Our comment from FitFit UK about Sports and Wellness Hub:
The Sports and Wellness Hub, located in Coventry, United Kingdom, is a modern and spacious sports center that offers an impressive variety of facilities catering to both students and the wider community. Visitors appreciate the well-maintained and clean environment, with a range of activities available including a large gym, swimming pool, climbing wall, and various sports courts.
Highlights of the Sports and Wellness Hub include:
- Modern, well-equipped gym with a vast selection of machines and free weights.
- Impressive climbing facilities that are beginner-friendly with helpful staff.
- Clean and tidy premises, including better than average changing rooms.
- Good parking options and convenient access to the site.
- A lively atmosphere with a friendly and supportive community.
However, some users have raised concerns that may affect the overall experience:
- Overcrowding during peak hours, particularly with students, can make using the facilities challenging.
- Administrative issues and slow customer service responses have been reported, particularly concerning membership cancellations.
- Some facilities require better management to improve cleanliness and organization.
- Recent price increases may pose a challenge for potential users, especially students seeking affordable options.
Overall, while the Sports and Wellness Hub boasts excellent facilities and a vibrant community, addressing the noted concerns could enhance the experience for all members and visitors.

Sports and Wellness Hub: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Good sports centre with many facilities
Negative experience: I used to frequent the Climbing Gym at Warwick Sports Hub, drawn in by its excellent facilities and the friendly, knowledgeable climbing staff. Unfortunately, my experience with their membership administration has been nothing short of appalling. This organisation appears far more focused on securing direct debits than providing a clear or customer-friendly membership process. I submitted a cancellation request at the beginning of October, yet I have been charged for October, November, and December. Despite multiple follow-ups – four phone calls and numerous emails – I have encountered slow, inconsistent, and ineffective responses from their team. To make matters worse, the cancellation process is unnecessarily convoluted. It involves completing multiple forms, many of which contain redundant fields, creating an inefficient system seemingly designed to deter people from cancelling. The result? People are left paying for memberships long after they’ve stopped using the facilities. As of writing, my membership still hasn’t been cancelled, and no refund has been issued for the unwarranted charges. This speaks to a shocking lack of competence, organisation, and accountability from the administrative and membership staff. While the climbing staff and facilities may be commendable (when not completely overcrowded, which happens often), the administrative failings of Warwick Sports Hub severely undermine the overall experience. Until these issues are resolved, I cannot recommend this organisation to anyone seeking a straightforward and fair membership process.
Negative experience: The instructor for Stage 1 children has changed over ten times in the past seven months, which is completely unacceptable. Furthermore, there has been no opportunity for children to progress to the next level, as no proper assessments have been conducted. This entire experience has been a complete waste of both time and money. The lack of organisation and accountability is deeply disappointing.
Positive experience: Very clean, the service is super good.
Fantastic experience: Very well equipped gym
Negative experience: i think that the sports centre could have more loyalty rewards for customers that have signed up or have been members for a while to enhance the overall experience
Fantastic experience: The climbing centre is well equipped. Very beginner friendly with helpful staff and plenty of easy climbs.
Negative experience: The sports centre was once a great place to visit, but since the end of September 2024, my experience has been overwhelming. They launched a marketing campaign aimed at enrolling as many people as possible, without considering the facility's capacity. This has resulted in overcrowding at all times. Booking a fitness class has become nearly impossible, as they are always full. In the gym, it often feels like you’re walking around just trying to find a free machine, and you'll likely have to queue for one, at all times. Additionally, finding an available locker or a spot to sit in the changing room has become a struggle. Overall, my experience has been anything but pleasant lately. I question whether the membership is worth it, especially after the recent price hike. It was worth it before, but now, I would say it is not.
Negative experience: While the facility is top, they have oversubscribed it and it’s always very crowded. It feels like they are too greedy and have allowed new people in above the capacity. That means overcrowded facilities at all times, lowering the service quality…
Positive experience: Good parking and lots of facilities machines and huge rock climbing walls. Cleaner than most changing rooms.
Fantastic experience: It has been renovated recently, the renovations have greatly improved the gym.
Negative experience: I want to bring to your attention the current situation at the sports center. While the facilities are indeed impressive and the entire center is very modern, it seems that the recent push to attract new members has resulted in overcrowding in the gym and fitness classes. As a result, it feels like paying for a subscription doesn't provide the value it used to. I've tried going at different times, from 5 pm to close to the 10 pm closing time, and have consistently found the gym section to be overcrowded, with long queues for the machines. Therefore you mostly waste your time waiting. Also for some reason the free weights section lighting is very dimm off, close to dark... Additionally, the new machines lack the exercise tracking technology that the previous machines had, which feels like a step back in terms of technology and functionality. Furthermore, it's disappointing that it's no possible to purchase a gym membership without including access to the swimming facilities. All that resulted in increased prices, with the monthly Gym and Swim membership now costing £56, up from around £38 three years ago. It's also frustrating that there are no options for shorter memberships, such as 3 or 6 months. Overall, while the facilities and equipment are great, the decline in service quality due to overcrowding has made me reconsider renewing my subscription and exploring other options.
