Eccles Leisure Centre

Positive experience: Nice gym which I have been visiting for 2.5 years now and happend to become something like my second home. I would appreciate a bit more hygiene and regular cleaning - machines are visibly dirty and there is quite a bit of dust and spiderwebs here and there. Also group sessions are always too loud and keep their music on maximum which I find too much disruptive. But besides this, I am overall happy with the gym.

Negative experience: honestly not sure what to make of this! i've been trying to book a badminton court for 5 days now, keep being told there is a system update and to try again the next day, would be much better service if someone could just take my details and arrange the booking or call me back when they can do this! poor service!

Fantastic experience: Showers are very outdated and won't be using them. equipment ok apart from smith machine which needs up dating..staff very friendly tho and very impressed with cleaning facilities.

Fantastic experience: So maybe not best studio , well it’s not a studio but part of an old sportshall , no aircon… open to the gym area …‍♂️. and the DM might turn down the music but the vibe and friendly atmosphere transcends those minor niggles . Love body pump Tuesday 6.45 need more equipment as it’s oversubscribed…

Negative experience: My God!! I went for a swim here today. The changing rooms are shocking! Dirty and outdated... But the most shocking thing is... There is ONE toilet just by the entrance to the pool. It has no door... It has no walls... It is literally just plumbed in to the corner of the dressing room near the sinks. So, if you need a number 2... You can have a good old chat to adults and children as they all pass by to enter the pool while you curl one out! This is worse than I would expect in a 3rd world country. There would be more dignity If you pood in the pool! Surely it's your human right of privacy for such an occasion... But no!... You're forced to be a public spectacle! I'm not easily shocked but my god! This is a modern society! You expect us to pay for this depravity?? SALFORD CITY COUNCIL... YOU ARE AN UTTER DISGRACE! I will never return to Eccles Leisure Centre... It is disgusting!

Negative experience: A leisure centre charging £1.80 for a bottle of water

Negative experience: There is no waiting list system for swimming lessons. First come first served method employed meaning that people who want lessons need to randomly call hoping that a space has freed up. Would be easier for customers and staff at the leisure centre to just keep a list of customers who are waiting for lessons to minimise incoming calls to the centre. Pretty disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Great leisure centre, clean pool and relatively good lane swimming programme.

Positive experience: Started to days ago after the refurbishment and it looks unbelievably good. Although I think they should add a curtain to the bathrooms showers, don't like seeing naked guys from the corner of my eye.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic. My son has swimming lessons here and he is developing nicely. The teachers are doing a great job. The ONLY thing I would suggest is coming up with some sort of alternative way when kids are finishing their lessons. Their has GOT to be a better way for the kids to exit instead of parents crowding in the changing room entrance. Not a square inch left to move ...

Positive experience: Conveniently situated in Eccles town centre close to transport, shops and the library, Eccles Leisure Centre has an extensive well-stocked gym on two floors, a sports hall and an accessible swimming pool. Opening hours are good. A wide range of dry and wet classes are offered. There are a range of membership options or people can pay as they go

Fantastic experience: First time visited Eccles Leisure gym , so many exercise machines, weight lifting equipment, cardio machines. Will come back. Reccommend!

Positive experience: Good gym rarely have to wait for weights helpful customers, leg press machine needs fixing though

Negative experience: I've been a customer for more than 3 years now but i have to say im getting disappointed with gym's equipment and hygiene. Gym looks like is not looked after anymore. Some machines are left broken for months. There are machines that are hardly used and i believe they could replace with some popular ones that are not there. Also state of some machines is poor. Exercise matts are old and too short. There are too many kids coming to free weight area causing chaos and mess. Also its dangerous for kids to be around heavy weight dumbells or bars. Also Ive never seen staff cleaning gym properly other than vacuuming at the end of day. There is a spray to clean equipment but when i spray it it looks like water ( doesn't have any smell and there is no foam and have consistency of water) at least during pandemic there used to be a bucket with blue cloth soaked in some cleaning detergent that people used to use. The gym needs a DEEP clean like cleaning AC unit, walls are covered in dust. Dust behind treadmills... List is long. There are many staff members but doesn't seem they do much there ( in female changing room there is a A4 paper about something that was scheduled for 6th Dec 2022...) overall ill be looking for a different gym once my membership is finished.

