Positive experience: Spacious, uncluttered, free parking, bright, air conditioned which is hard to get in Belfast. Clean enough. Gym cat always a treat. Showers are decent. Good range of equipment. Squat racks usually accessible even at busy times. Two good open spaces for functional/mobility/stretch. Generally respectful clientele; people are friendly but mind their own. No kids like in council gym. Music is often too loud especially in changing rooms. Occasional loud dropping from squat racks even in staffed hours which is a pain as against rules in that gym and can damage hearing. Overall good value and fairly chilled.

Negative experience: I booked the Stretch Gym Class at Pure Gym Newtownabbey and I arrived inside the Studio 3 min before the start of the class. However there's no one and no instructor.

Fantastic experience: Spacious gym, very clean. Friendly, competent, and very professional Coach/Pt/Staff, ( I loved the group classes, very easy to book & Cancel). A lot of machines to use, well equipped functional area, enough squats box. The people who use this gym are very respectful and focused on their own training. An great environment overall.

Positive experience: Nice atmosphere, clean changing rooms, spacious. The only thing I would say is that the cardio section should have all the cardio machines together, but I guess doing some stairs between machines won't harm anyone.

Fantastic experience: Brilliantly equipped gym and a welcoming atmosphere. All in all a lovely place to spend some time. The staff are really friendly and helpful, especially the manager Sean and the PT Sarah. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I would highly recommend this gym to beginners and experienced gym goers alike. Keep up the good work Pure Gym!

Negative experience: Even though I cancelled they still took an extra payment out of my bank account never got it back

Fantastic experience: Overall a well equipped gym, especially for the price. Plenty of racks and plates, Concept2 equipment also now fixed and working with ErgData as well. Wish there were spotting arms for the main racks, a belt/harness for sled pulls and maybe a seal row bench (probably not a great return on investment admittedly).

Negative experience: Editing this for anyone interested. Raised my complaint to the email below. They replied basically to say there was nothing they could do. And if i felt that strongly about it, call the police...... shocking! Cancelled because of the staff. First you should never touch anyone without their permission. Then to interupt them mid-set is also dangerous. Then to stop your own training session to interupt someone else is just going out if your way to put someone down. Been to all the puregyms in Belfast and this is the worst. Equipment is mostly in the wrong place or not there. Cleaning facilities are poor. That can be excused for the price but then to get told off by the staff was enough to make me cancel my membership to all gyms. He went out of his way to interupt me mid- set. While he was training someone else. To tell me i was using the equipment wrong. I think its intimidating enough to start a gym. Dealing with staff like this makes it impossible

Negative experience: Poor customer service. You can’t even get into the gym with the pin provided and when you try to get any form of help there is none available. In the end I left and joined the Ballysillan gym which had actual people available to help which shouldn’t be such a novel concept

Negative experience: Gym is always freezing Only cold air being pumped out of heating vents . Apart from cold conditions being uncomfortable to train in This is a health and safety issue. Cold muscles can be prone to injury . There is no excuse to have heating turned off Government are helping reduce your energy bills Please turn the heating back on

Negative experience: I tried to cancel my membership but the app says I need to email since I have a fixed membership account. So I did 2 days before billing date but got a response exactly a day after billing date saying I need to use the members area on ‘your profile’. I explained that I already did this and was then asked for account details which I already provided in my first email with the cancellation request. Upon providing the same again and asking for a refund for the amount billed after my cancellation request - I was told they cannot refund since i did not ask to cancel 4 days ahead. And then the email also states again the steps on how to cancel membership through app (like I already did not try). Cancelling a membership should not be this difficult. Most importantly, you cannot deny a refund for a month that I will not use the gym for, it’s like you took my money without providing me the service - isn’t that wrong? As a customer who was going to rejoin the gym after a few months I can now say I won’t return to PureGym ever and so will my family. Steve from membership services is the person who handled my case via emails.

As per the terms and conditions you agree to when signing up, you simply need to cancel the direct debit with your bank at least 4 working days before your payment is due. Negative experience: Overcrowded. For January (most busy month) they made promotion 50% off first month and no contract fee. Too many cardio machines too few benches. Not enough 10kg and 5kgs plates. No weight shelves. Weights are everywhere. Gym staff talk with friends. I seen once someone from staff actually tied up a place. Gym is filled with casuals and instastories, hug machine for 30mins. About 1/3 machines are damaged. No maintenance for months

We’re afraid it's true, our gyms simply are very popular and so can become busy especially at peak times, but this does fluctuate throughout the day and from day to day. Members can also use the members area via the PureGym app or website, to see how many people are in the gym. It is in the gym rules that members should return their own weights or risk suspension, but at peak times especially it can be hard to police this. However, staff on site do everything they can while we also have CCTV monitoring the free weights and are looking for new ways to combat this. Thanks, PureGym

Fantastic experience: Visited 3 times for classes this week during working away as my usual gym is in Leeds. Great place and very friendly. Loved the mix of classes and the instructors were all fab! Will be back next time I'm over.

Negative experience: Cleaning stations need cleaned , standards have gone down , less sprays than before,plus container's not clean

Staff do regular cleaning checks in the gym and we have dedicated cleaning teams who come each night to carry out and comply with internal and external audits. Our gyms will be deep cleaned every day with a high-grade anti-viral disinfectant, to ensure the highest level of cleanliness for our members. The teams will clean every piece of kit and surface throughout the day, from dumbbells to treadmills and everything in between, so you can train with confidence. If you have concerns with the cleanliness in your gym we can check the cleaning rotas and ensure all procedures are being followed. Fantastic experience: Great gym! Lots of equipment which is cleaned by staff regularly. Members also clean down equipment after use, which is reassuring. Management is friendly and welcoming too.

Fantastic experience: Big man klaudijus been working me to the bone, he is well knowledged in this lone of work and is always keen to get you to your goal he makes an amazing PT always looking after you with free water, protein shakes sometimes spoils his clients with a donut occasionally :)) he can offer some free tips and always eager to help out wpuld recommend him 100% gym is amazing and very corona virus friendly by taking every social distancing measures:))

Positive experience: Good wee place, you know me, I never stop. I'm in that gym 45 minutes a couple of times a month. Good weights for lifting and getting a decent pump. The miss's always telling me to take it easy before I get too big and strong

Negative experience: Dirty place
Positive experience: 24 hour gym. Good range of equipment. Music is constantly playing in the gym. Helps with getting a rhythm going. The changing rooms stay open until midnight. After that time there is lockers downstairs and a toilet which you can use. If you have any problems there is an emergency button on the different floors which allows you to contact help.

Fantastic experience: This gym is handy to my kids school and there's free parking. Also I have never had to wait for a machine as there's always loads to choose from and if you ever have any questions the personal trainers are always really nice and helpful. Would never swap gyms now

Fantastic experience: Great gym! There is free parking available! The gym itself is quite big, with plenty of space and machines available over two floors! I’ve never found the gym too busy to get a proper workout! There is a free weights section and a studio upstairs and classes are included in the price of your membership!

Positive experience: This is a good gym, slightly smaller than other PureGyms I have been in with less equipment. If you go at the right time you should have no issue with being able to use the equipment. If you go during peak hours, be prepared to wait around for certain machines, particularly leg machines. It's clean, the bathrooms and showers are clean and for the price you pay you get a decent deal.

But everybody is welcome, and we are always looking to expand and improve our facilities to make the most of the space where possible, so please keep an eye out for updates.
