Fantastic experience: This gym will take your gains to the next level. Been coming here for 3 years and the growth has just been immense, and the community of lifters and gym goers is such a wholesome environment. The customer service from Tabitha as well as Georgia, Sian and more just makes the whole experience 10x better and they are always willing to help and give advice where possible. Now it’s 24 hours, even better!

Positive experience: Good gym, with a couple of changes required. Please open longer at weekends, it's the only reason I'm thinking of leaving. Step Master, you need at least 2 more. People will be on them for ages, only having 2, at peak times for 45 mins and therefore I can't get on them with the time I have. Often at peak times it's hard, they are simply never available. Chelmsford is a good site, but Braintree is superior. Final thought, please can someone clean the dust off the cardio machines. Overall the prices are fair.

Positive experience: Been training here a year now have to agree with some of the more negative comments, closing at 5 on weekends is ridiculous I’m having to swap pins on machines as one is always missing dumbbells a mess 247 and the same shit music played over and over again, got so much potential to be a top gym good equipment good people friendly staff good location and I have no intention of leaving anytime soon but most definitely needs a few tweaks if the owners take notice of these reviews

Fantastic experience: I have been training here for years and have always been satisfied, recently there have been upgrades made and I love the new ideas. Would definitely recommend training here, the staff are so friendly too

Positive experience: Music is terrible (rap music), toilets are dirty. Good range of equipment. Needs to be 24/7 (opens too late, especially on weekends).

Negative experience: I have been coming to absalute gym for many years now and have seen this gym go from a lovely place to train, to absalute rubbish. The machines and dumbbells are always broken and are for weeks on end. The gym is now flooded with kids and you can’t get a decent session in because they sit in fours on all the machines with tripods out. The weights never get put back where they are meant to be because no one respects the place. IF ANOTHER GYM LIKE THIS WAS LOCAL YOU WOULD LOOSE 40% OF YOUR BUISNESS. The gym already has lost loads of members due to all these factors. Also raising the prices ridiculously but shortening the hours on the weekend is a joke. This gym needs a big reinvestment before someone else moves in and makes this place go into the ground. My honest opinion of what was once a decent place to train

Negative experience: Sent several emails about canceling my membership and have had no response and have been charged again with a late fee as I cancelled the direct debit even though I payed the day I got the email to pay again.

Negative experience: Good equipment. Could invest in more equipment and fix broken equipment quicker. Braintree needs more leg equipment and it’s smith machine fixed. Members are lazy and bring this gym down, never take their plates off, dumbbells never in order and it’s messy especially Chelmsford. Staff don’t reinforce putting weights back. Also have industrial fans on in the winter so it’s freezing. Locations of the gym are good.

Positive experience: The gym has some decent equipment, however usually full of plates people havn’t bothered to take off after sets, dumbbells all over the place. The gym could be a 5 star but the members lack of respect for gym equipment , members and staff drop the score. Also 0 enforcement for people not taking plates off.

Positive experience: Great machines and trainers in there. Somethings take a while to get repaired. Changes to improve, making it 24/7 or earlier opening hours and cleanliness as it's not very clean.

Negative experience: I never see in any gym even if you don’t want to go you have to pay one month fee to stop going to the gym

Negative experience: Couldn't care less about you as a customer. Debited my card twice for £50 (for one month fixed at £50) and I am still waiting for the refund. Not interested in solving the problem. Now I will have to waste my time filing a report with my bank.

Negative experience: Loved the gym, was a member for over a year, would probably have been a member for many years to come. Sadly, got a parking ticket after forgetting to enter my reg one day. I felt like they couldn't have cared less, even though I was in the gym at the time. No help was forth coming and after emailing the manager and receiving no response it's just left a bitter taste. I feel as though if you go 5 times a week, 52 weeks a year, the likelihood is you're going to forget at least once, so it's an extra £100 I am not signing up for if there is no assistance when it happens. My appeal was also eventually successful with POPLA to those who end up in the same situation, but doesn't change how I feel about how the gym handled it.

Positive experience: Good equipment. Only open till 5 on Saturdays. Also full of wannabe influencers with there silly little tripods scattered all over the gym floor.

Negative experience: I've been going to this gym for few years. It has decent equipment however it's absolutely filthy as no one seems to be cleaning the gym throughout the day. Toilets are disgusting so are the changing rooms. Most of the staff are unfriendly and make you feel unwelcome. I left this gym for these reasons and I know a lot of people that also left because of this.

Fantastic experience: This is the best value gym in Chelmsford with a lot of classic equipment which you wouldn’t find in any other modern chain. Staff is friendly and endeavour to solve issues if need to be. There is a free on-site car parking for members. I have been using Chelmsford gym for well over 2 years and hasn’t found any issue.

