Negative experience: Is the AC seriously working at this gym?!! I gave a feedback with same issue during the summer, and there was no answer! I also reported that twice to the staff. I was off the gym for a month, because it was unbearable and I couldn’t freeze with a short notice. But now it’s November and I don’t understand why they keep it too warm as well. What’s more great about it is finding no soap in the toilet. You can imagine the rest of the story there :) They obviously care about cost more than customers’ satisfaction. This is the end of my subscription. Follow up:) The last year the wifi was not working which was very hard to work there and being forced to a miserable playlist there. And believe me, no headphones can block the noise there. They used to have a really enjoyable spinning classes. Unfortunately, trainers have been changed, and later many classes were cancelled without advanced notice. I had to wait there and waisted my time.

Positive experience: PureGym makes it easy and accessible for me to stay fit and always clean.

Positive experience: Do you get free parking within castle mall when attending the gym?

Positive experience: Though this gym has loads of equipment, it's not a great place for a workout. The locker rooms are not well kept and much of the gym often smells like urine. The stock gym music is constantly blaring too loud for noise canceling headphones to drown it out. Don't go late afternoon as it's wall to wall teens.

Positive experience: Really like the Gym, good atmosphere and as an old guy do not feel out of place or intimidated Use of studio when not in use is a plus and plenty of equipment to use

Fantastic experience: Always a welcoming, enjoyable atmosphere, and excellent facilities and equipment.

Positive experience: Still has an issue with disabled access becoming a one way system of an evening, due to the Castle Mall, despite main doors being open to everyone else.

Negative experience: Terrible decision to join this place. Pay extra and join a better gym.

Negative experience: Not bad. Changing rooms and showers could be cleaned more regularly to be honest but overall not so bad. Update: pure gym have decided to increase the price from next month. Changing rooms/bathrooms are not clean, the male bathroom does not smell nice. There is not enough cleaning sprays for members to use to clean equipment after use and no hand sanitizers available. Looking at gym group as it seems as a good alternative to pure gym in terms of price

Positive experience: Very crowded generally and the variety of equipments not that great. Although overall it is a good and value for money gym.

Fantastic experience: Was recommended the place by a friend And I was unsure at first with going to a gym finding it daunting but the staff made me feel at home immediately and it is a place I have love to train at for almost 2 years now so if you find yourself in Norwich and the feeling to train I can't recommend it enough

Fantastic experience: This is definitely my go to Gym. A great, clean, and comfortable space with a modern design. There is tons of equipment to use, each working perfectly and are maintained nicely. I am always able to access the equipment I need and never have to wait an extensive amount of time to use. The facilities (changing rooms and toilets) are always clean and always have lockers available. The Yanga Sports Water kiosk is a neat touch for premium members like myself, bringing refreshing flavoured waters to my workouts. I have recommended this Gym to my friends and family who are currently or thinking of starting at the Gym. 5 Stars *****

Negative experience: I would say the gym is probably sub par. Certainly not as good as other gyms in Norwich. The main thing it has going for it is it's location, it's the closest gym to where I work. Pros: - Price - student rate is pretty decent - Location - Layout is reasonable - Variety of machines and reasonable range of freeweights equipment. Cons: - No daylight. The gym has a very depressing feel to it as there are no windows. It reminds me a it of that black mirror episode where they have to earn credits and the guy goes on the TV talent show. Quite minimalistic and dreary. At least that guy had a TV - Temperature. It's a bit too warm. That's fine for weights, but kind of sucks for cardio - Equipment. I'm not a fan of the equipment. The multifunction weight cable machines have some broken equipment that needs to be replaced as it looks like it's a bit of a safety hazard. The weight benches feel particularly uncomfortable, so of the cardio equipment feels a bit old/really basic. It would be nice to have bikes with in built fans for example, given the heat - Changing rooms are a bit cramped - particularly the corners due to the layout of the lockers. - Locker sizes are bit small, while there are bigger lockers, I struggle to get my bag(large rucksack) in the. Also I go off peak and the larger ones appear to be quite popular. I wouldn't want to go when it's busy. - Shower cubicles are small. I appreciate that they are white so you can see how clean they are, however it's a bit offputting being able to see the pubes of the last user. Could do with a darker floor colour. The doors are also glass and don't feel conducive to privacy. - The actual showers are a bit annoying. They don't last for long (although I do appreciate it's energy saving), and their temperature fluctuates it multiple others are using them. Also one of them the shower panel wasn't attached to the wall I'm currently undecided as to continue using the gym as there aren't many others close to my work location. If there were I probably would.

