Fantastic experience: Great friendly atmosphere and Mary and the team are fantastic ! I have been a member for a number of years and now booked a number of sessions with Robin the personal trainer who is superb ! It might not be the most modern of gyms but everything is there for a full body workout,cardio exercise and the pool

Fantastic experience: I have been a member for over 20 years and seen lots of changes in that time. I think the current Manager, Mary is doing a great job in balancing the conflicting needs of the classes, the pool and general gym all at a great price. She deserves a lot of credit for the cheerful and diplomatic way she performs this role.

Negative experience: The reason I only give two stars is because of the awful attitude of the manager of this branch. I will just add everyone else is lovely, helpful and extremely welcoming but it only takes that one person to let the whole place down. My son is now reluctant to come back due to her attitude and how rude she was. This was not only to myself snd my son but another lady entering the building.

Positive experience: Been a member for a while now, great gym, good classes and great pool. Staff have always been friendly n helpful until recently. I experienced something really upsetting. Manager Mary shouting and screaming at a young boy with his mum,while also shouting at a lady who didnt scan in....this was absolutely disgusting!

Positive experience: Needs to be cleaner and have more and better equipment

Negative experience: Pool was so unhygienic it made me ill multiple times. I informed the management and they simply denied it. Badly run and terrible customer service. AVOID

Fantastic experience: Fantastic little gym, has eveything you need. It's not the most state of the art but eveything works. The staff are friendly and helpful and a good variety of classes. I spend most of my time in the free weights and it's always a great workout.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, pool, sauna, and steam room for an ever greater price! Yes it's not super modern but it has everything you need. It will be a shame to see it go.

Negative experience: Just cancelled my membership today. Yesterday morning as I entered the gym, the manager Mary falsely and loudly accused me of hitting her car with my car door. She was extremely rude and unprofessional, confronting me in the reception area. She refused to come out to see if any damage had been done (obviously none was as I hadn’t touched her car). When I said I now felt unwelcome attending the gym and wanted to revoke my membership her response was ‘ok have a great day’. I had enjoyed my time as a member of the gym but I would not feel comfortable returning while Mary is still employed there.

Negative experience: Lots of great space but the music is sooh loud. What about designated quiet times? Also not always a comprehensive selection of weights available. Even at quiet times.

Fantastic experience: Want to say a huge thank you for helping hubby over the Christmas break to train with me. Sorted us out with a pass and was so helpful. I love this gym, the facilities the location and the general atmosphere. The staff are great, and so helpful thanks Paul and your team.

Fantastic experience: Affordable gym! Good size swimming pool, good changing rooms with hair dryers, good sauna and steam room, good showers (for a gym) and a great sized gym with lots of cardio and free weights! Definitely worth £20 a month!

Positive experience: It is the cheapest gym in town, so you get what you pay for. The facilities are ok, I can only speak for the pool which is nice and quiet at 8am.

Fantastic experience: Gym has all the things need for a good workout, it is very packed at times but it is what happens when you run a good gym.

Positive experience: Nice staff, very clean however at times it gets a bit too busy, atmosphere is good but I’ve struggled to get a good session in at times due to having to wait around for benches and other equipment to be available

Fantastic experience: Great value gym. Facilities are well kept. Only criticism is that it can get very busy and you may have to wait for a little while to use some of the machines, including treadmills. But I think that's testament to how good the place is that it gets so many customers.

Positive experience: Pool was cold but told it had just been refilled. Shame you have to walk through the gym to get to the pool..

Positive experience: I love the gym and the staff is nice, lots of equipment and good range of classes. -1 star for the fact that when i started i was promised an introduction and they will call me to set it up, 2 weeks later still haven't heard from them. The showers are a bit high and don't make me feel all clean as i can't rinse some parts of my body that well, so i still end up showering home afterwards

Positive experience: Good facilities, helpful staff. Terms of contract and specifically cancellation is quite outrageous - 3 full months notice required. Beware!!

Negative experience: 4 treadmills constantly out of action, air con that makes noise but doesn't work, the slowest drinks fountain in the world. You get what you pay for I guess.

Fantastic experience: **** PROTEIN DRINKSSSSS :D I haven’t got time to read all the other reviews! but from now onwards it really is great. I was in the area on a business course and just wanted a gym for this evening rang around Bury and struggled to find a decent place with a high range of free weights to suit my needs I mean literally called another gym asked if they take card and do they serve protein shakes them women said you can get protein from the shop and hung up haha nice one talk about customer service but on the other hand Sports Direct Gym has outstanding customer service and I thought let’s give it a shot I’m hungry to train lol anyway I got walm welcome their gym is regular-largely sized and modern with everything you’ll need to train in and they have a wide variety of refreshment/recovery shakes. Now whilst reading this you could think this person may have been paid to write a extensive rewiew about this place with nothing but Excellent benifits and features but I could not give a damn what you think I’m telling you my experience from visiting this gym on 21/02/2018 and it was a rather decent place to train if you don’t believe me go and find out for yourself you won’t be disappointed they also have a medium sized swimming pool which I couldn’t help but notice with the blue neons throughout the water I hope this helped you with choosing a gym happy training my fellow gym freaks ahahhahahaa ;)

Positive experience: Decent gym, good mix of free weights and machines. Good classes, swimming pool, sauna and spin room. However if something breaks, don't expect it to be fixed for many weeks. No air conditioning or even ventilation in the changing rooms during the hottest period of the year... The showers are also barely adequate, no control over the temperature and each cubicle is a different temperature. The place is however well cleaned.

Positive experience: Showers once again not working , when they are they are always cold, plus I can smell the drains a lot , no where to put your toiletries so u put them in the floor, needs doors and shelving inside the cubicle. At times the machines don't work even basic things like displays on rowing machines !!! ... needs an overhaul !!!!

Positive experience: Friendly staff. Generally quite clean. Rowing machines are in a state of disrepair. Reasonable opening hours and quite a reasonable rate for membership given the availability of a pool (compared to other gym memberships)
