic experience: Had a Spa day today with a 40 min treatment. The whole place was brilliant so relaxing lovely and clean. So much more than we thought ! the treatment was fabulous I felt amazing after my back and back of leg massage with Jess ! The afternoon tea was great too good selection of sandwiches and nice cakes and scones ! The only negative was in the rainforest area there's a bar we ordered two coffees which were just Nescafe powder and were in small cups ! and over £5 !! Not even a proper coffee machine coffee !

Negative experience: The following is an email I sent to the email address advised by a member of staff after a recent visit to this establishment. The fact that I have not had a response to my complaint/email further enforces my feelings! Formal Complaint – Request for Immediate Response Dear Clifford Spa Complaints Department, I am writing to express my profound disappointment and frustration with the utterly subpar experience my daughter and I endured during our recent visit on September 7th, a day that was supposed to be a special celebration of our birthdays. Given the anticipation and significance of this occasion, I spared no expense and paid £175 for what was advertised as a luxurious day consisting of two 90-minute treatments, afternoon tea, and a relaxing mother-daughter experience. Instead, we were met with a series of unprofessional, chaotic, and unacceptable circumstances that completely ruined our day. To begin with, upon our arrival, we were informed that the treatment times provided to me the previous evening had been changed. To our dismay, we were told that our 90-minute treatments had been slashed to a mere 40 minutes each, allegedly due to staffing issues. The suggestion that we could return another day to receive the remainder of our treatment time is utterly impractical and unreasonable, given the hour-long journey each way and the need to arrange childcare. This last-minute change was an appalling breach of trust and a glaring indication of your establishment's lack of professionalism. The situation only deteriorated from there. After wandering aimlessly due to the absence of staff to guide us, we discovered there was only one bed available between us. The entire facility was overcrowded, with guests wandering around, visibly frustrated and searching for somewhere to sit and relax. We eventually found two beds, but even then, the experience was far from tranquil, as we were surrounded by people crammed onto beds or standing nearby, evidently due to the severe overbooking. The noise, overcrowding, and complete lack of organization made it impossible to enjoy any semblance of relaxation. Adding insult to injury, our afternoon tea experience was equally abysmal. After being seated, we were abruptly asked to move to accommodate an unexpected party of four. The tea set provided was in deplorable condition; the teapot was an absolute disgrace, as evidenced by the attached photograph. Despite confirming our dietary request for no egg sandwiches, we were still served one, which is a blatant display of incompetence. The sandwiches were pitifully filled, the scones were tasteless and of poor texture, and the overall quality of the food was shockingly substandard. The fact that other guests around us were voicing similar complaints only further highlights the widespread dissatisfaction with your services. Your offer to return for the remaining 50-minute treatment and access to the overcrowded facilities within the next two years is an insult. This is far from an adequate resolution for the disastrous experience we endured. Given the circumstances, a full refund is not only warranted but expected. I demand a prompt and satisfactory response to this complaint. If I do not receive a satisfactory resolution, including a full refund, within five days, I will escalate this matter further through appropriate channels. I await your immediate attention to this serious matter.

Negative experience: 1. THEY SHARED MY PRIVATE MEDICAL INFO with my colleague who I had gone with. I put on the paperwork twice not to mention this and said the same to the receptionist and somehow the therapist - Zena - still ended up showing my colleague my paperwork causing me so much undue stress and anxiety. 2. GASLIT, LIED AND THEN GHOSTED ME WHEN I COMPLAINED. I was gaslit by management when I tried to complain, then promised a refund and then ghosted. 3. ORGANISATION OF APPOINTMENTS WAS A SHAMBLES. Our treatment appointment was moved 3 times in the run up and they didn't even call to let us know when it got moved on the day of. 4. AFTERNOON TEA WAS TERRIBLE. Felt like you were in a school canteen with a fancy waterfall. Staff were rude and we had to ask for the prosecco that we had paid for and they acted like we were a nuisance for asking. Lesson learnt. If you do decide to waste your money don't see a therapist called Zena if you have confidential medical info you don't want shared with anyone. And don't bother with the afternoon tea.

