JD Gyms Blackburn

Fantastic experience: I had some PT sessions with sumaiya at JD in Bburn whitebirk. I can honestly say she is a credit to that gym,fantastic in every way,she tailors everything to the client,extremely polite and friendly!!! I would 1000% recommend her to everyone!! ps I had an issue with a PT there who was not very proffessional and I had taken this matter to management who was fantastic and dealt with it in correct way and was very polite! Thankyou :)

Positive experience: Nice that they have a women's area but I feel it's neglected, they don't have spray and cloth to wipe down machine areas like they used to which was good and if I'm stuck with a machine/ don't know how to use there's no one there to help only PTs with their client, would be great to have someone around sometimes to walk through/be available to help.

Positive experience: Really good gym, plenty of equipment to use, great atmosphere and friendly staff and PTs. Only annoying thing is having to wait to use certain equipment due to people acting inconsiderately by sitting on the machines and texting instead of using them

Negative experience: As a gym it has all the kit you need. However the cleanliness and disorder is shocking. First time I’ve walked in there in nearly 2 years since I worked there and the gym floor was in a shocking state and disorganised. No excuse at such a quiet time. I walked out 20 mins into a session. I won’t be returning.

Negative experience: I signed up to this gym due to the ladies only section upstairs and seperate sauna. We pay the same amount of membership fee as everyone else who uses the gym downstairs, yet not all equipment is in the ladies section. When telling a member of staff, I was told to get it from downstairs! Whats the concept of ladies only then! I dont think it is appropriate to ask us to go get equipment from downstairs when dressed in gym gear! Today a male trainer has come in the ladies gym with no warning. This is not acceptable and defeats the purpose of “ladies only”

Fantastic experience: I recently joined and started with a pt. I've had a few weeks now of sessions and following a plan and I must say, everytime I walk in the gym its a friendly atmosphere, everyone is willing to help and offer advice. I'm really glad I chose to come here, and chose to sign with my pt, she is amazing and always gets the best out of me. Every week I look forward to coming in and working out (never thought I would ever say those words). My pt always has a smile and a plan and is amazing so thank you so much for everything. See you on my next session. FANTASTIC PLACE.

Positive experience: Went to this gym for the first time tonight and it was amazing to see a gym that has a women's only part. Seems like a really popular gym, even on a Sunday night

Positive experience: Quite inconsistent with the Sauna. For people that have work early or have a commute before work- wishing to hit the sauna before starting your shift know that on many occasions the sauna is not turned on please see picture taken at 6:13. That temperature at that time is not good at all. It should be more than hot at that time 2 reviews down from this one it says sauna is switched on at 5:30am. However if that is correct how is it barely 60 degrees at quarter past 6? Surely it does not take 45 minutes to fully hear an infrared sauna?

Negative experience: 36kg dumbbell has been broken for about 6 months and not repaired or replaced

Negative experience: Poo toilets - Almost every morning when I arrive at 6am the men’s toilets have toilet stains How can a bathroom that opens at 5am have toilet skid marks all over Do they not clean it overnight? Shocking hygiene Secondly the Sauna policy- absolutely shocking . Many of your clients start work at 7am often with commutes Switching on a sauna at 5:45 for it to be assumed ready at 6am is beyond a joke . On many accusations it’s not even hot by 6:15 am That is a waste of 15 minutes which is very crucial for people that start work at 7am Listening to the conversations in the changing rooms these feelings are felt by many JD needs to address these issues immediately as many clients have expressed frustration

Fantastic experience: Loving the new Hyrox craze, group PT sessions with Adrian are brilliant he’s so encouraging, pushing everyone individually to be better than their best. Haven’t run in years due to a knee injury and now 6 months in running again, much stronger and feel fitter than ever!