Positive experience: Great leisure facilities only spoilt by the extra parking charges.
Positive experience: Although the facilities are impressive and the whole sporting centre is very modern (after spending millions you would hope so). Speaking as a student the prices are horrendous, especially if you compare it to other university facilities in the country (i.e. Bath). You cannot simply get a gym membership without the swimming included, which helps the centre bloat its prices up. The prices have gone up since I last came 2 years ago, the Gym and Swim monthly membership was around 40£ and now it has gone up to 50£. This and the lack of other options (3 months membership and 6 months membership are not available) are proof that they are trying to get every penny out of you. I would recommend for the facilities and equipment if you can afford it. It is a shame because many students who would like to do sports are unable due to high prices.
Fantastic experience: Just joined the gym having not been to a gym in a long time. The induction was great and Nicholas was brilliant in demonstrating how the equipment worked and providing some great training tips!
Fantastic experience: Lovely facilities, good parking, helpful staff. Clean and tidy.
Positive experience: Very impressive sports facilities for the students and wider public. Great pool, and we had an excellent breakfast at the in-house Costa. Amazed at the huge interest on the massive climbing walls. All ages fearlessly taking part!
Fantastic experience: It's superb with new equipments and staff
Negative experience: Too expensive for what it offers. A basic one-month membership for an external person is almost £80, it only includes the gym and swimmingpool, the classes (Pilates etc...) are extra and cost £9 each. Furthermore, entering is always tedious, as an external you always have to ask whoever is at the entrance for both access, to general facilities and the gym and it always bothers them, apparently they do not know this type of membership and they hesitate when you tell them you do not have a student ID or access card. It's annoying because many times you just want to go to relif stress and starting like that takes away your desire to return.
Negative experience: Only worth a visit if you’re a student/community member as they’re mugging people off with the parking. Me and two mates only went for a game of squash and we each had to pay £4 for parking - haha more than the cost of the court :S
Fantastic experience: New and modern looking sports hall with great sports facilities, including an impressive indoor climbing wall. The main hall has a nice spectator area upstairs, and there is a Café Nero with good provisions.
Fantastic experience: Modern, clean, with friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: I am using Gym and Swim. The place is clean and well maintained. Lots of facilities in swimming makes it perfect for me.
Negative experience: Excellent sports centre and gym. Only downside: the music in the gym. It's not the genre but the quality and volume. On some days it is unbearable, to the point that if I forget my headphones I can't go in. Generic, unimaginative, monotonous. There are people in the gym who actually appreciate music, and they all have their headphones cranked up. This is a university gym, I know you can do better because there are times when it's fine. Please give this some thought.
Fantastic experience: My son and friends had a climbing session with Henry.. could not recommend it enough or Henry!!
Fantastic experience: Great place take my son swimming lessons 1× a week really good facilities always clean
Fantastic experience: My fav gym at Coventry. Its spacious and the machine is great. Their swimming pool is also really great, they not use a warm water but still good. The cleanliness is top tier
Negative experience: Perpetually broken weight machines, overpriced membership (even for students), only 2 cable machines (2 bad hydraulic ones have been broken for about 8 months now, other 2 with actual weights are occupied all the time), 1 smith machine, doesn't even have some of the more basic free weight equipment such as a bicep curl. Not worth it. It has plenty of olympic racks though.
Negative experience: Customer services at this centre is very poor. Staff does ignore you and the reception staff try to hide behind the tall reception desk. I have already complained about one particular individual on reception but 2 weeks later I have had no response. Just goes to show how much they don’t care about delivering good customer service. You pay all those expensive membership fees and this is how they treat you! Very poor - retrain your stsff.
Fantastic experience: Attended here because our daughter was taking part in the dance competition being held in the main hall. Great parking, nice external gardens. Cafe Nero inside the venue has nice things to eat and drink but pricey
Fantastic experience: What a Sport club. Most of the activities are here and gymnastics. I was staying in the hotel and used the swimming pool, sona and steam bath. Had a great experience during the stay. Highly recommend
Fantastic experience: I went here for someone’s bday party on the football astros,it was confusing to find but that was because someone didn’t include the details
Negative experience: I am a member of the public not a student and visited the centre on 24/04. First impressions and interactions with staff were poor. No tour offered or guidance and told just to wonder around the centre. Emailed and no response. I would have joined but didn't feel valued as a visitor. I didn't feel the positive vibes at Warwick Sports Hub, not sure if this centre is good a choice for members of the public.
