As part of our commitment to make improvements to some of our fitness facilities in the county, we have confirmed that we're investing in facilities at Springfield Campus. The plans for the fitness suite include:
In line with our aspiration to become carbon neutral by 2030, Wiltshire Council has been undertaking a programme of works across many of its buildings to reduce the energy used in those buildings. These works will also reduce carbon emissions and help to lower energy bills. You can read more about the whole programme in our recent press release.
The council was awarded a grant from the government's Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme that has funded the installation of a new low carbon heating system at Springfield Community Campus and provided solar panels to produce renewable electricity.
These works mean the centre is no longer relying on fossil fuels for heating and with the Green electricity tariff that the council has procured, the centre will be reporting zero carbon emissions.

Springfield Community Campus: Opinions
Fantastic experience: A easy to use sports centre, very organised and people always ready to help. A nice experience.
Fantastic experience: good parking the gym and swimming pool are nice and tidy
Positive experience: Good baby classes with the library. Large spaces also available for hire
Fantastic experience: My daughter does climbing here and is mentored by a very good coach.
Positive experience: Great venue for the celebrate South Africa market
Fantastic experience: We hired the Methuen Room at Springfield campus for my daughter's party and it was brilliant! Heidi and the team had the room ready for half an hour for my daughter's party. Despite the centre being really busy we had loads of tables and chairs and lots of people checking in to make sure we had everything we need. Thank you so much and would recommend hiring them for a party.
Fantastic experience: Awesome place
Fantastic experience: Best community service around. Lovely leisure centre, cafe, library, park and free parking for 3 hours.
Fantastic experience: Lovely venue for a monthly craft fair
Fantastic experience: When here for a creative market and it was absolutely fantastic. Very well sign posted inside. The whole place looked clean and tidy. Staff were friendly.
Fantastic experience: Nice modern facility.
Positive experience: Reception were OK, they kept on complaining about to book online on the website though, secondly me and my daughter were changing as we went swimming there and the one of the life guards were in the changing room as if it was normal for them to be in there and just said "Springfield is closed." And went off somewhere as there was another mother and daughter next to us, we were all saying "We're just changing in a changing room lady what do you think we are doing?"
Positive experience: Excellent Aqua Physio sessions available. Very pleasant and caring staff members.
Fantastic experience: What a great facility, credit to the town.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic local facility. We often use the play park, field, etc but this time tried the library. Very quiet clean and well stocked. A credit to Corsham!
Negative experience: Springfield Community Campus is happy to take on new children to it's swimming classes, but with our adequate cover. We were first regularly cancelled before they closed the class my son was on, and when he was moved to a different day after just two classes, there was another cancellation due to no teachers. A complete joke, and complete disregard that people are not just sat at home waiting for something to do, but do actually need to plan for attendance. It's just a shame they don't offer the same courtesy.
Fantastic experience: Great park
Positive experience: Looking for somewhere to take our 3yr old granddaughter. Tried to find out softplay times / prides on line to no avail. On calling the centre the staff could not have bean more pleasant and helpful. This was also the case when we got there. The soft play was for very young children and all fell into that category so no over biostrous play which was great for us. We then visited the library, children section is well laid out, safe and really clean. While at the library there was a story reading/sing along which was great. In all a really nice experience. We were hoping to start her swimming but unfortunately Wednesdays are lane only sessions which is a pity.
Fantastic experience: Excellent days bowlin
Negative experience: Son tried to take children swimming this week as he usually does. Only to be told that he has to book slots. Gone onto their website only to be sent round and round the website. What's happened to good customer service
Fantastic experience: My third home after olympiad
Positive experience: Kids loved it less for adults unless there's an event happening
Fantastic experience: Has everything you need!
Fantastic experience: Not long started going here but friendly and helpful staff with up to date facilities
Fantastic experience: Our second time going to the Inclusive play session run by some great people!
Fantastic experience: Great site, everything there
Positive experience: Cool
Positive experience: Fajne miejsce
Positive experience: A really good place for swimmers & rock climbing as well as library & holding events. The only negative is the cafe which is now closed.
