Negative experience: Gym itself is mostly well equipped and swimming facilities are nice. However, lack of mats available and swim lanes are too narrow for more than one person. Reason for low review is inconsistency in customer service across staff. Had extremely rude encounter with one member of reception team over 2 weeks ago. Management have still not bothered to respond to any of my emails and impossible to speak to anyone on the phone regarding the matter. I really would not waste your time joining if you are looking for an overall relaxing gym experience. Especially for an extremely high price point.

Negative experience: I have been a member of David Lloyd Kensington for two years and have always appreciated the amazing staff who work there. However, my experience with the management team during my attempt to cancel my Platinum membership has been incredibly disappointing and frustrating, revealing that the club seems to care more about money than the well-being of its members. When I signed up, the salesperson failed to explain the process for leaving the club. Over the last few months, I asked at reception multiple times about the notice period for cancellation, and I was consistently told it was one month. In mid-October, after moving out of London to Watford and leaving my job, I applied to cancel my membership which would make december my last month per the "reception" team. I sent emails and tried reaching out to the team, but it took them a full month to respond. When they finally did, they requested excessive documentation—almost as if I were applying for a visa. While I understand they need proof of circumstances, their lack of communication and empathy was shocking. After jumping through hoops to provide all the proof they required, I requested a phone call to clarify the situation. A staff member named "Z...." eventually called, listened to my case, and seemed to understand the problem. However, after that call, he never followed up. Was I supposed to chase him and the team endlessly to get a resolution? This lack of accountability and communication is unacceptable. Eventually, I received a response saying, "Sorry, we cannot cancel your membership until February." Are you serious? Despite proving that I’ve left London, left my job, and cannot afford or attend the club anymore, the only thing the management seems to care about is squeezing out more money. This isn’t a service-oriented approach—it’s a blatant disregard for the challenges faced by your clients. It’s a shame that a club with such excellent staff is being let down by a management team that prioritizes profits over the well-being of its members. I intend to explore the legality of this treatment and cancellation policy, and I will ensure others are aware of how David Lloyd Kensington handles such situations. If you’re looking for a club that values its members, look elsewhere. This level of service and lack of compassion will only lead to more dissatisfied clients and the eventual decline of what could have been a great establishment.

Negative experience: Really poor money bleeding company. They charge you over £20 per month just to pause your membership yet paused memberships-months don’t count towards the 12 month contract. So they’ve roped both me and my partner into a 12 month contract that my partner can’t cancel because she paused her membership half way through the 12 month term while she was away for work. I understand a 12 month contract is a 12 month contract, but to be able to charge customers for pausing their memberships and have those months not count towards the 12 month contract is shameful and daylight robbery and to be honest as I’m writing this in questioning the legality of such practice. I would not expect such a robbing service from a supposedly premium establishment like this morally reprehensible company claims to be.

Negative experience: I was thinking of leaving DL before my membership renewal because its overpriced and the services provided across the clubs visited is subpar. And what happened below was one of many reasons, I decided not to renew. I recently had a bad experience at David Lloyd Kensington. My phone was stolen when I left it charging for no more than 10 minutes, when I went to get a drink of water, despite someone "handing in the phone case". Staff mentioned they can't accuse the man who handed in my phone. Yet I managed to go and get my laptop from my car, go back to DL and using find my iPhone, tracked the person with my phone, who was only 4 minutes away. Even though my phone was tracked to North London, I never got my phone back and had to then spend money to get a replacement sim and phone. The club's lack of CCTV and security measures in key areas is unacceptable. Plus when speaking to staff, the feedback differs from knowing there is an issue with thief from having no idea this is a problem at the club. Yet, the police mentioned they have even raised concerns with DL Fulham about the frequency of thefts at this club and mentioned they asked DL to put signs up about the issue around the health club. Also, the new gym renovations didn’t make it better, those egym machines take up too much space, exercise mats on the floor has been moved to the back in a corner with no mirrors and an often problem in the lifts stop working.

Positive experience: For the size of the facility the changing rooms are tiny. Otherwise need proper signage around the saunas and steam room. Entered with hotel guest access and used the pool which is nice and the jacuzzi

Negative experience: No wifi below ground floor for several weeks. All we hear in return is that IT is aware and working on it. How is that normal for a gym to have no wifi when we need music and online workout access to enjoy our time in the gym. I used to do a lot of classes but had to stop because the classes get to be overcrowded with a total disregard for safety and comfort. There is always one thing or another not working - lift, leaking ceilings, wifi, constant refurbs, cold water in the showers, clogged toilets, etc - and all of the issues last for months as if they are just a normal part of our life, the response is a usual “we are working on it”. Despite all of this we are never offered any discount for the inconvenience. Wifi is honestly the last straw - if it doesn’t improve, i am gone at the end of my contract.

Negative experience: My experience in this David lloyds was so poor. I was expecting much more, the showers flooding, small areas, confusing lifts, staff that looks angry and not welcoming. Honestly I thought this David Lloyds was gonna be better than the one in Acton but it’s far from being at least decent. Never coming back there. I do not recommend it

Negative experience: Very strict with their cancellation policy and I was given the wrong information by the sales manager who left the club and said I could cancel at any time as long as I have passed the first year contract or I have a medical condition so I have made an accident and I have reported that to them with proofs but they still doesn’t want to cancel the membership and at eventually I got a call from one of the membership team who was very rude with me and ended hanging up the call in my face

Negative experience: Lifts are constantly having issues and it’s a maze taking the stairs. Aircon was out for over a month in the Blaze studio with zero notice to members. Blaze studio consistently locked when virtual class should be started and you have to notify front desk. Large renovation underway no concession made to members. Currently in a dispute regarding cancellation. I would not recommend.

