Fantastic experience: It worth having me driving to from wigan through the M6 every day of the week sadly I couldn’t continue any longer . As it was 1.5 hours a day travel time . -best stuff . -best spa . -best gym z -best & nicest recreation ever existed.

Negative experience: Extremely disappointing service recently from David Lloyd Trafford. They opened a new spar, and my couples membership fee shot up over 12% more! Been a member for 5 years, and now im treated like an idiot at the desk when i want to speak to membership team, nobody from memberships around! Told to use the app, where there is ‘supposedly’ an instant chat feature. Staff tried to show me on my own phone, only to prove im correct, no way of contacting memberships. The app only allows you to leave an email, which they are so far behind on, they are not managing membership enquiries, or complaints . I’m being taken advantage of because I want to use the Blaze class, so they force me to pay for a new Spa that I never asked for, don’t want, need or use. If you join, your membership is susceptible to raise over 10% each year, and when a membership is £150+ per month anyway, that could get eye watering in just a couple years because they want us to pay for new facilities, so not to take it out of stakeholders profits!

Negative experience: My friend recently started a £200-a-month Diamond Membership at a southern location due to planning a relocation, but Trafford is still his local DL for the moment. Having spoken highly of the chain he convinced me to come and visit using a day pass to see if I wanted to join. Having used a number of the facilities I can honestly say… I don’t get the hype. The gym looked deserted, so did the pools and everything was freezing cold. The outside heated pool wasn’t enough to tackle November temperatures, the inside pool was tepid, and both Sauna and Steam rooms were shut without explanation or notification to regular members. All I heard was talk amongst them of how they’d no idea facilities were closed and their annoyance at no communication. There’s no amenities like flavoured water or electrolyte drinks (which even PureGym include or £20pcm) and nothing special about any of it, really. A complimentary towel is a nice touch, but I couldn’t recommend this place to anyone for the price and won’t be joining DL as a result. Premium prices should include a premium experience and sadly, this isn’t it

Negative experience: Would not recommend. I had been warned that if you encounter any issues the customer service is terrible, and in the years I’ve been a member here with my family I have found it incredibly hard to actually speak to someone from management/sales if you need to and there has been occasions where if you call no one answers. This just seems to be a widely accepted issue. However, I never had any serious reason to complain and so accepted that side of things. My view of the club, from a family perspective: PROS • The gym itself is lovely and the facilities have greatly improved following refurbishment, it really is much nicer and feels more trendy and high end. I wouldn’t have said this before the refurb, so if you haven’t been a member in some time - it is nicer. • Reception staff, cafe staff and kid’s staff are all friendly. • swimming lessons have been great. • The fitness classes offered are good and the cafe is nice. • Holiday club provision • guest passes • kids area with soft play CONS • popular fitness and children’s classes book up very quickly. You have to be on the app ready to book as soon as they are released, this is despite having early access to booking as a platinum member. • other than the crèche and the odd baby activity there are no pregnancy classes or classes for new mums where you can take babies or young children along. • the crèche, tennis, swim lessons, and some of the more engaging children’s classes and holiday clubs are an extra cost. Not necessarily a bad thing but it is worth understanding as it does get more expensive. • parking and Trafford centre traffic can be frustrating. The car park spaces are small and there are limited family spaces…they have taken steps to manage this by introducing family parking passes, however these are often ignored. • calls to reception are often ignored and once you are a member it is very difficult to speak to an actual person regarding membership. • there is a long notice period to leave the club, however this was clearly explained when joining. All in all I did like the gym. HOWEVER, I have recently encountered such poor levels of customer service that I have cancelled my membership. This month they have billed me incorrectly and taken too much money out of my account. Not a huge issue and I expected that it would have been easily rectified and fixed. Unfortunately, I have contacted them via email and phone calls to reception for 6 days and not one member of the team has got back to me. I find this incredibly poor service when they have made an error involving billing. I’m not trying to complain about something mundane, I’m trying to (quite rightly) obtain a swift refund and to be assured that the issue is fixed for next month. Upon emailing them today to cancel my membership I received a reply within hours, so they definitely pick and choose what to respond to and what to ignore. When paying over £300 a month I just expect better and I would rather spend my money somewhere that values it. Whilst the gym still has its positives, from a family perspective, David Lloyd is no longer offering anything unique - local gyms across Trafford have been refurbished and now offer family facilities and classes for a much cheaper price. If you value customer service and expect that the service will reflect the price, this just isn’t the gym for you. I am the third family within my social circle to cancel their membership due to poor service received in general or during the refurb. Do better David Lloyd.