Negative experience: The only thing i am not happy with at this gym is the fact that too many of the gym stations are out of action for a very long time. There can be up to 5 stations out of action at one time, and the only answer you get, when you complain is we are waiting for parts. One station was out of action for over three months and at present all the rowing machines have been out of action for over two months. It doesn't take that long to get parts, i have got to the stage now, that i have stopped going it's just not good enough, sort it out.

Negative experience: Honest review….. This place is bad! Trained in the gym here for a year and couldn’t wait to terminate my membership. The gym is overrun with children, most of the them using the adult weights area, lifting free weights and barbells! The gym staff do nothing to enforce gym policies or procedures. The gym itself is tired, dirty with a consistent number of machines “out of order”. Gym staff unmotivated, have poor direction from management and overall lazy. The one positive, the other gym members are nice friendly people but clearly too are tired of paying for a poorly run facility. During my membership I have raised all my concerns both in person and in writing with no positive outcome or resolution to any of the above issues.

Fantastic experience: Great little Leisure Centre very busy at times. Not tried any sports yet but am very pleased with the Aqua Fit class on Friday morning. Caters for over 70's very well.

Positive experience: Not bad for lane swimming

Negative experience: 15 years of training and never been in a gym so poorly run. Management are below any reasonable standard but yet nothing is done. Dirty gym with sweat on manchines that's months old. Staff pop in to talk to each other but never clear weights or clean. Heart FM plays throughout the gym playing classical 70s tunes, while the carabiners for machines are cable tied on and rip your clothes. The fact that Management have allowed 2 different size clips to be attached to each side of a machine that you'd do flies on says it all really. Staff have never trained a day in their life so have zero understanding or empthy to run a gym. Rough and rude is the motto at this place for staff

Negative experience: This place seriously needs closing down! Gym overwhelmed with young kids, gypsy’s living in the car park, staff useless and half asleep! Disaster waiting to happen!

Fantastic experience: Large, plenty of equipment (but currently no rowing machine), very friendly reception staff.... clean and well-run. In daytime, usually a sprinkling of people, many of them elderly.

Positive experience: Qas there for a child's birthday party. Plenty of room in the sports hall for the children to run around. Could also fit a bouncy castle in there as well planty of tables and chairs for food. The carpark had enoth parking though you have to pay unless on a Sunday. Nice place.

Positive experience: They were very good got my booster jab there no problem all the staff were really good and helpfull would advise anyone to go there for there covid booster didn't even notice I'd had it people all very nice and very efficient

Positive experience: Went for covid booster. Car park is pay and display, but what is not clearly advertised until you enter the building is that if you are attending for a booster vaccination the parking is free. I do wonder how many paid that didn't need to! In, registered, jabbed and out very quickly. Staff and volunteers were friendly, helpful and efficient without making you feel rushed. Credit to them all for the work they are doing.

Fantastic experience: Kids loved going to the Swim for All. I have only ever used the swimming facilities there.

Positive experience: Swimming classes for my daughter. All great and good. My issue is with the gym. The off peak monthly price is £30. PureGym, less than 1 mile away has their off peak for £15. Their full package is only £30. Sep 22 edit. I've taken 1 whole star off. The council owned car park attached to the leisure centre. At no point do any members of staff ask how you have travelled to the centre today. Yes they have free visitors passes to put in your car window but you have to ask for them and you get no warning there may be parking attendants giving out tickets.

Positive experience: It is a good gym, the gym is renovated, there is a huge workout section at the back, there is also a nice graffiti in the gym

Fantastic experience: I have booked now for school holidays and having a disabled daughter aged 11 I cannot praise the facilities and staff enough, the facilities are excellent especially the disabled facility and the staff are absolutely amazing always going above and beyond to make our visit go smoothly they are so lovely and kind would give this place 10 out of 10 stars not just 5! FANTASTIC PLACE TO GO!

Fantastic experience: Eccles Leisure Centre (part of Salford Community Leisure) is a fantastic facility offering (under normal circumstances) group exercise classes, a large and well equipped gym with a strength and conditioning area complete with squat racks and deadlifting platforms, and a 25m swimming pool. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and happy to help.

Fantastic experience: It's a good gym but at the moment you are limited to one hour blocks. Which I find frustrating if you need longer than an hour you have to leave the gym for 30 minutes walk round Eccles before you can use the next hour block

Positive experience: It was alright, the showers are hot but the water in the swimming was shall we say different temperature was variable from one end to the othwe. The best way to describe it was if you've ever swam in a reservoir when you swim throuth different currants over than that it's ok
