Negative experience: The equipment is good but the gym is overcrowded, has no music, the payment system is a joke. The only good thing is a great Personal trainer

Fantastic experience: I joined about two months ago and absolutely love this gym. Great equipment and overall atmosphere. Excellent and clean facility. Haven't interacted with the staff but they seem to be doing a great job. Can be very crowded in the evenings but mornings are great for workouts.

Negative experience: Good gym for what you pay however I’m giving 1 star purely because the air con system is never on high enough. I’m assuming this is related to some sort of cost saving, if you’re doing a really hard workout you can feel like you’re going to pass out because of the heat.
Hi Mat. Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. We have recently made slight changes to this area, looking at improving energy efficiency. This is both to control our energy usage, but also with a look to reduce our carbon footprint. By law, we have a requirement to provide a certain amount of fresh air based on occupancy levels, and our ventilation system increases and decreases at different times throughout the day and night, making sure we meet these requirements and provide good air movement around the gyms. These levels are based on size of the gym, and occupancy levels, and are regularly monitored. All member feedback is reviewed, and brought to the attention of our Facilities team, who regularly review any changes we make to our gym facilities and all feedback is taken into account when making any future changes. Negative experience: Sorry never been here
Negative experience: Joined just as they started a refurb so it's more than half empty of any equipment. I feel cheated out of a full price membership for a facility when there is virtually no equipment to use. Gym is being slowly upgraded. Oct 2024 and it's still a work in progress but they're still charging full price, which seems a bit bad. Hopefully it should be completed "soon"

Negative experience: AVIOD THE SHOWER! Water temperature is way beyond healf & safety. You will get a skin burn in seconds. Management seems to not worry as the issue is going on for months now and has been reported by ladies several times (they only put shower 'out of order' for a while and all back to normal after a couple of days. This is unacceptable, that you pay for gym and can not have even a quick shower cause water is boiling!

Negative experience: I am not happy with the customers that go to the puregym. Some are very racist and very aggressive. Gyms should be a place for bettering self but instead it has turned into a place of racism against brown skin people. This is not acceptable in 2024 . It's time to move past the racism in the world. Positive experience: Good value for money. Could use a few extra weight machines so you aren’t waiting around for leg press (1 machine) and others. A lot of young teens in there between 5-7pm Never have the air con on Good if you just want somewhere to train later in the evening .

Positive experience: Great setup in principle. The machines could be better laid out. In and out mussel groups is better. Also, the leg extension machine is poor.

Negative experience: Absolutely awful gym u don't get treated with respect there most of the machines don't work it use to b great when it first opened but has just gone down hill over the years, thankfully there's now a new 24/7 gym opening in Wrexham

Negative experience: Gym is too busy, really hot, and often cant use equipment/ floor space. During peak hours, good luck if you want to use a treadmill or grab a bench to work on. The gym is just too busy and not enough equipment for everyone to use. Downstairs in the gym is usually boiling hot and often smells bad, and upstairs is freezing cold (to the point you have goosebumps while using the crosstrainer). They offer classes in the evenings (fab around working 9-5) but if you don’t want to join in on a class, good luck finding floor space to workout as there is none, and classes are back-to-back till 7/8pm every night. The big gym mat was removed from upstairs floor area leaving only 3 small yoga mats for everyone to share during peak hours! Will be switching to a different gym next month, it’s not worth the £25pm you pay to go here.

Positive experience: I went for a one off session as i needed to kill time in the area. Its great that this is an option. The equipment is pretty old, and the weird personless entrance system took a bit of working out. But to be fair, even though it was busy, there were plenty of options for equipment to jump on. There was a good friendly atmosphere. I'll probably go again.

Positive experience: Gym itself is good and no issues with equipment. The issue is the amount of people in there at one time, can never get on the equipment without having to queue for a while. When we spoke to staff the reply was "nothing I can do it's a corporate company" so where does the corporate company stand with health and safety and fire regs? We pay the money every month and get there and can't use the equipment because of the volume of people who are just let in continuously. Surely there should be some sort of limit set?

Negative experience: A lot of treadmills don’t work and after complaining the out of order signs have been removed but nothing has been fixed. 2 out of 3 rowing machines have been out of order for over a month

Negative experience: Been a member for 8+ years but unfortunately had to cancel, due to the volume of people being let in. the gym simply isn't big enough! Ques to get in the place and Ques while your in there to use machines or benches. Move to a bigger unit!

Positive experience: A clean gym, like most posts , seems like not enough benches,weights,however the machines are easy to handle and workout. The good point its 24/7 so perhaps change the workout routine to fit in with the equipment.

Negative experience: Absolute worst gym on the planet. Get as many people as they can in whilst not improving any equipment. Every machine is always full at any time of day, no staff to ask for help and not enough weights

Positive experience: You literally cannot train while there's a class of sorts going on. The PT shouts into that PA system like a drunk person doing karaoke. Had to leave/stop my workouts half way through twice....so distracting

Negative experience: Awful gym , can’t move around. Well overpopulated. I used to have a personal trainer at pure but Have had to cancel because it is too busy at the suitable times. Would not recommend to anyone !

