Negative experience: A shabby gym with very little in the way of customer service. The main gym area has insufficient equipment and space to cope with the increased number of members, and the quality of the equipment itself is fair at best. Many barbells and fixed resistance machines have rusty handles and many of the latter out of order due to lack of maintenance. The showers constantly run cold in the men’s changing room, and I’ve heard that this is a problem in the female changing rooms that has been going on for over a year with no resolution to date. The reception staff are polite and friendly, as are the new memberships teams , but that’s the only positive draw from this ailing gym. As of July 2024, TotalFitness Lincoln have also closed the main pool for 3 months for maintenance. This was done with no prior notification apart from a small A4 sign on the main entrance doors. As per the contract you sign when starting your membership, they should provide an alternative for members at a different location, but they’ve done absolutely nothing. I use the pool frequently throughout the week and now I’m left with no other options whatsoever but to travel to another city to find a suitable alternative . We tried cancelling our membership - and asking them above the above alternative pool options - but the customer service team don’t answer emails or phone calls (we’ve tried contacting them FIVE times in 2 weeks). We tried this at the weekends and during the working week but have still heard nothing. We’ve now had to resort to taking a printed letter of our request into the gym and handing it to the manager. For anyone considering joining Total fitness at Lincoln or elsewhere in the near future, please please don’t. This company has a lack of professionalism and customer offering that’s utterly disgraceful for an organisation that has posted profits year on year since 2021. I’ve haven’t enjoyed anything about my experience with this gym since joining a year ago, as it provides nothing in the way of quality when it comes to the equipment itself and clearly has a complete disregard for its customer base.
Positive experience: AC hasn’t worked for years when temperature picks up a bit which is obviously when you need AC the most. It makes training unbearable. Good variety of machines and a big space to train in. Staff are mixed, a lot of them seem unapproachable and rude but some are real nice. Lots of machines are looking old and worn now, considering you pay £50 a month it’s just not up to standard. I’ve been to several different gyms, vibes are better, equipment is fresh and the AC actually works.

Positive experience: Ok staff are helpful and people friendly but very tired and machinery needs a much needs an update. I've been told that this is in the plan for the next year, so fingers crossed as this is the right side of the city for me. Also, they could put on a lot more classes in the evening as these just get booked out, which was never an issue at my old gym. More variety, please, like fit steps, zumba nation, and body jam would be good too.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym facilities, the swimming pool is so clean and welcoming, hydro pool, saunas and other spa zones are lovely to relax in It's great for families and babies are very welcome in the cafe, pool and they have designated play areas for little ones with toys

Negative experience: Cold water in kids swimming pool, cold water in shower. Doors in the shower are not closing (even in the family shower) Doors in the family changing room also don't close down properly! A/C running even though outside +2. Not even close to be acceptable.

Negative experience: Mixed: Staff vary. Bad: Showers cold (horrible, puts me off coming) and entry system has been problematic for too long and no public signs to mention either. Not 24 hour. Good: Internet, free parking, usually no wait or overuse on facilities, quite good value for what there is (pools, squash and sauna options). Had to go a2 instead of 3 or 4 due to showers for me.

Negative experience: Can only talk about gym in evening but staff not interested at all. They are shocked if you polity ask them something. No air con in summer with metal roof is another reason I will cancel membership. It gets ridiculously hot. They have two fans only and manager turns downstairs one off at 9pm when it closes at 10pm. Good stuff…. Great pool area, good parking, great range of equipment.

