Negative experience: Very disappointed with festive lunch. Plates were not cleared, waiter service for dinks was non existent and food was cold. Also food was not as described on menu that was sent to us. This was for a large group for work party, the restaurant was nearly empty, so no excuse for poor customer service. Unfortunately we will not be returning. A waste of over £700, would expect much better.

Positive experience: Just got back from a two night stay, nice friendly staff, our evening meal was delicious! We had a very relaxing stay, plus an excellent facial and back massage by a lovely lady named Deidre- thankyou! The gym is good and we enjoyed the spa. Our room was nice and warm and homely but the only thing that let it down was how thin the walls are! You can literally hear a pin drop in the room next door, thus were woke up by the people in the next room faffing about in the morning - the only reason we wouldn’t return.

Fantastic experience: Such a lovely experience. Room was lovely and evening meal was faultless as was the staff . Bathsheba was my therapist. Fantastic experience: We were here for a spa day and it didn't disappoint. Use of the swimming pool, hot tub, steam room, sauna and relaxation room. Ours also included an afternoon tea plus 2 x 25min treatments of choice. My companion is dairy free and the afternoon tea for her was just as good as mine. Very accommodating. The staff were also really friendly. Lovely day all round

Negative experience: My wife and I have stayed here perhaps 15-20 times over the years. In our opinion, it’s changed, and not for the better. It is now, primarily, a golf resort, which is fine but call it that, not a ‘hotel, spa and golf resort’. Perhaps a ‘golf resort, hotel and spa’ ? Then, when it’s busy, the lounge/bar and restaurant struggle to cope. I won’t go into detail but ‘run out ‘ of too many items, either behind the bar or on the menu. Final point regarding dogs - ‘dog friendly’ or ‘open door policy’ ? Dogs not on leads and barking in bedrooms. Before people comment, we’ve been dog owners in the past. In conclusion, end of an era for my wife and I, but we wish the hotel every success in the future.

Fantastic experience: Lovely decor, excellent offer with swimming, sauna, Jacuzzi and golf. Breakfast was plentiful and excellent quality with well appointed dining room which felt comfortable yet luxurious. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. They paid very good attention to allergies and dealt with a first aid issue in their stride. We visited nearby Belton Hall (National Trust) which was a whole day out as a family. The only improvement that could possibly be made would be some management of swimming pool users who were throwing a ball between them in the pool, which was felt to be inconsiderate and everyone around was unhappy about.

Fantastic experience: Just home from a weekend golf break at belton woods, I rarely leave reviews but feel this weekend was perfect. From the course marshals and pro shop, to the house staff in the hotel nothing was to much. I would say we preferred the lakes to the woods course but both were in great condition considering the weather we’ve had. Thanks once again for a lovely weekend.

Positive experience: Rooms and hotel very good golf course looking a bit tired greens and bunkers need attention it was like putting on a carpet and there suppose to be sand in the bunkers

Fantastic experience: Just popped in for breakfast but loved the service and friendliness. The lady behind the bar in the golf section was wonderful, really kind and helpful to me and my dog. Others I spoke to also were warm and happy to help. The grounds were spectacular.

Fantastic experience: Stayed for two nights over the weekend and had a wonderful time from start to finish. We were a group of 16 and were very well looked after by the team at belton woods. I was very impressed by every aspect of the stay from the service, to the quality of the food, to the two excellent golf courses. The room was spacious comfortable and clean. The food was fantastic. The golf courses were in great conditions and Peter (the starter) was very knowledgeable and very friendly. Special shout out to the bar staff that looked after us over the weekend who was ewelina and Victoria, they could do enough for us and worked their socks off all weekend to keep the bar moving despite it being very busy. Excellent service. All in all a fantastic stay and play golf event. Would definitely recommend. 5 Rob

