Fantastic experience: Nice and clean gym, equipments good and it’s not too busy. The memberships are also a decent price and you get a nice deal if you’re a student. Very friendly staff who offer personal training with your membership which is a really good deal. Overall I definitely recommend

Negative experience: I joined this gym in the summer I liked the size of the gym and the fact it had a ladies only section so was excited to sign up and get into shape I was taken through my induction by an older blond lady and TBH her manner was pretty unpleasant I am dyspraxic so struggle with co-ordination so it took me a couple of try’s to correctly lunge she smirked and huffed while I did this which was very immature and unnecessary as a qualified PT surely she should understand not everyone gets technique straight away and not to be so blatantly ignorant especially as in my case it is beyond my control. When showing me the weight machine and advised me to increase weight she mentioned reps and sets which I didn’t understand the difference when I tried to ask about when I should increase the weight for clarification she blatantly snorted at my question than did OTT slow explanation which actually did not even answer the question I asked, this was TBH quite upsetting I joined the gym due to lack of confidence in my body so this attitude towards me was really disheartening especially from someone old enough to be my mother who I would expect to have learned basic decency and manners. I tried to ignore this and stayed a member for a few months but I was so put off I only really went once a week the equipment in the ladies only section is also noticeably older and worse quality than in the main gym which again was pretty off putting.

Fantastic experience: I personally really enjoyed my time at Formula One. The staff are very friendly and professional on helping to achieve on your goals for healthy living and bringing life transformation.

Fantastic experience: I've known Chris & Joe for many years now and I can honestly say their expertise, advice and equipment they have to offer is amazing. By far the best gym I have ever been to where I can say I've been the most focused and motivated during my workouts!

Negative experience: Had an induction booked and when arrived at reception, i was told to go upstairs and wait at the desk for 'Dom'. Although i dont know who that is and it being my first time being in the establishment im expecting such instructions aren't that difficult to follow. Went upstairs and waited in the hallway, after a 2/3 minutes i walked into the mens are and asked a guy working out do you know who Dom is, as i was told by reception to come upstairs and meet him at the desk. The person said i should be downstairs as there's a desk there, after telling him that was where i was previously, i then decided to go back downstairs and let the female staff at the desk know i could not find this person... She then said oh, well he should be up there, she said to go and wait and he will be there as thats where he's based......... Went back upstairs and waited another 8 minutes in the corridor with people passing me left and right which felt quite awkward considering its the first time ever being there. In the end i walked out and left and instantly rang a friend up who i had geared up to join also.... Wont be going back there again. However Lucy who i was corresponding with over emails, was quite helpful

Fantastic experience: What a great gym, moved to Nottingham a couple of weeks ago and came across f1 gym, after reading a couple of reviews and seeing the gym location I signed up. I have been training regularly for the past 2 weeks and it is going great. The staff and members are all friendly and the natural lighting and gym atmosphere and location are great. Special thanks to Joe and Alex for being really helpful and friendly.

Fantastic experience: Have been going for about 2 weeks now. Really impressed with the gym overall. Only slight negatives is tired equipment and no air con. But apart from that I love the fact there is a womens only floor, it makes me feel safe and relaxed working out. And the trainers make really good workout plans to follow. It'd also super affordable, so overall a great gym.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, and great vibe I love the relaxed turn up and train mentality of this place.

Positive experience: This gym has as much character as the characters that enter it. It is a very much a 'what you see is what you get' gym... its simplistic, which is neither great nor bad. Pros: It has some quality equipment like concept 2 rowers and life fitness cardio equipment, Olympic row and press machines, squat racks and heavy weighted plates. It is well suited to old school bodybuilders of the 1980s with no modcons, but it is just adequate enough for anyone to do a workout here. Price is reasonable for a workout near the city centre and the set up is very straight forward with entering and getting set up with a locker key. The lower level room has some nice space for a potential functional class and it is a big enough area for boxing. Nice to see that personal trainers still exist on the gym floor and the staff seem friendly enough. Cons: some equipment is not the safest for the general public and some bits and pieces could do with being upgraded as some elements are looking a bit runned down. Again despite it being a deliberate old fashioned styled gym I feel some effort could be made in refurbishing new equipment. Some extra space and mats for cooling down would help and a bigger light weight section in the main gym would be nice (not everyone wants to load up the heavy lead straight away.) I Rate this gym as a 'warm ok' for overall value for money Vs quality.