Negative experience: Massively in need of an upgrade…. Aircon is either never on or doesn’t work, as even when it’s 15-20deg outside the gym area is a hot sweat box. Therefore when the weather is hot it is almost unbearable to workout, with all working out dripping with sweat like they have just come out the pool. Leaking roof… when it rains staff have to put buckets randomly around the gym floor to catch the drips! It’s been like this as long as I can remember, so clearly noting is being done to improve the roof. That said once something fell from the roof in the pool area, very dangerous!! A lot of the gym equipment is old and tired, with broken equipment taking an age to be fixed. I’ve been close to taking some WD40 in my gym bag! Some staff are friendly, and most on reception do try to say hi when you arrive, but most walk around looking miserable and like they don’t want to be there, which doesn’t generate a pleasant atmosphere. Sauna and steam room are regularly closed due to faults Gym area only has c. 4 benches which are rarely free. In comparison when I was at Puregym Sheffield before moving here they had about 15! Such a shame as the space has potential and with a little investment could have a nice setup. As there is nowhere closer for me to go I’ll have to wait and hope….
Positive experience: This is a a great place all over! The only thing I have to say is I would prefer a little more privacy in the changing rooms.
Negative experience: Come on guys, 6 weeks to fix the steam room? Where are the contractors coming from? Walking from Zimbabwe? The saunas are closed half the time too. One of the reasons I signed up to this gym is because of these facilities. There is literally no excuse other than poor organisation and lack of respect to your members to not have fixed it by now. You don't sign up to Sky for the full package then not have channels you are paying for. Nor any other companies services you pay for. Sort this out please its actually becoming embarrassing now for you guys that it's closed everyday.

Fantastic experience: A really good gym with a good selection of equipment. I enjoy the classes and the offer of PT sessions at a reasonable price. Tennis courts 2 swimming pools saunas and steam room. If you are going to use the gym regularly it is reasonable value. However their are cheaper alternatives for gym only. It is very family friendly a family gym area and swim classes and activities. You do get 4 free passes annually. I had a free trial before joining so if you are unsure it is worth a try. PT Jen is brilliant and attentive and I am already seeing results after a couple of weeks.

Fantastic experience: Great gym the facilities are top class, with a large pool and a small pool ( warm ) the hydro pool is very warm, also many sauna and steam rooms. The changing rooms are very clean and spacious with plenty of lockers and showers. This gym also has facilities for babies so you can do your workout and staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Positive experience: A good gym with a good set of equipment. The only real downside is the children's area, which is run down and in need of some investment. Also there isn't really a good set of machinery for kids. When I take my eight year old she can only use the rowing machine. At her school they have a better selection of equipment outside in the playing field. Weird.
Positive experience: Been a member for 4 years and I think it's a great gym. I wish they could've taken advantage of when it was shut during the pandemic to give it a lick of paint and maybe tidy up a bit, it's starting to look a bit tired. *UPDATE* Still looking tired, the prices have increased but the cleaning hasn't, not sure it's worth the £47 I now pay per month. *UPDATE* Gym is feeling very neglected, and I don't understand why the staff keep moving the equipment around upstairs. I want benches in front of mirrors not shoulder press machines

Positive experience: Good amount of facilities, loads of parking, huge selection of classes throughout the day. The prices have been raised significantly and they no longer offer any corporate discounts. The small pool has quite large restrictions if you were planning on taking children. It's closed to everyone for aqua every day (except Sundays I believe) and then they place further daily restrictions by making it adult only so you can only take children super early in the morning or late afternoon. This isn't great, especially when I have to pay membership for my 3 year old now when young children used to be free. I don't know why they can't just make the large pool adult only. Why do they have to have both pools Also, the snack bar doesn't exactly promote healthy eating with all the junk food on display, it's near on impossible to have a low calorie meal or snack following a work out. Strange promotion for a gym?!? Finally, the sauna in the ladies changing room is out of action more than its actually in action. There's never a rush to get it fixed and it's been out of order for at least 6 or 7 weeks now and that's just this time. This happens on a regular basis! When I'm paying £100 per month for a family membership, I'd expect things to be working or out of order for a minimal period. They are keen enough to take the fee so they should be as keen to ensure customers are receiving the service they are paying for.
Negative experience: Staff at this gym are absolutely useless. The gym itself is a good gym but it is very let down by its team. Waste of spaces.
Fantastic experience: Been to 8.30 aqua, fabulous, water lovely and cool, then someone came round with pieces of orange afterwards. Brilliant staff trying to keep us cool, great place, thank you.