Fantastic experience: I booked this trip for a party of 16 golfers and universally we all commented on how good the hotel and staff were during our stay. This is the seventh trip I’ve organised to a ‘hotel golf resort’ and this has been the best experience so far. Everybody commented on how good the food was at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The bar staff were friendly and worked their socks off during very busy sessions, where arguably they could have used an additional pair of hands. Special mention here must go to Ewelina and Victoria who really looked after us. The two golf courses were also both in good condition, particularly bearing in mind how busy they must have been at the end of a long summer. Special mention here also to golf ‘meeter and greeter’ Peter, who was so friendly and helpful on all 3 days and set the tone just perfectly for a holiday golf trip. Rooms were spacious and comfortable and the hotel is well maintained with friendly staff at all locations. Although we weren’t there for and didn’t use the spa and gym facilities, they also looked to be in fantastic order. I would highly recommend Belton Woods to anyone wishing to book for a golf party. One minor constructive criticism was the arrangement for setting up a resort tab for the group which I had enquired about prior to arriving. This was unnecessarily complicated for the period before we had checked into our room and there were mixed messages from the people in The Claret Jug Bar and Reception which led to a bit of unnecessary faffing about between the two locations and closing tabs and reopening elsewhere. One other point on the tab (we spent more than £2000.00) was that there was no visibility that we had received the promised 10% on drinks promised through our booking with Golf-breaks and needed to continually seek reassurance that this was being applied. Hope this assists with managing this element slightly better for future parties.

Positive experience: Didn't get what we booked.We booked a superior room. When we checked in there was a big queue with only one receptionist so an unacceptable wait. When we got to the room the minibar wasn't stocked, there was no robes and no espresso machine. Phoned reception with no reply so I went down and there was an even bigger queue . Receptionist said she would send housekeeping and she arrived to stock the minibar and deliver the robes. We never got the espresso machine.

Positive experience: Great for golf break. 2 challenging courses. Accommodation and facilities excellent. Golf staff in the pro shop were great as were the guys at the first tee areas. Breakfast excellent. 1st night at dinner service was excellent. The second night however was awful..... We were seated at 7.30, ordered drinks, we waited 1 hour for somebody to take our orders, starter arrived 1 hour later.....it was only garlic bread...... our mains then took 2 hours to arrive which was then 22:30. We were asked if we wanted dessert......but would have been another hour. This spoiled what was a great trip......

Fantastic experience: Excellent hotel and accommodation bit pricey Excellent food and service . Courses were in great condition greens were slow on the Woods Course and loads better on Lakes course all recently been hollow tired and top dressed but were excellent at the weekend. Weather was superb which helps loads. Would I go back definitely bit of a journey though .

Negative experience: I carefully chose a deluxe room on the website as these looked to be the most recently refurbished, when we checked in I queried the room but was told we had been upgraded to a superior twin…….although lovely clean bedding and golf course views which the one we chose should have had, the room and furniture was very tired….shabby and marked furniture… I would never had paid nearly £200 a night for this tired room. If I had known I would have chosen a basic room as the bedding would have been just as clean. We knew it would be busy with family’s in the school holidays and this is not a problem the problem was not enough staff to accommodate a busy hotel, a simple curry and pasta dish took 55 mins to serve, we were the only ones in the restaurant…. A 6 o’clock booking …….. then breakfast was chaotic again not enough staff ….our breakfast table was pointed out to us from a distance as the over run gentleman didn’t have the time to show us to a table properly, there was no cutlery…. We informed a young lady but again she was over run and eventually we went to where the cutlery was and helped ourselves. Tea and coffee from machines…. No service at all….very disappointing A far cry from the service this hotel used to give. It used to cater for all……family’s, golfers and couples but now it’s just family’s and golfers….it’s a pity . After many many happy stays here in the past this will be our last. Very poor value for money.

Fantastic experience: definitely one of the best stays we had. Stayed in lodge 18 for my father in law's birthday week where my partner and his dad played golf all week. Mother in law and I went for a spa and it was spectacular. lovely rooms, amazing shower water pressure. heated flooring in bathroom. shame sauna isn't running anymore in the lodges but completely understandable. breakfast was great, pool too crowded but overall fine.