Negative experience: Posting a review because the gym has been borderline unusable since the start of January, for week days between 4-9 in the evening. Of course there's the new years increase, but this is not helped by all the discounts they advertise for new people. I clocked 201 people on the app yesterday, and the gym is not big at all. They also say that it is 16+, but this is not checked, with many teenagers as low as 12 in there. The staff/PTs are all nice and helpful, and the gym itself is kept clean. However, I'm begging for some improvements. Mirrors in front of the squat racks, and by the deadlift zone. Also, mirrors for the whole of the bench section. Another bench for bar chest press. Another two sided cable machine. These could take the place of some cardio machines, or some of the less popular machines upstairs (oblique twist, or the one that works your lower back). If there's even more budget, a shoulder shrug machine wouldn't go amiss, and another leg press machine. This gym is in such a good location for me, so I'm rooting for it to get better. The automatic Puregym reply is to approach the Gym Manager or use the feedback box. Only Pts are ever there, and the feedback box does not exist. Also impossible to suggest things, as they do not reply to the Wrexham email.

Positive experience: Good value gym, the main problem is the lack of equipment, especially during busy times. All these years and they still only have 1 bench press for the whole gym!!! they have added so many treadmills, bikes etc for cardio but don’t add any new machines/benches. Really annoying having to wait or queue for equipment all the time, there is so much space that is wasted and could have been used for more machines/weights equipment!!

Positive experience: A good value for money gym and I really enjoy that it is 24/7! My only issue was that it is not signposted anywhere that the girls changing rooms lock between 12-3am and my belongings were locked in there, including house and car keys! Needs to be more clearly signposted, and no member of staff available to contact either! Other than that I enjoy using the gym and it’s range of equipment

Positive experience: Decent gym. Variety of equipment. Car park. I really like the layout and love how there is a Zumba class. Only two squat racks and neither of them have a mirror to check form in the corner of your eye or whilst warming up (instead, you can stare at a blank wall). A mirror behind the deadlift bar would also be helpful. Hard to workout with cleaning chemical fumes, but I'm glad the machinery is kept clean and I suppose there isn't a right time to clean for a 24/7 gym.

Negative experience: I used a free pass over the Christmas break. It was pretty quiet and I can see why. The gents toilet cubicle was falling over, the weights area resembled a bouncy castle, the benches are very high and unstable when using anything over 30kg, squat racks have soft flooring under foot which is off putting, and the barbells are heavy worn and strangely thick. Great gym to take selfies and tag yourself "working out" but for a decent weights workout you may well struggle.

Fantastic experience: Great Gym! Train 24 hours a day. Good facilities, plenty of weight machines for all body parts. Large selection of free weights and an array of classes. Clean, tidy. Recommended.

Negative experience: Sill not enough equipment, weights, not enough benches despite them "looking into it". Dirty - the water fountain I know hasn't been cleaned in weeks, there is still manky bits in it that has been there for ummm a while. Loud, they always have the music blaring which for anyone is extremely annoying.

Negative experience: Not enough benches or machines to cover peak periods. Been using gyms for 30 years and I have never seen a gym so over-subscribed as to have to ditch a workout. Couldn't get a bench, and people were queuing for them. Very disappointing, so membership cancelled, and searching for a new gym.

Positive experience: A good value gym, with a good select of pretty decent equipment - I in particularly like the deadlift platform they added, although the actual bars aren't great quality, and you'll likely need to factor in time around it's availability. All-in-all, great value for money, but peak hours make for very difficult use of the weights sections and the range of equipment is somewhat limited in comparison with other gyms in the area - as to be expected for it's lower price though.

Negative experience: I’ve never seen a gym layout as bad as this one, makes it so uncomfortable to workout on the machines at times as they all face towards each other so you’re stuck staring at people opposite you rather than the walls where the TV’s are. Most of the equipment need a lot of maintenance as well, looks outdated compared to other gyms and it looks like they haven’t replaced any of the equipment since they’ve open as you can clearly tell by how badly worn out they are and not working smoothly as they should.

Positive experience: Great variety of equipment. Two improvements to be made in my opinion are to include boxing equipment to add a different fitness aspect. However more importantly, provide users with a WiFi connection as the bt open doesn't work and it would ideal to have a WiFi connection in order to access fitness app videos such as Peloton.

Fantastic experience: Great site with great facilities. Cleaning equipment was available throughout and there was plenty of space between everything to keep it a safe environment. Actually had some equipment that my local PureGym doesn't have in Chester.

Positive experience: Go here all the time some points of the day can be extremely busy and would avoid but the app is very useful and it tells you the busy periods but if something is damaged it stays damaged for a couple of weeks before it's fixed good use of space ti equipment but other pure gyms are bigger and better
