YMCA St Annes Swimming Pool And Gym: Opinions
Fantastic experience: First swim today at St Anne's, didn't notice any cleanliness problems as have been reported some time ago, everything was good. Lovely real barista coffee afterwards was a bonus! Free parking on the prom if you can find a space otherwise pay on the car park.
Fantastic experience: Good
Positive experience: Good size public swimming pool, decent staff. And facilities
Positive experience: Swimming Pool clean and instructors are good, the general tidiness of the waiting area's and changing rooms is below par. Grotty scum in the corners, ceiling tiles missing allowing pipes to drip on the tables were you put your food and drink. Somebody needs to get a grip!
Fantastic experience: I have been to this place twice now and I have been very impressed. The changing area for the pool is very clean and well signposted. The pool is really good and the temperature is just right.
Fantastic experience: Nice a warm in the changing rooms
Negative experience: I wish that somewhere in the blurb they had said that the changing rooms were mixed I wouldn't have even considered going. The pool was fine and the staff were lovely hence the 2 stars. There are cubicles but the doors on the cubicles and showers had gaps at the bottom and top. As the most cost effective way of exercising it is a shame that they making it uncomfortable for a large proportion of the population.
Positive experience: The gym could be better but there is enough to do a full workout...could do with a few more machines. A bonus is that this place is nearly always quiet during the day.
Negative experience: The manager thinks his someone important
Fantastic experience: Great cafe too.
Positive experience: Looks an organised set up. Nice place to enjoy a coffee because the coffee seller on the prom is awful.
Negative experience: I've tried booking swimming lessons here for my child, they take weeks to respond with days/times and then when I respond to book I get no response. Terrible communication and customer service.
Fantastic experience: Great food and service from the cafe staff. The toasties are amazing.
Positive experience: Friendly nice staff
Positive experience: Took our grandchildren swimming on Saturday and we all had a great time the staff members we met were all really nice (thanks guys)we went into the coffee shop after swimming and it was fantastic one of the best coffees I've ever had thank you to the 2girls that run it
Fantastic experience: The staff are lovely and very helpful. Unfortunately when I went it was swimming lessons but there is still quite abit room for swimming
Fantastic experience: Wonderful swimming pool
Positive experience: The leg press is not working for ages and no one seems to think on fixing it, annoying when the kids are in the swimming pool on Thursdays, as a member you are not allowed to change in to your gym clothes and use the locker, you have to go dressed from home to be able to go to the gym. Apart from that, the staff is nice.
Fantastic experience: Nice wee pool with lane swimming as well as general. Go earlier to miss all the young ones.
Positive experience: Changing rooms could have been a bit cleaner
Positive experience: Attended the aqua aerobics class which was excellent. Only criticism I would have is the changing cubicles need hooks on the walls or doors so your bags etc don't get wet.
Fantastic experience: Good gym. Fewer machines than some others but with a bench, cable machine and free weights it’s all I need really.
Positive experience: Nice facilities Lovely cafe
Positive experience: Nice and friendly staff. Cafe is excellent food. Shame the facilities are run down. Gym in poor state and swimming pool full of rust on outside. The walkway to the gym is falling apart. Needs tls and could be outstanding facilities if invested in
Positive experience: Economica, attenzione agli orari
Positive experience: Great size, great price, well attended. Make sure you look at the times for the swimming not the opening times.
Fantastic experience: Lovely coffee
Fantastic experience: Dropped in while out for a walk around St Anne's, Small cafe in reception served hot drinks and snacks while watching the swimmers in the adjacent pool
Fantastic experience: Great place to take grandchildren for swimming prices are OK even a little help with the parking fees
Negative experience: The pool staff are fantastic but under the new management, swimming times are altered or cancelled to fit school swimming sessions in with no prior notification to members. You turn up for a swim and you are told a school from Kirkham are in. As they have their own pool (be it waiting 11 months now to have the roof mended), it's becoming an inconvenience to many people.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant quiet gym and pool. Very clean
Positive experience: Went swimming at the pool for the first time in 30 years I'd say! I used to have lessons there as a child when it was the St Anne's baths! Not a lot has changed to be honest, still all the same features I remember however the baby pool has now been converted into a gym. The pool is 25 metres and is open to the public in some sessions. There are lanes of varying speeds to use also. Enjoyed my time here and took advantage of the lanes for swimming lengths. The only reason I took a star off is that there are a lot of times the pool isn't available doe to schools swimming etc. Other than that great place to swim!