Negative experience: The gym renovation is a massive downgrade to the gym. The spacing of equipment is poorly thought out and means you’re overlapping with other people. It’s as if someone designed the gym space having never looked at a gym before. The EGym is a poor excuse for gym equipment and logging in then staring at a screen to workout is ridiculous. It’s a massive waste of space. Finally, they have halved the free weights, put the squat and deadlift section next to the entrance door (again, fanatically inept thinking) and put a hip thrust machine outwardly facing the whole gym. I look forward to cancelling my membership and going to a real gym, not a glorified hotel gym. Thank you for the upgrade, it is impressive how much you have systematically ruined a perfectly good gym space. Enjoy hiking up prices next year!

Negative experience: The renovation in the main gym is horrible, half the gym is taken up by "5egym" machines that are garbage specially considering they removed some of the already limited amount of benches and dumbells. If you are serious about weight lifting avoid this gym at all costs.

Negative experience: Stay well clear. For £145 a month you expect luxury given you can get a membership to a decent pure gym for almost half a year for this amount. Luxury is far from what you get. Firstly the equipment is sub par - they have now re done the main gym and put on all new Egym equipment which shows a lacl of research has been done into the target audience. People don't want to have to connect am account for some smart equipment when thete are only 4 seats for free weights. Secondly the staff at the bar are rarely bothered to male you a drink and act as if they hate every second of what they do. Thirdly the amenities are lack luster. The swimming pool is dirty, the showers don't work, the whole complex feels old. Do yourself a favour and don't let these people rob you monthly for £145.

Negative experience: I have been a member for several years. The only good thing about the club is a handful of talented instructors and even these have dwindled over the years. There is always some issue or the other to deal with - the booking system is down, lift broken, toilets clogged, ceiling dripping, child pool off limits etc etc. The club is managed and operated by disinterested and unhelpful staff with a “computer says no” attitude who never do what they say they will. Overall disappointing experience.

Negative experience: The club itself is fine, but I was lied to when signing up for my membership. I went in with the intention of signing up, so there wasn’t much sales which had to be done from their side. I told them I wanted to sign up for a year but explained with rent going up there is a chance I would relocate home and if so, could I cancel. I was told with 100% certainty if I proved I was relocating I would be able to cancel and even though there was a local club I said I had an alternate gym I’d be using. Again, I was told not a problem, obviously just to get me to sign up. The lady then took my phone and gave HERSELF a glowing review of my signing up process. I didn't mind because had she not lied, she did her job as she should have. I wont name the person because its David Lloyds fault for clearly incentivising 'get them to sign up at all costs' and fast forward to now as you can imagine, DL are refusing to cancel and I’m stuck paying for the whole year...
Fantastic experience: I love this gym - it’s become my haven during my postpartum and I’m so grateful for all the staff there. Katja Ewald is my absolute hero! Her classes are so fun and she is the best PT. She always brings smiles and energy to her classes and as a PT she really listens and focuses on my goals and form. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: I had an amazing experience with Melika. I looked and toured a number of gyms in the South Kensington area and none have compared to the facilities and staff at David Loyd. When I enquired about the gym I was taken on a comprehensive tour by Melika no more than 10 minutes later where all of my questions were answered. Later a meeting was set up to obtain membership which once again was a very easy process. I would highly recommend David Loyd to anyone looking for a gym or workspace close to home.

Fantastic experience: I have just joined last week and after viewing different other gyms in central London, David Lloyd Kensington certainly topped it by far. Hurley Woodford was super helpful setting up a viewing and did a brilliant job showing me the facilities. Additionally, he helped me finalise becoming a member and then helped out during my first day at the gym! No wonder he is the employee of the month! True asset to the team ;). The gym is clean and has a great vibe. Has everything one could want and just helps you relax after a busy day. Truly makes me want to go every day!! Fantastic experience: I've been hearing wonderful things about this place but I had to try it for myself. Melika helped me and guided through all the amenities with a fantastic attitude and a lot of clarity, in less than 30 minutes I was already officially enjoying the club. I definitely recommend it, whether it is for multi-workout, for its classes or simply to relax in a pleasant and quiet space.

Positive experience: Been there with a friend and her kid. The staff in cafe wasn't too friendly. But in general the staff are friendly. Clean club tho.

Negative experience: This place is falling apart, things always going wrong with showers out of order etc . - the lifts are periodically out of service and incredibly slow even when they work. Management refuses to reinvest in a new lift system which is astonishing given they charge £160 per month. The whole places needs a completed comprehensive refurb and new lifts - until that happens people will continue to leave as it is currently a rip off.

Negative experience: Facility is good, but the staff responding to the query to the membership people was clearly unhappy. Rather than trying to help the person find any possible way, I was kept being told that 'email to XYZ, unless there nothing we can help. that's it'. Expensive money, but not the service quality in terms of account management. I haven't experienced such a cold message from no customer service.
