Our comment from FitFit UK about Lee Valley Ice Centre:
Lee Valley Ice Centre is an impressive ice skating facility located in London, United Kingdom. The centre boasts a very spacious and modern design, providing two Olympic-sized ice rinks that are perfect for both beginners and experienced skaters. Users frequently mention the affordable prices, with easy check-in processes and lots of parking available, which is free with registration inside. The venue is known for its friendly and accommodating staff who assist with skate rentals and provide helpful tips for skating.
Many visitors have enjoyed their experiences, particularly during Disco Ice evenings, which add a fun twist to traditional skating. The facilities are generally described as clean and well-maintained, contributing to a positive atmosphere for family outings and special events.
However, some users have pointed out areas needing improvement. For instance, there are complaints of overcrowding during peak times, particularly on holidays, which can detract from the overall skating experience. Additionally, certain facilities, such as the gym and café, have been criticized for inconsistency in service and cleanliness. Some customers have reported issues with the skate rental process and poor music selection during disco sessions, which can affect enjoyment.
Despite these drawbacks, the Lee Valley Ice Centre remains a top choice for ice skating in London, offering a great opportunity for fun and exercise for all ages. Visitors appreciate the beautiful surroundings, including lakes and benches outside, making it a nice place to relax before or after skating.

Lee Valley Ice Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Very spacious, affordable prices too.
Fantastic experience: A fantastic discovery, we had so much fun on the ice! Lots of parking, free when you register this inside, and friendly staff. The skate aids are perfect for even very young children. We'll be back very soon!
Fantastic experience: Great rink, helpful staff, nice clean facilities
Fantastic experience: A brilliant modern venue that makes it easy to take part and learn ice skating or even dancing-skating on their regular Disco Ice evenings! ⛸️
Positive experience: Great rink, nice facilities but the kids skating need more supervision. Too many teenagers were speeding with their Go Pros filming tiktoks and flying in between people who are still learning to skate - saw a lot of falls caused by them. I think all in all the staff spent 10min on the ice rink, and instead of telling people to slow down, was skating dangerously himself :/ There should really be an adult-only session at least once a week to avoid the disappointment.
Fantastic experience: Maximum parking time 4h what about competition day ?
Positive experience: My second time at disco skating and I really enjoyed it. However, they should really improve the music (some boring play list, no hits) and ask people to change the direction after the first hour. Skating in the same direction for 2h gets tiring and affects the joints unevenly. The ice wasn't refreshed throughout the session, which I thought was strange as it is standard to run zamboni every hour in other rinks I've been to.
Fantastic experience: Good quality skates, organised and efficient staff. Easy to book and attend
Negative experience: Nice rink, poor facilities. Cafe never seems to open on time anymore. Staff just seem to turn up when they feel like it
Fantastic experience: Lea Valley ice center (Very white)
Fantastic experience: I love that area so so so much People are so kind to skates are so comfortable the toilets are clean the gym oh my God, the TV you can watch Netflix anything you want
Fantastic experience: Had a really, really cool time. I was whizzing around and round. ❄️⛸️. Everyone was friendly and super helpful. 5 stars ⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐.
Negative experience: I had a disappointing experience with the staff at this venue. When we requested to have a look at the ice rink before making a booking, both the reception staff and the security guard were unprofessional and rude. Their response, “We don’t know you,” and their refusal to allow us in was dismissive and unwelcoming. This lack of courtesy towards potential customers was very off-putting.
Negative experience: Went there, got a parking ticket. They said it would be revoked if I proved I was a customer. I sent through my receipts of purchase. It was not revoked. Parking company also asked me to agree to terms and conditions when half the document was missing. I pointed it out to them and they didn't even acknowledge it other than to increase my fine. I repeatedly appealed to both the centre and the parking firm on the basis I was a customer. A complete shambles. I'll never use this service again. They may have got whatever percentage of the fine they get, but they won't get another penny out of me. Not worth the risk.
