Positive experience: Driving range is great with the screens and drinks area but why is there only option for large set of balls. Would like to use as warm up before 18 but dont have the time to go through 100 balls before going on the course plus ends up costing loads as well.

Positive experience: They pair you up with strangers if you are not a 4 ball, when they realise it's a 5 ball and ask you if you can tee off early (as you got there early) they then charge you more for playing at the earlier peek time.

Negative experience: Do not become a member here! I signed up on 29/09/23 on a 12 month membership and after I have completed the 12 months I went to request that my membership not renew. I was told that I still had until May until I could cancel because the club run memberships May to May and as a result I still owed the club company over £500. At no point was I made aware of this until I tried to cancel. And this is not consistent with all membership types. The general manager Chris was extremely rude calling me a lier and insinuating that I knew this and was just trying to cancel. I was offered a bucket of range balls as compensation but offering someone £13 but holding them to ransom for £500 is in my opinion very insulting. You cannot get tee times on the weekend as it is always booked and even when you do manage to get a tee time other people are allowed to book on it so you can never just play a round as you like. The gym facilities are sub par at best with the plunge pool out of order most of the time and the changing rooms not kept to a clean standard. I have been a member here on multiple occasions since I was a child and never have I been so disappointed with the treatment of members. Absolute joke do not join!
Good morning Daniel. As explained in our response to your previous Google review, all our membership terms and conditions are clearly explained to you on sign up and your membership is not activated until you sign these terms and conditions. The very first line of your signed agreement states 'Golf membership is an initial commitment from the date of joining until the 1st May 2024 and annually thereafter.' By signing these terms, you are showing that you have fully read, understood and agreed to these terms. In regards to your comments about weekend tee times, all members have the same booking rights. No members get any preferential treatment, and everyone gets the same amount of time to book. We opened up the tee sheets a few months ago and circulated this to all members. This was to allow people to book on to any open tee time to prevent the high number of single ball rounds we had, with many of these not showing up and therefore stopping others playing when they could have. It has also allowed people to meet other golfers and form new friendships and playing partners. It is great to see, however, that you have managed to get a round in on average more than once a week since your membership renewed on May 1st, with half of your rounds being at the weekend. The gym has the latest TechnoGym equipment which is one of the best gym equipment manufacturers in the industry. We have had some issues with the Spa Pool lately and, as a complicated piece of technology, we are sure you can understand that sometimes things can go wrong. We have had to temporarily close the spa on a few occasions down to users entering the spa pool without showering, causing abnormal chemical readings. We have replaced the probes and have not had any issues lately. We take the health and wellbeing of our members very seriously and follow safety guidelines which advise to close the spa pool when readings are outside or the recommended parameters. We have always acted as quickly as possible when this has happened to minimise disruption to our members. We have recently added a new state-of-the-art TechnoGym body analysis machine. As you haven't used the gym facilities for a while, we would love to invite you in for a re-introduction to the gym comprising of a full body analysis along with a personal induction and gym programme with one of our wonderful wellness coaches. Positive experience: Hi This is not a complaint Please calm down the music. It's like disco, extra loud all the time and I can hear it inside the sauna & steam rooms. As well as loud in the Changing room. I use the spa to relax and to reduce my tinnitus.. Instead the loud music makes me feel frustrated, agitated, irritated, uncomfortable. I cannot Concentrate on breathing tecnique to relax, and my tinnitus gets more louder. Few times I had to come out of the sauna & steam rooms to run the jacuzzi, just to mask the loud music. Few times I had to leave the spa earlier than I had planned because the loud music is unbearable. I don't use the gym anymore because of the same issue. The music is so loud that I can hear it loud and clear through my noise cancelling head phone, making my tinnitus worst. Please kindly " DECREASE THE VOLUME, DO NOT PLAY LOUD MUSIC" at the gym Thanks Reem