Fantastic experience: What a fantastic centre! Friendly staff, great facilities
Positive experience: Gym equipment is old, rusty and a lot of the weights area have electric machines which no longer turn on. Machines area is all very basic. There is ample running and cycling equipment but only a small amount of room where there are weights and cable machines. The result of this is that only one or two running machines are in use and that room is mainly empty, while the weights room is always full and you have to wait to be able to use anything. The pool is decent and operates absolutely fine. The system for doing laps in each lane works nicely but I can't help but feel that there doesn't need to be as many lanes as there are. Vending machines are too expensive. Toilets are often closed for cleaning but have nobody in them. Staff are usually friendly and there is a self check in machine at the entrance for gym use. Sauna and wellness rooms have been closed which is unfortunate. Car park facility is absolutely fine as there is a massive overflow at the back of the building. You will always find a space somewhere around.
Fantastic experience: Has everything you can ever want from a community centre and more with such facilities like the library, the swimming pool and even climbing walls. Events really emphasise the community, with example being their monthly Crafts fares, always bringing in great makers.
Fantastic experience: Second visit to the campus for monthly creative market, worth a trip. Rest of the facilities look great, espiecially climbing wall, but not tried yet
Positive experience: Stopped by to use the cafe. It was closed, but the self service machine was on. Well that was a mistake, I think it was one of the worst cups of coffee I have ever had, more like a cup of milk.
Negative experience: wasn’t aloud in when it was clearly open cus we were wearing work clothes
Fantastic experience: Remarkably multi faceted
Positive experience: Everything in one place, great spaces to hire. Great range of activities. Unfortunately there is no cafe.
Positive experience: Spacious, extremely clean, everywhere. Pool is excellent and I would recommend
Fantastic experience: Great day out short mat with a visiting County
Positive experience: So great I went swimming 20 mins ago there! Great pool and climbing facilities
Negative experience: Checked online for availability to swimmer two nights before and the night before 25th August and all was OK to swim. On arrival I paid and was allowed to enter the swimming area but after I got charged and put my stuff in a locker to enter the pool I was told to leave as the pool was closed and booked for a swimming club. I was given a refund but on reception I was then told I could go back as there was a miscommunication between staff. This is quite embarrassing to me and the staff as they clearly don't know what they are saying or doing pretty poor really
Positive experience: Lovely sports complex
Fantastic experience: Great pool and gym. Has various activities, sports and clubs being run on site. They also have a Youth club that use one of the rooms on Fridays for 11-18 year olds. You can also enquire to have a child's party there. There is also a library and cafe on site
Fantastic experience: I only used this facility for my blood donating session and the place looked very well sorted, it's a fantastic sports venue for Corsham
Negative experience: Every time I go there staff is very rude and they also close early and cancel a lot.
Fantastic experience: Great community hub! Thank you so much Wiltshire Council. Top job
Positive experience: Nice staff clean well organised something for everyone
Fantastic experience: This is mostly focused on the gym but there’s so much there and that’s a really great thing. The library is wicked and has so lush spaces to chill and read with the kids. I’d love it if the pool had amazing slides but that’s maybe a bit much to expect. We have a pool and that’s great :) The gym is amazing. It’s massive and has lots of kit. I’m sure it’s not new enough kit for some but it has everything I want and more. Never crazy busy and my intro with Toby was mega. We’re pretty luck to have Springfield.
Positive experience: Visited Springfield to participate in the Corsham Walking Festival.
Fantastic experience: Excellent venue.
Negative experience: No chance of actually getting to use these facilities, online booking will not work on any device, just hangs on sending a code and no one has ever answered the phone. When you do go in it's always booked out for what you want and blank stares as to how to solve this issue, same for Bradford on Avon pool. It's incomprehensible how Wiltshire council can have such a totally unfit for purpose website for their leisure facilities.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic location with cheap prices and a great sauna.
Positive experience: Pool changing rooms appear to be cleaned once a day - at the end of the day. If you swim after 4pm expect muddy changing rooms throughout. Shower heads are worse than a thumb over a hosepipe. Water is sprayed everywhere. Would be more efficient to shower with a cup of water and a sink. Having said that the building is reasonably new and modern and the pool is decent. Can get extremely busy so be prepared. 3/5.
