Negative experience: I was very happy at this gym until recently I have made over 10 complaints in the last month RE heating in the changing rooms Aswell as swimming area. Only to be brushed of The gym is design to work out which means your body temperature will raise through the excercise Aswell majority of David Lloyd member use the spa facilities which means again body temperature will be high. Can someone from Management please explain why does the heating need to be on in the changing rooms because after sweating in the gym Aswell as in the spa ..last thing I want to keep doing is sweat after I have had a shower due to the high temperature coming from the air con. This is meant to be a health club… I really don’t see any health benefits from breathing hot air whilst exercising Management shouldn’t ignore member BUT act accordingly as it is members monthly payments that guarantee jobs for manager SO please address this immediately before the situation escalates to the appropriate authorities.

Positive experience: Partner and I trialled for two weeks. Firstly, was called by the back office team regarding upgrading to full membership before I’d even stepped foot in DL. Surely they would know that being as they have a digital signing in system? Then, the so called Manager and told that my two week trial actually runs for the entirety of November, not just two weeks. He “wasn’t sure though” so advised his team member would call me the following day and they never did. The same manager then called me back a few days later as if we never spoke to “follow up on my trial after talking to the team”. Which again, I hadn’t. So that wasn’t a great first impression. Gym is great, classes look good - impressive variety. The changing rooms however stink, including the toilets and smell coming from the sink drains. It was almost unbearable some days. The facilities are simply not kept clean enough. The gym is regularly run out of paper and spray to wipe down equipment. Additionally, the water in the spa, hydro pools is not warm enough. In fact it almost feels cold. At £220 per month for access to the spa also, too many kids, too many people and not clean enough for me personally. We’ve joined a luxury hotel and spa closer to home, instead for a much higher joining fee, but the same cost per month and it is stunning.

Fantastic experience: Luke is a lovely PT, has really helped with my confidence in the gym and has been super understanding about my injury. He’s created me a routine that pushes me but is easy to understand. Highly recommend and can’t wait to continue my sessions!

Fantastic experience: During my visit to the DL Royal Berks this week I was unfortunately feeling unwell after an exercise session. I felt very dizzy and sick and was unable to sit down. Daisy came straight over to assist and was absolutely amazing. She took care of me and did everything she could to make me feel as comfortable as possible and to make sure I was rested until I was well enough to leave. Thank you so much Daisy! Also thank you to Liza on Reception who was also kind and helpful. A great club, with wonderful staff.

Negative experience: Nice club. Staff there are good but watchout if you want to change your membership or cancel..... the lady I spoke to in 'membership support ' said it right when I asked to speak to customer services. She said 'we don't have customer services '..... no kidding!

Fantastic experience: Been to a fair few gyms across Bracknell in my time and this stands out - huge range of facilities, changing rooms aren't grimy and spa is a huge bonus. Came for the spa, but will stay for the 1010 quality PT sessions with Luke Mckernan (so full of knowledge, knows how hard to push & easy to get on with) AND Blaze classes with Kelly Gray (so friendly and keeps the energy up) - thanks both!!!

Fantastic experience: Jan is the absolute best Pilates instructor. She went above and beyond to help me with my sciatica and she is so attentive to those she knows, I was just happy to be getting a good workout in but Jan seriously did more than she had to and she is a big part of the reason I come to the gym regularly!

Fantastic experience: Having visited a variety of clubs across the country, Royal Berkshire is by far my favourite. Fantastic experience: We recently joined David Lloyd Royal Berkshire after a tour with Callum. Unlike every other gym membership sales person, Callum was really great and not pushy in the slightest. He took the time to thoroughly show us around, answered all our question and was really positive and welcoming. At the end of the tour he gave us pricing information and followed up with a link to join in an email. We really appreciated this approach and joined a few days later. Aside from pickleball always being fully booked, our experience of the gym has been great.