Fantastic experience: Visited as one of 16 in a golf party for a 1 night dinner, bed & breakfast & 2 rounds of golf. Really enjoyed it. The courses were tough for me with long rough which claimed several balls, but it was a good test for the party. Unfortunately the Lakes course greens had been hollow tined so we're very bumpy which detracted from the quality of the course. The hotel comfort, rooms, public areas, drinks selection, quality of food & service were excellent & would highly recommend to anyone, looking for a quality venue, but be warned, you'll need plenty of balls (if you're playing golf that is)

Positive experience: The hotel needs to employ more staff when they are busy. They put too many golfers out just to increase the revenue. This makes it unacceptable when it takes 5 hours to play 18 holes. The flags had no markers on them showing the position of the hole, front, middle, or back. I won't be going back.

Fantastic experience: Everything was wonderful with the hotel, with a minor mark down for a lack of soundproofing between rooms (noisy neighbours at night). The food was fantastic each night, and the service staff were attentive and friendly. Skye in the Spa was a wonderful masseuse and removed knots in me that have existed since birth. I’m not sure I’ve ever been so relaxed and wish I had paid for another few hours.

Positive experience: Overall Belton woods is a fantastic golf course that offers challenging but rewarding holes that is really well kept. The staff are friendly and offer great customer service. However the drinks prices are criminal £5.20 for a sugar free Red Bull. I would advise management to review this.

Positive experience: We was disappointed that that jacuzzi wasn’t operational. As my wife was looking forward to this fertility as apposed to the steam/sauna room (my wife had an eye operation that unfortunately limited her to use them type of facility’s). We did however enjoy the local walks. And the evening meal and breakfast we both found to be superb.

Positive experience: The rooms were excellent and the grounds are what you'd expect from a golf venue - very well kept. Indifferent to the check in, a young lad who appeared to have other things to do rather than check you in. Bar staff were very pleasant and polite.

Fantastic experience: Just stayed here for 2nd time with a society of 32. Can’t recommend the venue high enough. Staff and course Marshalls very accommodating and went above and beyond for us, course Marshall took one of our props home to fix it as it fell whilst we were out playing and the staff set up a conference room for us with a projector for the England game! Course itself was tough, thick rough lead to slow play and lost balls. But fairways and greens immaculate, the buggies are first class too! Food and rooms were great and bars were good! Perfect for this weekend! I’m sure we will return!

Fantastic experience: Excellent! what else can I say. Great bar, food. Pool area quite nice little busy, great sauna didn't use the steam room. Lockers digital no cash required! Room was nice clean huge bed great bathroom. If I had to pick a gripe would be, the grounds are beautiful but no where to sit outside to soak in nature and enjoy a bit one on one, other than the bar seating outside. Small gripe. thank you.

Positive experience: Nice hotel with spacious rooms. Golf facilities fantastic. Spa decent but have to share the changing area with the public. But the food is not good at all. Ditto the service in the evening. Think Wetherspoons in terms of quality but not, unfortunately, price. Go to the Stag in the next village where you’ll get good food and service. When we went, it was full of diners who had tried the hotel restaurant the night before, been very disappointed and decided to eat elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: We're here every year in June for our society Ryder Cup tournament (between 16 and 24 golfers), and it's great to be able to say we'll be back again next year. Fantastic courses in great condition, a well stocked and helpful pro shop, lovely rooms with comfy beds, and the food is always satisfying. What made it extra special this year were the bar staff Ewie (happy birthday), Victoria and Sophie. Never flustered, always there with a smile, and looked after about 100 golfers watching the Euro games and the golf in the sports bar until VERY late. I'm back there in a fortnight with another society for another three day event, and I know that I'll be very happy with the service. Thank you ladies. You're a credit to the hotel.

Positive experience: This hotel very much caters for the golfers therefore the bar & restaurant is primarily men. The breakfast was excellent and the room was adequate, big bed, clean etc but very beige!