Negative experience: The course is in beautiful condition having played 3 times in 8 days. The problem is the throw a 6 to start prices for a guest playing with a member. I paid £37.50 last week, £30.00 yesterday and was told £45.00 today. Either the staff are inept, on commission for ripping off people or just don't know the green fee rates. Thanks for your response John But I teed off at 8.18,8.32 and 8.40.I can't believe your dynamic prices are that volatile. How much is the most expensive midweek tee off time with and without a member? And what time is it ? I would love to know
Hi Richard. The prices also vary depending on whether you play from Monday to Thursday which is classed as 'Weekday Rates' or from Friday to Sunday which is classed as 'Weekend Rates'. It looks like your first review was left on a Friday which would be why you were quoted a higher rate than the previous day. The majority of golf courses will have higher rates to play at the weekend. Booking directly through our website will show you the rates payable at the applicable times and as already expressed, these will be the best rates available to you. Positive experience: I played the par 3 Golf course very nice little course. Massively expensive £18 very disappointed with the price. I would highly recommends visiting Wheathampstead Golf course, Aldwickbury Park Golf Club or even redbourn golf course much better value if you want to do a short course

Negative experience: I recently left a bad review about the lack of hot water, after weeks of everyone complaining, they finally shelled out for a new boiler rectifying the situation. So i removed my review.. But i alao mentioned the lack of hygiene. This has now reached fully unacceptabe standards. There is now some sort of worm infestation in the steam room, this is the last straw. This is a £56 a month gym, which tries to portray itself as a premium health club.. it is far from it.. I think my pictures tell the story.. Not only the worms, the spa is filthy, the showers are filthy, changing area and toilets are all disgusting. They just dont clean, we hardly ever see a cleaner and it shows.. Blood on walls for ages, mould, broken ceramic tiles ready to slice your ankle. Iv had enough, they just dont care about the members, as long as we keep paying the membership, nothing will happen.. i know alot of people have left already.. This is a shame as the gym people are great, the location is great, its all just let down by bad management and obvious cost cutting... Edit... since this the new manager has done lots to fix everything and improve cleanliness..

Negative experience: Groundsmen are rude and show no respect! Mainly aimed towards Richard, who we have been told receives many complaints, but continues to harass us. Unfortunately, he is not the only problem as his fellow younger, arrogant colleague also feels the need to disturb our round(s). Many times have we seen them staring; blatantly ridiculing us. Unnecessary and unprofessional. Will most definitely be cancelling my membership at the end of the month. Was a peaceful 18 holes too much to ask for?
Negative experience: These people are absolutely disgusting. Following a car accident my daughter contacted this place to cancel her membership as the car accident completely changed her financial situation, over night. She had already paid for the month she was in and didn't attend the gym from the day she cancelled. Despite making the club aware of her new financial situation, they still insisted she paid a months notice. They have now passed this to a collections company who are threatening legal action. Unethical, greedy and obviously desperate for money.... I couldn't leave a zero star rating ..................................................

Negative experience: We arrived for our mother's day lunch, but they messed up our booking and hadn't set up for us. We felt like we were being an inconvenience so got a refund and left. It looked nice though.

Negative experience: Unreliable - too many times I’ve made the effort to come all the way down only to be told that today because of some reason they are opening several hours later than normal. How does that help me once I’m there? I can’t book a bay like you can at other places. If every slight weather condition affects you from having enough balls then just get some more. I won’t risk coming here again not worth it

We have to open the range at certain times a bit late than usual for the safety of our hard working colleagues that are hand picking. Negative experience: Don't bother joining for the heath membership (gym and spa). I joined for the spa facilities however its a waste of money because it is always half broken and regularly closed due to hot water issues or faulty parts. Really disappointed. If you join, use the monthly membership so you can leave! The place is a joke.

Negative experience: The driving range keeps it's lights on all night when it closes at 22:00 and can be seen from miles away. Turn your lights off to save energy and stop your unnecessary light pollution

Positive experience: Went to the range. Staff at reception are a complete credit to the place, always very welcoming and helpful. Would go more often but I can't really justify it after the recent price hikes. I know they have Top Tracer, but I don't use that...just want to hit a few buckets to keep my eye in. Facilities are always clean and the place has a nice buzz about it.

Positive experience: The greens were good, but a bit patchy on some of the fairways. The course was dry and no muddy patches like some played recently. One thing that I think could be improved is the tee numbering and direction signs from green to tee.