Negative experience: Horrible experience, Too many rude kids speeding around the ice swearing and sitting were you are not allowed! Will not be returning Needs new staff they are rude young kids with no respect. Last time I was here I saw the manager having a fight with kids, also needs security because of the amount of violence in here never again
Fantastic experience: Great place for ice skating:)
Fantastic experience: The best ice rink in London in my opinion with 2 Olympic sized ice rinks, nice changing room with toilets and shower, cafeteria, gym, under the roof bicycle parking, and a very big car park. The only downside is the car park operator who never fixed the slow working car registration applications and if for some reason your registration is failed without your knowledge, you’ll receive a parking ticket from them. So be prepared to at least spend 5 minutes to make sure you car registration is completed.
Fantastic experience: Really nice large rink. The staff at the reception is really pleasant, they made me a hot chocolate when the self service machine didn't work :)
Negative experience: For the price the gym conditions are appalling and unacceptable. The water fountain has been broken for 3 months. On top of that the temperature at the gym is kept too high.
Fantastic experience: Good location. I liked the concept of small pond outside the building and a walk around the building. The ice ring area is done up nicely and accessibly cafes around to relax.
Fantastic experience: great prices + accommodating staff
Negative experience: I hope the staff could do something when there are crazy freestyle skaters in their hockey skates who go speeding in the rink. Funny how most of the time there are staff in the rink but they allow this to happen. These skaters don't care about their safety nor the others'. At their speed, if they knock into anyone it could easily cause a broken bone. The staff I met at Lee Valley are great, but I hope they could do better on this issue.
Positive experience: Staff mostly great however several sat around doing nothing although prompted by another member of staff to get involved. Blades on skates among worse I've ever used. No edges meant most people were sliding around with little control. I had to have mine changed several times however I eventually gave up. Would not come back here as wouldn't risk skates being a problem. On a plus note the grounds are amazing. Car park beautifully landscaped.
Negative experience: I joined to use the gym this week. I got there and there is no way to connect to the internet. It’s like being in a lead box and the cloud wifi just doesn’t work. This means I can’t watch YouTube workout videos/be in contact with anyone when inside. The water machine in the gym has been out of order since march. Apparently they are waiting for a part. You’d think they could provide an alternative source of water. Instead you are directed to the changing room of the ice rink. This is a large 2 flights of stairs down and you have to ask staff for access. Really inconvenient. I then used the toilets, the tap didn’t work so I couldn’t wash my hands. Basically a brand new gym with no water or internet. Tempted to ask for a refund but the convenience of it being right next to me is the only thing stopping me.
Negative experience: Appalling attitude and extremely poor customer service by the English female staff at the main front desk, her name is ( Lea C ). I hope senior leisure centre management make a note of this and implement serious measures to improve the service by replacing their disrespectful and incompetent staff with better ones. We visited this venue on 27 May 2024 at around 1pm.
Negative experience: The employees are incredibly rude to children and do not show any respect or any sign of sympathy if children fall or have injuries on the ice rink. My little brother attended a school trip, it was his first time ice skating, and when he would fall or hurt himself, the employees would either shrug their shoulders or respond with rude negative comments and bad attitude.
Fantastic experience: Great place for ice skating in East London. Good ice and decent skate rental, but can get quite busy at times.
Negative experience: The Wifi doesn’t work and staff have no clue how to help with this (not their fault just no training and no accountability) - the centre and HQ take no responsibility. Lead times on a response from customer services are very long. Multiple machines not working properly by connecting to the app. Today the water point is broken and it’s hot and nearest point is 5 mins walk into the rink changing rooms. It’s a shame a I like the fact it’s a CIC and the space and machines and locality are superb, and some of the staff are really really lovely, but the lack of accountability for fixing issues has got too much so had to cancel. When I asked if there could be some discount for the fact I haven’t been able to track workouts or listen to music and the slow customer care wait times I (eventually) got this: “3.6 We may sometimes need to postpone, alter, cancel or introduce new activities temporarily or permanently at any time for any reason, including in response to customer feedback and/or to withdraw equipment and/or facilities for any reason including but not limited to maintenance, repair and alteration. We will, where reasonably possible, display notices in the facility or contact you by email as far in advance as possible to advise you of such a change. 3.7 We will not reduce or refund any Fees because of or in response to such unavailability of facilities, whether or not this is due to the programming of activities and classes but if We make a significant change You may cancel Your agreement in accordance with the cancellation provisions set out in Clause 5.” The price point resembles that of a mid market centre that cares but the customer care is much worse than budget gyms
Fantastic experience: The best ice rink in England for sure.