Negative experience: Nice friendly staff, the place is very run down with very poor gym equipment which is dated. The weights machines are inconsistent with the weights 30KG on one lat pull down is not the same as 30KG on another. Ceiling and lights are full of cobwebs and cracking paint everywhere with wooden windows frames not looked after in years. David Lloyd’s has not looked after this place at all since taking over I remember visiting this place when it was owned by Virgin and the place was really nice.

Negative experience: Went to David Lloyds today had the worst experience of my life I went with 6 friends of mine 2 were members and 2 on guest passes I also had 2 friends willing to dine up so they just payed £40 entry we then went in the spa that we wasn’t told we wasn’t aloud in to and got a member of staff come to us and say we was to leave the hot tub was shut the plunge pool didn’t work was warm and suna and steam were both cold this member of staff was rude and racist she threatened us with the police for no reason she also said if u leave now I will refund you and she didn’t I now that just how you get treated at David Lloyds I will be cancelling my membership and Iam so upset about this no one and I mean no go to David Lloyds Berkshire

Negative experience: Recently i moved to the area wasn't familiar with the set up of this gym. Though I have been a member of David Lloyds over 5yrs visited most branches and it's always good treatment which ever branch you go to. Today I was shocked by the instructor who told me that I can't attend her class(legs,bum &core) because I was 7mins late regardless of it being my first time in her class. I feel she could have asked me I felt like primary child. Atleast not for the service I pay for.

Fantastic experience: Great Club for the Family. Kids have come on with their swimming leaps and bounds. Not only do they now enjoy going to their lessons (elsewhere was a real struggle as lots in a class), I also feel a lot safer being around the pool with them! JACKIE YOU ARE A STAR!

Negative experience: Not a good experience, visited the club turns out you can't use the spa facilities. Unless you have a diamond membership. OK but I can use these facilities at many other clubs, even though I am a lowly platinum member. Also even if you are a diamond member, paying a fools ransom, you can't bring a guest in the spa using your guess pass. So, the point of the guest pass is what I really questioned what am k paying for, when you don't even have access to something as basic as a sauna. I think DL have now become way too over priced for what they are offering. I will be cancelling my membership soon. I am more than certain you can get a lot better somewhere else. I have also noticed the more so called exclusive clubs. Have least polite staff, least well maintained gym equipment and are generally more over crowded. Go figure that one out, the mind boggles how people are happy to pay over £200 a month for this place.

Fantastic experience: I just signed up after a great tour with Callum. He was incredibly helpful, took his time to explain all the different membership options for myself and my family. Fantastic experience: I had an excellent experience signing up at David Lloyd's Bracknell, all thanks to Paul, the Sales Manager. Fantastic experience: Took the plunge today and finally signed up for a membership. I was at a different gym before but spoke with Paul Bamber over call, email and even 2 visits to finalise my sign up but at no point did he make me feel pressured. He showed us around and just let the facilities do the talking whilst feeding us with the extra necessary information. When I signed up today he helped me to get set up on the app, book my PT lesson and showed me all around the app and its features. Class guy. Hope he gets the recognition he deserves!

Negative experience: The facilities are good and the squash teams are great, unfortunately as a business David Lloyd are thieving and incompetent. I lost my job last week and David Lloyd refused to pause my membership. After deciding I would keep the membership, someone in the admin team had already cancelled it, without any direction. The last month has been a constant back and forth dealing with the most incompetent back office team, that elusively cannot be contacted because they 'work from home', reception staff are lovely but ultimately useless because everything is supposedly managed by this central wfh team. David Lloyd have repeatedly taken out wrong amounts, doubled up and incorrelty billed us (always way over, never conveniently under the right amount!) I'm a chill guy, but this experience has been so incredibly frustrating, at a stressful time already after losing my job.. The club itself is good, but you better hope you never have to deal with the memberships team, sort it out David Lloyd

Fantastic experience: Hey, so I joined this club tour with Liv from Sales, and it totally changed my life. I never thought I'd be into gyms or anything, but Liv showed me around and it's like, way more than I expected. I've been a member for half a month now, and everyone there is so nice and helpful, from the other members to the staff. The class instructors are super encouraging, and I even met this awesome personal trainer, Emma. She's so patient and knowledgeable, she's really helped me feel more confident in the gym. The place is always clean too, I'm always seeing cleaners in the changing rooms and stuff. And if I ever have any issues with my membership, Liv is always there to help me out. I'm so glad I decided to join, it's been a great experience!