Fantastic experience: Love the classes at JD especially the Hyrox class with Adrian..even though I am probably one of the weakest I get plenty of encouragement from Adrian and the other group members which keeps me going

Fantastic experience: Just want to say a big thanks to Adrian at Blackburn JD Gym. I’m doing private Hyrox Sessions with him, my cardio training has now massively improved and body shape has changed for the better. It’s crazy intense, but love the change! Fantastic experience: Started classes with Adrian back in Dec 23, after I was asked to take part in a Xmas ‘hyrox’ class. That moment changed my fitness game altogether. 6months on I’m in the best shape of my life, fitter than ever, have taken running back up and signed for my first marathon . All because of an Ironman named Adrian!!! Who is a super nice guy and also one of the best coaches in the business . Xxxx

Fantastic experience: The atmosphere in this gym is excellent...and that is all down to the PT's. Negative feedback - please fix the broken machines in a more timely manner. Positive feedback - Adrian is one of the best coaches out there. I join 3-4 of his classes a week and have never felt better

Positive experience: Been coming here for a couple years now but it feels like each time I come in something is broken which is understandable as it happens in gyms but 1.back machine next to the boxing machines I’m convinced the knee pad has been broken since I started that gym 2 years ago 2.chest press machine (next to boxing bags) having an extremely uncomfortable starting position. 3. Chest supported diverging back machine thing, the chest support is so flimsy it’s supposed to lock into place but it moves up and down and is very irritating (noticed it’s been like this for couple years) So Yh it’s a great gym but the machines need to fixed some maybe even replaced there’s a lot of free space in there too so hopefully they can get a few more machines in.

Positive experience: Equipment 5* staff 5* Wifi is terrible, changing rooms shut after 12am which for someone like myself who works night shifts isn't exactly ideal considering it's a '24 hour' gym

Fantastic experience: My regular gym is over 2 years. plenty of free parking and nice facilities

Negative experience: Save your money. Don't get me wrong the gym is great, the staff are great but....the cheap membership price and uncapped membership make it a waste of money. Unless you are able to go after 10am and before 4pm there is no point trying to get a workout. It's insanely busy, I went at 5.30am to try to beat the rush it was still busy at that time. Please JD Increase the price and cap the membership

Negative experience: Gets too busy can't get on any machines although I am a member I would avoid. Waiting for Everlast to reopen and I will be moving.

Negative experience: Standard gym, no new equipment. Everytime you go theres always something that isnt working. How can anyone workout in a gym that always has AC problems? Pay monthly membership and they take 2-3months to sort out one problem. Pathetic tbh

Negative experience: It's a shame, the classes have really gone down hill here. Too many JD Burn classes, which is fine if thats what you're into but if you want a HIIT class, be prepared to get to the Gym for 6 in the morning. They also constantly change the timetable, therefore its hard to get any consistency with a class you like. They had some decent instructors delivering classes but they seem to have fallen by the way side

Positive experience: Cool gym, it has pretty much everything you'd need. Only faults I find are that the music is a unnecessarily too loud sometimes (we're all with our own earphones or chatting with our gym buddies, can be annoying) and that the ladies section needs more barbells lol

Negative experience: Good gym with good equipment but very busy at all times . Morning to evening very busy . Tried going at 6/7am even then it’s busy . So had to cancel as time is everything.

Negative experience: I joined jd blackburn when it ford opened and I was impressed a first. Unfortunately its been all downhill from there. The gym has got so busy it is absolutely unusable, and not just at peak times. I cancelled my membership after repeatably turning up at 5am and there not being a single bench or squat rack available.. when you are lucky enough to get on your chosen piece if equipment, be prepared to have up to 3 people waitikg in line to use it after you, constantly asking how many sets you have left..... also they hold circuit classes in the functional strength area on the gym floor, meaning whenever there's a class on, that area of the gym is unusable for members not taking part in the class. The gym has been open 3 years now and it's showing in the condition of the equipment. The staff seem obnoxious and unwelcoming (which the exception of 1 or 2) JD have let themselves down big time here.. £25 pm for a gym you can barely use due to the sheer volume of people in there is £25 I'd rather spend elsewhere

Fantastic experience: Love this gym,i used to go pure gym as cheap price ,then tried jd and i love it.way better equitment ,much more to do.much cleaner much bigger.better access.im so sticking to jd and not going bk to pure gym.alot of people are from pure gym and going jd.the only downfold is no seating outside the gym.