Fantastic experience: Amusing amazing experience, it's a nice place even for beginners
Positive experience: A brand new facility to replace the venerable centre. Excellent sight lines for Hockey.
Positive experience: Rated this experience four star. Would happily given five star if only they providing sharpen ice skates considering they are hired.
Positive experience: This is a WORLD CLASS facility everyone should explore. BUT there are some issues around temperature control that need to be addressed. Spectators to either of the TWO Olympic class rinks should wrap up very warm! Once resolved and the access control/zones are worked out, this will be 5*
Fantastic experience: Beautiful new facility. Two(!) state-of-the-art ice rinks plus a great cafe and gym! Friendly, chill (no pun intended) staff.
Fantastic experience: Been there with family and had pleasant experience. Hourly rate of 10 plus 3 for the skates was good price. Check in was easy. We all were ice skating for first time and got additional support slide for the younger one. So it was mostly an outing for new experience. There were many first timers along with us, so you had to be careful not to bump into others. Also has coffee shop along side, so you can take break n munch of you wish to.
Fantastic experience: Needed online booking. If you coming the ice center don’t have to pay parking , but you have to go inside register your vehicle. Affordable price, friendly staff, clean facilities. We take our grandchildren a was good fun.
Fantastic experience: I take my 7 years old daughter there and she always have the best time, great service. Recommended
Fantastic experience: Two rinks, public skating kids friendly, another rink for ice hokey games and professional skating, very good gym and decent cafe. Great addition to Clapton
Fantastic experience: I just love it... Best in town for ice skating, and I mean that! Greenwich and docklands are just not there yet
Fantastic experience: Spotless! Not cheap for skating but great fun. If you are taking a car DO NOT PAY FOR PARKING!! it's free for 4 hours if you go inside and pop your reg on the pad at reception...or pay £4 an hour ....just saying.
Positive experience: The disco skating experience was good and very fun. Nevertheless, it would be nice if they were checking that people aren't skating crazy fast by the other people, especially when there are children and beginners. It wasn't fun to feel like you were going to fall/ slip just because there are reckless people.
Negative experience: I've been doing lessons here for a few months now. Marika, Mina, Chris and team do a great job and the facilities are excellent, but this place is so badly managed and the customer experience is very poor. It is made very clear that management have designed lessons to take as much of your money as possible and minimise what you get in return. First, the lesson pricing is bizarre, advertised at £44 a month, but in reality you need to pay nearer to £100 before you can even attend a single lesson. If lessons are cancelled, no money is refunded, emails will generally be ignored. One month I paid £44 and there were only 2 lessons on in that period, and I paid the same for months where I got 5. There is not a course, there is no "taster" option to try one or two classes. The subscription is continual, and cancelling them is a pain, requiring up to 2 months notice, so if you need to stop for an injury or it just isn't for you, that's another £80+ of lessons you pay for, unused. Lessons are just 30 minutes long, and frequently closer to about 20 minutes after figuring out which class is which, taking the register, taking notes, falls on the ice - this is not really long enough to learn a new skill, and I assume this is by design to keep people paying for longer. It takes several minutes to even get back used to the ice each week. The quality of teaching is great, but when a quick 2-3 minute question about technique is 10% of your lesson time, it can feel quite rushed. Every lesson can be a very different experience. It's very rare to have the same teacher a few weeks in a row and the class size ranges from 6 people per teacher to 25 depending on the day. This can mean the skill level and maneuvers you learn one week are dramatically different the next, and may go back again the week after. Some people are informed the price includes staying after the lesson to practice, most are completely unaware and miss out. Groups are often randomly split and shuffled so you're not with a consistent class to get to know other people. There are weeks you don't need to check in, others you do and it delays the entire class. It would be much better if you could arrive and check in with someone before going inside, who tells you your teacher today and the class you are in - the first time even knowing the class has started can be confusing with all the noise and rushing in the skate hire area. I think the staff here are great, very friendly and highly capable, the facility is very impressive, but management don't care about customer experience. Why would they? They have made it so if you come to just a few lessons, cancel and never come again they'll still get like £200! Lee Valley Ice Centre, do better.
