Our comment from FitFit UK about Halo Maesteg Swimming Pool:
Halo Maesteg Swimming Pool is a valued community asset located in Maesteg, United Kingdom, known for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Many visitors enjoy their time swimming in the clean and well-maintained water at a satisfactory temperature. The facility features a large rectangular pool with designated lanes for slow, medium, and fast swimmers, as well as a smaller pool that caters to children and families.
Users have praised the courteous and helpful staff, who are always eager to assist and provide a positive experience for everyone. The pool is described as a great place for swimming lessons, with specific mentions of the supportive instructors who engage well with both children and adults.
However, there are some areas for improvement. Many reviews highlight the need for significant upgrades, particularly in the changing rooms and locker facilities, which are perceived as dated and lacking in privacy. Guests have noted issues such as cracked tiles, broken doors, and insufficient lockers that take up space. Parking is another common concern, with limited availability making it difficult for some visitors.
In summary, while Halo Maesteg Swimming Pool offers a friendly and enjoyable swimming environment with great staff and facilities, there is an opportunity for modernization and enhancement to better serve the community's needs.

Halo Maesteg Swimming Pool: Opinions
Positive experience: I enjoy coming here for a swim, and will continue to do so, but there needs to be major upgrades to the place. I'm sure it's more or less the same as it was when I was coming here with my school 25 years ago. The water is clean and a satisfactory temperature but there are cracks, missing tiles, blacking in places. Most of the time there are three lanes in the big pool: slow, medium and fast. All clearly marked with directional and lane etiquette. But this differs depending on the session you have booked for. There is also a smaller pool, too. I'm commenting on the female changing areas: There are only two private cubicles, yet three toilets. Three hot water open showers are located opposite the toilets. Due to the water splashing, this has caused damage to the lower parts of the doors. There are far too many lockers which take up so much space (and are rarely used) which could be used to install more cubicles. The main changing room is large and open, for those who don't mind undressing/dressing in front other users. Long benches around with hooks for clothing and bags. The enclosed changing room, with a baby changing table, is a fair size again with benches around the side and hooks, but the door doesn't even shut and it has a window, so a lack of privacy again. There are two rather warm hairdryers by the entrance to the female changing room. However, that door has a window too, so anyone can see into the changing room. I took some photos of the cubicle room I was in on one occasion and these are just a fraction of the damages which need repairing - and cleaning. Although I've been negative with my comments about the facilities I've encountered, I need to pay compliment to the staff who I have found be polite and courteous. All more than happy to have a little chat when doing your laps. They are committed to ensuring the safety of swimmers. As I say, I enjoy swimming in this pool. It's an asset to the local community. We need to use it or lose it, but it also needs upgrading and modernising.
Hi! Firstly, we would like to thank you for your review and the detail you have provided. On your points raised, we would like to provide you with an update on what we are planning for our Pool in Maesteg: We have instructed a company to provide a quote for refurbishing the changing rooms and we are now awaiting further steps to move forward with this refurbishment. The Lockers would also be part of the refurbishment plan at the centre. We completely understand your comments about the facility being a valued community asset, and we note that the modernisation efforts aim to enhance the long-term community appeal and usability of the facility. Thank you again for your review. Halo Leisure

Positive experience: Staff are fab, it's a shame that everything needs an upgrade. Toilet doors in the Showers are broke and wore away, floor is broke with holes in and uneven, pool has lots of rusty spots on the floor, steps down to pool are not safe, halo needs to spend a few pounds to upgrade as looks awful

Fantastic experience: Great staff. A nice atmosphere and a happy place.
Positive experience: Parking is a nightmare and it doesn't really cater for people who work late of an evening.. However it's a relaxing place with friendly staff
Negative experience: Awful. Staff are very rude. For an example, I rang up asking a question, instead of responding to the question, the individual who goes by the name Jake just hanged up. The people who put 3-5 stars are the ones who do not turn up on the regular basis, whereas I do and they are just very rude.
Positive experience: Nice place to relax and enjoy yourself
Fantastic experience: Excellent guality. for swimming
Positive experience: The changing rooms were difficult to find thro a maze of corridors, apparently they are sign posted but I have poor eyesight and can't see them. I don't use the pool so my only interest is the training room which is adequate for my simple needs.... getting back into some sort of shape after Covid.