Fantastic experience: Staff member Zara was really accommodating and made us feel welcome. She helped us a multiple times, going back and fourth to get the sizes that we wanted for our items. Will definitely be visiting this store again even though we traveled an hour for this.

Negative experience: Oversubscribed- at peak times very difficult to get hold of equipment. Equipment very dusty and gross needs to be sanitised and dusted regularly. Don't even provide spray and tissue paper to clean it myself.

Fantastic experience: Really friendly gym to work out. The facilities are great, especially the sauna. Staff are always friendly and my JD personal trainer Nicholas is very well educated in his profession, pushes you the right amount, easily approachable and welcoming.

Positive experience: The gym staff and services are great, the only thing that gets on my nerves is there is not a set time to be able to use the facilities like the pull up bar area. Today I came in at half 6 in the morning and one of the pts was doing a session in that area !!! (As a side note this has happened on multiple occasions at various times) I understand that helps people who work early but it isn't visable on the app, and taking up the whole area for 5 people is unfair and a waste of my money. JUST TO REPEAT EVERYONE IS REALLY NICE AND THE EQUIPMENT IS WELL MAINTAINED AND REAL GOOD. Its just hard to be happy with a service where your told to move for unregistered sessions in the studio and downstairs especially for sessions that don't require that much space.

Negative experience: Great sesh, not to busy. Even though the last comments are still true, I'm dropping the gym rating to a 1 star as I'm constantly unable to use the app on my phone to get into or out of the Gym & this is taking up way to much of my time every time I want to go to the Gym. I've emailed the app developer with no reply. JD Gym sort out your app & app developer....

Fantastic experience: I got at 4.30/5am place is always clean tidy and easy to get in with my pass. Staff are so warm and friendly. Women's bit is great, just enough stuff and not to big.

Negative experience: No Security in this gym avoid at all costs. Lockers always remain open any can access your valuables. Staff unable to help other than to say buy your own padlock.

Fantastic experience: Perfect, everything you need in one place. I'd say that the qr code scanners could be better, always see people struggling to get in or out. Wouldn't NFC be better as a 2nd option.

Fantastic experience: You can go anytime of the day or night. Has a female only gym upstairs. Clean and spacious. Shower and toilet facilities. Has a Sauna. Also has classes through the week that anyone can attend. Water fountains to keep hydrated. Plenty of staff to hand if you need anything.

Negative experience: Watch your back with some of the staff in this gym. They gossip about members and I've seen it with my own eyes. From outside looking in, remnants of toxicity amongst some of the staff. My eyes don't lie to me.

Negative experience: This place is over subscribed and very busy. if you need any help, the only staff you find is the cleaner. There is always a couple of machines out of order.

Positive experience: First time at this gym, my sons been going almost a year and loves it,theres loads to chose from and theres showers,a sauna,womens only area,classes to do. We went at 6am and it was busy,my son goes from 10pm until 2am when its much quieter and hes not waiting around to use equipment. Staff are around if you need to ask anything too.

Positive experience: Excellent equipment and a large range of machines however gets extremely busy to the point you are waiting for machines, I tend to go at quieter times but still a fair few people.

Positive experience: The best gym in Blackburn by quite some distance. Really well priced, always well staffed and clean and tonnes of space and good modern equipment including a huge free weights section.

Negative experience: Too busy, people not re-racking weights, should terminate their membership

Negative experience: I think me and my partner will be changing gyms soon. The hygiene here is disgusting, feel like the place doesn’t get cleaned enough: the matts where you sit down to stretch have a layer of dirt/hair on them and I’ve now seen dead flies. The gym is simply toooo busy, they should stop letting people sign up after a certain number because it’s rammed all the time. If you go between 5-8pm you’re basically queueing for equipment. Also lots of broken equipment which takes ages (many many months) to repair. Gym is just neglected overall, such a shame!