Fantastic experience: I recently posted that Norwich Castle PureGym is the best gym I’ve ever been to. Now, several weeks and hardly a day missed later, all I can do is say it again! There’s plenty of first-class equipment, it’s very clean and welcoming, the team members are excellent, and there’s always a fantastic friendly atmosphere. Even when the gym’s busy, there’s more than enough equipment and space to go around and I’ve never felt uncomfortable or intimidated (unlike in other gyms I’ve been a member of.) Joining PureGym was the best decision I made this year. The two hours I spend here every morning (with the occasional afternoon visit too) are my favourite part of the day.

Negative experience: There’s no internet connection inside the gym and sometimes the O2 Wi-Fi provided doesn’t connect properly. Even though it’s hard to have a good training session flow with so many people on their phones instead of working out, not allowing people to use the equipments.

Positive experience: I was going to this gym for the last 6 months, but they recently changed the lighting and there is no Wi-Fi or signal what-so-ever. The lighting is now super dark and uninviting, combined with the lack of cell service, it gives me cabin fever. It also gets incredibly busy with youth, and they tend to misbehave or be too loud. I'm still awarding 4 stars because the staff are incredible, and I met my PT there and worked with him for the last 3-4 months. It's a very clean gym, but I'm unfortunately going elsewhere as the environment has changed. :(

Fantastic experience: One of the best and most affordable gyms in the UK. Definitely recommend.

Negative experience: Signed up last week. I can only describe it as the darkest, dingiest, most overcrowded and overheated gym I have ever been to. No free lockers, no Wi-Fi or 4G (even though you need the app QR to sign in and out!). Ticket to validate parking was not signposted. Changing rooms were tiny and both urinals were out of order. Took about 10 flights of steps to get down there. Stayed for 10 minutes on the treadmill then left. I will not return. Eurgh, a horrible experience!

Fantastic experience: It's like a really pure form of gym, very good

Positive experience: The sport juice dispenser was out of concentrate last night. There are no holders to place your bottles on the equipment either, unlike your Aylsham road gym.

Negative experience: This might be unfair, but as I was not able to gain access to view the place before joining, I will look elsewhere. I stood at the door, buzzing for quite a while, and saw staff inside looking out at me. No one attended to show me round, so I left.

Fantastic experience: Fully equipped, easy to maneuver

Positive experience: Good range of equipment and free weights. Good range of classes. Gym is clean most of the times, but much poorer standards during weekend. On a recent weekend visit, there were no tissue paper in the male changing room, the changing room floors and gym floors were wet. Showers are ok, but no control over the temperature, e.g. if you wanted cold water. No cellular network, but you can connect to O2 Wifi, which is aweful during peak times.

Fantastic experience: please add a seated hamstring curl machine I am begging of you

Positive experience: Good facility lacking some equipment, overall worth it good value for money. No punching bag and can be very busy on week days but weekends useally clear

Fantastic experience: I arrived at just after 8am this morning and it was very quiet so I got to use all the machines I like without waiting and tried out some new ones as well. The only negative is the music.

Fantastic experience: This is great gym with wide variety of equipments and extremely talented trainers.Specifically Chris Evans has got extreme knowledge and very good.He always encourages to try harder and finish the exercises or trainings.He also plans well and come prepared for the sessions with different varieties of exercises and explains each and every exercise very well.So definitely good place to go.Also personally I feel Wi-Fi not being enables me to concentrate more on exercise and leave my phone in bag peacefully at least during that period of time.

