Nova Prestatyn

Positive experience: We come here a lot, and the views of the sea are superb. Coffees and food are always enjoyable and it is always clean. They have recently introduced table service, which is ridiculous in a place like this. Today, there were only two tables in and two staff behind the bar, so I tried to order our coffees on our way over to the table (we know the table number) but we were told to go and sit down. We then had to wait for someone to come over. Some people might like it, but it really isn’t for a place like this. Would have given it 5 stars if it wasn’t for this.

Negative experience: This review is for the soft play only We visited the soft play for the first time the other day with our 1 year old. This soft play was awful wouldn’t advise anyone to even bother going to pay a visit especially for the under 2s. This softplay was awfully managed my daughter got knocked over a few times nearly because there were no staff managing the under 2s so older children were not being told to get out of the under 2 area where little ones were playing or even telling the parents to get their children out of these areas. There was also hardly anything for them to play with as the soft play items for toddlers were being taken up to the top bit by the older kids. Will not be going back to visit again wouldn’t even rate this a 1 star

Positive experience: First time in the soft play despite being to the beach and surrounding area many times. Pretty good facilities and different to see that the toilets were made for kids. The soft play was quite spacious and just what the kids wanted whilst the costa at the cafe was what the parents needed

Negative experience: We checked out of the holiday cottage by 8.30am on Saturday morning in time to run Prestatyn parkrun at 9am which was lovely. We then just wanted a quick shower here to freshen up for the rest of the day. Most places will charge and let you use the facilities. But at Nova this would involve a) paying for a swim - fine and also b) waiting another 20 minutes for a “slot” which was then going to need another ticket on the car. Why does this have to be so difficult? You’re right beside a parkrun. It’s even called Nova Prestatyn Parkrun! So much for promoting health and fitness. We’re now driving around, sweaty and getting cold, looking for a more helpful leisure centre.

Fantastic experience: Love the soft play area, especially my daughter. The cleanest soft play we've ever been to. The staff on the soft play reception are always friendly and greet with a smile. The staff when ordering food are also really helpful and friendly

Fantastic experience: Good gym, a wide variety of machines, equipment and weights, a lot more to offer than Rhyl Leisure gym. I'd recommend coming here.

Positive experience: The Nova is a great budget friendly swimming pool with a decent sized pool. It's very basic, don't expect slides and rides, and for some reason the baby pool is always closed. There's a little cafe and play zone available and the kids love it, though the cafe prices themselves are what you expect. I've never tried the gym so can't comment on that.

Positive experience: Kids love the soft play area. not bad however bit pricey large chips (frozen cheap ones) nearly £5 got: Latte bottle pepsi max bottle tango orange fruit shoot 2 small chips 2 large chips came to £29...... bit ridiculous on the food prices which is a shame as if they werent as expensive people would buy more instead i saw people bring in sandwiches in there bags n crisps etc... hygiene 3/5 food on floor, tables left dirty between customers. staff 4/5 cant really say anything as they seemed friendly enough, could of done with a staff member in the soft play keeping eye on some of the kids who are a bit heavy handed with smaller kids.

Negative experience: Play area good but dear for food children's meal £7 50 while l was there with my gran children a family got put a cake to sing happy birthday when a member of staff confronted parents in front of the children to say not allowed considering the charge to enter drinks think this could have been dealt with in a more appropriate manner instead of challenging in front of children and spoiling their time think they should bring charges for meals down and let people enjoy facilities that are payed for and are quite just thinking before you open your mouth

Negative experience: This review is for the soft play, not the facilities but the absolutely extortionate prices they charge for food. Our daughter wanted something to eat so we got her one of the lunch boxes and was flabbergasted to have been charged £7.50! Upon opening the box it was comical... it comprised of a cheese sandwich which was freezing cold and obviously been in the fridge for more than a couple of hours as it was semi stale, a packet of wotsits, a milky way and a small carton of juice (a brand I had never heard of). We couldn't see that costing more than £1.50 to put together so putting £6 on top is scandalous. That along with the premium price you pay for drinks and the not so reasonable £7.95 entrance fee makes it ridiculously expensive to go, especially if you have more than 1 child. I would advise taking your own drinks and food in if you do pay it a visit

Positive experience: The Nova has a nice swimming pool and excellent gym facilities. There is also a large children's play area and a cafe.

Negative experience: The cost of the food and drink is astronomical. I don't recommend this place just based on this

Fantastic experience: On the beach. Staff very friendly and indoor play area great for kids. You can tell its a well managed place. Can't recommend it enough.

Positive experience: Most of these issues has been fixed bu the are some that still remains. The hairdryer, the hand dryer and the extractor fan doesn't work in the changing room. The hairdryer's cable is also exposed. There is never any soap to wash hands with. More than half of the lockers are destroyed and unusable.

