Fantastic experience: First time at pure gym gateshead and I couldn't be more pleased with the overall experience the place is very professional the quality and choice of equipment is top tier also the place is very clean and if you've got a plus membership you can pause your membership anytime also access to a wide range of classes and an unlimited amount of vitamin water

Fantastic experience: Very good value for money and no contract etc., and as I'm retired I can go during off peak periods, which is not as busy, so easy to get on machines benches etc., and the PT I use is very knowledgeable and able to guide me on my journey to lose a bit weight and get fitter.

Negative experience: Very inconsistant site. Sometimes music blasting, sometimes quiet background music, same times each day - seems to be decided by whos on shift. Screens off half of the time, machines usually take 2 months for repair. Sometimes AC on full pelt when cold outside yet on some summer days its barely on (Im an AC engineer). And an leak on an AC unit upstairs been leaking now 6 weeks so far (10 min repair for an engineer so they obviously havn't had a company out). Maybe don't want to spend money but then have just changed all the equipment for 'upgraded equipment' which in reality is just a different colour. Downstairs now has only half amount of equipment now. Rarely any staff on so when keyfob single entry doors break - no one can get in or out - i've previously waited for 20 mins with a crowd, no staff seemed to be in, site doesn't have a phone number to call or intercom so i ended up going home. Paralel universe this gym - nothing makes sense :s

Positive experience: Much better since new equipment Installed but still individuals that bite their nails and just spit it on the floor, it's disgusting and quite frequent also a lot of litter as people must of forgotten how to use a bin. Overall though it's a decent gym.

Positive experience: Gym classes are canny! The gym generally does get quite busy though which can sometimes be off-putting. For the price though, can't really whinge

Negative experience: Returned to this gym recently after a couple of months break and I’m shocked. It’s extremely smelly, it’s packed, half of the equipment seems to be gone, they’ve introduced some restricted area. It takes ages to get on the machines you need. They send the surveys after the visit but I respond every time with my honest feedback and areas they need to improve on and it’s just gets ignored. I emailed them once about 3 locks out of 4 in ladies toilets being broken and they just ignored it

Positive experience: Far better, nicer and cleaner than the Eldon Square gym. Yet, sometimes when the ladies’ toilet is cleaned, it’s smells so incredibly strong of bleach it makes you nauseous and unable to use it. Last time I nearly fainted inside of it.

Positive experience: I got late for work today as just two showers run hot water in the men's changing room. Both were occupied. I ran the water for ten minutes in the rest of the cubicles but no hot water. I had to have cold shower on last occasion when suddenly hot water was shut off from these cubicles. Staff was very unsupportive when I took this matter to the office. By their language they are aware of the issue but sitting on it for weeks now. Just two showers working is really absurd especially when you time yourself to work out early morning and get to work. Please sort this out.

Positive experience: Love this gym but could benefit from a few extra pieces of equipment that other puregym have (for example, hip thrust machine, back extension with bar, etc)

Negative experience: Mucky, dirty gym with non invested staff. Water machine is not working and there is brown, mucky water in one of the 2 water fountains they have across 3 floors. One of the worst gyms in terms of cleanliness and staff effort.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, well equipped with different areas for different sports such as calisthenics, functional, cross training and Weightlifting.

Fantastic experience: The place for exercise and working out with a reasonable charge. This place is the best PureGym branch in Northeast. I have been working out for 4month, although this Gym is little bit busier rather than other branch , I highly recommend you to choose it. Good atmosphere, big area, different equipment and friendly staffs.

Fantastic experience: It's very good to be fair though, everything is great.

Positive experience: Only problem is people on their phones for a ridiculous time without using equipment.

Negative experience: The gym is unclean and always messy. The equipment is OK but the atmosphere is rubbish.

Positive experience: Overall lovely gym, their peak hours tend to be about 2 hours after 5pm I find. There seems to be two of every machine which helps, except only one Smith Machine which can get busy. However there are a few issues that still have not been fixed: There is no longer air condition upstairs which means it gets stupidly hot when working out, especially when it’s busy. I wonder if this is dangerous. The sports water machine can sometimes dispense water that smells and tested a bit cheesy depending on the flavour. I wonder if it needs cleaning out regularly? The water taps in the men’s toilets gush with far too much water. You get soaked every time, and as a result, nobody washes their hands. - coincidentally, the water fountains have a weak trickle. The cleaning stations have not been restocked in weeks so I can’t clean down a machine after a sweaty person before me. Some of the equipment can be faulty but in fairness, if it’s a weight machine, it gets fixed within a week or so. I don’t like the new circular dumbbell weights as they roll around on the uneven floor, causing trip hazards, but it’s nice to see more weights on the lower end as these tend to be popular. The walls and windows have mould on them and the aircon does not work upstairs. It needs a good clean The staff are friendly/ good. Overall a lovely gym, it just needs a bit of looking after. Far better clientele come here over Newcastle pure gym, Eldon gardens, and have better gym etiquette.

Positive experience: everything about the gym is great, but they really need to take a look about the cleaning process and the smelll please

Negative experience: I love Pure gyms but get the feeling this one isn't being run to its fully potential. It needs cleaning more frequently and loo paper stocking up etc! And there are loads of unused cardio equipment, but for the size of the place very little stretching area or free weights space. Always a queue for bench press and deadlift. Need more plates and also more safety grips for the free weights. Missing some good bits of kit that other pure gyms have too (for example assault bikes).

Negative experience: The gym looks like a green house the only place where the air conditioner is working is on the free weights, and on top of that the vending machine is not working as the drinks are not cooled at all . As you can see the air conditioner is off . It’s 25 degrees today .