Fantastic experience: New member & absolutely loving it. I had joined another gym in the area before but this has been a completely different experience. The onboarding process was very easy thanks to Paul who helped my sister and I out with our memberships. The club is stunning too - always clean, great facilities & classes, the staff are friendly and it doesn’t get as packed as most gyms. Would definitely recommend

Negative experience: I hate leaving negative reviews but the club has really gone downhill. It used to be a really great gym when it first had its refurb and things like the new spa and Blaze were introduced and I didn't mind paying the higher price for membership as it really felt like a premium club and I was getting what I paid for. The equipment was regularly maintained and it was easy to access equipment with it in the right places at the right times and I could get onto classes at various times of the day. Unfortunately there are no classes for those of us who work late or have young children to get ready in the morning and put to bed at night (with work between), despite being a family club. I am unable to get as much benefit from my membership. At certain times in the day the spa feels more like a noisy locker room than a place for relaxation. Also, this new ice bath trend seems to have really taken hold and sometimes you can’t access the plunge for 15 mins where someone is challenging their resistance against hypothermia. The indoor jacuzzi is pretty much always cold so they could use that. The ‘peppermint’ experience shower hasn’t smelt like peppermint since it launched in its first week and the amethyst in one of the rooms has been a pathetic stump for some time. I have always found reception to be really lovely so cannot agree with some who have said otherwise. The new paint job throughout the club is interesting. Also, it’s a shame people have to pay more for some of the activities despite the already high cost of membership. Don’t get me started on people going to a gym but refusing to walk an extra few steps to actually do the gym so parking in the parent and baby spaces. Incredibly selfish meaning people with kids have to walk across the busy car park with their children because someone thought they were special enough to be an exception. This isn’t monitored at all. The crèche is brilliant, the staff are really great and it’s at a reasonable extra cost. The outdoor pool is also great. I feel it’s just become over subscribed and way too busy which means people are paying the same (or more annually) but getting far less from their membership.

Fantastic experience: I booked in my tour with Liv and she was so great and helpful! She provided lots of great information, she’s really lovely and answered all the questions I had! Im always nervous abo it starting a new gym and where to go but Liv put me at ease and really helped me show me around. A great experience, thank you Liv! Also had some PT sessions with Luke and he’s great! Really works and create plans tailored to you. I like my running and lots of my workouts have been based around my running goals! If you ever need a PT, he’s your guy!!

Fantastic experience: Been going to this club for about a year. Enjoy being a member. Have had a few issues with membership and staff have been supportive in getting them sorted. The facilities are great but Lazaro the personal trainer who I’ve been having sessions with has completely maximised and improved my experience at this gym. He is an extremely talented and dedicated personal trainer with a character of gold. He is fun and engaging, encouraging and empowering! Before working out with Lazaro, I felt shy and didn’t have much confidence in my strength. He pushed me past my limits in a gentle manner and allowed me to build my confidence while also building my strength and seeing some lovely changes on my body. A true asset to this establishment