Fantastic experience: Loved it! Massive rink, friendly staff and great ice - had a wonderful time with the kids! Not too dear too and the rink is open all year round!
Positive experience: It was nice and not to cold . I will definitely be going again
Fantastic experience: A welcome upgrade to what used to be a run down venue. www.londonschbuild.co.uk
Fantastic experience: Game on All or nothing, Skating on ice, Two teams, one dream, to win Great atmosphere, viewing stands, ️ Parking, wheel chair friendly, Buses, family friendly 10/10 All up grades in place Part one
Positive experience: We love going to ice skate. Pros: It's great fun. 1 hr is enough for me as a total beginner. Plenty of parking space and it's free when you book a ticket for any of the activities. Cons: There's a coffee shop with not enough tables and chairs.
Negative experience: Maybe it would be good if any of the staff actually cared about enforcing the rules or if any of the nasty rude children cared about following them. There wasn’t even a member of staff on the ice 90% of the time.
Fantastic experience: Love the new center. I use to come here 2 decades ago. I took my daughter and she enjoyed herself was not to busy at all.
Positive experience: After refurbishment, that place is really nice. I would recommend booking online as I witnessed people being sent away as it wasn't possible to buy tickets before the session. You can rent equipment and skates are rather new. Availability of the children aids - polar bears is very limited, and it is not possible to book these online, why I don't know. That way, you are forced to return in your socks or skates ⛸️ to reception to pay for aids rental. It's total nonsense. In fact the session admissions and rental are the things which are very wrong there. There seems to be also no ice preparation between the sessions so later sessions have very questionable ice quality. It is still good fun for the whole family. We were there already couple of times. Unfortunately for that place it is run by Better. So nonsense processes and lack of any family friendly pricing.
Negative experience: MISERABLE PLACE. Miserable workers. We sadly didn’t make the 930 cut off time for disco ice skating because the bus we intended to get in London fashion never arrived. After committing and hurrying over in an Uber in excitement we were met with absolute misery with a worker quite literally yelling at us to leave at 10 reiterating the last sessions cut off time. I had looked forward to coming to this event for weeks and came to test the situation out before inviting many of my friend but I would rather recommend them to a Swedish prison based of that horrendous interaction. Also this was a final straw for me as a better membership holder. Membership canceled.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff. Great ice rink. Big up Lee Valley Ice centre.
Fantastic experience: Great day out for the kids. Staff are so friendly.
Fantastic experience: The place has been rebuilt, it's bright, the skaters are nice. Overall good experience on a very large ice rink with great ice.
Negative experience: Unkempt facilities and cleaner issues! Remembering that this venue has only been open for just 7 months, I had a very unpleasant experience at the ice centre today. I needed to use the facilities ahead of my gym session, and the male changing room attached to the gym is STILL out of bounds. (This has now been since Christmas.) I tried to use the disabled loo but found that there was urine everywhere, the toilet had not been flushed and there was no toilet paper. I went to reception and reported the issue, (the employees didn’t seem to care) and asked to use a toilet next to the ice rink. This did not fair any better. The one cubicle that had a lock on the door didn’t have any toilet paper, and the cubicle that had toilet paper didn’t have a lock! I returned to reception to again report the issue and was once again met with complete apathy, as if me requiring their help at the venue was interrupting their day. I was then directed to the ice rink changing rooms, which have toilets attached. Here I was faced with a toilet that had clearly not been cleaned for at least a day, covered in urine stains and full of toilet paper. I cleaned up as best I could considering, and then found out that the toilet didn’t flush. I really don’t understand how after only 7 months this venue is already being run into the ground. This is all on top of the bins in the gym over flowing with tissue, running machines not working, the blinds at the front not working, and water machines not working. Where are the cleaners? Where are staff that take pride in their work? Where is the investment back into the venue?