Negative experience: I cancelled my gym membership due to having a foot operation. My notice finished on the 2nd of the month on the 1st they still took the money for the full month. I emailed the store manager asking seeing as it’s only one day difference and I can’t use the gym due to an operation. She did not have the decency to reply to my email. I will not be recommending this company to family or friends

Atmosphere is amazing, staff are really helpful and the cleanliness of the gym is really good which is important for me.

Fantastic experience: What a Great Gym. They have every conceivable machine as well as loose weights. A great bunch of people. If you want to build muscles and look and feel great, then it’s well worth a visit. I used this place to build up my legs for skiing. Highly recommended.

Negative experience: Gym is excellent but used the car park and one day did not enter my details on there computer after two months of worry now have £100 fine. Use at your own risk.

Negative experience: The gym itself is ok if you like a place full of posers. The front desk staff do get distracted sometimes with their own business rather than attending to the customer. On joining absolutely zero induction. Nothing about process for lockers, parking, equipment use. Very much a work it out yourself kind of place. I decided to cancel as I had covid and was moving and after stopping the direct debit the next say I got an email from the “finance” company that read like a debt collection fining me £15. When I complained / explained to Jessica I was told it’s in the small print. On another note, the boxing bags are rubbish, and the music they play is also rubbish and the TVs have those irritating sub titles with terrestrial TV only. You get what you pay for. £30 a month. Good value if you want to pump iron. But not if you want a good friendly gym.

Negative experience: Disappointing at least. I was waiting at the counter for about 15 minutes while the woman just stood there talking and then was completely uninterested when I tried to sign up. She asked me to fill in a form that wasn’t even needed, to then afterwards not be able to set the membership up. No info on memberships or the fingerprint entrance. No info given on the gym itself (Cardio & changing rooms upstairs). No info given on lockers/keys, which is obvious when someone asks where the changing rooms are. No info given on needing to enter your Reg for parking to avoid a £200 fine. Which has now led to a parking fine. Really badly ran and anyone looking to join I would avoid it. No info given on whether the gym equipment needs cleaning down during covid. I’ve been to a lot of gyms in a lot of different cities, chain and independent gyms and never had a problem like this. I usually look for this type of gym as they have equipment generally not seen in the bigger chain gyms. Overall, I just wanted to pay my money and use the gym. Very bad atmosphere from the staff, and not a good atmosphere to be in if your going to be training 5-6 times a week. Again disappointing when your trying to get back to the gym after covid.

Positive experience: AbSalute has been going for ages and it’s great to see them progress. They were one of the first “commercial” gyms in Essex to buy fairly decent equipment and enough weight for people who enjoy Strongman and Powerlifting training as well as supporting bodybuilding. If you are looking for a fairly decent place to train in Chelmsford check them out. Their prices aren’t too bad either. One thing I will say though is if you need your weights to be calibrated you won’t get that here most of the plates are off the indicated weight some almost by 1kg which might look good for Instagram but it won’t help on meet day also the Bars are utter dog toffee with little to no knurling. That being said if you appreciate AbSalute for what it is “a good all round gym” then you will get what you want. The fellow gym goers are pretty decent people and the environment is welcoming. So defo check them out!!

Negative experience: The gym is great however very disappointed with the sudden stopping of the sports massage .Especially when I turn up to find out all appointments have been cancelled. I had no notification to say it's been cancelled and after leaving my number with staff I was never contacted . Happy to take your money but fail to give back

Fantastic experience: I have been to plenty of different gyms throughout Ireland and England and this one is by far top tier. Not only for facilities, space and equipment but with the staff. I have not had a problem with any of the members and me and my partner will happily give time in our day to chat to everyone. The gym provides plenty of supplements and offers a range of nutrious meals, to support this some of there staff have a superb knowledge of nutrition and the supplements and if a staff member doesn't not know they happily ask another member who may. The changing rooms are clean and lovely and kept to a high standard. This gym has some excellent equipment for all varieties of training, and not just experienced gym goers or bodybuilders. Both the upstairs and downstairs are a great place to start even at the beginning of your weightlifting/fitness journey. I will continue to religiously go to this gym as long as I live in Chelmsford and even after I will most likly pop back!

Fantastic experience: Best gym in town. Excellent facilities and equipment, always clean with friendly helpful staff and a great atmosphere all around. Perfect for newbies or serious gym goers as there's enough equipment and variety upstairs and downstairs. A few reviews on here mention unfriendly or rude staff but I've never once found them to be anything but excellent. The gym offers a nice range of products aswell, from protein shakes and snack bars and hot meals to eat in the dining area, to pre work outs and supplements.

Fantastic experience: This a great gym. It's true gym so there is great equipment and a vast range of it. The locker rooms are clean. It also offers a great range of extras like a restaurant and selection of shakes for pre or post workouts. The staff are amazing and very helpful.