Negative experience: [Update: yet another car broken into at the Royal Berkshire Club this time mine and not a camera onsite looking over the car park. Over £1000 worth of stuff stolen. After speaking to staff and customers it seems this is a VERY regular accordance!!] I’ve had an unnecessary and extremely rude experience today at the Royal Berkshire club today. My son’s account has been blocked from booking activities for not swiping in at reception (despite him singing in with the activity team each visit and missing none). The reason for him not being swiped in is that his card is digital on his mothers phone so I have not had an active card to sign him in. There is always a large line of people waiting at reception on both sides so the idea of waiting 15 minutes just to sign him in, when the process will be repeated minutes after by the kids club team is utterly ridiculous . The banning of activity is supposed to be so that people don’t book into every session and not turn up, which I think is a good idea however my son has been signed into every session and still been bared due to simply not swiping his non existent card. The staff take register at the activity themselves which should be proof enough that he has attended. The staff before today have always been extremely helpful and just unblocked the account id this has happened, as they know my son is alway present and that it’s just the formality of swiping that’s been missed. The staff today were extremely unhelpful and insisted I would have to wait until the bar is lifted to use the kids club, the receptionist on shift this day I found extremely dismissive and unhelpful. Despite knowing that this can all be resolved like before with just a click of a button in 20 seconds, we are being forced to wait for the activity manager to approve, meaning my son misses out on fun classes, which is why we pay for his membership (approx. £50pm) and my wife won’t be able to attend her classes ether. This whole situation has intensified the disappointment because of rude staff and caused by not being able to have two digital child membership cards- one for each parent. Lastly I think it’s ironic how a club with such strict rules allows people to park in disables spaces without badges , child and baby spaces without children but draws the line at a toddler swiping a card even though they sign in to their class.

Positive experience: Switched my membership from David Lloyds Brooklands to this, as there is so much more for kids and adults. The only downside is parking, as some owners (for example BMW M8 or Volvo , who are coming without any child) are parking on parent&child bays.

Fantastic experience: The facilities are outstanding, the gym equipment is high quality and the specialised classes are definitely worth a visit. The pool outside is a lovely break away during my summer and the spa garden is worth every penny of my membership. The team makes me feel welcomed in all areas of the club, from the reception all the way to the food areas. I feel like I’m part of a family in my club. My little cousins also love the “DL kids” clubs which run every day and gives my aunties a chance for a nice long breather in the spa. 10/10 would reccomend

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of this club for a number of years now and I love excercising and taking care of my health in here. There are plenty of choices, from Tennis courts to Gym Equipment to group classes to a great training Swimming Pool. The relaxing time I spend in the SPA is also crucial to keep my stress at low levels! The staff are great and, I have to say, lately they have been putting a lot of effort to make the member's experiences even better; like organizing great parties! The cons of the Club is that there are few structural issues and you may have rain coming down from the ceiling on studios and Gym or showers with low water pressure or aircon in the changing room not working properly. I have the feeling that this problem is more related to the Building Companies they have been using to fix all of these issues; I am aware that it is not easy to find good ones! Another negative aspect to mention, but this seems to getter better lately, is that some of the people using the facilities are very rude and selfish; there are people leaving nappies in the showers or plasters in the jacuzy, vaping in the changing without even asking for permission to the people that are in front of them, having loud conversation on their phones whilst in the SPA and parking on Child & Parents or Disable car spaces so that their expensive cars do not get scratched from others! I think the club should be more selective on choosing their members and ban those people that do not respect other members.

Negative experience: Don’t waste your money. It’s overpriced and over subscribed. Weights and equipment left on the floor, not enough attachments for the cable machine, you spend more time searching for an attachment or waiting for someone to finish. The gym is more focused on running machines than people actually wanting to use the limited cable machines of which there are only 2. The changing room that is used for the swimming pool and spa is not big enough and gets awkward trying to change when the person next to you is fighting for the same space. There are better gyms out there. Once my membership is finished am going back to JD Gym.

Fantastic experience: I've recently moved to Ascot having been a member of David Lloyds for years in another area. I like this club probably the best. And I've been to many DL clubs The only problem for me is they don't have any assault bikes. Every other DL club I've been to has many. You can only find peleton bikes here. Which ain't as good

Negative experience: I’ve been a David Lloyd member for sometimes but I have cancelled my membership for a few reasons. The cost could be affordable if you feel you’re getting your moneys worth. In our case we feel not. The family swimming pool is always half closed for lessons, meaning everyone is in half of the pool and there’s not much room to move about. The car park has become so full there’s a queue for a space on a Saturday, let alone trying to find a parent spot which is almost impossible. Last weekend when moving to the only spot available in the car park to plug my daughter into her car seat because I couldn’t open her door, I was told very abruptly by a reception staff member to move immediately - with no regard for the situation, plus there have been a few incidents of rude people, most notably the recent break in and a man on his phone in the steam room (!) who became very abusive. It feels like this is no longer a club for families, I certainly don’t enjoy bringing my kids here anymore - a financial goal feels like the clubs only focus. That being said the instructors truly are great, especially Ros Viner and Paul Strickland who I will miss.