Fantastic experience: Great facility! Hannah from customer services couldn't do enough to help support. Thanks again guys for making it an amazing experience for our young people!
Negative experience: Awfully maintained facilities. Most of the changing rooms have doors and locks missing, only few lockers can be used, the drains are thick with grime, drying machines/ sauna/ steam room/AC are invariably out of action. I’ve raised this with staff several times over the months, but nothing has changed. The hub has it all but can’t get the basics right.
Fantastic experience: An absolutely stunning place. Almost anything and everything you might need is there. The climbing wall is breathtaking. All the facilities are spacious, bright and clean. Quite popular and in the evenings might be a bit crowdy
Hi Anton, we are really glad to hear that you find our climbing wall breathtaking and that the Sports and Wellness Hub is a stunning place. We hope to see you again soon, thank you. Warwick Sport.
Fantastic experience: I brought my mum to climbing on 4th Feb. She was bit nervous before she tried it first time, but she loves it by the end of the day. The staffs are so nice and helpful! Really appreciate the patience and help :)
Negative experience: The staff has no idea what is going on. Everyone gives different information. And they never pick up the phone.
Hi Thays, thank you for taking the time to give us some feedback, we are really sorry to hear about the issues with staff, we would like to discuss this further with you. Please contact [email protected]. Thank you, Warwick Sport.
Fantastic experience: Amazing climbing wall. Huge range of facilities and a good place to meet.
Fantastic experience: Love this gym. Staff always very helpful.
Negative experience: I echo the feedback and disapointment of many other members. Despite the feedback little has been done to improve the facilities.
Hi Christopher, thank you for taking the time to give us some feedback, we are sorry to hear about yours and other members disappointment. We are always trying to give the best experience for each one of our members. It would be great if we could discuss this with you in more detail, please email [email protected]. Thank you, Warwick Sport.
Negative experience: It’s a great sports club but let down by poor maintenance of the sauna and steam room . The 4 year old facilities , sauna has no drainage so you need flip flops and the steam room is broken and like now “out of order”. So if steam / sauna are a consideration in your club membership opting , maybe look at clubs with better working facilities . One is unhygienic as floor permanently covered in pool or water and the steam has a sign on the door , broken , again , like now 29th ? For 49 £ a month , both should be in better condition , from paul burke , club member
Hi Paul, thank you for leaving us feedback, we are very sorry to hear about the maintenance issues, particularly with the sauna and steam room. We would like to discuss this further with you, please email [email protected]. Thank you, Warwick Sport.
Positive experience: Good experience, the swimming staff were nice, reception staff could do with more customer service training and you need to make sure you're registered for free parking.
Positive experience: I've spent hundreds of hours in the uni gym which can hopefully testify to the fact it's a great place to be. It is relatively expensive but if you buy an annual gym and swim membership and make good use of it it's very reasonable. The community inside the gym is very nice as well and always a pleasure to train there. There's great energy and you can hype others up and luckily (unlike some gyms!) it's not treated as a library but an environment to push yourself. There's good barbell variety as well. The staff are sound too. The gym has way too many cardio machines and only one set of cables which is definitely a point to improve on.Toilet facilities are pretty average, can be quite unclean at times but does also get cleaned pretty regularly. Some pieces of equipment are broken but all of the major things are fine so it's not too big of an issue. Most equipment is well kept with only a few pieces being a little worn down. A few mates would have liked to have an assisted pull up machine to build up to pull ups and the gym could definitely do with a preacher curl stand. The hours are also a bit limited for anyone who wants to train in the night or early morning but for most people shouldn't be an issue. Overall a solid gym, and other aspects of the facilities I've used when it comes to Badminton and Squash are solid as well.
Hi P K, we are happy to hear how much you have enjoyed the Sports and Wellness Hub, especially the community inside the gym being nice. We hope to see you again soon, thank you, Warwick Sport.
Fantastic experience: Took our mixed team of novices to their first tournament, and we cleaned up in the trophy area! 3 gold, four silver and a bronze - they all came away with medals, some of them with two!
Fantastic experience: It was alright but a nightmare to park in a disabled parking place must stay in it all night
Hi Wendy, we are sorry to hear about the issues with disabled parking. We would love to discuss this more with you, please email [email protected]. Thank you, Warwick Sport.
