Anytime Fitness London (Greenwich)

Negative experience: Staff are rude, weight areas always messy causing trip hazards and only a matter of time before someone falls over and hurts themselves also the toilets let’s just say it’s prob cleaner in the Thames.

Fantastic experience: Really lovely gym with great equipment and even better staff. On my first day of signing up Osman provided me with clear instructions on what the membership entails, cancellation procedures and a tour of the gym in great detail, it has made me feel much more confident as a complete novice in weight training. It is quite clear that the staff have clear interest in their roles. Osman in particular stands out, he brings a positive energy and has brilliant rapport with many of the gym attendees, including myself.

Fantastic experience: Excellent gym and really helpful staff I didn't know how to use a few equipment and Osman was very good at demonstrating how to use it and which muscles they would train. He is quite passionate in providing useful information regarding schedule and nutrition. The gym is extremely clean and I would recommend it.

Negative experience: This gym is a joke. Would give 0 stars if I could. When trying to leave, they do not let you. Once you are out of contract they just roll you onto a new contract and continue to charge your card without your knowledge or consent. They have also charged me late fees and refused to remove them despite me being a member at this gym for over 2 years. I have always treated the gym with respect and paid my membership fees on time but this whole process when trying to leave has showed me that they don’t care at all about members and just want to extract as much money as they can from you. AVOID In response to below: At no point was a I told that after my 6 month contract you would roll me onto another contract. Perhaps it was hidden in the small print that no one reads. The result is that I've ended up paying around 6 months of membership when I haven't attended once since February. This is clearly the aim of the roll-on contract in the first place.

Negative experience: The gym cleanness is good but I am very disappointed about the customer service team. I set up a direct debit for the membership fee and it will deduct automatically on 1st every month. On 1st August, the first time it deducted my money was unsuccessful. Therefore I immediately put money into my account to let them deduct it again. However, it didn’t automatically deduct the membership fee and they didn’t send any notices to me to let me know the payment was unsuccessful. Therefore,I thought I already paid the fee. However yesterday I suddenly received the message that I need to pay £12 for the late fee. When I received this I came to the gym and wanted to solve but no staffs were here. I wrote a long email to clarify the situation, but they ignored me and only asked me to pay the fine. I think at this time it’s not my fault, if they inform me at the first time and I didn’t pay, that’s my responsibility to pay the fine. But they don’t, I didn’t receive any notice, I didn’t know my payment was unsuccessful and I didn’t know where to pay if the payment didn’t go through. It’s the gym responsibility to let all the customers know, so why should I pay for someone else false? I am very angry and want to have a fair solution.

Fantastic experience: It's a great place to exercise, very spacious and not overcrowded. Equipment is well maintained and the place is clean. Imran is very knowledgeable and always ready to provide the best experience . Best gym in the area when it comes to price ,space ,equipment and hygiene.

Positive experience: Downstairs is a lil jam packed with machines with not enough spaces for walking, not Handicap friendly, but great machines to get your weight on!! Friendly staffs !

Positive experience: As a gym it suits a purpose, though as an older person I felt that some of the other people in there including the member of staff were ridiculing me for my efforts not a pleasant atmosphere at all.

Fantastic experience: Super impressed having signed up a few weeks’ ago. Every class I’ve experienced (Pilates, Yoga, LBT, body conditioning) has been fantastic with knowledgeable and enthused trainers. A novice re weight training, I’ve been encouraged and stretched. The gym is clean, well equipped and there’s always someone on hand. Particular thanks to Imran and Ewa who have been fantastic in terms of building confidence and pushing my endurance! I think it excellent value if looking for varied group classes which are fun and effective.

Negative experience: For the people that say that this gym is big I think they haven’t been to a proper gym it’s not even that big it’s over priced for almost 40£ a month you can get bigger gyms with swimming pools and much more machines guys keep in mind any gym that has a contract or late fees are scammers

Fantastic experience: I like this gym. However, it is small, some machines are not there, and the Lockers open systematically after 2 hours. The staff there are very friendly and helped me build my shape. Special thanks to Imran who was a big help.

Fantastic experience: As a newbie who was also kind of body conscience and never been to the gym in my life Imran made the process so easy for me. I had tried to contact other gyms in my area to no avail. Imran was professional and guided me through the gym top to bottom so I was very happy to sign up as I knew I was in good hands. Still feeling like a lost newbie I was helped by Leon who was fast to make sure I knew how to use each machine and Peter who gave me a thorough induction. I would also like to say the addition of George has been great. He is so lovely when I come in the office for assistance. The whole team is a delight. 5 stars all round!! I love the classes too especially the pilates. Keeps me flexible. I've now been here a year and my body conscience self has now become a regular gym goer due to the team. Thank you ANF Greenwich!