Negative experience: Great facilities just don't expect to actually be able to use them. Appreciating that I'm not from around these parts, and it was the week before Christmas, I called ahead to ask what might be needed to take my 5 month old swimming. A swim nappy and neoprene over nappy are required, family swim sessions would suit best. Anything else I need to know? Nothing else is mentioned. Perfect, all sorted then. I duly wrestle the Kraken into the car that afternoon and manage to get down there at the allotted time, no mean feat in and of itself, only to be told that the pool is closed. No lifeguards. No apology offered. I enquired why I wasn't told this when I called a few hours earlier? They'd only *just* decided to close the pool. Frustrating but understandable - Omicron and all that. Headed down there again today to swim, cue similar wrangling of the small child into the car (remembered a towel this time though, winning). Arrive to be told that the session is fully booked and as it's lane swimming only after that we can't use the pool then. Fully booked I say? Since when does one have to book? You've always had to book, I'm told, and booking opens two days in advance so it's been full for some time... For the love of all things holy why was I not told this when I first phoned, given that's precisely why I did so? Or when I came down the first time? Why was there not an offer to check the availability of sessions that afternoon or the next day? For crying in a bucket - it's Christmas. There are highly likely to be people, like myself, from out of town who don't know 'what's usually done' and are up the eyeballs with screaming small people in a house not of their own!
Fantastic experience: Nice community centre, usually clean and the staff are helpful/friendly. Like the library aspect as not so many around. Plenty of parking too
Fantastic experience: Great facilities
Positive experience: Library user. Such friendly helpful & capable staff, who work so well as a team. Good range of reading material. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Thankyou
Fantastic experience: Very good so many things you can do there. I belong to the knit and crochet class were we make things for charity. Staff are always helpful . The only thing that is missing is the cafe. My friend and I go to the craft fair once a month and we always went in the cafe, it was always popular. Hopefully it will open again. Corsham is very lucky to have this centre.
Positive experience: I only used the car park.
Fantastic experience: Really fun
Fantastic experience: Much better than BETTER BATH!!
Positive experience: Great to have a local community sports facility, however no investment and maintenance to match Corsham's continued housing growth. Where is the Community Infrastructure Levy being spent? Swimming pool is a good size at 25m but too shallow and unfortunately a tired and grubby facility. Watched staff brush dirty water into the pool. Toilet cubicle (and dirty toilet brush) in the middle of the changing room. Covid gave loads of businesses the opportunity to maintain their premises, nothing appears to have been improved here, no fresh paint, not even a deep clean.
Positive experience: Very good aquafit class. My grandchildren enjoyed the climbing wall
Fantastic experience: Well appointed community facility for a town the size of Corsham which includes a swimming pool, gym, library, police station (though the café is closed with no signs of reopening with the current situation of covid) Used the 4 lane swimming pool with booked sessions for swimming and not being a local or a member I could only book up to 48 hours in advance and with the covid situation - have to book and pay in advance no chance of turning up - go beach ready, undress on sides by numbers, and no showers and use the changing rooms afterwards. Reception staff polite, clean and lifeguards polite BUT at a one off cost of £5.70 for a swim it is a bit expensive Otherwise a good facility and plenty of parking if you need it and fairly central to Corsham about 5 minutes from the shopping centre
Positive experience: Very nice park
Fantastic experience: Great facilities on our doorstep. Lucky to have!
Positive experience: Very clean and a lovely place to go to classes
Fantastic experience: Awesome centre for library and sport gym is nice but small
Positive experience: Nice range of activity
Positive experience: Good pool although swim lanes are quite narrow
Positive experience: Great place
Positive experience: Good parking, only use it for squash, courts are ok, but starting to look tired.
Fantastic experience: Great climbing wall.
Positive experience: Nice place for a swim, MUCH better than Olympiad in Chippenham. Generally clean and well maintained (for a public Centre). Showers could do with a good clean and upgrade of shower heads though... Water is partly salt treated (instead of chlorine only) which gets my vote every time!
Fantastic experience: Great staff, really friendly and helpful
Fantastic experience: Swimming, library, climbing wall, cafe, toddler groups, fitness classes. A one stop shop for the community. Excellent facilities, clean, and well run
Fantastic experience: great astro pitches
Positive experience: Only visit for the library usual good service from Wiltshire libraries
