Negative experience: I had been a member here for nearly 2 years before recently cancelling ny membership. My main issue is cleanliness. The male toilets are absolutely vile. Equipment poorly maintained and dirty. One piece of equipment where someone had scraped dog muck off their shoe onto it remained this way for nearly a month despite staff being told. There is also a new manager who is simply intolerable and rude. I have witnessed her being extremely rude to a gym member because he was dropping the bar doing deadlifts. She said the floor could collapse.. seems like an issue for her risk assesment to be honest, if the floor can't handle a 60kg bar. (Despite over 300kg of plates stationed a metre away). She was also extrmeely rude to me on the same occasion. Honestly, just pay an extra couple of quid for the gym group round the corner. its much better fitted and despite having more members you can actually use equipment at peak times.
Positive experience: Gym it’s self has decent equipment but the toilets smell like the magaluf strip and it sometimes seeps into the weight area. Also seems to be full of middle aged guys that like to huddle around the one machine for 45mins doing no work and preventing others from getting their workouts in.
Positive experience: Pretty decent gym but I don’t like the grips on the machines. Makes pull day a pain in the arse. Can get quite busy but it’s not really the gyms fault. Men’s changing rooms smell makes my eyes water it’s that bad. Not the worst gym in the world but could be better.
Negative experience: The equipment is okay the staff are okay overall mid but theres one things thats made me right this review and that is the fact that ive been given 2 parking fines for parking outside the gym for longer than 3 hours , even tho i add my license plate to the ipad thing on the entrance so that i dont fet fined ive now spent 90 quid on a membership and 200 quid on fines , absolutely shocking that and i tried talking to the staff the first time it happened and they said they couldn’t do anything because i already paid the fine and its happened again a month later whilst im away from Portsmouth and ive tried calling loads of time and no answer. Very unhappy with this Gym.
Fantastic experience: I went there to see the pain Relief Specialist, great service and advice, I would recommend anyone with sports or niggling injuries to book a session. He also operates out of 24/7 in Fareham, Downend Road.

Negative experience: New Review: Company response was adequate, and they accepted my request for a full refund within 24 hours. Changed to 2 stars out of respect for customer support. Original Review: BUYER BEWARE!!!!! Read for a run-down on the poor and insecure practices that I wished I knew. Careless and fraudulent company. Their website is full of false and misleading information to intentionally fool you into giving them sensitive data, including; 1. False entry promises (the gym uses neither PIN nor fingerprint for you to sign in, instead they require the use of a special-made app which lacks credibility and trust. The staff are unhelpful if you want alternative entry), 2. Hidden details about the security practices. My friend does not use a smartphone and I am unwilling to give my data to untrustworthy businesses. We discovered the security policy when we arrived at the building; you need an app, made by them for them. Buyers like me would like to know what to expect before purchase but I, and others like me, rely on the information on the website to make our decision. The information that states the customer needs an app can be found hidden under a FAQ question titled "Is The Gym Staffed All The Time?". There's no reasonable expectation that such information can be found there. 3. Lack of transparency about security and lack of trust for the customer. The reason given for the tight security is to "protect the gym," which is understandable and reasonable. However, what isn't reasonable is demanding the customer to submit sensitive data to their in-house app without offering alternatives. I don't know the company. I only know what service they provide: gym equipment and the freedom to exercise when I want. No customer should be forced or coerced into giving away their personal and sensitive data to a company that doesn't care about how secure that data is kept. Provided the company had been more transparent with their policies and offered this information more readily on their website, I would have made a different decision. 4. Irrelevant information about this specific branch. Whether the decisions were made locally by a manager or by the owner of the company, the website offers irrelevant information on multiple places: entry requirements, parking restrictions, alternative options. The website should be updated to reflect the branch's specific policies. I don't expect the staff to know these things but they should be more prepared to meet my requirements when I elect not to submit my data to the company they work for. What would've improved my experience is the staff member not questioning my choice in the manner they did. I do not wish to be treated suspiciously because I choose to respect and maintain safety of my personal data.

Fantastic experience: Awesome gym, plenty of machines for every muscle group and heavy dumbells! You won't find heavier unless you're in a spit and sawdust gym. Really friendly staff, glad I gave it a try. Better than Puregym.