Negative experience: Went for lunch with my Husband on Friday and both had a cheese and ham omelette. It was hard to find the few little bits of ham and cheese, it was tasteless. Salad was a few green leaves with 3 bits of cucumber with lots of salad dressing. Where was the red onion and at least 1/2 a tomato? Talk about cut backs and price increases. Won't be ordering that again ☹

Negative experience: Just had small breakfast here. Sausage and bacon were obviously cooked yesterday, dry and leathery, plates were cold, coffee was very bitter. Reputation is good but this experience was definitely not!

Negative experience: I joined this gym a year ago , from the start there was something wrong with the spa ! Once sauna doesn’t work day after jacuzzi doesn’t work, the steam room always smells like fish ! Once i saw vomit in the steam room which i had to ask them to come and clean up , i have never seen a cleaner in the spa or male changing room , during the day like you always do in other gyms , the male changing room is always wet and disgusting! They had water blockage in the showers for more than a week ! Again i had to record it with my phone and proof it to them so they can sort it out ! Last month the jacuzzi is not been working at all , I asked them to terminate my membership which is only two months left to be finished! They refused and said you need have a proper reason, income change or relocating! I did mention all the problems i had with this gym but it looks like they haven’t even heard me , doesn’t matter I will pay two more months and im not going to use it as still the jacuzzi is not working. but people please avoid this place.

It is a shame that you felt the need to make these comments following our conversation here at the club where I discussed a couple of your points with you. I understand and share your frustration when facilities are unavailable however as explained these are not easy solutions to be fixed and subsequently following signficant investment all our Spa facilities are now fully operational and as soon as physically possible. If any cleanliness situation is brought to our attention it is rectified by our team and for your assurance there is also a clean team that do in fact clean the whole building overnight. I genuinely thank you for your comments as it does highlight areas that we may need to improve on. I hope you get to use the facilities over the reamining couple of months of your membership and recognise the hard work plus the nearly £1 million investment that has gone in to our Health Club, making it a Health facilities that our member enjoy. Negative experience: Avoid eating here. Lovely facilities and good views but the one star is for the quality of food. I had dinner here today and it tasted all frozen and the meat was very low quality. The fact no one came up to us to ask how the food was and waited for us to leave to take the plates, shows that even the staff think the same.

Fantastic experience: Visited the health club on recommendation from a friend with a day pass, somehow lost the pass on route, however the lady on reception was very accommodating and let me use the facilities very kind . Hydro pool was fantastic and great sauna and steam room highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Went to a funeral reception here and was very impressed. There must have been about 100 guests but everything ran very smoothly from the first arrival with tea/coffee etc to a lovely meal. This had both the elements of an afternoon tea and a full blown hot meal for those who preferred. Seemed like all tastes were catered for. We also had exclusive use of a bar. The occasion was well staffed and the staff themselves were all friendly and helpful. The bereaved family must have been very pleased. Personally I have never been here before but would happily return.

Positive experience: Nice smart golf club with plenty of free parking. We went to the driving range, nice facility, well lit. £11 for 100 balls, nice shot tracking cameras make it more fun too. There is a bar as part of the driving range and they deliver to your bay which is great.

Fantastic experience: Course in great condition, bar and reception area refurbished, looks really great. Had a delicious Mexican Vegetable Wrap.
Fantastic experience: After many years of not playing, did 100 balls at the range. Hi-Tech ball tracker informs you where your ball went, as long as you give the ball some elevation. Staff really a nice bunch. Had nice lunch and a pint, then played the gentle 9 hole par 3 course. Very enjoyable and would definately recommend it if you're new to golf, or getting back into the "swing" of things ..

Positive experience: We played on monday 6th september and boy was it hot . We had drunk our water by the 13th hole. There is no water fountain on the course but to the rescue came the course marshall John who brought us iced water..what a star. Just wished the meal served was better . Such a disappointment.