Positive experience: Excellent facilities all nice and clean. The grand kids loved it

Fantastic experience: Nice clean pool and changing area. Communal pool side changing cubicles and lockers. Timed sessions with coloured wristbands. Plentiful on-site parking, but parking is chargeable with pay and display. The pool has swimming lanes, and they do aqua aerobic classes and swimming classes. There is also a soft play area with climbing and slides for younger children on site. There is a Cafe that serves snacks food and drinks with a Costa coffee. Also a bar .

Positive experience: Nice food in The Beach Hut with outside eating area. Carpark, Playpark, promenade and beach right next to it and icecream parlour with lovely hand made ice cream.

Negative experience: I took out a membership after looking at what classes they have that I am able to do, and after booking the classes I’ve turned up and the classes have been changed, from yoga to circuits, not even nearly the same. I have rheumatoid arthritis and was wanting to do yoga, their answer was well you can use the gym if you can’t do the class !! Furious, I’ve contacted the membership team via email for a refund on my membership and I’ve had no response!! This is very poor management and misleading. The membership cost me £45 for the first payment, it’s been 2 weeks and I’ve not been able to use it !!

Negative experience: The beach side cafe is pleasant enough, nicely presented and the staff are friendly, but somewhat unmotivated. The food is average mass catering type fayre. Think pizza, chips, burgers etc, not top quality, but not unpleasant. The issue with the cafe is the service process, it's incredibly poorly managed. The staff themselves tend to be younger people, probably earning themselves some money during school, college etc and fair play to them. But, whoever is managing this place needs to sort themselves out. Twenty-five minute waits, not to receive food, but to queue to order the food, is just ridiculous. The staff are simply not deployed properly. One young man taking ALL the orders, making up all the soft drinks AND serving them to the tables while four other employees wander around, seemingly aimlessly, collecting the odd piece of used crockery is just silly. Oh,and given the average food quality, it's definitely not cheap.

Fantastic experience: Childrens soft play area is excellent

Positive experience: It's a good soft play area for the kids. Multiple slides and rope climbs, plus a toddler area. It's hectic at the weekend, obviously! Don't bother with the cafe, though. It's basically warmed up microwave food that is severely overpriced. Easy to get to by car or bus. There are two playgrounds, amusement arcades & the beach all a stones throw away.

Positive experience: Great soft play, toddler area was small with bigger kids coming in and out due to no staff supervision or signage of an age limit so lost a star

Positive experience: I only use the soft play for my 4 year olds and the Costa cafe for a drink. It's sometimes a little busy, but still a great place to go. Food is slightly over priced but great service regarding order process.

Negative experience: Staff were uninterested in helping with joining and did not want to help.

Positive experience: Great for kids in the soft play area, however food & drinks are way too expensive, also could do with having someone to clean the tables and floor more often. Not pleasant sitting there with remnants of people's lunch etc

Negative experience: Absolute disgrace charged £10 just for a shower I explained water frozen in my caravan shown my owners pass which is meant give some discount refused to just let me shower unless i bought day pass £10.00 very unhappy with this we was going to register for gym etc after xmas ....wont be now feel very very bad experience £10 for 15 mins in shower

Positive experience: Nice swimming pool and changing area but swimming is a bit pricey. The cafe part is good when they have enough staff and the food is always very tasty.

Negative experience: Went to the soft play with my two children, my two year old had a fun time dispite being unable to play with his sister because the lack of safety in the toddler play section, where not only my 9 month old was almost stomped on but other little ones as well by a lot bigger kids that had no right to be in the toddler play section this has ruined the overall experience and very disappointed in the lack of care from staff not making sure the toddler area only has toddlers

Positive experience: I’ve been taking my baby swimming lessons here since she was four months old (minimum age) and they are just fantastic. She now loves the water. Bath, shower, sea paddling pool. She loves to splash and never has any issues with water splashing her face. It improved her motor skills and she loves the instructor. I’ve also taken her to soft play here (she’s eight months) and it’s nice there’s a separate baby/toddler bit. However, a four year old boy was picking on her last week. (If she crawled over to a toy he would pick it up and throw it away from her, kept calling her names etc) so it would be nice if staff were around to ensure older children were not permitted in this area or stopped this behaviour from happening. Couldn’t find the parents. We’ve had food from their cafe and I wouldn’t rate it. The Costa coffee is okay.

Fantastic experience: We visited Nova for the soft play, which was fantastic. It was massive with plenty of room to play for hours, also if you decide to go on a Tuesday it’s half price (£1.95). They have a cafe which serves coast coffee and a wide range of food! The building has a swimming pool and gym also included. The whole building was spotless and really modern. Would definitely visit again.