Fantastic experience: Great venue to host the 2023 sikh dodgeball tournament. Very accommodating and plenty of space and facilities. Parking is expensive though. Played football here a few times outdoor pitches great surface and lighting.
Fantastic experience: Everything is top notch. 12 lane pool, huge climbing wall, gym, squash rooms. Can't really get much better can it?
Positive experience: Great gym, big with lots of equipment. Relatively expensive, often reception/payment is slow. The whole experience would probably be great if I had a membership but I like to try other places.
Negative experience: I’m not happy with their service I been calling tham and emailing them for nearly but no one ans I want to cancle my direct debit I went to the gym to cancle and they said they can’t cancke their I have to email
Fantastic experience: My son, Hiren has been taking swimming lessons here and we found Daniela passionate, engaging, fair and consistent. She has great interpersonal skills and keeps us up-to-date with the progress. We would like to thank Daniela for her time and effort to help Hiren achieve his true potential and for making a positive impact and difference. She is a perfect example of a swimming instructor/supervisor and a credit to the Sports and Wellness club!
Negative experience: Hard to say anything nice about this place: 1) Most lockers don’t have numbers anymore. Finding your locker is like a game of roulette. 2) Sauna doesn’t drain properly, and door doesn’t always shut completely. 3) You have to use your card to get into gym room (but what if you don’t have pockets?). 4) Pool and sauna close 1 hour before gym closes on weekdays. Annoying if you want to use sauna after workout. 5) Swimming lanes are often reserved for university club and classes, especially in evening (difficult for people who work during the day). 6) They just reduced pool/sauna hours on weekend (from 8pm to 7pm) – makes it even more difficult for people who work during the day. 7) Showers don’t drain properly, lots of standing water from everyone who showered before. Gross. 8) Locker rooms on ground floor are always hot and stuffy. No ventilation. 9) Men’s urinals on 1st floor stink to high heaven. 10) Men's showers on the 1st floor have much faster timer than on the ground floor. The 1st floor showers also randomly change from hot to cold. 11) The cleaning person poured bleach inside my shower cubicle while I was showering barefoot. 12) They recently increased prices even though the facilities and pool hours have gotten worse.
Hi Joe, we are very sorry to hear about the issues with the Sports and Wellness Hub, we would love to discuss this further with you, please could you email [email protected]. Thank you, Warwick Sport.
Positive experience: I’ve been using the climbing area for 3 years now and it’s a great place to be. However today I booked to go bouldering and it said 70 places free. Clearly people from the session before run over so I figured it would be a bit busier but not that busy so I went and started climbing. 20 minutes into my session I was told by a student of the climbing club that half of the bouldering wall was now off limits, which was confirmed by a staff member. The reason for this was the club’s taster session. As a former student I have no problem with a taster session closing part of wall as they are beneficial, however at no point during my booking was this communicated to me. I was told that it had been posted on social media, but I don’t follow the sports hub and frankly shouldn’t have to for messages that relate to facilities. As a paying customer it is disappointing to not be informed of this when I book on the website. I am happy to schedule my climbing around taster sessions or any other closures, however I need to know when this is happening in order to do so.
Fantastic experience: A high quality sports venue. We visit twice a week and there is always a nice atmosphere. It is kept very clean and fairly well maintained (a bit slow to repair things sometimes). The 'build quality' is very good for all facilities and membership prices are very reasonable.
Hi Kit, we are glad to hear that you enjoy your visits to the Sports and Wellness Hub, we hope to see you again soon. Thank you, Warwick Sport.
Positive experience: The person working at the reception desk at 08:15 on September 17th, 2023 should receive retraining in speaking to clients. A problem with the barrier swipe card led to a conversation between the receptionist and the clients. However, at no point shall the clients be ridiculed as "rude" and "disgusting" coming out of her mouth let alone apologetic for the system's fault. This was not the expected standard of conduct for an institution of this type.
Hi Poco Poco, We are very sorry to hear about the way that you were spoke to, this is not what we expect from our staff and we cannot apologise enough. We would like to discuss this with you further so please email: [email protected] and we will get back to you soon. Thank you, Warwick Sport.
Fantastic experience: Great place for fitness and other sports activities. I take my kids for swimming classes . Although it's Warwick Uni's fitness centre, it's open to the community. Check out their website for what they offer
Fantastic experience: I was staying for three nights at the university at a conference and had free use of the university gym and pool. Fantastic gym and very friendly staff at reception. Thank you Warwick!
Positive experience: Lovely clean facility with impeccable sports facilities and a lovely pool that has accessible. Staff are lovely and on hand at any point to support you. However the membership is expensive being £49 per month.