Negative experience: Really need to upgrade there mens changing facilities it’s disgusting it’s been the same for year I have been training here , while training in the weight Section it smells like sewers coming from the men’s god to think what the women’s is like !! Has been the same for months I refuse to even have a shower in there the hygiene is 2/10

Negative experience: Not 24 hours… tried to enter about 15 minutes ago, little group of people forming outside and in the entrance, all of whom also cannot enter. Nobody at all in the gym. People resorting to doing mini work outs in the car park! Glad I pay specifically for 24/7 hours at the so-called “24/7 fitness”…

Negative experience: Decent gym but unbearably hot for 4 months a year making it difficult and extremely unpleasant to work out. They've finally put some AC in after almost 2 years but it's weak and not on most of the time.

Negative experience: The main class studio's air conditioning has not worked since October 2022. The owner's seem to think that two fans is good enough in a closed studio with up to 30 people working out, sweating and breathing hard. I would give this gym, its facilities and it's staff a score of 6 but if I could I would mark the owners a Zero! Sorry, but this is appalling neglect and treatment of your loyal clients.

Positive experience: A little dirty, often there are no cleaning sprays for the equipment.
Negative experience: The only good thing about this gym is Stacy in spin the gym is small if 4 people are using a mat theres none available near the mirrors however, have a million running machines which are barely used both upstairs and downstairs. They do not replenish the provided cleaning sprays or paper towels and when requested to top up they say customers should bring in there own. Especially with Covid and how much MORE they charge, this should be a given and looks pooorly on this gym. I would recommend Pure Gym they have ample spaces inside and cleaning products which unfortunately is not a standard here and half the price. I have emailed Gary the director about this but expect and unhelpful response as usual.
Positive experience: Good value gym. Lots of classes. Very cold inside today, but it was -2 outside. Virtual class pupils need to be able to change the volume as it was very quiet and could barely hear the instructions.

I didn't ask his name, but the guy who has been explaining all the operation of the machines to me is an excellent professional, he also made me feel like, I know language is a barrier, but in this case he wasn't. Positive experience: We a first cost is was quoted good, lean and pretty decent changing rooms, good overall equipment. However, preacher bench needs repair (new cushions) and water fountain more like a dribble fountain meant I was lucky to have brought my own water. So please fix these. Otherwise overall good

Fantastic experience: Very good gym. So cheap! They have a corporative membership that applies to some people such as NHS workers that gives 10 months for £99.99. It’s very simple to use machines and so many classes included in the price, no extra charges. They have a big room for classes as well as another room for spinning. Recommended!!!
Negative experience: The only way to get in is by scanning the barcode, which doesn’t always work. I joined 2 months ago and have lost count how many times I couldn’t get in…. it says successful on the app but the light won’t flash green so the door won’t open. Spoke to staff but they just make you scan another barcode inside the staff room and say it’s all done… it still doesn’t always work.
Negative experience: Pictures are deceiving. No cleaning equipments for users. Users don’t clean up after use and it doesn’t seem to bother staff that users leave it uncleaned. And oh…will never get a reply when contacted! Found out that they were charging me for an additional membership via direct debit accumulating to over £150 over 8 months. Sent multiple emails to director and deputy director sarah. c and gary. However no acknowledgements of the incorrect payments were made. Better gyms available in Portsmouth!

Fantastic experience: Great gym, I signed up on an excellent corporate deal 10 months ago and have just renewed for another 10. Gym is clean, tons of equipment for all types of sessions, metcons/cardio/oly lifting and freeweights, cables etc. Nice clean studio, loads of les Mills classes and a cool little disco spin studio too! The pts and staff are all super friendly and I'm shocked to hear George's name mentioned badly in a review here because she is so friendly, smiley and kind, and always willing to help out. Lovely friendly community feel at this gym and have made quite a few friends here since I'm a member. Thanks so much guys :)
Fantastic experience: This may be a nice gym but I really have no way of knowing as you can't get in. I'd be furious if I was a member as there's no card swipe access. I've rang 3 times and it goes onto an ansaphone. I can see the reception desk and there's no one there. I'm sitting outside in my car and have been for 20 minutes.....no one has come in or out. I'm looking to change gyms and this one was high on my list of possibilities but I think I'll give it a miss.