Negative experience: Potential to be great - only problem is they don’t have enough weights/DB’s around the entire building. And when you try to take them upstairs, they tell you that you’re not allowed… every time I’ve been there, never liked the vibe. Too many rules, that wouldn’t be needed if they just forked out a few 100 quid on a set of weights for upstairs… Woolwich ATF is much better, I’ll stick to that one for now

By far the best facilities around - they're always clean, sanitised, spacious and all equipments spread across two floors. I like the fact that they're opened 24 hours and they have competent staff members who are knowledgeable, friendly and extremely helpful but a special shout out to Peter and Imran - keep up the fantastic work!

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff which are always ready to help with a smile on their face, good machines to do different kind of exercises, many classes for you to choose from. Even though the gym is not giant, is just perfect, as is not full of people which is good when you want some privacy, the toilets are individuals which gives you 100% privacy. There are also many females training at the gym (which gives me more confidence to train as a women).

Negative experience: Please take my message very seriously and the following I’m about to say. Check your app, on my app it says my contract is until 2099 and I’ve been in touch with them before regarding my financial state due to my loss of job, which I provided proof for, I wanted to freeze my account. They blamed me with lying and said I wrote the letter myself, which was written by my account. Yes the company was under my name but it was shut due to bankruptcy hence why I lost my job. On a daily basis I’m receiving messages and every time I try and explain myself they still continue to refuse to listen to me and have now started sending letters home threatening to send it to the debit collector. I would recommend to stay clear from this company. There are much better gyms locally and no one has had this problem at other gyms, only this one. I am going to share this letter on social media as well. Thank you for your time As a welresponse to everything you have said, it seems like you have accepted what you’ve done. Firstly, you contracted my membership until 2099, secondly, you can easily go and look at company house to see that my business is shut and all the details linked to it. Letters will not solve this problem. Thirdly, I expressed my situation where I was bankrupt and you ignored me and my situation and continued to send messages and calls as well as emails. Some even saying I need to lay extra. Fourthly, you are threatening to pass it on to debit collectors. Just give me a response to all of these. I have kept proof of everything as well as the contract and I will gather all of this together if needed. I have members of my family who still attend your gym and I will be advising them not to. This is the first time I’ve experienced something like this. I did come to you before as well, even had PT lessons. I think this is ridiculous, it genuinely feels like a scam and I do not recommend it to anyone. I wish you was able to respond to all of these. You are also disturbing me and my family with your calls, to the extent where you contacted my wife. It is honestly outrageous.

Fantastic experience: I was visiting from Anytime Fitness Granada and trained for 3 days at North Greenwich. George and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The club was clean and spacious to train and I loved the detail of Fruit Friday. Thank you guys and see you next time.

Fantastic experience: Definitely one of the top 5 nicest Anytime locations that I’ve visited in the world. Lots of equipment spread across two floors, with more machines than free weights. It can be difficult to get a bench, even as late as 10PM, but there’s plenty of other equipment to work with while waiting. The toilets are clean and there plenty of sanitizing spray and towels for the equipment.

Positive experience: This gym is spacious and well equipped. Moreover, it opens 24hours! It’s really suit people with unique lifestyle.

Negative experience: Do not join this gym as you will never be able to cancel your membership. Despite cancelling my membership with a month's notice, they continued to charge me 3 consecutive months AFTER the month's notice. I had a proof of cancellation, they did refunded me the 3 months on my card at the time. After this had happened I thought this was the end of it, I was wrong. They continued to send me text messages every 2 weeks saying a late fee of £12 has been applied because I had cancelled my direct debit without notice (thank god I did or else they undoubtedly would've continued to take money from me). I ignored these texts, although a nuisance, I thought it was a technical error. Shockingly I received a debt collector letter saying I owe them money and my details have been passed to a debt collector! Simply appalling.

The equipment is top brand and there is so many station that you may do your workout proper and without someone to breathe in your neck. It is really nice place to extrasize in any levels professional or just for fun.

Negative experience: DO NOT JOIN! This company are a joke, they are still chasing me saying i owe money even though i have emails from them confirming my account would be closed and no further payment owed. Since then they continue to email me saying i owe money, i respond to them but they ignore every email. I now have a debt agency chasing me and i have had to take legal action against anytime fitness because they simply ignore every email i send. Horrific management team do not sign up unless you want to be tied in to paying for life!