Fantastic experience: Great skating ring with high quality ice. Nice friendly stuff. Absolutely love it.
Positive experience: Looks great inside and out after the renovation. Top tip on parking…you don’t have to pay if you are ice skating. Fill in details indoors because that covers 3 hours. The cost of parking otherwise is very expensive. The centre is starting to show signs of not being looked after. Limescale and dirt in the toilets.
Positive experience: Very big ice rink, staff were nice and the skates in good condition. However it does get really expensive once you add in skate hire, and with kids the skate aid is £5, and then £8 for parking over an hour (which is inevitable).
Positive experience: Great place for skating but it is very crowded in holidays. You could reserve on better UK app. In addition they have gym, cafe and bike / car parking area.
Fantastic experience: The staff here are so lovely! I fell a couple times while skating and the staff on the rink came over and gave me tips on skating which motivated me to stay on the ice a little longer. when i did get off the ice i had an unfortunate interaction with some other customers and the staff member i spoke to (at the skate hire counter) was so lovely and validating and reassured me that he would deal with the issue. I really got the feeling that they all provide great customer service because they genuinely want people to have a good time, not just out of obligation.
Fantastic experience: Finally got to come here with my daughters school. Absolutely loved it. Joy to be Skating on real ice instead of all that artificial stuff. Nice new building too
Positive experience: We found the staff here quite rude and abrupt felt we where spoke to in an unnecessary tone.
Fantastic experience: Great place for ice skating, the skate rental went very smoothly and the place wasn't too crowded either
Positive experience: Nice experience but to many people on the ice at one time my grandchildren got upset and had time come off less people more injoyment.
Fantastic experience: Love the new ice rink, has a beautiful picnic area outside
Fantastic experience: Great family fun, good value day out. Lucky to have such a great facility on our doorstep - loved it!
Fantastic experience: Really clean, self service available, staff are absolutely fantastic. There is a gym which is good. Ice skating ⛸️ is really good for a family day out. You can do a yearly pass or pay as you go. It is £8 for juniors 16years and under And £10 for adults. You do need to pay an additional £3 to rent boots. Car parking is available. It’s lovely to just walk around the Lee valley also! Beautiful. There is a cafe also.
Positive experience: Fun , went ice skating at a good price ,skate hire charge ( including) as well came to a total of £11( kids) and £13( adults)
Positive experience: Very helpful staff. Could do with schedule themes or let the guests request for music... acknowledged special events like birthdays, anniversary...free parking too. May need to invest in personal skates.
Positive experience: End of Feb 2024 update: Men’s changing room by the gym is still closed. No communication from Better. Unbelievable! January 2024 update: Three of the six new treadmills are out of service with a note stuck to them saying they’ve been out since Christmas Eve. It’s now 10th January - so when will they be fixed? Also, the men’s changing room is blocked off with tape. Will we be getting a credit back due to lack of facilities? Gym is brand new but very dirty. Matted floor area covered in dirt, crumbs, and dust. I’ve emailed about this twice with no reply - I’d talk to the front desk but there’s always a queue. Changing room smells too. Hopefully they notice this and up their cleaning routines. They have fantastic equipment, including brand new Technogym treadmills however for some unknown reason the ‘Connect with Apple Watch’ feature isn’t enabled. Please switch this on so we can better use the functionality!!
Positive experience: Nice big rink, easy check in process, not enough of the kids supports to go round
Positive experience: Ok , so I have to say the ice rink is great size and the price is ok - I know ice rinks smaller more crowded for higher prices - i have only two issues here - the ice rink should allow children older than 5 and some height to use the skating aid (pinguin) - my son had serious problems to get on as he was simply anxious of all the people around - he has no diagnosis although he is being assessed for special needs including DYSPRAXIA, and Autism- this left him very vulnerable around and he was refused the skating aid which inflicted in him hating ice skating after trying second time. First time he had the aid in another place. Second issue - the cafeteria staff could learn not to roll their eyes on customers spending quite a lot for the food especially someone who is with big family there - otherwise all great but not sure if we return soon
Fantastic experience: Great investment from the lottery fund. Exceptional teachers and a lovely environment.
