Fantastic experience: All the staff are awesome! You always get a hello or goodbye and the managers have taken an ugly duckling and turned that gym into a swan. Equipment is always clean now every time I go in, I don’t do classes but they sound really engaging and fun, the vibe and energy in the gym now compared to this time last year are so different. The pts and managers certainly care and they’ve done a great job!

As soon as I walked in, I was impressed by the clean and spacious layout. The gym is well-equipped with a variety of machines, free weights, and functional training areas, which cater to different fitness needs, whether you're into strength training, cardio, or group exercises. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and I appreciated the clear instructions about the gym's layout and facilities

Negative experience: Must be due a refurb soon? Place needs a thorough, deep clean. Various parts are never touched, cleaning station, water machine, all filthy. Lockers are old, broken and dirty. Weights never returned to the correct place. You can blame members for this, but if staff were seen doing it, eventually it would become normal. Doesn't appear a problem at most other Pures.

Positive experience: One of the PT’s has a serious attitude problem, else it’s pretty good

Negative experience: Quality of the gym has gone downhill massively over the years I’ve been a member with no real maintenance or upkeep carried out. The place is a complete mess, equipment is regularly broken or missing. Sadly there is little sign of improvement. I will be looking to change gyms to the new JD gym opening in Ipswich soon.

Negative experience: The only thing that lets this gym down is the personal trainers. I've had two and the first one was late for nearly every session we had and very rarely stayed for the whole hour I paid for, the second one was worse, cancelling appointments 5 minutes after they was supposed to start and being late and not letting me know with poor excuses like it was raining and she wanted to wait for it to stop! I loved this gym for ages but I feel so disappointed in the PTs I'm seriously considering changing gyms as I need a decent PT to help me progres in my fitness goals.

Fantastic experience: Class goers, heavy lifters, calisthenic upside club. You make this gym fantastic! The best bunch of members a gym could have!

Negative experience: Plenty of gym equipment but often there’s issues with it and it doesn’t get picked up on by the staff. Several of the lockers don’t work properly despite being reported to management. The air con also doesn’t appear to be working. I signed up to this gym because of the location but now there’s a new gym, JD, opening up soon I may be tempted to go there. Pure gym seriously need to get their finger out if they don’t want to lose customers. Air con seems to be a big issue. It’s very uncomfortable to partake in classes and Hiit training due to air con units either not functioning or blowing out warm air. I’ve reported it a few times and I get the same reply from customer service every time: With regards to the temperature in the gym, we use air conditioning units which heat the air when it drops below 17.5C, and cools the air when it goes higher than 21.5C, keeping the temperature within the gym at an acceptable level. This is regularly checked to ensure the units are operating as they should be across all of our gyms.

Negative experience: The gym is not well maintained, equipment often broken, lockers out of use etc. No one takes responsibility for anything. Air con not working today. Will need to up their game if they want to keep me as a member with JD opening.

Fantastic experience: Love the staff, the gym is clean and the people are friendly and helpful. All equipment is there and I enjoy the classes especially .

Positive experience: Circuit training machines very crowded. Plenty of aerobic machines. Free weights not crowded.

Negative experience: I been a member of this Gym since 2 years and I can say it is very well maintained but, can management please put some air fresheners in the toilets. It smells really bad in the toilets.

Fantastic experience: I joined PureGym recently and already started to feel much better, But my husband surprised me even more. He became more flexible stronger. Before I he could lift only one 2kg dambell, now he doing exercise with two 4kg. Not easy but he can do it, I am very impressed. We both will recommend PureGym to everyone who wants to enjoy life in good health condition as longer as possible. And enjoy very friendly atmosphere, helpful staff, big choice of sports equipment, convenient time for everyone = 24 - 7!!!

