Fantastic experience: Felt well treated, loved the Christmas decorations and the staff was ready to answer any questions I had.

Negative experience: Don’t consider dining here with any allergens!

Positive experience: At a birthday party 2 weeks ago and the main food came out of the kitchen by the time they brought out the sides some had there food ate or went freezing

Fantastic experience: It was my first time visiting Armagh, and i was so pleasantly surprised. I don't know what I was expecting, but arriving at the hotel was a great way to start it. I was warmly received, checkin was easy, and my room was modern, comfortable (a little warm for my taste, but easy to turn off the radiator). I stayed three nights, while in town for a music festival. Breakfast was fairly standard (the self-serve fried kind), but fine. The hotel has an attached conference center, and in addition to concerts for the music festival, there appeared to be other events happening there at the same time, though the only way you'd know was when you passed the open doors - there was no bleed-through of sound from one to the other, and plenty of room for everyone. Booking my room was easy online, but changing it was a little odd: they wouldn't do it over the phone, they said I had to email them. But that said, they did exactly what I asked (dropped a fourth night, close to the 48hour cancellation window), and changed my booking from two guests to one (which made a difference in the bed-and-breakfast rate), got it right first time, and sent me a confirmation by email within a couple of hours. All-in-all, 10/10 would recommend.

Fantastic experience: Wow! Gorgeous hotel. Friendly, welcoming staff. We did the Friday Night Supper club, and it was 10/10! The food was the best we’ve ever had, and the staff were amazing, so attentive and polite. The restaurant manager deserves a raise, she is top class! We are staying for two nights and this is our review after just being here a couple of hours, incredible.

Fantastic experience: Armagh City Hotel is 5*****My Husband and I had an overnight break. The meal in the restaurant was absolutely gorgeous. The bedroom was beautiful clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. We had a really enjoyable stay. The Reception Housekeeping and Serving staff deserve praise for the excellent customer service. The evening entertainment was presented by Cher & Meatloaf tribute acts it was spectacular!!! If you want to visit the Armagh City Hotel you won't be disappointed. Thankyou.

Fantastic experience: Down for the tribute night. From second arrived the place had a really nice vibe. Not corporate but rather welcoming relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Also good to see sufficient staff to be available on such a busy night. Always nice to be served swiftly and get back to the music. Couldn't fault the place at all.

Fantastic experience: Had a lovely stay in Armagh City Hotel. Stayed in room 224 which has a great view of both cathedrals and the city. Located right beside the demense which is gorgeous for a walk around. Loads of parking available. Great base for visiting the area. Staff were all lovely. Huge outdoor seating area. Good selection for breakfast.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely incredible wee stay. The staff are very attentive and very efficient. I wasn't at the bar any more than 2 mins waiting for a drink. The atmosphere is very friendly and the food is fantastic.

Positive experience: Food was really disappointing. Quality of food has slipped badly. Both in preparation and quality of ingredients used. Service was ok.but had to request service on a number of occasions. Used to really love the pud grub here. Very disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Another great stay with amazing staff, especially Petcha, who went over and above to help us with an issue that arose. We absolutely love staying at the Armagh City Hotel and we are made to feel welcome every time we go. The dinner was lovely and the breakfast, as usual, was outstanding. We are looking forward to our next stay.

Positive experience: Rooms were comfortable and staff very friendly and helpful. A negative point was the quality of the food, which was generally poor. The worst aspect of the visit was a fight in our corridor in the middle of the night. Guests at a wedding party decided to kick the stuffing out of each other, and there was literally blood on the corridor walls and carpets in the morning. It seems the hotel does a trade in stag parties and weddings - please bear this in mind before you book and it might be worth asking to be located on a floor away from the "revelers".

Positive experience: Really liked this place and the fact i arrived here the evening armagh won the all ireland only added to the atmosphere .very friendly ,couldn t do enough for you ,food very high quality ,definately will think about a return visit here

Positive experience: This hotel was a good choice for 1 night away. The staff are professional and helpful. The dinner we had at the bar was really tasty. We were charged the room fee at check in but the next day there was an extra charge - the lady at reception could not explain why we weren’t charged this at check in. The bar had live music until midnight and our room was right above the bar - so we didn’t fall asleep until a bit late. The staff at breakfast were not as friendly as the place looked very busy.