Fantastic experience: Modern ice rink facility. Helpful staff and you can either bring your own or hire ice skates from Lee valley. Very very big ice rink and you can pay for personal ice skating tuition. Highly recommended!!!!
Fantastic experience: Amazing place. Have the coffee shop, have the option to book slots there and online.
Negative experience: It was a nice novelty having a brand new facility with 2 rinks for the first few months but now it's wearing off and there are leaks, problems with the showers/toilets etc. The staff are nice enough but the GLL like in Streatham wasting little time running the place into the ground. Why don't management make use of both rinks, when there is no public skate? *Edit* Nearly a year on and whilst the leaks etc. are fixed, what I suspected is coming to fruition. The ice gets progressively worse each time I visit, GLL has one job to do and it can't even manage that. Seriously hire some staff who can maintain the ice properly!
Positive experience: good ice rink but they don't offer ice-skate sharpening service
Fantastic experience: Quite large ice ring compared to the others I went to. Sessions are 1hr 30mins, which felt long and had enough time to somewhat learn how to skate £3 to rent ice skates. Free parking if paid for session.
Fantastic experience: Probably the best rink in the south . Awesome ! We need more investment in other rinks like this one.
Negative experience: I am appalled by the PayByphone/Parkingeye at lee valley ice centre payed for 1 hour and arrived at 4:56 reasonable enough time to sort out the kids, parking, skates, entry ect and actually got off the ice early to beat the line of kids dropping skates back, so that we could leave on time. I left the car park at 18:09 unable to update my parking for the extra 5 minutes because they only offer parking for a 1hour minimum, when there should be more options available and have just received yet ANOTHER parking fine from these unreasonable people. No leniency whatsoever, I was the first person off the ice. Lee valley should have remained closed! It’s over-expensive charging nearly £15 pp (not including skates JOKE!) and clearly targeted towards the influx of wealthier families who have moved into the area, Alexandra palace is where I’m going from now on LEE VALLEY IS NOT WORTH THE AGG.
Fantastic experience: Took my daughter for an ice skating ⛸️ session with her friend. Ice ring for general skating is very large and supervised by lovely staff who was very kind and shown my daughter basic skills If you want to stay by the ring and watch, make sure you dress warm, it's sooo cold there..alternatively you can go to a coffee ☕️ shop where it's warm and get some warm brew. Overall, I would recommend
Fantastic experience: Great ice rink ⛸️ lots of fun and good price
Fantastic experience: Most of the time I cycle infront of this place. I never expected that, Lee vally Ice cetre is such a wonderful place. They have a huge collection of various type of skating shoes. First time ever, I steped on the ice . I felt like, I'm a baby who is tring to learn walk. I fell down mutiple times and managed to do some minor sliding. This Ice centre is the suitable place for having fun with friends and family. They also offers coaching for people who want to learn ice skating.
Negative experience: Sorry I didn't visit the ice rink but just parked to visit the park. £8.60 for 2 hours is extortionate and probably deters people from visiting the park and rink
Positive experience: First time back at the rink since it reopened. My daughter loved it as she's never been ice skating before. I would say it's quite pricey just for the sake of it. If you don't have skates it's £13 for an adult and £11 for a child. We'll definitely go again though.
Negative experience: The treatment of the Lee Valley Lions Ice Hockey club by the owners of the new rink is absolutely disgraceful! You aren't allowed to park (not great for players with all their kit and fans travelling from long distances away). The club also aren't allowed to charge an entrance fee to the games (how are the club supposed to cover costs?) and limited to 100 spectators a game! Are the owners of the rink trying to destroy the hockey club?
Hi Kari, we appreciate your feedback. Hopefully you're aware we're in dialogue with Lee Valley Lions to resolve any concerns regarding access or travel to the venue. We hope to see you again at the venue soon!