Fantastic experience: Amazing time at Bolton woods hotel. Rooms were well lit with multiple lamp options. The bathroom was very clean however, the toilet didn't flush too well but worked. Beds were comfortable with multiple pillows if you needed more. The TV didn't have many options if you're one of those who like to get into bed at the end of the day to watch. Bar and restaurant were beautifully designed. Seating areas always available even when busy which was fab. All staff were really lovely except a lady called Sue. Some of our fellowship were bigging her up for her prompt service during a busy time for a wedding they held but she just wasn't nice at all. Very defensive and abrupt, no smile even if you tried to cheer her up. Hope she was okay either way. Overall, great time and we would love to return again

Fantastic experience: Great place to stay, beautiful gold course, a good gym, swimming pools and a restaurant. Breakfasts has a great selection of items, hot and cold. Coffee machines with to-go cups if you need one for the road. The staff were really pleasant and helpful. The bed was huge had to call my wife if she was on the other side lol... but overall great stay would recommend it.

Positive experience: Like every hotel it could do with moor staff. The rooms are big some proper bed side cabinets would be good. The breakfast was self service but it was all hot and tasty. The golf was taxing with water and bunkers all over.

Positive experience: First, let me be clear: the room was outstanding. The restaurant/bar area is lovely. The food was okay (excellent crab starter, outstanding fish, barely-above-cheap-pub-standard chips, excellent breakfast). Service in the restaurant was okay. Spa and pool facilities are pretty good but it is a HUGE stretch [a lie] to call this a "spa resort". I couldn't give a toss about golf but I'm sure it's great. My partner paid a small fortune to take us here and, ultimately, the experience was tarnished. We had pre paid for treatments and an evening meal but anticipated additional charges. Essentially, on check in, we were asked if we'd like to "open our card". We did so, at a charge of £50. Their system did not work and, later on, a member of their team in the restaurant charged us for drinks and food. I was told this would be rectified at check out. At check out, I was told this would be rectified within 24 hours. Surprise surprise, it has not been. Nobody answers the phone and an automated reply to my email suggests they'll get back to me within 7 days. It's not good enough. For the price, I would go elsewhere. And whatever you have in your head when you think of "spa hotel", this is not it. Update: the hotel have rectified this 10 days on and I'm satisifed. The email from their Ops Manager explained that they'd investigated the situation and set out how they hope to improve their setup going forward. I'm satisifed with the outcome.

Fantastic experience: Ewelina was extremely helpfull and very customer friendly. The hotel is a great venue for our cider cup annual get together. Something we look forward too every year. This venue suits our needs. The two variations in the courses gives plenty of variety and entertainment, keeping the interest going all weekend. The service and friendliness of the staff just add to the experience. A great time was had by all.

Negative experience: My daughter booked a wedding package for May 11th, 2024. As the father I covered the costs for this and trusted that they would receive the treatment expected. Despite the attractive venue we were greeted with 'considerate' but generally disinterested waiting staff for the reception. For the wedding toasts we had one glass of champagne, and those glasses weren't even filled. However, the BIG reputation breaker was when my daughter tried to book into her honeymoon suite with her husband and was told 'there was no booking'. She was then told both suites were taken and all they could do was offer a replacement room. The room was apparently dingy and certainly not something you would wish to remember on your wedding day. They were promised a complimentary breakfast' which was already supposed to be part of the package' BUT that NEVER arrived the following morning. The morning staff were totally unaware of this. NO honeymoon suite, NO wedding breakfast - absolutely disgusting for such a highly rated venue. The duty manager was at a loss and could offer no reasonable explanation as there were no other wedding events being hosted that day. They did apparently put on £500 complimentary bar tab, but this is truly a clumsy attempt to assuage their own ineptness. I am sure a few of the wedding guests enjoyed this but my daughter and I certainly did not!!! You ruined my daughter’s most important day. She will remember this for the rest of her life. No words or actions can change this. You were also unable to manage her husband's disabled father - despite prior notification. Absolutely appalling and the customer service matched. My expectation would be for a full refund and then a complimentary 1st anniversary stay to demonstrate your commitment to restoring our trust. Mistakes happen but this should NEVER have happened. What a horrible waste of my money and a blight on my daughter’s most important day. Xavier Martinez (Father of the bride)