Negative experience: The rudest staff that I’ve ever seen in my life!

Positive experience: A great range of equipment & a good temperature all year round, though it is getting quite expensive.

Fantastic experience: Great gym over 4 floors

Negative experience: Very poor sanitary standards. I've been a member of Pure gym in Gateshead for many years and cleaning standards have been declining for a while but recently it just became shocking. The floor in the shower area is so dirty that it's becoming pink, the shower cubicles haven't been cleaned in ages and are repelling. The gym itself is great. It offers a great amount of equipment and this is why I've always been choosing it over other places, but the cleaning regime really needs to improve if this place wants to keep the members.

Negative experience: Mobile reception is nil. Ok range in equipment. Free weights section could do with being expanded 2-3 times what it is now.

Fantastic experience: Facilities look good. There's less of a human element. If you don't want to talk to anyone including staff this is the place for you. It's full of young adults so if you're a middle aged portly fellow you may want another gym.

Positive experience: Equipment is dated (10+ years old) and seems poorly maintained overall. Several machines out of order on my visit. Cleaning stations empty, hand sanitiser on entry also empty. Good space availability and nice changing rooms. Can’t expect 5 star experience for the price. I will still be attending for now.

Fantastic experience: Just started using this Gym last week 03/01/2023 and I absolutely love it. Their app and entrance are of excellent standard. Easy access via the pods. Definitely a good idea to get an induction first so you know what to do. Workouts and and Classes are definitely worth doing. Recommend this Gym to anyone who wants to find decent excerise.

Negative experience: Too longs parking

Negative experience: Disappointed a 24 hour gym was closing without any notification and stating it was open on Google. Only found out when I turned up at 3.20 that it was closing at 3.30pm waste of time.. Also equipment needs maintained quicker if something is out of order it should be dealt with ASAP. Dumbells need to be bigger as restricts progress for more experienced gym goers. Cable attachments row, pull down etc have a smooth rubber grip which rolls when pulling heavier weights. Having to reset grip also creates injury during a lift trying to balance the lat pull down bar when mid rep because the rubber spins puts strain joints. Safer if the rubber was taken off. Fare rating based on using a number of gyms around the North East. Correct equipment and safety essential when trying to progress.

Fantastic experience: Best gym I’ve ever been to! Such friendly and helpful staff. They gave me back £20 out of seasonal good will when I couldn’t pay my membership one month and have always been extremely helpful when I asked how to work machines, really good equipment too! I will be staying and recommend this gym to anyone :)

Fantastic experience: Was great to experience another gym! Mine doesn't have some bits gateshead has. Was a bit warm, was the air-con working? As my new home gym, it has updated pieces, more Smith machines, and cable cross over machines, and smaller cable cross over machines, and replaced the equipment, sadly got rid of a favourite of mine and the shoulder/late raise machine. The air con was recently updated. Ask some one that doesn't shop by using apps or contactless, it is disappointing to see that the drinks and bars dispenser machines no longer accommodate coinage

Negative experience: Look elsewhere, this gym can't accommodate the amount of people who have joined. It used to be excellent and had quiet times which is good when you have ASD, but now days it's always busy, there are loads of barely used stepping machines downstairs but upstairs there is only one space for deadlifting which means many times I've just gone straight home without doing anything because of queues. What equipment is where and how much of it seriously needs to be looked at.

Positive experience: If you want cardio or classes or access to a gym at unusual hours then this will work. The place is clean, tidy and well-maintained. There's a solid range of cardio equipment that should be available even at peak times, but like many gyms the weight and resistance machines are oversubscribed. To their credit there's a good range and number of machines spread out throughout the gym, and classes take place pretty frequently and are simple to book. My biggest criticism is that the free weights area is very small for the amount of floor space available, so if that's your intended work area then don't even consider trying at peak times.

Negative experience: Don't attend if all you want to do is work out. There were cockroaches on the mats, and the plaster is flaking off the walls. There are numerous broken and malfunctioning machines. I used to be fine, but today it is in desperate need of a thorough renovation and, to tell you the truth, it poses a threat to people's health.

Positive experience: Could be a lot cleaner. Never seems to be any staff cleaning machines or doors etc

Positive experience: Great big spacious gym with lots of machines and equipment. Puregym do classes everyday which look great and I would like to try some. The negatives for this gym is that the women's changing rooms have no private changing rooms in them and also no one uses the showers because they are absolutely freezing cold once you switch them on and then all of a sudden they quickly become scolding hot! None of the hairdryers work for more than 5 seconds before they switch off. I thought it was so disappointing since this gym is so close to where I live and I would have liked to have had a shower and got changed before heading home or to work etc.

Positive experience: No parking machine provided on a Sunday. No music on A Sunday . You have a 24/7 CCTV on what is the problem I know that Tescos has a free parking after 6. However I come when is suits me not the gym . Be going elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: I've been a member of Pure Gym before, therefore it was an easy choice to make when I decided this week to join a Gym again.... Great place with plenty of equipment and the fact it's 24/7 is ideal for me. I chose the plus membership as I'm a long distance Truck Driver, so when I park up of there's a Pure Gym close by I can go and Train. I recommend to all, go after it ✔

I didn't have a clue to start with and they've kept me right with everything both in the gym and outside the gym with diet plans and endless meal ideas too. Couldn't recommend her more!!

Negative experience: This gym should get shut down,it’s a absolute clown show,personal trainers are over weight walking around with McDonald’s bags and do not know what a personal trainer is,the only thing they train is peoples joints and cause injuries to people and take money for it, it’s a Cyrus not a gym