Negative experience: Very hard to get out of contracts, machines in gym often not working, lack of staff in gym, people taking loads of equipment to use at once. The gym has a thick layer of black mold on ceiling and the walls look like they’re painted by a child. I only really use the gym and for £179 a month I would expect better facilities and basic hygiene.

Positive experience: The club is brilliant, class instructors, the crèche team, tennis courts, staff and spa facilities are 10/10 however the carpark is a nightmare for anyone pregnant or with children. I have two young children and the normal parking spaces are very small so I struggle to get them out of the car. The club does have child and baby spaces however everyone and anyone park here and the club don’t monitor it- which is a real shame as I know it affects lots of mums. Of course this isn’t the clubs fault, but the members that don’t want to walk the additional 10 meters before their workout however David Lloyd really promotes being a club for families so it’s such a shame it doesn’t fine/ban the people using these spaces unsolicited. I’ve given up going to classes/crèche sessions on multiple occasions as I couldn’t get my children out safely and I know from speaking to others in the club that this is a regular thing. That would be my only negative and if this issue was resolved I know a lot of us would be VERY happy.

He has taken the time to explain what the benefits are of the club and therefore the value of what their membership has offered. Being able to use this membership in Scotland where they spend some of their time is greatly advantageous as well as being able to use this club in Bracknell. Negative experience: Unfortunately DL uses the awful company parking eye to manage this carpark. Despite numerous attempts to cancel parking fines I AS A PAYING MEMBER am being taken to court by parking eye for 205£. If you think 2200£ a year in membership fees allows you use of this club think again it also involves being harassed and taken to court by parking eye. DL is super disappointing allowing parking companies to do this to its members.

Negative experience: Members of the Club need to be peoctected .. £220 a month for new members and i joined 3 weeks ago and £2000 worth of tools was nicked out of my van this evening. This isn’t good enough, you all quick to charge over the odds for membership but you can’t be bothered to look after your members. Your our responsibility once on your premises, we should we able to go and train and use all your facilities without having to worry about our property being stolen… i will continue to expose and give you bad publicity,and also loads of other members will also jump on the band wagon until money is spent on the car park… all these cheapers gyms are protected far better than you provide. Not one CCTV in that car park and you continue to let it happen.. I will park anywhere i like in that premises now, and that will be in disabled bays or staff bays until somthing done.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member for 6 months at David Lloyd Royal Berkshire. I enjoy the club, atmosphere. The PT’s and team are all lovely. My best experience has been personal training sessions with Lazaro. He has an amazing, fun, high-energy, always motivating you. There is no way I can give up! He has helped me form a great habit of keeping fit every day. Lazaro has guided me with a variety of exercise trainings, and in just a few weeks of PT sessions with him, I see changes in my body shape, building muscle, making me much stronger. His training sessions have improved my wellbeing and diminished my brain fog. Lazaro’s professional advise for diet and training has been exceptional. I can’t recommend him enough. Great expertise, knowledge, and innovation on training techniques. He is a gem. I am stronger and fitter and am working on my six-pack goal this year, which I never thought I’d say!. Lazaro is truly inspiring and supportive to everyone. I enjoy his fun Salsa classes! It is a happy and enjoyable place to be. My son really enjoys the kids club sessions. It has been very positive and healthy experience for us.