Negative experience: It has everything you need and the equipment is fairly decent. It’s a globo gym so if you deadlift more than 4 plates you’ll be a god there. I’ve been going for quite a while now and have noticed a ton of issues. Most pressing was the female cleaner’s total disregard for privacy and entering the men’s room whilst men were changing to clean. I suppose it’s not a big issue when I saw a bunch of girls hanging out in there anyway with their mates. So I guess if you expect basic privacy avoid the changing rooms. The pipes above leak constantly and have for over a year now despite me overhearing a couple of times how they plan to fix the issue. The trainers seem nice enough although a few of them are in terrible shape which I can’t imagine being particularly inspiring. But you should do yourself a favour and avoid PT sessions here anyway since they are laughably bad. Most workouts I have seen them prescribe people range from bad to ridiculous. One of the trainers seems to know what he is doing but the rest seem completely clueless regarding size, strength or endurance training

Negative experience: 3rd time I'd signed up and paid for a month, but the first time my code has actually ever worked. No staff after 9pm when I needed to use so could never resolve my issue with the QR code scanner. 2 males hog the middle apparatus, constantly making you feel worthless .. very small gym for the price . Used 4 times and never went back .. Very over priced

Fantastic experience: Questo è, da anni, tra i miei posti preferiti ad Ipswich. Adoro questa palestra perché, oltre ad essere ENORME, è aperta 24h/24. Il problema è che è spesso troppo piena e non si ha quindi la possibilità di usare alcuni macchinari senza fare la fila. Pulizia ok, potrebbe essere leggermente meglio ma la palestra non è sporca. ll camerino donne ha, dall'ultimo anno, dei problemi di odori ed è molto maleodorante, non so il motivo. In generale amo troppo questo posto per dare meno di 5 stelle!

Negative experience: I find people are on their phones too much..just sitting on equipment and not actually doing a workout/ .A guy today was doing a tick tock video near me for god sake !.Also guys need I stop hogging the equipment/ machines in groups its intimidating.espcially for women .let other people use them.

Positive experience: Very busy so you have to time it right if you want to use the weights. People are friendly and the staff are great. Just be careful if leaving late at night as sometimes you get undesirables hanging around the stairs. Can be intimidating.

Negative experience: OK. If you don't plan on going at a normal and convenient times, else cheap membership is a false economy as equipment availability is few and far between.

Fantastic experience: Has everything that you need for a good workout, it’s clean and has a good atmosphere. I do wish it had a couple more squat racks but it’s not an issue when outside of peak times

Positive experience: Great gym, some old equipment and not the best ventilation, makes it a little warm in there, but typical puregym, one deadlift platform, all the machines and a few deadlift cages.

Positive experience: PureGym Ipswich is located upstairs in the Buttermarket shopping centre. I used the gym on a day pass. I found the app easy to use. The gym and it's equipment seem very modern and new. The changing rooms were clean and pleasant to use. I wish the lockers used a returnable pound coin as my padlock was too thick to use which was annoying and didn't want to pay £6 to buy a new lock for a day visit.

Negative experience: Nice enough gym, good class and pleasant staff. Possibly the worst app in the history of technology.

Negative experience: Not clean (moldy showers, forever leaking pipes in gym, never any soap to clean hands or non broken spray bottles to clean machines),not a very friendly atmosphere, staff not friendly, no one ever there even when they are there I take that back, the only person who ever genuinely smiled was the in-shape black guy who works there.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love PureGym, which says a lot considering I’m the very definition of a home body. The atmosphere, the people and especially the equipment and the availability of the equipment is astonishing. Definitely would recommend visiting, it’s a great place to get in shape. I haven’t yet had the pleasure of using the shower room/changing rooms, or attending any classes but if you were to ask any other member of the gym I can assure u that they would have nothing but wonderful things to say.

Negative experience: This review is an unfair one but it is 1 star as it is easy to fix and I will change it to 5 star if it is fixed. Please get on top of the dumbbells being in the wrong place! The other branch I visit they are always in the correct place (20kg by 20kg label etc). I know it is members’ responsibility to place them back where they came from but they should always start the day in the right place with staff correcting if they see mistakes, slaps on wrists if members caught placing in wrong place etc. Not fair but easily solved and I know it annoys many people :-)

Fantastic experience: PureGym Ipswich has recently got better due to the facilities being looked after.. I spoke to management about an issue that didn't get resolved at that time but recently spoke to new management that resolved the issue within a reasonable time.. now giving five stars for this reason alone! The gym is friendly and if you know what you are doing it's not a bad place to train. Decent floors and the equipment is what you would expect from a commercial gym. Hopefully the new management will only improve the experience rather than old management taking shortcuts. Keep up the good work.

