Negative experience: Spennymoor Leisure centre please sort your booking system out for the pool, I tried ringing to check on pool opening times rang and rang no answer, on line booking not available so just turned up to be told pool full can't book only way is to just turn up. The receptionist so upset as she had to turn so many children away and too busy to answer phone, spoke to 2 other families that had the same experience needs sorting out

Negative experience: The man on the front desk of the leisure section was just rude and uninterested , had to drag the information out of him. asked a simple question and was speaking to me like i was an idiot. wanted to sign up for the gym and swimming membership but i’ve joined one gym instead.

Fantastic experience: Joined the library easily and will go swimming here again once the pool refurb is done.

Fantastic experience: Staff were very friendly, polite and came across as very knowledgeable. Even asked if I preferred a specific locker when giving me the key. Gym staff ate there if you need them and always say hello or good morning if they pass you.

Negative experience: Very disappointed however the transgender loo was very clean.

Fantastic experience: Just had my grandson swimming on his weekly session.I always find the staff more than helpful and are always polite.Paul the swimming instructor has a very calm and upstanding attitude to all the children he teaches.And his explanations and demonstrations of each element is perfect.

Negative experience: Unfortunately not a great experience. On the reception, I was told visitors get a minimum of 50 minutes as the 'timer' goes when the last band goes out for that session. I guess I must have been that last person as all I got was 40 minutes in the pool. Waves happened twice during the session, which was a bit of a let down as expected more often. Water was dirty, full of bits and cloudy. Showers are open to the whole pool area, so no privacy.

Negative experience: Appalling rudeness towards a elderly women yesterday reception staff should be ashamed never going there again for anything

Fantastic experience: The two members of staff at reception this morning (30th July) were fantastic. They offered excellent customer service and were so helpful. The kids really enjoyed the pool and slide. We'll definitely be back

Positive experience: Nice pool for smaller children

Fantastic experience: Took my grandson to his friends birthday party. Very well organised. Lovely bouncy castles for the 7 year old to play on.

Fantastic experience: The kids love the slide and wave machine. The times for kids swims are a bit too late finishing at 7.30. It’s an hour but you spend up to 20 mins getting in and changed as they won’t let you in to change ready for the 6.30 session. Staff are pleasant and pool is clean. Will go back again.

Fantastic experience: Very good for some fun swimming, I would visit other places if your looking for lane swimming etc. The wave machine is great fun and my daughter loved the waterslide. If you want to get in quick then you need to get there early, we got our ticket at 10am for the 11am start and by the time we went back to the leisure center there was a massive queue. when its busy expect a wait time of at least an hour. While we visited there was an incident with another swimmer, the pool staff were quick to get everyone out of the pool and help the person struggling to breath.

Negative experience: All the pool staff are so miserable. I understand its a boring job standing around doing absolutely nothing all day but a smile and a bit of positive customer interaction isn't hard. Some much needed training is required.

Fantastic experience: Had to transfer to Spenny due to our amazing instructor being incapacitated for just over a year. All the instructors are fantastic. Nigel - spinning is an amazing instructor. Extremely organised, motivational. He always has a different routine and music so the class just flies past. You never stop all way through till the end, non of these press ups rubbish to fill time in. Worth getting out of bed early and travelling from Bishop for. Alan - Tai Chi and now the most amazing Yoga class. Excellent teacher! As is Jenny. Love all these classes!!!!

Negative experience: Do not use hot drink machine in reception as it steals your money

Positive experience: The "pink gym" is fantastic for parties. The staff are well trained to engage with the kids and keep them entertained whilst the parents can sit and observe from the seats in the upper area. There's refreshment vending machines available that are reasonably priced (around £1 for a chocolate bar.

Negative experience: Never been in a swimming pool like it. The attendants treat virtually everyone like they can't swim. Don't do this don't that... It's not even a deep pool..Will never return to this swimming pool again.

Negative experience: Very unorganised with long waiting times for swimming 50 minutes.. Staff unhelpful, inefficient and poor standard of professionalism.. With today's technology this leisure centre still in the 70s..

Negative experience: So much inconvenience and the receptionist was ignorant and aragont honestly my family having to wait 1 hour for 1 singular session and I am sick of the unruly behaviour of the workers I hope next time you have a good system to keep people's places secure and guaranteed this has wasted precious time and I might as well go to a private pool to make sure that I have the best possible experience for swimming -nthanda aged 10 thank you for your time

Fantastic experience: Pink gym is fantastic for children. Lots of toys out for them to play with. Foam pits and inflatables. Never seems overcrowded. Great fun !

Fantastic experience: A brilliant place to relax. Gym, swimming, yoga, taichi etc.

Negative experience: The lifeguards judge because of size, they wouldn't let my children to swim to the bottom of the pool horrible! They need better lifeguards they are really lazy and look like they don't want to do any work. Never would go back. All they say is "If we think they can't swim they are not going to". If you are bringing your kids 10 or under they are not going to let your kids go to the deep end even though it is such a small pool . Wouldn't recommend and such a waste of money and time.

Positive experience: Really fun swimming baths for kids, my only reason for 3 stars is the changing facilities were cold, it wasn't an area you could comfortably wash after swimming etc. Amazing pool though with waves, slides, small splash area for tiny tots.

Negative experience: Pool has totally different opening times, and cueing system is rubbish

Fantastic experience: Pink gym is great all the staff are fantastic always smiling from the receptionist to the teachers and the equipment is always clean. The swimming pool is lovely for a family swim the weekends tend to be busier sometimes the pool is a little chilly but kids don't mind after they've been in for a few mins.

Positive experience: Went to splash and slides. Kids loved it. Pool is clean and well attended by life guards. Only critisism is Session only lasts an hour and tickets on sale only once that hour starts so you lose a few minites.

Fantastic experience: I've visited a couple of times within the last month and I've been impressed with how clean and spacious the place is. I haven't used the pool or changing rooms, but the areas down towards the Pink Gym and Alpine Room have been great.

Positive experience: Went to pink gym with a 2yr old and had a great time. Cafe upstairs clean with reasonable prices. Free Car parking.

Positive experience: Watching grandson having his swimming lesson.very quiet not the biggest of pools .but I suppose adequate, not on par with bishop auckland pool but suppose bishop has more residents

Fantastic experience: Took the girls for a fun swim in the wave pool. It was busy so there was a big queue to get in, but it was very orderly and very well managed by the lady pre-organising us ready for when we got inside. We'd never been before, and she was very helpful answering my questions and explained how it all worked etc. Girls enjoyed it so much they wanted to go back the next day!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic day out, lovely pool with great slide, very clean and well organised. Will be back.

Negative experience: Visited for Family Session and was prepared for it to be busy as it was school holidays however once you got in the actual building the place, including foyer was packed and there was a long wait to go in the changing rooms. Viewing area extremely crowded with people shouting over to people in the pool. No social distancing measures at all. Wave machine not in use at all during our visit. One lifeguard barely looked at the pool and was more interested in watching her colleagues.

Positive experience: After being disappointed with the set up a Freeman Quays leisure centre me and the kids went to speenymoor leisure centre. The session didn't last very long (about 50 mins) but the kids love the wave machine and slide and enjoyed every minute

Negative experience: Bad communication saying pool was open, to get there to be told only lessons on, and to come back at 12.30, on returning told there is and hour and half wait to get in for a swim. Try telling that to a 4yr old child
