Positive experience: I use the gym daily which is great and staff are great however I've been to the spa 3 times lately and each time there's been extremely loud and obnoxious people with no consideration for others using the spa and staff have passed through and just gave them dirty looks would be better if people are advised before entering to keep volume low for the courtesy of others. Very annoying and disappointed

Negative experience: Since being taken over cafe is terrible no variation of choice for kids box my grandson wouldn't eat anything that was on offer and selection for adults was worse need to go back to what cafe was before plus the website is a nightmare to access and I'm very computer savvi so wise up new owners and do somthing about your failure

Positive experience: Great value for money, needed something to do on a rainy day whilst on holiday. Only criticism is that they only had 3 family changing rooms.

Fantastic experience: The staff were lovely, really helpful and polite. The kids' pool is great, lots of slides etc. If you have young kids worth a visit.

Negative experience: Since the centre changed an owner everything changed to the worse. New owner doesn’t care about your happiness and time. Dirty changing rooms with slippery tiles, often no soap, no paper in the toilets. Inside the pool you often can see sand and odd things, like hair. 2-3 cheep hair dryers, often one only in working condition. In spa zone one of the saunas often closed because it doesn’t work, so if you buy spa-membership you can’t be sure you’ll get relax. It is often too crowded, people have to use two saunas instead of three. They reduced the time of swimming session from one hour to 45 minutes, which is uncomfortable. Now you can’t book a session using your app if it is in less than 15 minutes. Check-in kiosks don’t work properly, you often have to stay in the queue to check in. And at last their website is not convenient and shows not all information clearly for the customer. Terms and conditions no one explain if you buy your membership onsite. Good improvement so far!

Fantastic experience: We always use the leisure centre facilities when staying at the local caravan park. Granddaughters love the pool and small softplay area.

Fantastic experience: Only visited the swimming pool, but I return almost once per week and it's a great pool. Clean, friendly staff, and the lifeguards are always alert and ready. Plenty of changing rooms and good lockers.

Positive experience: Positives: the swimming lessons and instructors are fantastic. Good size car park (although it’s a shame single people feel entitled to use disabled and family spaces with no blue badge) Negatives: the pools are FREEZING. My one year old was in the pool only 10 minutes before he started shaking with the cold. Two other young babies at the time were also taken out of the pool for the same reason. If you have a baby and want to take them swimming, expect to have to put them on the disgusting toilet floor or changing room floor if you need to go to the toilet or get changed. Other leisure facilities in the Scottish Borders have IKEA high chairs ( just £9 each) in toilets and changing rooms. It would make a massive difference, keeping babies safe and secure and off the vile floor. The fold down changing trays don’t have any straps either so as soon as baby is sitting up it’s a nightmare trying to keep baby safe while getting dry and dressed yourself. Places Leisure have got rid of the wrist bands for the lockers (previously rubber ones you can wear in the pool) - this has changed to a card that has to be left as the side of the pool for anyone to swipe and steal your stuff - easy target for thieves. If someone sees which locked you have chosen let’s hope you’ve not got any valuables! Plus, if the card were to go missing you would need to walk all the way through to the front desk dripping wet for them to get you another one. Is that safe? Trailing puddles of water through the building? I’m assuming this cutback is to ensure more profit for shareholders. I feel as if the people who make these decisions don’t have a shred of common sense. One member of the cafe staff if very rude and blunt, brushes off concerns and was seen playing on personal phone and taking a personal phone call while working. 99% of the staff are brilliant, however it’s a shame one person lets the team down.

Positive experience: Super facilities and well maintained. Only thing to be improved is with the manners of one of refreshment service staff. Just a simple please or thank you costs nothing. Wasn’t a one-off either; overheard a few patrons commenting. Letting down a great team. Management have a word…

Negative experience: Poor website unable to see swimming times, no-one answering phone, when finally booked in in person, pool cold, and family changing rooms in disgusting state with litter and thick piles of wet hair over floor. Disappointed as we have used before with no problem.