Fantastic experience: The atmosphere at Pure Castle Mall is warm and welcoming, as the staff are very approachable and knowledgable. I enjoy the classes, and the personal trainers are at hand for extra training.

Positive experience: Been going to the gym for a while now and find everything okay with the place but just always seems like there is a lack of air flow in the gym, its constantly warm which dont mind something on a cold day but with it being underground and all it does get warm get quick and stays there.

Fantastic experience: excellent selection of equipment. staff are friendly and helpful if you need any help. great community. i would recommend however i personally cannot get the WiFi to work.

Negative experience: I’ve never been to a gym without wifi, since I joined this gym in 2020 They said they are working to fix this issue and get a wifi . However, nothing have been changed once you get in the connection is gone and you got no service. I have discussed this with the manager there ( He proves his careless) I believe there are better options than this gym and I definitely will not renew my membership anymore.

Negative experience: I've been a Pure member for years and visited this gym whilst away on work. It has to be the worst Pure i've been to. In a post-covid world, cleanliness is ever more important. The changing rooms were disgusting and clearly hadn't been cleaned in some time. The toilet floor was soaked and brown with dirt and there was hair in the showers. Also, the Precor cardio kit is awful and the cross trainers feel like they're made for kids. Visit another Pure, where they have proper Matrix kit and is cleaned regularly.

Fantastic experience: Lots of equipment, easy to get on with your workout even if it's busy. They have plenty of cleaning stations with antibacterial wipes to clean down your equipment before and after your workout.

Fantastic experience: Strategically located in the City. Easy access 24/7. Spacious and modern gym equipment. Busy during afternoon time till early evening. Mostly young crowd goes here.

Positive experience: Not great. Lots of improvements to be made. 1. No mobile signal and the O2 Wifi does not work meaning I can't use my workout logging app. For this reason alone I am unlikely to return. 2. Only one rope available for the cable stations, some cable station accessories in poor condition 3. Male changing rooms and toilets very dirty, smelly, and in disrepair 4. Too warm inside

Negative experience: Updated. THE GYM + Great if you like running machines/cycles. There's loads and they're always free. + Great if you like crossfit. That section is always free. - Terrible if you like free weights/resistance machines. 1 of most machines, 2 of few and 0 of some. - If you're tall, some of the machines aren't safe. They don't have the full set of adjustables that allow you to get in the right/a safe position. Calf machine -> snappy knee. - No one racks discs after squats/deads/bench, so it always looks like none are available. = Terribly equipped given it's a city centre gym. - There's no spray/blue roll to wipe down the machines! Don't join if you have a set routine or rotate day by day. The lack of equipment and being beyond capacity make it impossible on a short time frame. To illustrate, I once approached a staff member to ask where another lat pulldown bar was as I could only see 1 and someone was using it. They don't have any others(!). Staff member seemed embarrassed by it. FACILITIES - The gym has 1 water fountain. It has 2 taps but one is broken. Even if it wasn't broken, 2 people couldn't use them at the same time as they're over the same tiny sink. - The wifi doesn't extend to all parts of the gym. When it's really busy it drops out a lot even in the places it does cover. No good for music streaming. - Changing rooms are cramped. - Lots of lockers are kept by people who padlock them and keep their stuff in them when they're not in the gym. - Some people don't bother to put padlocks on their lockers so you think you've finally found a free one but then it's got stuff in it. - The changing rooms smell, not of deodorant but of sweat and urinals, and the floors are often wet where people don't dry properly before leaving the showers. Breeding ground for Athlete's foot. - The lift to get to the gym from Timber Hill takes nearly 2 minutes to come to you and then get you to the door. (protip, the stairs are WAY quicker). - The doors in to the gym take ages with the pinpad and opening / shutting / opening again. Why not a fingerprint ID? Stops people from swapping their pin numbers with their mates. OTHER - Seen some people working out in ways that are quite dangerous (seriously bent back) and staff haven't bothered to stop them. - If you're working out on a lunch time between work, this is not the place for you. Between the slow lift, the slow method of entry, cramped changing rooms, and lack of equipment, you'll spend more time waiting than working out. Style over substance. It looks great with all the fresh colours and a simple aesthetic, but it certainly doesn't work as a gym for people who don't want to sit around waiting for kit to be free. It looks clean from a distance but closer up isn't. Saw some guys in there once with a DSLR doing a photoshoot. Maybe that's what this place is about and I just don't get it. This is only a stopgap for me. Hopefully the Riverside refurb will be vastly different. Otherwise I'm quitting Pure. Friends say that Aylsham Road is no different. 2 stars because it's cheap at a £15 a month and if you've got time it's not so bad. If I was paying full whack I'd quit immediately. THEY UPPED MY RATE 2 DAYS AFTER THIS REVIEW. RIVERSIDE BETTER BUT NOT BY MUCH. I QUIT. Recommendations: - clean the changing rooms more frequently (properly clean - mop, bleach spray, clean the insides of lockers, etc.) - expand the changing rooms. I can't speak for the ladies but the men's is dire - invest in more free weights, resistance machines, and machine attachments - put a quota on the number of members that can be in the gym at any given time - Put in blue roll and spray so we can wipe the machines down - Upgrade the lift if it is owned by Pure to something quicker - Change the door system to something quicker. Maybe a turnstyle with fingerprint scanner - install more water fountains