Fantastic experience: We recently had the pleasure of experiencing a 90-minute massage with Jane, and it was truly one of the best spa treatments I've ever had. From the moment I walked in, Jane made me feel incredibly comfortable and at ease. Her warm and welcoming demeanor instantly put me in a state of relaxation. The massage itself was absolutely amazing. Jane has an incredible touch and clearly knows how to work out every knot and tension point. I could feel the stress melting away as she expertly massaged each area. The combination of her skillful hands and the soothing environment made for an unbelievably relaxing experience. But what truly set this session apart was the use of the ion machine. I had never tried anything like it before, and I was amazed by the results. The ion machine lifted my face skin noticeably, giving me a refreshed and rejuvenated look. Jane explained the process to me and ensured I was comfortable throughout the treatment. The results were immediate and impressive, leaving my skin looking tighter and more youthful. Jane is not only incredibly talented but also a genuinely amazing lady. She is attentive, caring, and truly dedicated to ensuring her clients have the best experience possible. Her attention to detail and personalized approach made me feel valued and cared for. The entire experience was so comfortable and relaxing, I didn’t want it to end. If you're looking for a top-notch massage that will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, I cannot recommend Jane highly enough. Her 90-minute massage, combined with the ion machine, is a game-changer. I left feeling like a new person, with lifted and refreshed skin, and a deep sense of relaxation. Jane is truly a gem, and I can’t wait for my next visit!

Fantastic experience: I can't rate the rooms as we only went for breakfast. The breakfast was excellent,there was lots of choice, hot breakfast or continental,the staff were very helpful and friendly, and the price was very reasonable £12.00

Positive experience: Outside of rooms, since I have not yet stayed in one, it has a great cafe/restaurant, with good service and friendly staff. It is a great place to meet with friends and colleagues over good quality coffee, tea and pastries. Very spacious indoor and outdoor seating.

Positive experience: We had several meals in the bar over the years and were always impressed with the food and service, so we decided to stay a night, the room was very clean and the bed very comfortable with great pillows. The bathroom is also good with a good shower. I dropped room 1 star due to no air-conditioning. Due to global warming, hotels in this part of the world will need to invest in air-conditioning. P.S. the club sandwich in the cafe is something else.

Negative experience: We booked a Superior room and it quotes on the website “some have a balcony with views overlooking Armagh Golf Club, whilst others boast floor to ceiling windows”. We went in and asked instantly if we could have the balcony, which was clearly not booked at the time. The receptionist told us we would have to pay extra for a balcony! Even though it says on their website it’s included with the Superior room! Room was unbearably hot with two very small windows that wouldn’t stay open with a light breeze, no air conditioning and not a fan in sight. They sat us at the front of the building on a main road, tractors keeping us up all night. We had the windows closed even though it was roasting hot, and we could still hear everything outside! There was a man doing maintenance work on the hedges, from 9 in the morning until 1 o’clock! The breakfast was basic and the sausages were so overly peppered I couldn’t eat them. They charge £4 a head to get breakfast delivered to the room. Next morning, there was a coach outside for ages with its engine on. Then alarm went off waking us up at 6:50! I will never stay here again. Worst experience. I went here to get peace, and ended up leaving even more stressed. Not worth £324 for this room at all.

Fantastic experience: The hotel is very nice. The staff are extremely nice and friendly! The best hotel I have visited in a while, I feel at home here. I mixed up my checkout day, they were more concerned about my safety than my luggage in the room. It was easy to extend my reservation.

Positive experience: Rooms were very good, just that they did not have air conditioning. For someone coming from US, this was unusual but not that it was a negative. I did miss refrigerator that I am used to in any hotels at home. Very good restaurants on premises and great bar. Free breakfast that was offered as buffet but there was option for your custom order as well. Overall great location, service and food. Will definitely visit again.

Positive experience: Went for afternoon tea. The food was very nice, as were the staff. It was, however very busy. Staff were rushed off their feet as there was a conference on and the service was not great because of this. Again, the staff were lovely - this is obviously a management issue. Would happily go back again though.

Negative experience: Not one to leave many reviews but... I have been using the fitness facilities here the last year.. I use day pass at different centres as membership doesn't suit me due to location and my work I dont think the gym equipment has been updated in 15+ years here Several pieces of equipment out of order.. Much more than the average gym The sauna has incredibly bright lighting for how it's actually supposed to be and also the sauna doesn't currently have a proper door.. which should have been replaced last year when it was faulty. The plunge pool is a small bath that is rarely actually cold.. And also really needs cleaned more frequently.. The shower next to the sauna resembles a garden hose on the least desirable setting to stand under The day pass price was increased by another 25% to £10... Quite disappointed..