Hi Chloe, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed the facilities and found them accessible, as well as the staff being lovely. We hope to see you again soon, thank you, Warwick Sport.
Fantastic experience: Stunning building with amazing facilities. Having the climbing wall by the entrance is awesome to see. Well laid out and modern equipment available and staff are very knowledgeable. Cryfield village car park is directly opposite and costs £1 to park for a whole day.
Hi Jess, we are glad to hear that you liked the climbing wall, we hope to see you again soon. Thank you, Warwick Sport.
Positive experience: Lots of variety. If staying at accomdation you can go free. The sauna was great. The main pool only has a deep end sadly. But there are places to put feet. Some areas in the changing room smelt a bit whiffy but otherwise great. Staff very patient and helpful
Hi Emma, we are very sorry about he issues with the smell in the changing room but are glad to hear you liked the sauna and that the staff were patient and helpful. Thank you, Warwick Sport.
Positive experience: Recently left after pricing became too expensive. Having been at the gym since the end of lockdown, I've not seen one new piece of equipment added and often felt that as a community member, students came first (despite paying less). Also found it very frustrating when the facilities were being accessed by outside bodies (Recently had a number of people in the gym for refereeing courses) as it left less room for recurring members to access equipment. The gym itself is fine but pricing for what it is doesn't really match up.
Hi Fraser, thank you for taking the time to give us feedback, we are sorry to hear about your issues with the pricing of the Sports and Wellness Hub. We would like to discuss this further with you, please contact [email protected]. Thank you, Warwick Sport.
Positive experience: Bit expensive, membership doesn't including climbing and free parking is only two hours for members. Other than that, it is world class facility.
Negative experience: Going downhill.....prices rising when ladies upstair showers are always cold & bugs crawling around in the showers!? Also classes are being cancelled more frequently at short notice, time to leave I think!
Hi Nicola, thank you for taking the time to give us some feedback, we are sorry to here about the issues with the upstairs showers, the bugs crawling around and the classes being cancelled. We would like to discuss this further with you so please email [email protected] and we will get back to you soon. Thank you, Warwick Sport.
Fantastic experience: An interesting place for kids and adults plus the atmosphere is very clean and the staff is very cooperative.
Negative experience: The swimming pool should be bigger, it’s such a massive plot of land so they could have designed 2 swimming pools of equal sizes they always have classes in the big pool and the rest of the swimmers have to be bunched into the small pool all the time
Hi 2frey84, thank you for taking the time to give us feedback, we are sorry to hear about the issue regarding the size of the pools and people being crowded in the small pool. We would like to discuss this further with you so please email [email protected] and we will get back to you soon. Thank you, Warwick Sport.
Fantastic experience: I love the Sports & Wellness Hub and visit most days. I use both the studios (for Les Mills and in-person classes) and the gym for my own training. The booking system is easy and the facilities are always clean and tidy. I go to the gym fairly close to opening time and the wait times for equipment are never too long as the gym is very well equipped. There are also always staff on hand to help, who are super friendly and approachable. I've also used the sports hall for badminton as part of Warwick Badminton, the climbing wall for a taster and the swimming pool which are all great facilities. The Caffe Nero on the ground floor is also a lovely addition and a nice study space with plug sockets and WiFi (for students at least). Thank you Sports and Wellness Hub Team for maintaining such a great facility!
Hi Bethany, we are really glad to hear that you enjoy our Sports and Wellness Hub facilities, we appreciate the time you have taken to give us this positive feedback and we are looking forward to seeing you again soon. Thank you, Warwick Sport.
Fantastic experience: Watched my daughter and partner climb there. Qn outstanding facility fir the community. Warwick University clearly serves a diverse community.
Hi Ken, we are glad to hear that you found our facility outstanding, and had a good time watching your daughter and partner climb there, we hope to see you again soon. Thank you, Warwick Sport.
Negative experience: Haven't received a membership card since joining almost 3 months ago. I went into chase it up and apparently there had been a "blip" on my account(?). According to the person behind the desk, whoever set up my account indicated I would be paying every month in cash(is that even a thing these days?). So not only have I been without a membership card or access to the gym, but now I owe them over £80?! I think not! There was also no record of the "free month" I was supposed to get when signing up. Ludicrous. I will be going in , in person today to cancel whatever membership they think I have with them and finding a gym that employs competent administrative staff.
Positive experience: I rated it as ok! Mainly because the sports flooring was terrible, the basketball rims were bent, plus there was a lot of dead spots all over the place. I personally wouldn't have paid to use these facilities!