Negative experience: Absolute joke of a gym been training there for the last couple of months and it's just getting worse and worse. Today walked out after about 30 minutes as I got pi**ed off unloading machines after other gym goers (ego lifters). 11 of the 13 weight stations left loaded up from previous lazy gym goers this was at 9am (either been a really busy morning or not tidied up from the previous day). Dry stains on the padded floor area where people had dropped protein shakes etc (again from the previous day / week ). Not a gym attendant insight today to report the issues to, but even if there was I feel as if it would of been a workout in itself to prise him from his mobile phone.

Negative experience: Staff at the gym are confusing was told there was a free day pass on 1 day then the next day was told there wasn’t .

Negative experience: Attended for the family swim session 1-2pm today. I was advised to arrive 15 minutes early it is first come, first served. Arrived 20 minutes early and had to pay to park before finding out if we'd get in. Stood in the queue outside in strong sunshine with young children. Was not told until 1pm that we would not get in. I really hope this system is reviewed and adjusted. We won't be returning to find out though.

Fantastic experience: Great pool, gentle slope to a max of 5ft deep in the middle, with a shallow splash pool for the little ones. Ideal for a family splash out of the heat or out of the rain.

Fantastic experience: Great facilities and people. Sarah on reception and Adam in the gym were excellent; welcoming, knowledgeable, top people.

Positive experience: Went here for the soft play area. Seems like it's been refurbished since the last time we went. Seemed to be clean and the staff were friendly. Plenty to choose from the menu for food and drink.

Fantastic experience: Great place to sit and have a pint next to the beach

Positive experience: Large facility and good fun for the kids, especially as there’s not many of these places around here. Offers food and drinks. Could use more staff to keep the tables clean and tidy as often left full of finished food, attracting flies. Just short of £8 per child for 2-hrs play.

Negative experience: 5th birthday party today. Food was ok but came out late. Had to wait ages for the cake to be cut and we paid for icecream for everyone and it melted before we could hand it out and it tasted funny. They were slow to clean the tables. Just didn't feel looked after at all. Bit disappointed but the kids enjoyed them selves.

Negative experience: Really disappointed today. The staff were very apathetic inside the restaurant. Had to keep asking for service. Loaded fries was great but toffee pudding was served with strawberry and chocolate ice-cream which was really not nice. Said vanilla on menu. Why would you not being a 2 year olds food first. For both mains and pudding she had to wait.

Negative experience: Very slow service. Coffee was OK. But spoilt by the waiting time to be served at the table and then given the drinks . Wasn't a busy time in the day. And staff knew we when we went in. Would I go again. No. I'll try the cafe in the arcade across from the nova

Positive experience: Went for a party at the soft play soft play staff were lovely the new play area is ok but now you can't see your kids at all while they play as they have pitcher infront witch isn't good if you have smaller ones. On the bad side though the kitchen stuff wernt as nice and were quite hit and miss some didn't no and other flat out lied about drinks available to kids demanding we pay when they were serpose to be included with party for the soft play staff to step in and sort it. Maybe a one off for the kitchen staff but don't feel like that's the case but all in all it was ok for the kids

Negative experience: Stood waiting for 20mins to be seated, ignored by staff which should of acknowledged us and the long queue outside. Seriously overpriced, 1 kids meal, 1 bowl of chips and burger and chips with soft drinks £28. Food wasn't even that nice. Cold, greasy Asked for the bill as we were told our slot had become free for softplay. Another 15mins later nobody came. So we went to the desk to pay. As for the staff especially one guy had the personality of a wet mop. Ignored us etc. Will never be going again. If I could give no stars I would.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love The Beach Hut at the Nova, Prestatyn. Its a very warm and cosy atmosphere with very great and friendly staff who are very happy to help in any way. The food is excellent. This afternoon we had a beautiful Sunday carvery I would highly recommend. They also do Costa coffee drinks and hot chocolate another bonus especially this weather. It is very clean and plenty of tables. Another bonus it is dog friendly which we love and we enjoy a walk along the promenade afterwards. All in all we love going to The Beach Hut anytime of year and so will you.

Positive experience: The gym is ok, pretty small but most of the things you need are there. Problem is it's full of teenagers taking up machines and benches whilst sat on their phones. When its busy you can't get on much as they flock around, not actually doing anything.

Fantastic experience: Since it was renovated the Nova is fantastic. Great place for kids swimming lessons and adult exercise classes, the soft play is prefect for younger kids, the Beach Hut Cafe is lovely and the staff are friendly & helpful. The evening opening hours are prefect for having a drink and snack /meal while watching the winter waves or summer sunset. Being dog friendly makes it even better. Don't forget it's the base for Prestatyn Park Run every Saturday at 9!