Positive experience: good hotel, but if you stay make sure your rooms at the back as the front is noisy and bright with spotlights pointed at your windows

Negative experience: Very hit and miss with this hotel at the best of times. This week we booked a table for 14 people and pre ordered food from the deli menu. When we arrived the deli the staff had forgotten to reserve/set up table for us, forgot to start the pre order and made mistakes on nearly half of our orders. We should have had our food by 12pm and at 12:50pm we were still waiting on our final meal. The most disappointing part was the attitude of the deli staff. They sent the bar man to apologise after the meal even though nothing was his fault. We were treated as a complete inconvenience to the deli even when we had made the booking well in advance. We will not be having any staff functions here again.

Positive experience: I'm posting from previous stays. On this occasion just used the gym. It's been a while since I was there but it now looks and feels really dated with rusty machines and worn out weights. CV machines badly out of date. At £8 to use you'd hope for better.

Fantastic experience: Unfortunately jacuzzi and steam room were out of order which was very disappointing. Pool is very small especially when half of it is closed off for swimming lessons

Negative experience: I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Horrible customer service was screamed at down the phone by reservations. Had to cancel due to partner's disability and absolutely no empathy from the hotel at all. Called ahead to cancel and was assured and promised that I could cancel for free. I even asked the woman to double check for me that I would not be charged for the room. She said "no don't worry we wouldn't do that." A month later they charged my bank £140. Called to find out what was going on only to be shouted at down the phone by reservations department "you will not be getting a refund!" I was promised call backs from a manager and never received them. Had they have been honest and told me that I could not cancel for free I would have stayed by myself anyway instead of just throwing £140 at them for absolutely nothing.

Positive experience: Nice hotel great breakfast let down by an infestation of flies, with no airconditioning you cannot close the windows in the summer. Given a broken fan spent the evening waging war on the fly airforce.

Positive experience: Nice hotel in the middle of the city. Had food in the bar v good, and the staff friendly and helpful. There is a pool although a little small.

Negative experience: Awful hotel, rude staff who refused to allow us to switch rooms even though they weren't fully booked. Food wasn't nice and restaurant staff left me sitting there for over 30 minutes before taking my order but they went ahead and took someone else's order before mine after they had just walked in.

Fantastic experience: I stayed at the Armagh City Hotel as it allowed me easy driving to the Jonesboro Drumintee area as well as Belfast, Giants Causeway, Tynan Abbey, Benburb Priory, Naven Fort. I was very lucky to have met wonderful people on a zoom call and they went out of their way to make me feel like an old friend. I'm hoping to return in the spring of 2024 for at least two weeks and hope to stay again at City Hotel.

Fantastic experience: I wish to inform the manager of the Reception staff, that I had very good experiences on both Friday last and two further occasions today. On both times I was assisted by one of your staff members called Ashleigh. She was very patient, helpful and Knowledgeable in all aspects of the information I required. R S M

Positive experience: Lamb dinner was absolutely gorgeous, the staff are very welcoming and friendly. The desert was £8 a little pricey to me.

Negative experience: Really wouldn’t recommend and most definitely will not be back. We arrived and went up to our room to find it unbearably hot. We had a 3 month old baby with us so we had our thermometer with us to check the room was ok for baby. The room was 26 when we arrived and kept increasing overtime. My husband went down to reception to ask for a fan and was at first told there were no fans. After asking again he was told they would look for one. He asked if there were any other available rooms for us to move to. Advised there was a room with a balcony but ‘wasn’t the rate we had paid’. We understand this but the attitude and lack of consideration was not needed. We would have paid for this room but this wasn’t an option for some reason. We went back up to the room and a fan was given but this just blew warm air around the room so we decided to check out later that night and travel back home due to safety concerns with our baby as the room temperature had increased further. When checking out I was told we could have had room with balcony. I relayed the information we were told earlier in the day that apparently we couldn’t have this room due to the rate and was told very abruptly that we should have came down and asked again as they can’t sell the room after a certain time. How were we supposed to know this if not told? The whole service was shocking from start to finish and we most certainly will advise any family/friends to not visit this hotel unless they want terrible customer service.

Negative experience: Brought my disabled mum to this place today for a meal unfortunaly we were unable to park in the disabled bays as they were taken up with non badge holders too lazy to walk . checked the 4 cars to the left of the front door and only 1 of the 4 had a disabled blue badge so we struggled to get into the place and informed the staff member on reception whom claimed that she would deal with it however she did nothing as on the way out from the meal over 1 hour later and all the cars involved were still parked there . Very unprofessional from the staff and for 3 of the 4 disabled spots to be taken up by non blue badge holders its clear that the people whom parked there did so with the mindset that the hotel staff would do nothing and how right they were . This hotel should be renamed to Anti Disabled Armagh City Hotel ./

Fantastic experience: If anything was negative it would be the noise of traffic in the front rooms. We had the windows open so thats our fault. As for everything else. Fantastic. We'll worth stopping here as a base or work place. Food is amazing and there is Guinness Zero 0.0 on draft. Very nice place to stay.