Fantastic experience: One of the better Anytime Fitness gyms, staff and personal trainers are friendly and the place is quite large, airy, bright and mostly clean. Split across two levels, with plenty of free weights, resistance machines, enough cardio, a functional area and two studios. Free parking in the adjacent shopping centre. Large lockers that do not require a padlock, and large enough for a motorcycle helmet (which is a rarity). Showers decent.

Fantastic experience: I love the dance fit class with Frankie and love the classes with Graham they are both brilliant!!!

Negative experience: So today was my second day at the gym and it was even more crowded than yesterday - I counted and they were 13 people in second floor so how is this covid safe I don’t understand! If you are charging £37 a month for 6 months contract and with no options to cancel then at least try to make people book a slot.

Positive experience: we joined here yesterday and it was super crowded in the second floor - a lot more than when we went for test run. So I hope today it will be less because otherwise it will not be safe to go due to Covid. The Gym should consider the number of people letting in the gym and perhaps apply some booking system if the crowd keeps growing.

Fantastic experience: Been with this branch for more than a year. The facility is well maintained and the staff are very accommodating and friendly. They offer a wide range of options for machines and equipment. The space is huge so it never felt crowded. Despite covid season, they did a great job of sanitising everything regularly even the toilets are always clean. Well done!

Negative experience: I havent been since pre-covid but I enjoyed my time as a member of the gym. Generally I considered it clean and respectful plus it had everything I needed. My problems started after I left. Having moved out of London I requested a cancellation and paid the one month notice as I was out of my initial contract. I am now harassed on a daily basis for payment despite multiple emails and calls showing evidence of cancellation and payment. So enjoy whilst you can because you've got that to look forward to. Edit: 4 months later, still being harassed.

Negative experience: None professional unsafe environment with rude clueless staff including a totally clueless new GM to match, who claims to know all about running a gym. What a joke. This gym is unsafe and a dangerous place to be in for both men and women. Wouldn't go back even if they pay me.

Fantastic experience: I've only signed up today but what I've seen I'm very happy with - good size gym (2 floors) with plenty of equipment. There must have been like 10ish people in the gym when I went so nice and quiet. Best of all was the customer service, the guys who helped me were really friendly and answered all my queries.

Fantastic experience: Gorgeous gym. Big enough to fit everything. Upstairs is big too considering the outside looks incredibly tiny. Free parking is right next door for up to 3 hours and the gym is 24/7. Friendly staff on the hour from I believe 8:00am-9:00pm (might be wrong and they change depending on days too) and you can sign up for free classes too! Highly recommend

Negative experience: A well kept gym with friendly staff, but ruined by unsuitable music permeating its atmosphere. There's not much point in getting everything else right if you're going to alienate working professional members who don't appreciate tittyrat music their entire workout. Membership closed. You need to get a handle on your playlists and prevent it sliding.

Positive experience: friendly staff and well equipped gym. Dont quite understand having the toilet and showers next to each other. Gym is let down by its members, crashing weights about, exercising without tops. Its a little rough and ready for me.

Positive experience: New modern equipment, however sometimes have to wait for a machine since there's only 1 of each.

Fantastic experience: Loads of equipment including wattbikes. 4(?) squat racks and a deadlifting platform. Staff are helpful and approachable. The changing rooms are immaculate. There are straighteners and a proper hairdryer in a dry changing room down stairs. Vending machine is always stocked up.

Positive experience: Gym is fine but the staff and cleaners aren't great with personal space. I once saw the cleaner cleaning a treadmill when someone was on it - and I've been repeatedly hit with a vacuum when working out at a station. Its so bizarre.

Negative experience: Terms were not discussed properly and took a £35 deposit on my key fob when I joined but refused to give me my deposit back at the end of the contract. Taken 2 extra months to cancel my contract after the 12 months despite requesting them to do so many times. Poor customer service and showed no sympathy when I became ill 6 months into the contract. Only concern they had was getting there money every month. Literally paid the last 6 months and not used the gym

Fantastic experience: AMAZING gym with upbeat, positive, and friendly staff members. Best gym I've been to in London in fact, with excellent facilities. I signed up to the Leyton Anytime Fitness because it was very close to home, but I stopped going because the staff and people were so negative and rude, and it was always so hot and sweaty. I wish I could have lived in Greenwich to go to this one! I think other AF staff need to visit this gym, to learn the basic standards of how a gym should operate and behave!