Fantastic experience: Absolutely love the place, lot of space around, nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Don't forget you can register your car when you get into the ice rink building, there's a console to register your car for free parking if you skate there, we didn't know so ended up paying for ours...lol
Fantastic experience: Lots of people have reviewed the ice centre - it’s great so not much to add there. But we did eat in the Brew Street Cafe so thought I’d leave a mini review. They do the usual selection of hot/cold drinks. Food wise we had pizzas and Greek souvlaki. Both really good! The prices seemed fair (around £12 for pizzas, £8 for chicken souvlaki) and the quality was impressive for a small cafe in an ice rink. Recommended.
Positive experience: Nicely refurbished, lovely outside area, clean inside. A bit pricey (£5 to rent to kids polar bear!)
Negative experience: Not allowed to use the car park as a Lee Valley Ice Hockey Team supporter ! No explanation or reasoning
Negative experience: Facilities are so cheap certainly not comparable to the old centre. Also Car Park beware your getting a ticket and hour charge is £5. Was free before.
Fantastic experience: Amazing ice rink, very happy free parking if you’re in
Positive experience: Kids birthday party. Staff helpful Please note that skating aids NOT ALLOWED to non skaters over a certain age / height. We was not advised this and has some disapointed kids. Tbis mayne obvious..TAKE A JACKET.. its an ICE Rink so you are going to get cold watching. Cafe on site nor too over priced. Would use again but, would advise non skaters 1st
Fantastic experience: The place has ice-skating ⛸️ area and cafe. Outside Lee Valley there are flowers and a water area and also benches to sit on and eat/drink. There is cycle parking at the front.
Fantastic experience: Very clean. Friendly and extremely helpful staff. I live in South london but go ice skating here.
Positive experience: new and improved! i was a frequent visitor at the old ice rink when i was in college and the centre has improved drastically since then. i would say the skate hire extra charge is a bit steep at £3 per person because other rinks have the charge included within their booking prices. overall its great, very accommodating for beginners and kids with the ice penguins.
Negative experience: This review is based on the gym and not the ice rink. Not sure who signed off on this gym but it seems half baked. I thought initially they had opened while still awaiting the last few bits, but after speaking to staff they confirmed that this is not the case. The cardio and resistance machines seem to be fine although all the resistance machines are cable based and the only plate loaded machines are the leg press and chest press. The free weights area is seriously confusing. The positive: there is a good selection of dumbells and benches to use, that's it. The negatives: there is only one rack in the entire gym. There is a flat bench but no incline bench. You could use the rack if you want to do incline, but yet again there is only one and then it's a lot of faff to set it up. There's a huge lifting platform, but no bumper plates to do any proper lifting and not even any plates close by so a lot of carrying back and forth. I'm not really a fan but there is no smith machine either. The functional area is also very basic in comparison to other gyms even in the chain. There are no exercise balls, no bosu balls and there is an olympic bar but again no plates to use with it close by. Overall it's a nice space but seeming to lack a clear direction and disappointing as a brand new gym. It also seems to be quiet at the moment so you can get a workout done without waiting, but that's just my experience during the off peak times. Not sure how busy it gets during the peak times. Hopefully they get some more equipment in, they have the space, but it seems there may be a while before that happens.
Fantastic experience: I came here for the first time after the pandemic. It was closed for about a year for their £1m refurbishment. It was so outdated before the refurbishment, and now looks very modern and such a lovely environment, even just to chill out! There’s two little lakes outside it with benches… perfect for a summer lunch. They’ve also utilised the space better to make the car park larger and the centre is also bigger. I know it also has a gym… not sure if it has anything else in there. But it’s two floors too. The changing area is much bigger and also has many lockers too. The place is spotless, and has a nice cafe which is available for customers, even if they aren’t skating. It was a good visit, and I definitely will come back!
Fantastic experience: Incredible venue, very lucky to have such a world class facility nearby.
Negative experience: I waited 15 minutes for a tuna melt toastie? I've worked half my life in catering so I know this is ridiculous. The catering is run separately to the ice rink so I feel a little guilty affecting the rating