Fantastic experience: Having been a member at Formula One Gym for many years. Ive always enjoyed the unique independence of this gym. Staff are always friendly, welcoming, respectful & professional. There is a big community spirit here which always embraces each & every member from local people to international students & visitors.

Fantastic experience: I've been weight training for 7 years and this is by far my favourite gym. It's always tidy, well maintained and the staff are helpful & friendly. Everyone cares about the equipment and there is a great atmosphere while working out. I highly recommend going.

Going to the gym isn’t just the equipment for me, it’s a good environment and Formula one has that. I’ve tried the gym, pure gym and a couple other but I always end up going back here

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend! Avoid corporate chains and give this one a go and very cheap membership. (The Following comes as standard) The initial induction to the gym involves a physical assessment including blood pressure, HR recovery rate and manual/professional body composition measurement. After booking for the following session you talk to the PT about your goals and the workout he has personalized for you. Really really impressed and a massive shout out to malakai (PT) for his expertise and professionalism.

Fantastic experience: Convenient city centre location. Polite, friendly staff who are knowledgeable; able to assist with nutrition also training programs suited to your individual goals.

Fantastic experience: I lived in Nottingham for over 10 years and trained there all the time, I also joined their spinning classes and running club from time to time. The gym is very clean and very well run. Thanks alot peeps, I had some great times training at Formula One Gym.

Fantastic experience: I've been coming to this gym for 10 years now and haven't ever found an better gym. The staff are caring, respectful, warm, professional and responsive. I love that there's a mixed gym as well as a women's-only gym. There's a great community spirit where members support one another, and the weights aren't just dropped/thrown everywhere as in so many other gyms. Thanks again Formula One.

Fantastic experience: Definitely the best gym I had ever tried, staff are a great team and super helpful. There’s a sense of community and it’s kind of like everyone knows each other. Always tidy and well looked after as everyone adheres to the rules because they know how hard the team works. It’s mind blowing how cheap it is too for what you’re getting I’d have happily payed more. I only left because of the opening and closing times didn’t suit what I needed but other than that faultless. seriously try this gym out! You won’t regret it. Who knows I may drop of some more pastries for you guys soon

Positive experience: I do Love this gym. It's location is great in the heart of the city centre. It has ladies-only floor which is comfortable. No contract membership. And it provides free induction which is great for beginners. But it's not large and the changing room needs improvement because there's no separate rooms and shower rooms are without doors! Just a single curtain for the three shower rooms!

Fantastic experience: Formula One is a amazing, pleasant gym. i have been going for a while now and how quickly and home i was made to feel was astonishing! you are always greeted by a friendly face at reception and made to feel appreciated. The gym floor had everything you need with a range of dumbbells varying in size, plate loaded machines to a variety of cardio exercise's for you to choose from. they also have a studio with a range of boxing equipment. i would highly recommend!

I decided to join the gym due to its women's only floor which is brilliant for someone who gets very shy at the gym, and wish to have a little privacy. Before I joined, I was even offered a free-day pass! Not to mention the very competitive and affordable membership price offered, overall I highly recommend this gym!

Fantastic experience: Got to be the best gym in Nottingham! Staff are so friendly when you come in, greet you by the name ask you how youre getting on. Women's only level and gym and it's always clean both gym and changing rooms/toilets. Staff do take pride in keeping it clean and friendly. Trainers are so lovely and Joe is so friendly too. I've seen trainers help out people randomly which I think is lovely. Even though it's cheap you never have to worry about standards dropping, all gym users tend to put their weights away (or maybe it's just the amazing staff putting them away as there's always a member of staff around) which at my new gym it's really bad even though I pay 3 times the amount. Unfortunately I had to leave the gym as I don't live close to town and I don't like driving through town, otherwise I'd stay here! Miss you all at formula one! Keep it up!

