Newburn Activity Centre

Fantastic experience: Good place for badminton. We arrived 15 minutes before our court was booked to play badminton; they didn't make us wait and we were allowed straight into the badminton court without waiting. The prices are reasonable and the place seemed clean. The badminton court was very quiet and clean, and we played a good game of badminton without any disturbances.

Fantastic experience: Well maintained venue, nice flat pitches

Positive experience: Nice park with river Tyne as backdrop. Great for a walk with family and friends.

Negative experience: Awful experience booking in Badminton for today. Arrived 3 mins before scheduled arrival time and the whole place is shut, with no communication about this. We stated a few times that we'd be coming on Saturday, and were given the option of 3 or 4pm (so we picked 4, unbeknownst to us that it was shut). Abysmal service, complete wasted trip.

Positive experience: Newburn activity center is a very welcoming activity centres with loads of activities for all ages. The have five a side football pitches, 11vs11 football pitches, a cafe, gym, sports halls, soft play area, and loads more. The staff is very friendly and helpful with prices that are affordable.

Fantastic experience: I love this place. I seen a comment about the toilets being dated and smelly. I can honestly say, yeah, not the newest facilities BUT this whole place is spotless. Cleanest gym I've ever worked out in and believe me I've been in many! I can't speak for the gents loos but other than that it's a 10 out of 10. Staff are awesome too!

Negative experience: Very disappointing visit to soft play. Worn out slippy dangerous facility badly repaired stuffing coming out of equipment. Taking 2 little ones at a cost of £10 total complete waste of money.

Positive experience: Good leisure centre with everything you need, child does gymnastics here and enjoys. There is a small soft play upstairs which is reasonably priced and always quiet whenever we've visited. Centre is a little run down but has everything you need.

Fantastic experience: Was there for a Christening. My first time in the place and I have to say,it was immaculate and staff friendly and pointed out that there was a lift,bonus! Room was well presented and just a nice place for a special occasion.

Positive experience: Spent an afternoon here with my son and his football team participating in a tournament. It is a smaller set up than we have previously used for such tournaments, and weirdly has a pylon in the middle of two of the pitches which I found a bit worrying! The pitches them selves were well kept but definitely could have done with having the lines remarked prior to the tournament. Inside the centre however needs a lot of work - the ladies toilets were in a disgusting state, locks hanging off, no toilet roll, unclean and no working hand drier! The staff were friendly. I think it would have been a great opportunity for the centre to have a raffle during the tournament to raise much needed funds to update the changing rooms/toilets.

Positive experience: Daughter does gymnastics here and she loves it. There are an abundance of activities to choose from, something for everyone. Toilets are a bit dated and smell quite pungent unfortunately

Positive experience: Not the most friendly of welcomes but it was a good little gym with well maintained equipment.

Positive experience: An old wall that looks tired. You have to pay for an induction. And so does everyone you go with. Even before you climb it's not worth the money. Maybe a few visits over a six month period. School groups abound, so phone ahead. It is however featured. Is it worth the journey? There's a nice pub next door. The blue lamp. Brew their own.

Positive experience: I have visited here for around 8 years now to use the climbing wall. It is really good value for money and very family friendly. I would definitely recommend a visit if you want to try climbing or if you are an experienced climber. If you are wanting to try climbing you must book a climbing induction. I have done various courses now with Chris the climbing instructor and have always found him a fantastic instructor.

Positive experience: Great sports centre located next to riverside park. Large car park, outdoor five-a-side courts, large sports field. The main building has a reception leading off to large sports hall which can be sectioned of for various activities e.g. badminton, volleyball, indoor five-a-side, separate smaller studios for karate, etc. Upstairs has bar/lounge with veranda overlooking sports field and the Tyne river, gym with extensive range of equipment and soft play room.

A lovely function room for parties or meetings. And lots more. Well worth a look to see what's on offer.

Fantastic experience: A great place for adults and kids alike with a range of activities including Judo, Tae Kwando, a climbing wall, archery and soft play for the little ones. They also have a gym and bar area which can be hired for functions. A great resource to have on your doorstep. Staff are very friendly and helpful too.

Positive experience: Play badminton with friends here. Good car parking. Changing rooms and showers are always clean and warm. The overhead lights in the sports hall can be very dazzling.... Not great for badminton. But the leisure centre is friendly and accessible and convenient