Fantastic experience: Didn't use the gym, I used South Physiotherapist. which was an incredible experience. Fully recommend this service.
Negative experience: I signed up for what was a £25 sign up fee and £20 from the next month onwards. I was charged nearly £40 at first but i let it slide, 5 days later they tried taking the same amount so i made a complaint and asked for my account to be closed. Looks like they did close my account but now im being hounded by a debt collector for not paying for the next month with a late fee added ontop. So they closed my account and i cant access it but im still be charged monthly, i did not agree to a contract it was supposed to be cancel whenever. I never even got to use the gym but so far ove been charged over £100 and now theyre making it impossible to stop the payments. Nothing but grief from this place i wish i never signed up.

Negative experience: Great gym, nice changing rooms, BUT.... The access system is a hell. I changed my bank details recently, and it was impossible to find a section on the website to change my payment details. So, as I missed a payment, I got a mail from a third party that on top of my membership I have to pay extra fee to get my membership back. Fine, I've done that. But now, a week later after I paid all my dues, I am still unable to access the gym?Trying to call customer service and they won't open till Monday morning (it's 9pm Friday). What a waste of time. Definitely, looking for another gym.
Positive experience: Great place to work out, lots of machines to use and a good variety. Does get busy at peak times during the week. I do find I have to wait a few minutes sometimes for the right dumbell weights to be free so I feel more if a selection of the same size weights would be a benefit
Positive experience: Great gym. Better than TheGym down the road for sure. Only thing I don't like his how the toilets always smell awful, but at least they're clean. EDIT: During the summer months they have no air conditioning, making it extremely difficult to properly train. It gets so insanely hot in here, hence why I removed two stars.

Negative experience: Some really shocking behaviour recently from staff members here. One in particular, Georgina Leonard (recently promoted to a managerial role), has shown everything but professionalism - she’s rude, disrespectful and conducts herself in a very immature manner. It’s quite frankly embarrassing for a small gym chain to have such an employee representing your company like this.

Fantastic experience: Today was my first rime attneding this gym and I have to say I loved it! The staff are auper friendly, helpful and very professional. The gym was clean and my Step Aerobics class was great! Hard but I mamaged to get through it. The class was virtual so on a big screen but it honestly was brilliant, I couldn't fault it at all. The gym and class made an excellent first impression and I can't wait to book my next class or just get to the gym for a workout. I highly recommend if this is a place you're thinking of attending. There is free parking which is also a plus, antibac spray, loads of equipment, lovely looking gym. Price is the best for a no contract gym.
Fantastic experience: Really good gym for the price, much better than the other large "cheap" gyms I've tried. Spacious and airy with a good selection of machines, large crossfit area, friendly staff and tonnes of parking. It never gets too busy either.

Negative experience: This is in reference to Better Gym customer services and in particular SARAH ON THE BETTER HELPDESK - seen as this is my local gym and there is no central page I will leave this here. I was offered a membership freeze which I took up as money is tight and I didn't feel comfortable going back to the gym. I received confirmation of my freeze via email but I was still charged. I sent customer services a screenshot of the confirmation email and my membership number so they could look into if it for me. But all I received was a link so I could 'request a refund which will be investigated by the refunds team' and could take up to six weeks!!! WHAT IS THERE TO INVESTIGATE??!! I replied explaining my frustrations and asked them to cancel my membership as I was so dissatisfied and guess what? I received another link so that I could cancel my membership online with no apologies or attempt at resolving my frustrations and retaining me! Just seems crazy during this difficult period that they are happy to throw customers away - as I would have returned to the gym had I not received such terrible customer service. A real shame...
Positive experience: Can't really complain for the price, nice and quiet, distancing measures are in place. Could do with a little refurb in terms of newer equipment. Still happy because I can get a good work out in.

Positive experience: The gym it is amazing. Big, with all sorts of tools for circuit training, functional training, weighlifting, cardio. The have a spinning room and a big studio. I was a member before the change of brand and it used to be very lively, with lots of classes of circuit and functional, challenges between people and it was just always full. It stays a great place to train, but it is not what it used to be. A big plus is the spa. Sauna, steam room... i really like it