Negative experience: I booked as a group of 3 for my friends birthday. Worst spa experience I've ever experienced. Was over booked and very busy. Afternoon tea was a complete disaster. We arrived at our table at 5. Drinks didn't arrive until 535pm. Our food was stale and dry like it had been sat out all day. No jam for scones despite asking 3 times. We had paid for prosecco but despite asking for an hour and being told it was on its way they then said they had run out. We were told to go to the greenhouse for our glass of prosecco. Once there they had said 'sorry its all gone'. No replacements offered. We wasted 1hr 40 minutes on our afternoon tea. Management afterwards didn't give a toss. At the venue or afterwards via email. Would NOT reccomend this spa or ever visit again. Even if it was free!

Fantastic experience: Lovely Spa lots of rooms to explore. Had a lovely 90 min treatment which included facial and full body massage which was heaven. The afternoon tea was ice lots of cakes though a savory option instead would be nice for those without a sweet tooth. Lovely day with friends not to busy can't fault anything

Positive experience: Three people group overall had a great day at the spa, but unfortunately one of the massages was not a massage at all compared to previous times and there were a lot of them, also very disappointing was the behavior of one of the ladies during the massage. One of the masseuses had long nails (scratching during the massage), she giggled under her breath a few times, the head massage felt like someone was scratching me and not massaging me.

Negative experience: Lets start with the positives, just what me and the best friend needed quality time travelling to venue together and a lovely treatment. Now for the negatives which actually started yesterday when i called to discuss booking, member of staff sounded on loud specker and as if they where doing other things away from phone at time of call. We arrived early due to living in Birmingham and we left extra time, but got a unfriendly welcome by reception staff. When we met our booking time got directed to changing rooms and that was it. Walked into spa area, confused on where to go and thought we would sit use foot spa to get bearings but out of 6 foot spas 2 worked and where taken, went to swimming pool area, no seats due to peoples towels everywhere, no room in jacuzzi and swimming pool was busy also it was noisy and not a relaxing area, felt like id gone to my local swimming pool. Walked down to cafe and spoke to a helpful member of staff also seemed more of a relaxing place than spa area. it was at this point i was wanting to leave as had no idea where to go for anything, like the treatments we had booked and felt such a unrelaxing environment. Tbh if i hadnt paid so much and travelled 50mins i would of. A few lovely saunas and steam rooms but it was like hit and miss on if you would open the door and be able to fit in due to the amount of people. Afternoon tea was basic, cake selection well that was a small flapjack and chocolate square, something you get from the 2 for £3 in morrisons, took 15mins to get butter for the scone. I did enjoy the relaxing waterfall in there. Treatment time waiting area was very relaxing wish we could of spent longer in there, treatment was nice but 10 minutes shorter than advertised and paid for. Finally found a relaxing area upstairs, not disabled friendly but that was down to talking to other visitors not from the staff and this was at time of leaving. I can honestly say it's the worst spa I've been too not relaxing, we where actually told that today was actually a quiet day. We will not be returning and wouldn't recommend.

Fantastic experience: I went to the Clifford Health Club and Spa today with my husband. It was his first visit and my second visit. We had a fabulous experience right from being checked in and throughout the day. We had a lovely afternoon tea. Followed by a 90 minute massage and facial. This was carried out in a room for 2 which was lovely. The treatments were very relaxing, thorough and professional. We spent the rest of our time in the spa area which was so clean and organised. There are so many different experiences to choose from. The herbal and aromatherapy steam rooms are lovely ands so many different saunas too. I also enjoyed a long swim in the good sized swimming pool and relaxed on the heated beds. At the end of our session I used the showers and changing area which was also spacious and very well equipped with plenty of hairdryers. The whole experience was 5 star and we have already booked to go again. I think this will become a regular treat for us. Thank you to the Clifford spa and staff for making our visit special Sue and George