Fantastic experience: We had booked into Berwick Leisure centre while on holiday at Haggerston Castle. We bought the weekly tourist pass for the gym , pool and class access. We have had nothing but excellent service and advice whenever we have been. Or needed to ask any questions - Felt like a full time member. Gym is air conditioned and very modern . With all machines you need and plenty cardio options . Facilities are immaculate and so much space in the changing rooms etc. I also Enjoyed an aqua fitness class which was very fun and upbeat. We also paid extra to use the thermal spa for 2 nights running as we enjoyed it so much !! So relaxing after the gym.

Positive experience: Nice set up, changing rooms and reception/cafe area. Need to book I believe to ensure access to swimming. General swim at certain times only as before it's laned swimming and 14yr + only so best to check to find suitable times.

Positive experience: It's clean and efficient, clinical even. The pools are certainly not for recreation - nowhere to put a towel etc, in fact you're discouraged from bringing anything into the pool area. The changing rooms are co-ed, private cubicles, lockers. A few showers and hairdryers. The floors are wet everywhere, tho I have seen guys mopping them. The pool water is warm.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant facility. We only. Used the pool. But say adverts for the rest, my wife has decided to start using the fitness classes here on the back of seeing the place, the pool was bright, plenty space and safe for children, we were there with our 1 year old and she loved all the things to play and interact with. Worth a visit and a massive upgrade on the previous fitness centre that was here

It’s very easy and cheap to book thru the app. Very clean and big venue, something for everyone kids bit too swim with water park and slides and bit with shallow and deep end for adults to swim. Definitely recommend to visit

Fantastic experience: Staying at Haggerston Castle, no surprise couldn't get my little girl booked into swimming until 3 days later so decided to try the new leisure centre at Berwick Upon Tweed. Unfortunately due to the time we also couldn't get into this pool. However..... instead of a grunt like I had earlier, the ladies on reception were absolutely amazing. So helpful and understanding and went through times available for the following day, gave my little girl a tour and were just amazing. First class service and with a smile. So thankyou to Sarah and Michelle, such lovely and professional ladies. Xxx

Positive experience: Went with two grandchildren (7 & 4) for the aqua splash. The children really enjoyed it. Probably a little expensive but they probably have recoup some of the outlay as it is a newly built facility. We used the café afterwards it was no more than okay. The staff were pleasant and helpful, especially the young man who helped our granddaughter who managed to use a changing cubicle where the door lock stuck with her inside. The app/ website could be more user friendly for those who are not so good with this type of technology, like me.

Negative experience: All the fun stuff like the play area and the slides were closed and only half of one of the pools open to visitors. So disappointing.

Fantastic experience: Having visited the New Berwick Leisure Centre today I must say how impressed with everything we all were. Everything was very clean and well presented, staff all very helpful and professional ! Well done Active Northumberland on achieving yet another fantastic leisure centre!

Negative experience: Water freezing in children's pool. Big slides "have never been open"- very disappointing. Had to park outside Homebase having circled the very small car park for an eternity, automatic doors broken upon arrival and had to be opened by hand. The whole place is clearly understaffed. If going give yourself PLENTY of time to get parked and checked in. Other than that, it's GREAT!

Negative experience: Small car park for size of the venue, pool almost empty but no slots available to book and staff were not trying to help. Shame, nice looking centre.

Negative experience: Appalling, staff were rude and didn’t help weren’t given enough information so not waste your time go to a different gym.

Negative experience: Just been in for first time to the new cafe ordered a cheese toastie which came out with toast with cheese slapped on the top wasn’t even toasted through very poor value for money won’t be eating here again.

Positive experience: All very good except it was unfortunate that the big slides were not available, probably due to lack of life guards

Fantastic experience: Great soft play, splash pool a little daunting even for my very water confident 3 year old, but will Tey the standard pool next time. Very clean as you would expect and the systems in place are getting faster

Positive experience: Impressive new leisure centre and I'm glad it's there. Whilst the staff are figuring out the new access control and booking system they need more FOH staff - otherwise it's easy to be late for a swimming lesson because you're stuck behind someone with an intractable problem with their RFID wristband. And the water slide is still closed because they're waiting on a health and safety risk assessment from the council, which sounds like a terrible excuse to me. Apart from that... Looking forward to spending more time there in the future.