Fantastic experience: Don't pay much attention to the negative comments about this Gym, that may be people's personal preferences. I however found the staff to be exceptional, very helpful and friendly. The Atmosphere is great! As someone pointed out in an earlier comment this gym is targeted at novice-veteran fitness enthusiasts. But don't see that as a downside, I went in detrained and demotivated. Now I'm excited for the time I can go to this gym. It has such a welcoming atmosphere, and the members are really nice people. I wasn't clear on my form and wondered if I was using the equipment correctly so I just asked somebody next to me... He was more than willing to help. I was intimadated (by all the people who were in better shape than me) at 1st, but I soon realised that the people around me are there for the same reason as me and that is to work on their physiques and train as athletes. And it really motivates you to see someone squat twice your weight, that goes with the philosophy that your environment shapes you. Their facilities are great for those who are serious about making some GAINz! There are more than enough squat racks and bench presses to go around and I often find if a machine is being used I can continue another exercise and it's freed up by the time I'm done... Or I could just join the person who's using it. I love the idea that there is a kitchen and that they sell supplements, it encourages the correct nutrition and supplementation. The locker room is never packed, the showers have doors which I feel is a luxury at a gym. Plus they have me a welcome bonus for joining which really made my day. Thanks guys! Fantastic experience: Even though I have membership at another local gym, I use this several times a week as well as it has the best range of kit and I feel more motivated here. The staff have alway been great. I don't understand the negative comments, as they are alway helpful. It is arguably aimed at people who already know what they are doing in the gym but if thats you, its a great place to train, and the shakes and food are tasty at good prices.

Positive experience: i would prefer for the chelmsford branch that the hot steam and sauna be on without the need of going to any staff and telling them to on if for us everytime or they should tell customers how to on and close the sauna and hot steam would be more easier for us

Negative experience: Great gym, great facilities, since last year even the staff customer service level has improved and now i am greeted with smile most of the time which is great. Only bad thing about this gym is, personal trainers like Paul and few others seems to think they run the gym and find it okay to use abusive language at the members who are training on the machine and they have to wait with their client, absolutely pathetic behavior and hope gym owner gets this sorted. This doesn't mean all PT's are like that just few of them.

Negative experience: Awful, just terrible service, if there was any service at all that is. Rude, ignorant staff who are not interested at all in customer care. They don't seem to care or know what is going on. Less than helpful. Never encountered such an unpleasant gym in my whole 20 years of training!!!

The staff are so friendly and never fail to help or assist me with anything I need, the equipment is always in such good condition and also whenever I go in there the place is always spotless! I have reccomended to all of my friends :)

Negative experience: Great gym equipment. Shame about the ignorant staff. Terrible service on an almost daily basis. They are always rude and reluctant to help, never greet you with a smile and act like they don't have time for you. I've even had them roll their eyes when asked to fill my water bottle, they're too busy eating, talking to other members of staff or on their phones. (The only way to fill your bottle is to have them do it for you here.) Also, the tap water is always warm. The complete opposite of what you need during a workout!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym and great value. Initially it might look intimidating, but there's something for everyone - upstairs is good for non-body builders and newbies alike, there are plenty of machines and a plenty of mat space for HIIT and stretching too. Changing rooms are clean and spacious. Car park is a bit small but I can usually get a space - plus you can get away with parking on the single yellows before 8am and after 6pm. Also, the manager is great - he listens when you have a suggestion and makes it happen!

Negative experience: Received £200 Parking fine from this gym because they introduced a new system into the car park that was NOT made clear enough by the people that run the place. 'Absolute Joke' is a better name for this gym, I will not be renewing my membership when it expires shortly. Disgraceful behaviour that they think its ok to treat their members in such a disrespectful manner.

Positive experience: Spending more time waiting for the fingerprint reader to open the barriers than working out. Get this sorted!! Great equipment but very busy. Music is a tad too loud I can barely chat to my training partner.

Fantastic experience: I've been to Ab Salute gym on many occasions and have never noticed any of the problems recently commented on. The ample car park is busy but then who wants to go to an empty gym? The receptionists (usually more than one on duty BTW) too are busy and may not always have time to stop for a gossip but they are always courteous and helpful. I have used Greg, the sport masseur there and he is excellent, thoroughly recommend. Found my problem quickly, gave me some good easy to do exercises and even lent me a book on another problem I have. The gym is superb

Fantastic experience: Can't speak highly enough about the facilities and staff. I get the feeling that certain other negative reviewers may have a hidden agenda. Check it out for yourself.

Negative experience: The worst gym that I've ever been to in 30 years of training. The receptionist is downright rude, the changing rooms far too small and the showers run for no more than 10 seconds without turning themselves off. Town centre location with hardly any parking. Don't bother going.

Negative experience: Good equipment but staff are arrogant, rude, unwelcoming. Can have a great workout but put off because of staff !
