Negative experience: Refused entry despite membership

Positive experience: It was OK plenty of equipment just needs a good clean

Negative experience: I was a member of this gym for two years up until recently, and unfortunately, not much has changed in terms of the cleanliness or equipment state of repair. It is tired and run down, with many safety hazards, such as the weight trees becoming unbolted from the floor, which means they sway and wobble when they are loaded. Some of the arms are either loose, or have broken off, also. The weight plates are damaged, and the raised flooring in the Olympic lifting area splits apart, which I have tripped on and have had to kick back together before. The music played, is very loud - often heard over my sound proofing ear phones - which is always the same thumping genre - and the face I.D. feature for door entry is not always reliable, which has led to myself, and other members, not gaining access, unless somebody else lets us in, which can also be deemed a safety issue. The water fountain pipe burst over the carpet, a while ago, which led to months of a foul smell filling the gym floor. The whole flooring/carpet area is in desperate need of a deep clean and things are rarely dusted or vacuumed. The cleaner/attendant who arrives at 6am, often goes out to smoke as soon as he arrives, before coming in and walking past members on the cardio equipment and filling the area with the tobacco smell. The gym policy states the youngest age of members allowed to join is 16, however, I have often experienced groups of younger teens attending when the gym is not staffed over the weekend, and entering on one membership. One of the reviews below also confirms this, as a 14 year old was granted a membership. The toilets/changing rooms are often unclean, in need of repair, with no toilet paper, and smell foul. The blue roll dispensers around the gym are also, often, empty, and bleach bathroom cleaner has been known as equipment cleaner, in the past, which is harmful to skin, and has led to skin peeling from my fingertips. I have never used the PTs, but I think it is important to remember that they work elsewhere, too, so are not what my review reflects, as they are only an appendage to the gym, itself. It is a shame that management have had to recently employ the persuasive and somewhat immoral tactic of placing posters (see photo) around the gym, asking specifically for a, ‘5 star rating’, in exchange for members to possibly win some Beats ear phones, in order to keep their ratings up, which is why, I would assume, there has been a recent influx in 5 star reviews. This gym, in comparison to many others, is not worthy of 5 stars, currently. I have raised many of these issues with management, in the past, so they are aware. I hope that this review assists with improving the overall state and safety of the gym, for its community, and what they deserve. I have transferred to a gym community with better offers, cleanliness and a wider range of great equipment, for just £3 more per month. Best of luck with improvements!

Positive experience: Good range of equipment but gets very busy, even early in the mornings. Men's lockers could do with a bit of a revamp, as could the showers but it's worth the money and staff are friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking available as well.

Fantastic experience: I was looking for a gym for my 14 year old son a lot of gyms don't allow that age (including my gym) I have previously visited gym for myself and didn't join at that time but my recent visit we were both very impressed it is clean and cool on a hot day , Chris who dealt with us is a top guy very friendly. Now I just drop my son off to energie and my gym is just 2 minute drive away , I would join myself but you know dads embarrass they kids. Looks very safe facial ID etc, good parking not to busy just don't go peak times I never do to any gym. Top marks Energie team my son loves it.

Fantastic experience: Good gym. Staff always talk. Equipment is repaired within a few days if damaged. Clean. Not 100 percent sure if everyone is a member late evening though. Can be 5 or 6 young lads huddled round a machine and you never see them face scan In or out on numerous occasions.

Negative experience: After being a daily going member for 2 years, paying full membership through the pandemic when the gym was closed to ensure its survival, I found myself greeted today by the awful customer skills of Energies manager. After a period of time off the gym I decided to go in today on a guest pass to consider rejoining and I was told because I was a former member I couldn’t use the pass and had to pay £10. I’m sorry but it’s not just the cost, it was the awful personal skills of the manager, rude, unwelcoming and quite frankly, ungrateful for even having someone walk into the gym. I will never rejoin this gym and will be deterring ever gym going person I know from now on. Shame really, another Lincoln business poorly managed. I hope it shuts down.

Positive experience: When I first joined energie fitness I left a review basically saying it's an adequate gym for the price but could do with a good clean (in a nut shell). Since this review I have seen the gym improve week to week! The cleanliness is much improved, the equipment, if broken is fixed within a timely manner and the staff who I have got to know are warm and friendly. The main reason I wanted to leave this review is because of soap! Yes soap! Such a small detail, however when I mentioned it had ran out in the ladies the response I initially got was that "there is hand sanitiser avaliable to use" Personally I like to wash my hands with good old fashioned soap and water. Anyway I let the staff know and explained sanitiser doesn't remove the black marks off my hands from the rubber on the weights and kind of left it at that. Today (the next day) I walk in and I am assured there is now soap in the toilets. What a service! Going over and above for their members. Much appreciated Thank you energie fitness

Negative experience: The worst management ever, so incredibly rude calling me a little girl and undermining my intelligence. Owner even turned up to my house without prior notice! Awful gym, the face ID thing is always faulty and half the equipment is fixed with duct tape and hope. They never email you, they just expect you to always be available via phone call. Clueless manager and even the staff don't know what they're doing. Gym is fine when it's quiet, but if you want effective customer service you're better of elsewhere. Even Lincoln City is much nicer in terms of customer service, go there instead!