Dear Joe, thank you for taking the time to give us some feedback, we are sorry to here about the issue with the flooring, basketball rims and the dead spots. We would like to discuss this more with you so please email [email protected] and we will get back to you soon. Thank you, Warwick Sport.
Fantastic experience: Great place - friendly staff. The guy who did our induction was very patient and we were able to climb for as long as we wanted. There are auto belays as well as normal belay walls and a great bouldering area. Cafe Nero upstairs for coffee and refreshments.
Hi Tim, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed the sports hub, especially the climbing wall, we hope to see you again soon. Thank you, Warwick Sport.
Negative experience: AVOID!!!! The gym is in a state of disrepair, with broken equipment and missing parts on several machines, including the pneumatic cable machines and pec machine which have been out of order for months. The gym is constantly overcrowded, making it difficult to work out safely, and I even sustained an injury when a weight fell on my foot due to the lack of space. Additionally, the locker rooms are consistently dirty, with showers and urinals that are always dirty, and many lockers are broken. The cleaner is rude and unhelpful, and even kicked me out of the locker room when I sat down just for a minute to message my friend, claiming to be cleaning despite the fact that there were plenty of other people present causing him no issue. Overall, the gym is not being properly maintained, and the administration needs to take action to address these issues. P.S. The images depict only a few of the issues that I ve mentioned above. I would have gone out of phone storage if I had captured everything.
Positive experience: We mostly go climbing here from time time. Would like to see the ropes routes changed more often on the autobelays but overall pretty fun!
Hi ArtofRaj, we are glad to hear that you find our facilities fun, we will look into your suggestion about changing the routes more often on the autobelays, we hope to see you again soon. Thank you, Warwick Sport
Fantastic experience: It's am amazing place with so many sports, indoor swimming pool, badminton court, tennis court, boxes, Nero cafe, squash court, mountain climbing and gym.
Hi Sidharth, lovely to hear you had such a nice time here we hope to see you again soon. Many thanks, Warwick Sport
Fantastic experience: Great staff, clean changing rooms, great swimming pool
Hi Mo, so happy to hear you had such a good time, hope to see you again. Many thanks, Warwick Sport.
Positive experience: Hello, Something urgent needs to be done to monitor staff during swimming lessons in terms of the progression that children are making. Some of the kids have been stuck on certain levels for a long time and it appears that there is no real monitoring of skills. The staff seem to be complacent and careless. Failing to notice when kids have reached the skills to move up is financially draining and incredibly time wasting. I look forward to your reply.
We are sorry to hear that you have not had a good experience. Our Learn to Swim team would like to know more details to ensure your child continues to progress through their aquatic journey with us. Please let us know if you are happy for us to contact you, or alternatively please email the Learn to Swim team directly via [email protected].
Positive experience: Good gym and facilities - fee ok. However, members are not permitted to use empty studios for eg calisthenics, yoga, hiit etc (unless they wish to pay upwards of £40 per hour to rent the whole studio). This means gym gets overcrowded quickly, despite the centre being absolutely huge.
Fantastic experience: Big shout out to Arjun for training us on the Lifting for Beginners Course completed today after 4 sessions. Thank you Arjun !! Very professional and helpful throughout the course and always available to help. Would recommend the course and Arjun Regards Andy
Positive experience: A fairly affordable sports centre for Warwick students. Gym is large with lots of power cages and ‘smart’ machines but equipment is all techno gym and some machines are straight up useless. Also a ridiculous amount of unused running machines which take up valuable floor space. Swimming pool is never that busy and sauna and steam room is relaxing but the latter is often out of order. Rock climbing and courts are available for booking in the inclusive membership. Buying a year pass is much more affordable than getting it monthly
Fantastic experience: What a fabulous sports centre at Warwick University, pay as you go or memberships. Huge gym with machines I have never seen before. Climbing and bouldering walls. Large swimming pool for real swimming, clean and friendly staff. Classes too.
Fantastic experience: Awesome facilities but pricey
Fantastic experience: A great climbing centre, lots of routes for all skill levels. Quite a large bouldering wall with lots of problems that would probably take a good few weeks to complete. Staff were very friendly and thorough in their induction process without making it too pressured.
Negative experience: Great place to work out ! BUT Only 1 year memberships available even for climbing only which changed from when I was able to get a 3/6 month membership for climbing. with the cost of living crisis it seems ridiculous that there is no option of paying a monthly membership fee, or 3/6 month membership and instead I’d have to pay up to £220 at once and that’s the student fee. Seems unrealistic.