Fantastic experience: What a great gym! As a student it is very conveniently located in the city centre, the gym is never too crowded which is one of my favourite things about it. The staff are really helpful and make you feel welcomed. This is all with competitive pricing. I paid more to use the gym group last year than I do now! Great stuff

Fantastic experience: If you're looking for a welcoming and affordable gym for your fitness, then look no further than Formula One! The gym offers all of the necessary equipment you could ever need to push yourself further in your goals! As somebody who started out not knowing much about fitness and nervous to start their journey, I felt very welcomed by the friendly and approachable attitudes from the team every single day; always being greeted with a smile. If you need help or have any questions, then the team are always there happy to offer assistance and will help push you in the right direction to what you want to achieve. The gym is constantly kept clean and the equipment is maintained very regularly, so I personally feel very safe and comfortable using the equipment and being in the environment. I cannot fault this gym or the team at all. If you are looking to start your journey or for a new gym in central Nottingham, then I strongly recommend stopping in for a tour of the venue!

Fantastic experience: Formula 1 has become a real asset to my fitness journey. I’ve definitely made the most of the amenities that come with the membership like classes and standing sundbed after workouts. The possibility of going into a well-fitted all women’s area was a real safety net for me those days where I didn’t feel as confident. I’ve been more consistent here than anywhere else - I’d credit that to the welcoming energy of staff and the respect from other members too. With my difficult work schedule I’m lucky that the gym is not overly busy at any one time which is differs from the commercial gyms I’ve been to before.

Fantastic experience: Joe and his team at F1 are a credit to themselves and the fitness industry in Nottingham. An authentic and friendly gym that flies the flag for real gym culture in the city centre. Affordable prices and better equipment than all those cheap commercial gyms. It’s never too busy even at peak times and you don’t get groups of young lads treating it like a social club - people come to F1 to train hard, properly and respectfully. F1 feels like a non-judgemental space where everybody is welcome and people just want to see each other improve and grow - the staff are personable + knowledgeable and take great care of upholding the quality of the gym equipment, and keeping the place clean. I’ve been a member at a lot of gyms over the last 10 years and in the short 6 months of being at F1 I’ve made more friends/acquaintances within the gym than I have with all the previous gyms I’ve trained at, combined. + I’ve made more strength gains at F1 than anywhere previous (those metal plates will humble you quick) Long live F1.

Positive experience: Pros: ladies gym. Some staff are friendly like Andrea. cons: Very crowded place. Most of the time you have to wait for people to get out of the treadmill and sauna doesn't heat much and they won't allow us to adjust too. Once a staff told she will switch it on for me and she never showed up. I was waiting for 30 minutes and then I found her teaching someone else upstairs.

Negative experience: i got offended and treated so unfair by the owner of this gym ! avoid it ! she was being mean to me ! and doesn’t really care about treating a loyal customer! avoid avoid

Negative experience: I joined formula one last year in the spring/summer and only ended up staying for the 3 months that my membership lasted. It was awful. On my induction, led by Karen, I was forced to be weighed even though I asked not to be, then after asking for her not to tell me she did so anyway. She then made me take my gym top off in front of the entire floor whilst she pinched my fat, with what I assume was a body fat percentage measure, clearly seeing I was hugely uncomfortable she continued on. She then proceeded to tell me I was 36.6% fat, her exact words. I was then informed by Karen that to be at a healthy weight I needed to lose at least two stone and so I was not in the obese category. Bear in mind I was a size 12/M at this point so I was quiet shocked at this. This went onto affect me mentally and physically so much as I felt I wasn’t there to be shown the gym or the equipment, I was purely there to be shamed. I ended up becoming obsessed with working out and my diet due to how badly I felt about myself. Some of the staff were friendly however some didn’t even say hello when you handed in your card at the desk making it an uncomfortable atmosphere most of the time. The only positive I can find is that there was a girls only section of the gym.

Fantastic experience: If I could give more stars, I would! This is by far, the best gym I've ever been to. The staff are so friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable, you don't get this in any other gym. The equipment may not be to everyone's taste as it's old school but this is what adds to the character of the gym. There's always a great atmosphere, members are also friendly and won't hesitate to provide a helping hand when needed. I've tried a couple of classes and both have been brilliant, the instructors are really experienced and again, very knowledgeable. If you haven't done so already, get yourself down to F1 to experience this yourself, I guarantee you won't be disappointed!

Fantastic experience: Formula one gym is one of a kind. The staff are amazing and incredibly friendly. I used to go here 10 years ago and I'm still greeted warmly by staff when I return on the odd occasion. Good equipment, lots of free weights, separate female only gym and a very friendly atmosphere.

Negative experience: Takes countless emails to get a simple response. Not helpful at all and disregarded any issues I had.