Positive experience: Been using pure gym for years, in general it has a friendly atmosphere and from my personal experience the personal trainers and staff are really helpful and polite. The gym is very well equipped and it's also very well maintained and clean, I feel the gym offers a lot from the membership including all the classes. Your able to train however you enjoy due to the range of different areas they have, from weights to cardio. Also what I really like about this gym, is stereotypically larger chain public gyms tend to frown upon heavier weights and compound lifts, especially deadlifts ect, not sure has experienced issues with this before but I have, but you will have no issues training hard and heavy in this gym if that's your preferred style. The only thing I can really say that I dislike is the gym can get very busy at peak times, which means it may be useful to try and choose the times you train, you can use the pure gym app to help you do this, which is what I usually do, as when the gym is very busy there are only 3 squat racks and you can sometimes wait a while if you need one for your session at these times. Overall it's a great gym, with great facilities and the staff are all very helpful and in my experience go out of their way to help if you need any hints or tips. For the price of the membership I'd say it's great value for money too.

Positive experience: Ok gym, usually busy afternoon. If you don't live near but drive you get free parking at buttermarket car park wich is nice. Most annoying thing is in the shower. You have to keep pressing the thing as the water would stop after 1-2 seconds...

Positive experience: By far in my opinion best value for money!! Premium membership to and pure gym in the country for £26 24/7 is good value! I just wish they had more covid safety measures in place.... with around 50% of customer not wiping machines down after use and staff never say anything! The mask situation is bad as staff i have seen in 10 visits never ask customers to use a mask when coming in or leaving or going from one side of gym to the other.

Positive experience: Not bad. Plenty of equipment...traditional geezers but located in the brozone exclusively. Easygoing environment relatively low for attitude. Am regular :)

Positive experience: Good quality gym with a large range of equipment available, as well as a separate space for classes. The facilities were clean and well maintained and membership prices are very competitive. Only negative is I'd like to see more free weights, however if you're not interested in free weights this gym would be perfectly ideal.

Fantastic experience: I just joined after switching gyms and I've only been once so far. I can't fault this place. I've seen complaints about it being busy but I went early afternoon on a weekday and there was 40 people in there according to the app but it felt like 5-10. Maybe 1-3 people on each section consisting of maybe 6-15 pieces of kit. Every gym will have a rush after 5pm and on the weekends so... If you're working Mon-fri 9-5, maybe go before work or later at night if you don't wish to be part of the same rush you're complaining about? They've used the layout of the venue so well that there's so many machines you can use which feel completely private - different levels, sections, and machine facing away from each other unlike the gym who have theirs all in rows? The strength training area is a bit daunting as it's far more open but they can't exactly change that part of the layout. Plenty of antibac spray and hand sanitiser stations, very clean, modern, and so much natural light. Music being played and a nice clean carpet really helps with the atmosphere. So the £19.99 isn't too bad, all things considered!

Fantastic experience: Such mixed feelings.... Ipswich gym, Great stuff, clean, tidy, well looked after. Very pleased. Admin staff (assume not at Ipswich).... Not so pleased with. I was an off peak member and while looking at the Bolt On's saw that I could get them all for just £5 a month more. I thought why not! £13.99 + £5 is great! Shocked when I see that my DD is now £25.99! Apparently the advert assumes your a Core member at £19.99 hence the 'only £5' False advertising!!!!. Now I've had about 6 emails back and forth trying to revert back to my bog standard off peak membership.. still struggling and almost at the point of just cancelling and joining The Gym instead. EDIT- changed back to 5 stars as its not Ipswich gyms fault that the Head Office staff didn't know what they were talking about. So Ipswich gym, well done, see you after Lockdown V2.

Positive experience: Equipments need to be repair on time. Pure gym is letting us down not repairing on time. I believe if money comes out my account every month without any delay, I expect puregym to repair equipment on time.

Positive experience: Think I prefer that people are still wiping down the equipment after use. Not everyone but most. Doesn't seem to be a lot of choice in classes - a far poorer selection than pre Covid days. All in all though it's a decent gym.

Fantastic experience: I have only been a member for a week and this is my first experience of a gym and can honestly say that this place is great! I did a couple of inductions on my first week to get a knowledge of the machines. The trainers have made me feel welcome and there's a friendly vibe in the gym. The changing facilities are clean and there's a good selection of equipment. I thought I would feel really self conscious as a beginner but I don't at all. You also get 2 hours free parking in the Buttermarket carpark.