The greens have been running slower as they were treated and topdressed earlier this month, however we are expecting them to be in mint condition by early August, so you should see an immediate improvement. Positive experience: Course in good condition. Greens receptive. Unfortunately round was slightly spoilt by a rowedy four ball in Buggies holding everyone up and shouting at the tops of there voices. No idea about etiquette or thought for other people on the course.
Negative experience: Unfortunately the food at the clubhouse is not good. We were not given the correct order and the "spicy chicken burger" had no spices on it and there was way too much chicken plonked between the bun. There was water dripping constantly from the lettuce/bread and the beef burger was very dry. The chili and lime avocado smash had no lime on it and was basically tasteless. Sorry to give such a bad review but this needs to be said. I hope others have a better experience. I can safely say I will not be eating there again.

Positive experience: Pretty good course with some challenging holes. The facilities are good. The par 3 is good fun and the 18 has a good variation on holes. The reason the score isn't higher, is that unfortunately there is a pompousness, pretentiousness and arrogance of many people playing the course and some of the staff members. Even in the par 3. Often you will find players who refuse to let others play through despite a slow pace of play. Marshalls do what they can and I commend. However it isn't the friendliess place to play. Great club house, great bar, good pro shop.
Thank you for taking the time to review our club. I'm delighted to read you enjoyed both of our courses, clubhouse and pro shop. Speed of play has been a focus of ours since restrictions were lifted on golf toward the start of the season and we have received positive comments for the work we have done to combat the issue. This is however an ongoing challenge and comments such as yours show us we still have work to do in resolving the issue entirely. Whilst we have Marshall's paroling the course daily, we encourage anyone who feels that the speed of play has dropped below an acceptable standard to call the clubhouse, and a manager will be sent out to investigate further. Your comments regarding undesirable characters using our facilities are disappointing to read. We endeavour to create a welcoming environment for all guests whether it is their first visit to the club or they are a one of our many regulars. Very rarely do we encounter individuals who are not welcome at our club, however should a guest display any form of anti-social behaviour we will ask them to leave. Negative experience: I have recently signed up to become a member and have really enjoyed the classes and the gym. Staff are super helpful and place that I enjoy spending my time. For the first time my husband and I decided to stop for a coffee after a workout on Sunday 13th June in the restaurant. I have to say I was so disappointed.when we arrived nobody acknowledged us even though we were sat at the table right by the bar. There were 4 staff wondering around. One lady heard me ask my husband if I need to order at the bar or if orders are taken at the table so she said that a staff member will take our order. Not one staff member acknowledged us or said they will be with us shortly. They passed us so many times and totally blanked us. The health club is such a lovely place and I am so pleased to be a member but the bar staff are really letting it down. A staff member from the gym walked in not long after us and his ordering was taken straight away. My husband and I walked out without ordering and to be honest I don’t think I will be back to eat or drink there. I have £40 on my membership card from referrals that I have made and I think it’s just going to sit there and not be used because I really don’t want to feel like I did on Sunday again….. totally ignored!!!!

Negative experience: Good facility but service seriously slow for a well established business. I went in to order a burger and I was told to wait outside for him to take my order. 10 minutes later, still noone came so we left. Bad experience on that occasion

Positive experience: The club is great....I enjoy being a member here. But I must say the range balls are so over priced it’s unreal. £11 for 100 balls. I really do think that’s an absolute rip off. £5 for 100 balls would he perfect. It’s literally just a way to scrape every single penny they possibly can get from Your bank card. They don’t want £10 they want £11 lol and for members it’s £10 Would love to hear hit 200/300 balls and get some real practise in but we are taking £30 just to do that. Wow.

As I am sure you are aware, the driving range has recently undergone over £100,000 of investment and now includes TopTracer to support your practice this addition to the range includes an activity that allows you to distance check all your clubs so you can pin down the yardages for each of your clubs amongst over fantastic challenges and games. This is a great advantage to the previous set up, the entire experience has now been enhanced with brand new golf balls, matts, targets, food, and drink option all for a minimal increase on the previous pricing. As a member you do receive 10% extra credit when using your membership card as part of your membership benefits. I do hope you continue to use the driving range at the club to get your practice in and benefit from the changes that have been made to improve both the experience of using the range and your game as a result. Should you wish us to go through all the different options of use and show you how it could improve your game out on the course, we would be more than happy to take you through it all.