Fantastic experience: Really good gym, it's open 24/7 however if you get there before 6am and I think after 9 or 10pm you can't scan in, you need to use your code. There is plenty of parlokg outside however you might not get a space and have to.... walk further to the gym, oh no.... The gym is huge and there is a great range of equipment, classes and trainers there. It's always getting cleaned and I've never had any issues here at all. All in, I do recommend this gym

Fantastic experience: I joined JD Gym in Blackburn literally on new years day. I changed gyms because of a better location and the reputation. Best choice I made. The equipment is easy to use, plenty of space, no waiting times for equipment. The staff are so helpful if you need advice, the music isn't intrusive and best gym in Blackburn by far!

Positive experience: Has what you need for a gym, great exercise classes and a separate ladies gym and sauna. Some of the staff are great, others not so good, playing around and being silly etc Other downside is how busy it can get (which isn't a bad thing really as people want to exercise) but difficult getting on machines especially when some people just sit there not even using it and finding more interesting things on their phone, but overall it's ok

Negative experience: Facilities are great but when I first joined the gym the men's dressing room and urinals were standout features. The urinals are now extremely smelly and the smell infiltrates into the changing room.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, a little bit busy at times but staff is very helpful and the areas well maintained.

Negative experience: No idea how this place has got decent reviews, half the equipment is broken and been that way for months, most of the staff are obnoxious and insolent - they have no idea what customer service is. It's literally unbelievable. If you want somewhere cheap and grotty, this is the place for you! If you want a decent gym where they value and respect their customers then I'd look elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, really spacious with lots of equipment. Great shower area with sauna. harder to go to by public transport as bus stop is a bit of a walk away but great for cars. Very open unlike Preston which has sections hidden by corners. Great weight rack.

Negative experience: Great gym but way to busy if you want to wait 15 mins for every machine come. If you plan on starting next year don’t go somewhere else this gyms full

Fantastic experience: I want to let you all know to watch out for thieves. I had my trainers stolen from the changing rooms. I visited the toilets for 2 minutes in my sliders and came back trainers that were under my gym clothes had been stolen. No cameras for obvious reasons but I also heard that others trainers have also been stolen in a similar way. My rating is still the same as the incident is to do with thieves that go to the gym.

Fantastic experience: if you want to eat well and especially close to home go here!!! Very good steak.

Negative experience: Gone downhill. The ladies gym has a real lack of training machines not allowing a proper training session to develop.Any new equipment keeps been put downstairs which has all the weight training stations you can think of. how many more bikes can you move upstairs into that small space for the women! The Bikes and rowing machine don't even get used and requests have been made asking to have things like a leg press leg curls etc but not been listened to. Also male workers and PT come upstairs into the women's area with very little or no warning given. There are enough female PT and female staff for this not to happen.

Negative experience: Gym facilities are great unfortunately people are not. People always being dirty and spitting in shower, shaving leaving hair everywhere. Today I found someone had spat his flehm in the shower (I'm guessing it must have been there for a while) really disgusting. This puts me off coming it really does

Positive experience: Super size gym, can get very busy. People can be pushy when they want the equipment you're using. Like literally stand there and wait. Seems to be quite alot on the juice. It gets very untidy, staff not strict enough with customer about putting the equipment back. Would like to see the staff engage with customers more, especially when you can see people doing thins wrong and could lead to injuries. Also some customer just dump their bag around the gym. The cardio side is awesome lots of machines to pick from. It's clean and tidy. Showers and locker room are very good ,clean and tidy.

Negative experience: It an okay gym, very popular. However alot of the equipment is either very worn or broken. The gym WiFi broadband is terrible however.

Positive experience: Nice gym with separate facilities for women. Has changing rooms, showers and sauna. Features a variety of gym equipment from static machines, free weights, cable machines and calisthenics. Can get really busy in the evening.