Fantastic experience: Clean tidy and well presented rooms with a modern feel. Breakfast was lovely! Pool facilities are gym are exceptional, steam room was out of order which was slightly annoying as was being unable to use pool due to swimming lessons! Will hopefully stay again though!

Fantastic experience: Only stayed here briefly overnight but the service was great in the morning for breakfast. The room was nice and the bed was very large, great for a short stay. We also borrowed an iron from reception which was easy. Would recommend.

Negative experience: Booked it for the bank holiday weekend. Woke up Monday morning to construction works going on directly above my room. Went down to reception. Sent an email. Was eventually told I could take my time getting out and wouldn’t be charged a late fee ? Spoke to manager. Pointed to a barely noticeable sign behind reception and a ‘there’s never a good time for these things’. Not offered anything to compensate for disruption. Total disgrace. Please stop charging full price for rooms while you carry out work to improve your hotel. I spent my money on your hotel as it currently is. I would never have booked this if I had been properly informed and I should have been compensated properly. Not just a shoulder shrug.

Positive experience: The hotel was good & our room was nice & also spotless. The breakfast was outstanding. The bar was comfortable & the food in there was really good. Our stay was spoiled though when we checked in & tried to upgrade to a stay with evening meal but were told no. This was contrary to the information we were given on the phone a couple of days earlier when we booked, which was that we could upgrade to a stay with evening meal at a later time. The person on reception who told us this was less than helpful & not the friendliest. We will now return to staying at the Canal Court Newry where the staff can't do enough for their guests.

Fantastic experience: The location in fantastic. The hotel has done quite impressive renovations and upgrades on the rooms. Staff at the reception really friendly and helpful. Good gym facilities and swimingpool with spa. Breakfast a bit limited, I have missed some more options for people that do not eat fried food. English breakfast lovers totally Welcome. No cheese or ham to put on your bread. We would repeat our stay for sure.

Fantastic experience: Went to the Freddie Mercury tribute night the dinner before was lovely only problem we ask for a desert menu which we got but after 20min no one had came back to take the order so we just got up and paid the rest of the evening was brilliant would definitely recommend if its ever on again

Negative experience: Ate in the restaurant today, a party of 4, 3 starters came out but waited an extra 10mins and had to ask if 4th was coming, it was soup. It was then brought out and it was cold and unable to eat. When spoke to young girl she said it was made especially for me, (probably left on side in kitchen while other starters came). Mains came out, 2 ordered steak 2 lamb, the steak wasn't that great, (brought home for dog). Desserts, hot apple pie ordered, the soup was warmer that that. Went to pay then and as a female I was called Sir, I commented and person taking payment said she was looking at my partner who was with me, even though it was myself paying. Place very over run with young workers and majority don't have a clue what they are doing. I have ate here many times before and always loved the food there. It was a treat for my husband for husband birthday but needless to say, I won't be returning any time soon. P.S didn't pay for soup and my husband got a free pint as compensation for my food not been right .

Negative experience: This is my 2nd visit in 5 months to this hotel in July we had a room over the bar which was very noisy so very little sleep ..this was the only issue the receptionist was apologetic and asked me to request a quiet room on return to hotel ..I was back in December a Saturday night I asked receptionist to check I had a quiet room as requested to be told the hotel in was full and very busy..the room was at the front of hotel over the entrance an the corridor was extremely noisy so very little sleep again it would appear that my request was not that my request was ignored ..the rooms were spotless the food was ok, not high quality but ok.. staff very pleasant ..I was just disappointed that my request for a quieter room was ignored considering I booked it back in July ..

Fantastic experience: The staff were very helpful and friendly they gave us a upgrade room. The meal we had was very nice in the restaurant I had the burger and chunky chips and my wife had the chicken salad. The service was excellent. We would be differently be back great hotel.

Fantastic experience: The hotel has an 'open all hours' coffee shop in the reception area which creates a very nice atmosphere. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about what to see and do in the city and the bedrooms were recently refurbished and very clean. We had a lovely meal in the bar area and a delicious breakfast in the restaurant. We loved our short stay and will return.

Positive experience: Stayed for one night. The room was excellent but breakfast was less than average. Cereal choices basic and what was on offer for the full Irish was really poorly presented. Quality of sausage, puddings bacon , mushrooms dreadful I must say. Surely they could improve on this!?