Negative experience: Been a member since last year. At first I was happy but lately for the last few months the temperature of the hydro pool is time and time again too cold. And the temperature of the drench shower before entering the pool is stone cold! My reason for joining this gym was mainly for the swimming pool and hydro pool due to physio needs for past injuries and with the temperature not being appropriately controlled I have found that I'm not getting any out of the hydro pool. So I will not be continuing my membership when it come to end of contract. To add they seem to keep on running out of chlorine and having to shut down facilities. Since joining up the female sauna has never worked properly as it was dangerously so hot it would burn your skin, now its closed. Female showers have never been right temperature first they were extremely hot and now they are on the cold side. I assumed that paying the highest membership in lincoln would give me a well managed gym, how wrong was I. I called the gym a few days ago asking to speak to the manager, the lady who I spoke to said she would get the manager to call me back, after waiting a few days I went to the gym to speak to the manager to find out that the person I spoke to on the phone was actually the manager her self! ♀️

Fantastic experience: We've not long joined as a family, so far we are loving the pool. I've enjoyed the aqua classes, but it would be nice if there were more of those as they are very popular classes, which gets booked up fast. Our youngest daughter has taken part in a kids fit class which she has really enjoyed.

Negative experience: I have been a member of this gym for 10 months now. As it happens I'm moving back to Spain and I contact them to cancel my membership as I won't longer be able to enjoy their facilities. They asked me to send them the plane/ferry ticket to prove it. So I did, about two weeks ago now. Well, they waited until today to reply as today is the day the charge comes out of my account, which it did. The reply said that a ferry ticket is not prove that I relocating and that they can't cancel my membership. Very poor ethics.

Negative experience: Let down by the little things. Has great facilities, wonderful staff but the basics especially maintenance are always missed. Showers are either freezing or boiling, never in 3 years have I had a pleasant temperature. Hydro-pool is regularly broken, drench pool was last time I used sauna. Cafe is expensive, considering it is for Members only, the prices are unreasonably high. A lot of equipment is showing its age, popular items like leg press need replacement. They no longer do kids club and swimming lessons are also the most expensive in the city, even with member discount? The roof leaks when it rains. Car park is very bad, markings worn away, pot holes all over and the area floods near the entrance. Not really worth the premium membership cost, but there are few large with full size pool options innthe city.
Negative experience: We was told about there being a kids pool, but we was never told there would be lessons pretty much everyday and we would only get half the pool, it mislead me to think it was more private than it actually is. Also considering there must be hundreds of lockers you'd think they would have locks for sale. But no I had to get one off amazon. Surly this is a good chance to make some side coin and please customers by providing security. A pointless inconvenience. Other than that the gym equipment seems good, the changing rooms are nice albeit cold AF.
Fantastic experience: I joined Total Fitness about 9 week's ago now and I'm glad I did. I was a member of Sports Direct pretty much since they took over from LA Fitness but as you may know it's closed down along with the one in Newark, so I joined Total Fitness. It's quite a big gym so it never seems that busy even at peak times. They have a myriad of different resistance machines, one for every muscle I think. There lots of different classes if you wish to use them and there are 4 saunas and a steam room. There's a large spa pool with lots of different jets so you can get right in to those aching muscles and joints, the spa pool along with the sauna is brilliant at helping with the pain caused by my arthritis. They have a very big car park as well and a cafe. I can't fault the place at all 10/10.

Positive experience: Mistakenly took my turtle there. Not much good for them as they insisted he wore a swimming cap. For humans it's a good place though. Must proof read signs better

The parent company may be refurbishing throughout in the near future and this would lift the look and fix a number of niggling issues with the showers, hydro-pool pumps etc. The gym area has a wide range of modern equipment and it's typically frequented by average sized people (not contenders for body building competitions)

Positive experience: It's a good clean gym and pool. If they don't get the showers fixed soon, my stars will go down. There are only a handful of showers that work with tepid water. Even after a year, some showers now put out cold water. It seems only 3 of single cubicle showers work. About nearly a year, the showers have improved and are nearly all working. The temperature has also improved.