Fantastic experience: Excellent great young team very helpful on my first day.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic.. went to st annes for a break with the granddaughter..took them here for swimming ages 7 and 3. Very well organised by the staff. Changing areas brilliant.will definitely be going back.
Positive experience: The Swimming pool was good
Positive experience: Nice pool for swimming lanes
Fantastic experience: My daughter and I called in at the weekend. We were greeted at the desk by one of the nicest customer service personnel that I have ever met. He was polite, speedy and when we asked how much armbands were he said we could borrow some instead of buying a set. The facilities are clean and well kept and the pool was fun to swim in with the child.
Fantastic experience: My Grandson had a fantastic time there swimming. The facilities were first class, the staff lovely and a great coffee and cake to finish off. Definitely on our list for when we return. Thanks to everyone.
Positive experience: I visited the pool which was clean and not overcrowded. The changing rooms are clean and there is plenty of room. Let down slightly by quite a few broken lockers. The showers are also very average.
Negative experience: Well it is what it is, the time table is not great for open swimming. The floors are lethality slippery. My grandson continuously slips on the tiled area, and honestly the technology to make the tiles non slip is decades old, but in true YMCA fashion too tight to spend any money on safety and hygiene. And yes I can say hygiene as anyone knows the one main cause of slippery tiles is human body fat. Meaning the floors are not cleaned properly. Not sure if there is anyone able to make management decisions in the YMCA.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic
Positive experience: Pros: good size pool, line deviders for different swimmer experience, changing rooms clean, good amenities near, i.e. cinema pub or can walk along the pier Cons: some lockers are out of order and need updating
Fantastic experience: Great pool. Clean, spacious and designated swim lanes.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant class participation I love teaching aqua twice per week Tuesday and Friday 12:30
Fantastic experience: Love it here.
Fantastic experience: Good place
Fantastic experience: Thay was very dog friendly we had a lovely cup of coffee here
Fantastic experience: Take my son here swimming, the staff are really patient and understanding, they have a cafe and disabled facilities, the parking is refunded upto £2.20 . Cinema is next door and it's within walking distance of St Anne's .
Fantastic experience: Great location... helpful staff...clean and tidy... cost effective membership
Fantastic experience: Nice little pool
Fantastic experience: Great facilities
Fantastic experience: Great facilities and really friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: Nice pool. Very well organised
Fantastic experience: Great facility, and good value
Fantastic experience: Excellent gym and pool although you have to be a member., However the music in the gym is not to loud which is a lovely change from other gyms. The staff are very welcoming and the facility is well managed and clean
Positive experience: Visited the gym. Well organised & clean.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely brilliant staff and facilities, I would recommend to everyone. Thanks to the instructors as well
Negative experience: Staff absolutely unprofessional asked me to change in a toilet an no shower £7 50 just too use the gym nobody’s in the place
Positive experience: Great venue with plenty of choice.
Positive experience: Good pool and excellent Social Distancing measures
Positive experience: Enjoyable but current COVID restrictions mean that it is not set up for children. As a heads up the pool is always rather cool.
Positive experience: The experience was difficult at this time, no social distancing or visible cleanliness between swimmers or staff, during or after each allocated session. Even though the young staff were polite and helpful there was no control or monitoring in place. I mentioned this at reception and they felt that they were at that maximum but know one seemed to care when I raised concern about there being too many in the pool at the same time. It was a shame having been a member for a long time as its put me off returning during the current pandemic.
Fantastic experience: Nice pool
Fantastic experience: Great system in place for swimming during COVID. Clean and not crowded
Positive experience: Swimming baths right on the seafront. Has a cafe in it.
Fantastic experience: Everything went well, my first time swimming for ages! In fact I wish that they would keep this system for ever. Nobody just chatting down the shallow end...in the way of swimmers. Really warm in the changing rooms, and I was able to have a shower after swimming.
Fantastic experience: Well equipped gym.
Fantastic experience: Great pool and gym, helpful and friendly staff
Fantastic experience: Always have a good swim
Fantastic experience: Very friendly, good facilities. Lovely little cafe
Fantastic experience: Great swim
Fantastic experience: You can have breakfast and snacks in a dog friendly place. Inside!!!