Fantastic experience: Such a great Gym & Spa - loving the experience so far & can’t wait to join and experience all the classes. A big shout out to Paul (sales manager) who has been so supportive since day 1 and nothing has been too much trouble!! Fantastic experience: The facilities at the club are great and one of the best David Lloyds I’ve been to. I use the gym mainly for Blaze classes and have been lucky to have a good set of instructors in Korel and the team. A special shout-out needs to go to Emily though, who was one of my first instructors and takes it upon herself to make you feel welcome. Whether it's a chat in class or saying hi to you by name as you walk through the corridor, it's the little touches about what she does in her interactions with you that make the experience that much better & far beyond any gym I've been too before.

Positive experience: Update: new fancy measuring equipment in the gyms, and it's £1.20 FOR SOME OAT MILK. They must be trying to pay for the new kit somehow Could do with some tlc in the changing rooms and showers, though, especially the pass through to the indoor pools as it's always ultra soggy

Negative experience: This club is not worth joining at all. Very poor customer service and rude staff, the club is overcrowded with kids running everywhere, including the changing rooms which are dirty. There is also barely any parking space during the day making it impossible to park. The sales team use aggressive tactics for you to join and are dishonest. I tried to cancel my membership, even though when joining I was told that I can cancel at any time but this was not the case! I had to still give them a one month notice. Very greedy and dishonest of them as they purposely make it difficult for you to leave. I don’t understand what is meant to be so exclusive about this club as it does not justify its extortionate fees. It is far from exclusive and is more like a kids club. It is an extremely overcrowded and toxic place which made me feel very uncomfortable. It’s seriously not worth it.

Negative experience: 29.12.2023 around 20:45 I left the pool and went in to the spa. The same person who was working the day before 28th was I guess “monitoring” the area. I walked in and so did another members she approached me and no one els after as I was in the sauna right opposite the entrance.This is exactly how she started the conversation… Your not aloud in the spa My response was excuse me?? You know your not aloud reception have told you previously!! I replied yes I am I’ve been a member with David Lloyd before this branch existed I know what I can access. She then asked for my membership which I responded no as that option was out the window at this point here’s my name Shaim Chowdhury go ask receptionist and come back with an apology. She then said that’s far.. and I reminded her she’s being payed by the hour. An hour or so later I didn’t get an apology just the usual racist behaviour so I left. This staff member has work there for a long time and has never said hello or bye but today she was acting like her Dad was David Lloyd. I’ve been to literally every single David Lloyd in the country I’ve heard the One’s in Spain are lovely but that behaviour is not acceptable. You should train your staff to approach members in a correct manner firstly asking them hi how’s your day, are you a spa member cool what’s your name how ever you like use some common sense. If like your skin is Brown or Black you will never understand racism when you’re singled out !!!!!!! Check the Cameras no one else was stopped. Other than this occasion Management are great and staff I’m literally in shock that she didn’t even come back and apologise. Not that a Sorry would have made a difference.

Fantastic experience: I had my first PT session with Lazaro late last month having recently joined the club. Lazaro contacted me by telephone during the day of my session to answer any queries however I was unable to answer his call. He very professionally followed up with a message making me feel valued. On arrival, Lazaro introduced himself with a smile, talked to me about any injuries I have, my goals and my experience in visiting the gym. Due to not being very experienced in the gym, Lazaro took the time to show me a range of machines he’d like me to use along with recommended reps and allowed me to choose my own weight so that I felt comfortable, emphasising that I don’t need to go heavy on any weights. He gave me options to choose from to adjust to any exercises that felt better / more comfortable. During the sets, he motivated me by talking to me positively and pushing me to get through the session to get the best possible results. I have a rare eating disorder which we also briefly discussed and whilst he may not understand the detail, he made effort to understand the basics. We made a plan of what machines to use when I visit without Lazaro’s assistance. He kindly shown me the weighing machine and told me not to get hung up on the results and that we’d revisit this in 6-8 weeks. The session was fantastic, I felt comfortable, motivated and feel that I’ve chosen the right PT to help me achieve my goals.

Fantastic experience: I recently took up membership at the Royal Berkshire and was fortunate that the process was handled by Cindy. She handled the procedure with the highest level of professionalism and efficiency for which I am very grateful..I’m not great with IT !