Negative experience: Went for the bouldering, really low walls with inconsistent grading. Felt geared towards children. No campus board, moon board, or peg board. Two fingerboards placed on top of each other so can only be used by one person at a time. Not upto the standard of the ballroom in cov. Was so disappointed I requested a refund, I was told the manager would be in touch but I haven't heard anything nearly a week later. Only 2 star for friendly and helpful staff
Negative experience: I had a super weird experience trying to climb there. I didn’t pass their safety check for reasons I don’t understand since I have training from acknowledged institutions and use my belaying device exactly as recommended by the manufacturer. That would have been acceptable if they just refunded my entrance and registration fee. However, they decided not to do that. As a cherry on the cake, they didn’t delete my personal data even though asked to do so twice and keep sending me marketing e-Mails.
Fantastic experience: Rock climbing and bouldering is very good, staff are knowledgeable and very friendly. Rental of equipment is good value and parking is across the road, great facilities.
Positive experience: Good gym at an affordable price (for now). Huge amount of cardio machines and you'll always find space to do something. However the free weights, especially barbell spaces and racks, can get full during term time. Quite a good selection of weight machines too. Pool is good sized, but again can get busy. Clean showers/toilet areas. During last couple of years the gym has been very active in raising prices. Overall it's a 5/5 gym, but its a bit too crowded for the size. If you get in first thing in the morning, random lunch hour or just before closing you'll find space. Also plenty of parking available if one needs to drive and a covered bike locking area.
Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities here for disabled people to enter the swimming pool. Lots of help to from the staff.
Fantastic experience: Well equipped gym and verity of different sports to choose. INCLUDING WALL CLAIMING!! Staff very friendly and happy to help.
Positive experience: Can get crowded with students during term times. Steam room has been out of use for many months. When operational it doesn't feel to give sufficient steam (at least compared to the one at the excel leisure centre) I think the organisation of the swimming pool could benefit from a reorganization. It's hard to have enough space when swimming. The swimming pool can be sporadically hired out, you can arrive to find you are unable to swim. Sometimes large adolescent friendship groups come to use the facilities more for 'leisure purposes'. It seems members are typically limited to around half the available pool. The changing rooms can smell a bit unhygienic. The drainage doesn't seem sufficient. Large puddles in changing room and sauna. When coupled with the recent price hike, I'm contemplating moving to an alternative gym. Sufficient parking. Modern equipment, albeit slow to make repairs. Mostly 2 of each machine. Disabled access (I think) I hope this can help
Fantastic experience: Kids have swimming lessons and climbing lessons every Sunday. It's always clean tidy and always has friendly staff. Nero coffee shop just inside-it is card only which did catch us out originally.
Hi Dave, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed our facilities, we hope to see you again soon. Thank you, Warwick Sport.
Fantastic experience: Massive, multisports centre with amazing facilities. Easy parking, short walk from uni campus.
Fantastic experience: Update: We have been multiple times now and are enjoying an incredibly fun and thorough workout aswell as bonding and stress releasing. I have found the car parks to be frustrating and difficult to get my head around but i learnt that you can pay at the desk when you're done which is really helpful. There are also lockers there for your valuables. There can be quite long and slow moving ques at the main reception so i will be and would advise booking in advance to climb. The climbing staff all seem to be helpful, friendly and approachable but best of all they are hot on safety. It's brilliant to see a whole team who are so responsive, it makes be much more confident to take my child. The walls are fantastic, they change them often enough and it adds to the fun when there are new challenges. I have also found the bouldering wall a lot of fun too which i hadn't been very interested in before. I've found it a nice way to wind down after the climbing walls. I have had some issues with my registration and subsequent issues booking in but i think that is sorted now and I've been with other people who have never had this problem. Went for climbing, had a great time. All the staff were really helpful. We needed to register for the first time online and booked in there at the main reception. The price which is £7(off peak)-£10 per session and. We had an induction (£6) and regular check ins. You can hire shoes and a harness for an extra £6 or the harness alone for £4.50, just mentioning as it all adds up and it's not clearly stated on the website. The climbing staff were friendly, attentive and professional. The walls are amazing fun, of all different difficulties and at least 8 auto belays that i can remember. I will definitely be going back to enjoy and hopefully improve on my climbing. There is also a large bouldering wall but i didn't get round to having a go but the floor was very good quality, everything was to be fair and clean. An impressive place with lots more to offer. I look forward to returning.
Hi Unapologetic Me, we are really glad to hear that you enjoyed the Sports and Wellness Hub climbing wall and that the staff were very helpful. It's great to hear that you will be returning too! Thank you, Warwick Sport.