Fantastic experience: My place of relaxation
Positive experience: Me and my daughter love going there, I just wish the pool water was just a tiny bit warmer
Fantastic experience: I took my granddaughter and she loved it. They had a big inflatable which all the kids loved. I personally think they should have a person in the water to regulate and help the smaller children get on it. It was a free for all and some of the younger children found it very hard to get on. Other than that it was a very nice afternoon. The staff were helpful and friendly. There is a small cafe where you can sit and have a drink. You can buy goggles, swim shorts n costumes in the foyer. The lockers take a£1 coin. I would recommend it to everyone. Lovely.
Fantastic experience: Nice pool, nice staff, helping me get non fat
Fantastic experience: I am basing my 5* review on the following... It is now a £250 a year membership that includes all YMCA facilities in the Fylde area, it includes classes, gyms, sauna (inc steam room) and pools. The showers and changing rooms are a bit on the basic side (but not unpleasant), the customer service is excellent, the facilities themselves are very good. The value for money is ridiculously good (but to compare it to quite high end places with a £55-70 a month price tag wouldn't be fair). The pool itself is a fair to warm temperature, with plenty of classes and activities for kids, adults of all abilities - from the nervous, to the competitive and those who don't want to swim at all but do want to do other water based activities. Lane swimmers have 3 different lanes based on speed: so people who go at a more relaxed pace don't need to feel intimidated. The shallow end is very shallow, so people learning to swim can feel confident. And there are plenty of swimming lessons for youngsters. I can also say that in the time I've been going there is no attitude from the more able swimmers. An excellent place.
Positive experience: Took the kids swimming because the sandcastle was closed, only a 25m pool aimed at adults really. However there was a very large shark inflatable play gym at 3:15 for kids over 8yrs. Not as child friendly as sandcastle but good well kept facilities and swimming lessons available
Positive experience: Ok. Pool can be cool
Fantastic experience: My daughter is enrolled in a weekly swimmi g programme. The teaching is excellent and is really helping her development.
Fantastic experience: they do so much more than I realized a great organization
Fantastic experience: Great for food.
Positive experience: Ok but being forced to swim in a lane I got kicked hard by a man in next lane. Changing rooms cold and just not awfully nice.
Fantastic experience: Spot on !
Fantastic experience: Great pool. No music. Good location.
Fantastic experience: Good swimming area. Never too busy so plenty of lane time. Good aqua aerobics if interested. Staff are friendly and always quick to help. Have a nice cafe for a latte or preferred choice.
Positive experience: Coffee isn't good value for money in the cafe, coffee machine is ok though.
Fantastic experience: Good pool, nice changing facilities. My local pool is £1.20 cheaper but it is a council run pool. My only negative is due to cramp I didn't get to finish my full 60 lengths, cramped up at the start of the 60th length - never happened to me in a pool before, the lifeguard did at least give some helpful advice that helped get rid of the worst part of it. If I'm ever in the area again I shall return!
Fantastic experience: Not too busy and a great gym.
Positive experience: Gym is a bit small, not a huge range of strength equipment. More cardio machines than anything else. Okay for a workout, but not for 'bodybuilders'.
Fantastic experience: Nice pool
Negative experience: Changing room floor was disgusting, someone had tracked something through it all and had dried and not cleaned. No locks on changing cubicle doors apart from one, which had the ventilation blowing cold air straight through it. Pool nice enough. Apart from the roof dripping into it. Also too much chlorine as after my eyes were going crazy. Biggest loss of score was for the fact we were not informed that less than 30 mins into our swim that the majority of the pool would be occupied by a swim aerobic class for the elderly, limiting us to the deep end only. Very poor customer service
Negative experience: A disgrace when it comes to customer service. As long as they're getting their money, they couldn't care less about loyal customers. So much so that I cancelled my membership.
Fantastic experience: Love this gym. It’s the best and they really look after you in the swimming area. The life guards are so helpful and really good at making sure people are ok
Negative experience: Rip off.
Positive experience: Great
Fantastic experience: Great pool but water can be a bit cold xx
Fantastic experience: Good gym and swimming pool
Fantastic experience: My boy love this place
Positive experience: Ok