Positive experience: The gym itself is great, 24/7 and lots of equipment makes it an easy gym to workout in. However a couple of points I have to make is that it always seems to be extremely hot in the gym. I’m not sure if it’s whether they don’t have aircon or it’s just not turned up but you can’t escape the heat. The other thing is that on my last few visits the ladies showers haven’t been that clean. I appreciate the cleaners can’t be in there all the time but they look as if they’ve been left for the week, which isn’t very inviting. I will however say that for £20, the gym itself is worth it!

Fantastic experience: 24/7 access, plenty of equipment, love going late at night when theres no one there, can go in and get what you need done without waiting for any equipment, not that it was a big issue during the day as there is a vast choice of equipment

Fantastic experience: One of the best puregyms that I've been to. The equipment is new and clean, all set over on large level. Parking can be an issue as there isn't much onsite and can get busy.

Positive experience: Nice place to work out - quite new and clean, affordable prices. Room for the classes is not so well separated. So you hear the music and noise in the whole gym if one is taking place what I really don't like. But of course you can just put your earphones in and the problem is solved.

Positive experience: Brilliant equipment but needs longer parkign time I have recently joined the gym, the equipment it's great and the facilities are ok, great variety and great location. A couple of things tho, the parkign allowance needs to be longer, the only time i have to got to the gym is after work and at peak times it could take me about 15 to 20 minutes to find a space in the car park so by the time you get changed and all that, takes you 35 minutes even before you start to work out, then if you take into account showering and getting changed back, another 15 minutes, Therefore if you need to put your ticket in the machine within 2 hours of arrival that only leaves you with just over an hour to work out which for me its not long enough, 2.5 or 3 hours its a more realistic time for the parkign Allowance so you can enjoy a good gym session. Also, the WIFI is not good at all, it doesn't even connect, also as you are underground you can even use your phone data, so if you have workout apps or anything along those lines you are not able to use them.

Fantastic experience: I am already at another gym. However, wanted a gym close to work. The things I like; it’s all on one level, so I can easily access the squat rack. The air conditioners work really well. Everything is lovely and clean Managed to purchase a fob and a padlock no problem! Things I don’t like : not enough space for stretching afterwards

Positive experience: There's masses of equipment. It's open 24/7. The staff have been welcoming. I seem to be the oldest by 30 +yrs but have still been made to feel welcome - which I had not expected

Positive experience: Great gym and such a good price which is why I chose this gym over the gym in the city. The only downfall is I wish you had some stairmaster machines! Otherwise great. I also noticed a couple of the machines weren't working when I attended yesterday.

Positive experience: Really good, can't fault it on price, training facilities and quality of equipment. Even on busy times it doesn't feel cramped and always easy to get on the equipment you need. My only criticism is the size of the changing area, not that easy to maneuver around in.