Fantastic experience: Been using it for nearly a month now; super clean and not massively busy, which is excellent. Loads of machines and equipment to use. Cheap for students. The staff are super friendly and always helpful. They just need to pay for premium on Spotify

Positive experience: As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. The equipment isn't in the best condition, the changing rooms are a bit grufty and often locked, leaving only 1 disabled toilet and shower available in the entire building. Also as far as I can tell, the air conditioning/heating is switched off out of peak hours, so it's either freezing cold or red hot depending on the time of year. That said, it's 10 quid a month cheaper than any other gym in Lincoln so while I'm happy to put up with these minor inconveniences for the sake of a tenner a month (protein powder ain't cheap), not all of you will.

Negative experience: Very poor customer service about everything joke of a company

Positive experience: It's a great gym, the only thing that does not make it 5 stars is that they lock the toilet at 10pm which is frustrating when you can only train later in the evening.

Negative experience: Good equipment, just a massive shame that the membership has been such a pain. No online access to the online classes despite paying extra, have had help from the manager of the online and still nothing sorted. Was told in the gym they'd refer my account to the manager, nothing sorted. Try to cancel to restart my membership and was told I'd been called when it had worked... 4 days later no call and found out the cancellation was for over a month later. Just such a faff. All I want to do is some online yoga but after a month I'm still chasing to figure out why I can't.

Negative experience: ❗❗❗❗DO NOT START YOUR MEMBERSHIP WITH ENERGIE FITNESS!! If anyone is thinking of joining this Gym I BEG you do not do it. It has been a nightmare for me to cancel /freeze my membership and they kept charging me throughout the lockdown. When I decided to finally cancel my direct debit to their Harlands group they are now harassing me with "outstanding balance" and it is impossible to even contact the company. It is a NIGHTMARE to get out of this membership once you subscribe ❗❗❗❗

Positive experience: Great gym nice and friendly. Has good leg equipment, a decent number of cardio machines. Has a squat rack, Smith machine and several other squat machines. 2 sets of cables and lots of other weight resistance machines for training back, chest, shoulders, arms...whatever you need. They have a studio for classes as well and it’s really good value for money!!! Would have given it 5 stars but some of the equipment is showing its age a bit. They are talking about new gear so will revisit this review when that happens :0)

Fantastic experience: Great gym with a laid back atmosphere. If you dont want to go somewhere with a load of steroid abusers grunting and groaning then this is the place!

I understand it's a gym and therefor customer service is not their forte but surely the manager should have at least basic customer service skills!! So long as you never need to speak to anyone about any issues then the gym is fine otherwise prepare to be spoken over constantly and to have to repeat yourself numerous times to get your point across. And under no circumstances ring them about your direct debit as you will be told VERY CLEARLY that this is not their problem as it is done by a different company.....fyi

Fantastic experience: I love this gym! I started with a payasugym pass and tried quite a few other gyms around Lincoln first till I decided on energie! They have a fresh vibe here that makes you really want to push yourself and reach your goals. I love that there are lots of machinery options and free weights as well as an extensive cardio area. The team are super nice and happy to help! Definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member of this gym for just under a year and one of its big selling points is it’s smaller size. At Energie you never feel like just another person amongst a sea of equipment like I’ve experienced at bigger gyms. From attending the classes I know most of the instructors and they are all friendly nice people who are happy to help you. When classes are due to change content or day/time, I’ve often been asked for feedback and suggestions so you are able to have some input which is nice. As the gym has grown more successful that has never changed and feedback is always welcomed. The classes are also well attended by all ages and abilities and it’s not just large groups of women which I have come across elsewhere. It’s far more inclusive than that. When I came in on a guest pass last year the Manager was expecting me and showed me to the studio. Granted he may have just been free at the time but as first impressions go, you can’t ask for more than that!

Fantastic experience: I've been a member since the gym has opened. Micheal and his team do a great job, staff are always friendly and helpful and assist to reach your goals. In the last year I've started doing a number of classes a week and I've lost over a stone and the classes are always spot on. Amy's boot camps are very challenging and enjoyable.I also find the app for booking classes very good.i fully recommend this gym and most of my family are members now

Negative experience: Bad experience from start until now. Joined over the phone, and arranged induction. The time was arranged but no one was available. Decided to cancel and go elsewhere, as was on 7 day trial. Was told no problem and they were sorry. 2 days later they take a full payment out of my account. Complained and was told again sorry and will organise refund. I'm still waiting for that refund a full two weeks later. Awful management. I also asked for a call from the manager but this has never happened.

Negative experience: Just joined the gym due to being 5mins from work. Equipment is fine although some bits tired with rips. Biggest issue is the mould and stench in the men's changing rooms, toilet seat broken(when I went in today) and not fixed to the floor! Note the mould issue's been going on for over 6 months according to other posts so maybe instead of saying it's being repaired give a date for when it's going to be done. Now not the cheapest gym around so it's not a case of "you get what you pay for". Staff seem nice enough though, although could be high on mould spores!

Fantastic experience: After joining last week, me & my partner were made to feel right at home! Everyone has been so lovely and helpful. The facilities are always clean and tidy. The trainers are always around to help if you need it. We are yet to try a class, but they look fantastic! The trainers are full of energy and great encouragement! So pleased to have joined and looking forward to seeing some results!

Negative experience: Equipment looks crowded, hard to get the machine you want at busy times. Little help from instructors and gym took a considerably long time to reply to contacting them. Definitely not one of the best gyms I've been too.