Positive experience: I recently joined the Warwick Wellness Hub on the Gym & Swim package. I use the exercising gym daily and sauna/steam a few times per week. The gym is extremely busy with students from around 4pm through to 9.30pm. Switching from Puregym for the added benefit of sauna/steam/swim, I was very two minded whether this was worth frequently having to wait for machines and benches but I can confirm, it becomes bearable over time. Other gym users are very friendly and staff are helpful. The sauna/steam room facilities are fantastic however, beware there's a few issues which I'm suprised have not been addressed. The sauna appears to flood due to a lack of drainage and can become quite dirty with water/sweat puddling on the base. The sauna/steam/showers seem to be closed and shut off around an hour to an hour and a half earlier than closing time for cleaning. In all honestly, I think staff just want to finish early or walk out at exactly closing time as they're constantly pacing around the gym towards closing time, dimming the lights and repeatedly on the tannoy. Cleanliness is shocking, seriously. Hairs and dirt all over the showers and changing rooms. The gym itself gets vacuumed occasionally by staff with their useless portable backpack vacuums which literally pick up nada! Although my review is majority negative, you slowly adapt to the setting and hope for change. I can't fault the exercising equipment as there really is a vast range of modern apparatus.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic facilities. It sets the standards for sports centres. Very helpful staff too.
Positive experience: Now my regular gym/swim place. Staff are nice/friendly. Has plenty of equipment from machines to free weights to multiple lifting racks. Has a BIG functional rig. Could do with a better area for stretching/warm downs. Best to avoid evenings/weekends during term as it is humming with students. Upstairs locker room needs bigger lockers and better showers. Climbing walls, squash courts and other facilities make this the best equipped centre in the area. Downside is that during graduation season, car park is pretty much shut/rammed with families who can't read signs on where to park. Also - with Kenilworth Lido now shut, the pool seems to have picked up quite a few new customers which makes all sessions very busy. On site Nero is a bonus
Negative experience: My new review deals with the pool timetable: It has gone to pot! so it is impossible to avoid a very reduced pool space. Not only do the schools, 1-2-1 lessons and first aid courses rock up whenever they feel like it, when this happens, the fast lane is dropped completely. This disorganisation is no good for anyone - mixing fast swimmers in with slower ones is crazy. When there are at least 3 spare lanes - designate one for each (fast, medium, slow). Also, please ask lifeguards to sort the lanes out so that people are swimming in their correct lanes. In addition, the whole place - especially the pool, poolside, changing rooms and showers - are really dirty. The pool showers are constantly blocked and overflowing, outside shoes are allowed in the studios and the mirrors haven't been cleaned for months.
Hi Rosie, we are sorry to hear about the issues with the cleanliness and the overflowing showers, we will look into this, we appreciate you taking the time out to contact us. We would like to discuss this further with you, could you please contact [email protected] and we will get back to you swiftly. Thank you, Warwick Sports.
Positive experience: Has a 25m swimming pool, gym, squash courts, multi-purpose hall, and climbing walls.
Fantastic experience: This facility is absolutely amazing, it has ranges of activities to get involved in, football, indoor climbing, squash, etc. The facility also has free parking, can’t go wrong at all.
Negative experience: Bad conflict management and very unprofessional treatment. The Swimming Timetable for the week of 15th to 20th February 2022 published on the Warwick Sport website showed 4 lanes for free swimming (lane no. 5, 6, 11 and 12) for Tuesday 15th of February from 18.30 to 20.15. We went today the 15th at around 18.30 to the swimming pool and entered lane 5 and started swimming. The swimming club teacher came to us and said that we needed to get out because this was a lane for the swimming club. We told him that it wasn’t as per the timetable and said he should speak to the manager. He told his students to start swimming in that lane just to kick us out. The manager then came and asked us to move to other lanes (9 and 10) that were supposed to be occupied by the swim club according to the timetable. These lanes 9 and 10 are narrower than lanes 5 and 6, which make it very difficult to swim especially if there are several people in it (which was the case). Additionally, lanes 11 and 12 were converted into one large lane for very slow swimming with people occupying both lanes. The manager tried to convince us that there were 4 lanes available and that we should move to the other lanes. Because the swimming conditions showed on the timetable were not being respected, not even by the manager, we exited the pool and left. On the exit of the gym the manager admitted the timetable was wrong, that it would be corrected and understood that was a frustrating situation for us. But by then we were already dressed up and ready to leave. I think the situation was very poorly managed, the gym did not comply with its own rules and the manager’s attitude was irresponsible and amateurish.
Thank you Catarina for your feedback. We are always looking for ways how to improve and will use your feedback to review our swimming timetables and use of the swimming lanes.
Positive experience: A bit slow booking in but great for climbing for Hinckley Mountaineering Club