Negative experience: Overpriced, overcrowded and shady business practices. After spending nearly £2,000 during a 14 month term at the gym I can confidently say it’s NOT WORTH IT and I’m sure prices are going up! Go to MOVE Urmston instead, better class timetable, more classes for family, baby and toddler sensory, baby swim etc only £37pcm with gym equipment u can track against and clean facilities. At DL you’re paying a ridiculous monthly fee for high spec overcrowded facilities. In my year+ at the gym 1) Everytime I’ve raised a query about my membership it’s been very hard to get through to someone but when I have I’ve been spoken down to almost like staff are already on the defence based on experiences with other members but either way you can’t have that blanket approach towards people. Terrible service. I’ve only had great customer service occasionally from front of house and the sales team when joining. After that they really don’t want to hear from you 2) Be wary of everything you agree to and all the T&Cs there’s a lot of clauses in there that not only make it difficult to leave but may also give them access to your account to take money despite you having no direct debit set up or pre approving the payment. It’s INSANELY invasive they have ANY kind of policy that allows them to do that. Currently looking into this with citizens advice Bearue as I don’t think taking unapproved payments from someone’s account is something they should be allowed to do. The way they’ve termed the permissions to tick to allow them to do that isn’t necessarily phrased in a way you’d initially suspect that’s what they were asking to do either. 3) Be very wary if you ever need to pause your membership because not only will you have to pay like £30pcm while your membership is paused they also add those months back when you want to leave. You have to pause a minimum of two months so they’ll take £60 for that at least then turn your 12 month membership into a 14 month one. Just leaves a very bitter taste forcing people who are ready to move on to be at the gym instead of offering incentives or creating an environment where people would hate to leave. If you get an injury and pause for a couple months you should be allowed to leave in line with the initial term you agreed to. I’ve met so many people in my area who were ONCE at this gym then got fed up. 4) Despite paying premium for a gym there was no incentives or anything offered to people who’s routines were massively disrupted by works going on for months. Not to mention the class timetable is terrible. 5) They want you to pay a child’s membership despite there being next to no classes for new mums or parents with baby’s 0-3. At MOVE another family focused gym, at least they’ve recognised mums are desperate to get out of the house with a workout routine and they made classes to accommodate that without charging ridiculous fees for it. There are just many other family focused gyms out there that are better value for money.

Negative experience: Been an member for a while and all staff being good and helpful until this morning. I jus want to find out for kids swimming pool alternative and get in to conversation with foul-mouthed short curly ginger hair lad at the desk. I ask other girls at the desk do they allow for such answering back from this guy. I left the place shaking biting my tongue. On the way out I did receive sarcastic "have a lovely day" from him. I'm just speechless, very low manners if not big zero from him. Shocking!!!

Fantastic experience: As my preferred gym I've enjoyed going here for the last few years. It's relatively expensive if you only want to go to the gym, however as a health and fitness facility it has a lot to offer families or solo health advocates. The staff are brilliant, helpful and friendly. The facilities are catered to maintain a high class and relaxing, quality experience, from the business suite for working members, to the kids play area for parents that want to train. There's a huge range of classes, PTs to purchase sessions with and studios, the gym, tennis courts, squash courts, swimming pools, and a new Spa being built. This has become part of our family life both for fitness and our children learning sports and staying active.

Fantastic experience: I am a member of David Lloyd Trafford, I can't emphasise enough what an incredible health club this is. It is so much more than a gym. The staff from the welcoming receptionists to the cleaners, cafe staff and instructors have time to say hi to everyone and are always approachable and friendly. The choice and standard of classes is fantastic, the facilities are brilliant but it is the people, staff AND members that make it!

Negative experience: I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the treatment I have consistently received when visiting David Lloyd Clubs other than my home club. Despite holding a Diamond Membership, I have repeatedly been given the worst towels when visiting other locations. This pattern of treatment persisted throughout my membership, regardless of my status as a Diamond Member, which I found both disrespectful and insulting. It is my expectation that all members, regardless of their membership level or the club they are visiting, should be treated with the same level of respect and dignity. Unfortunately, my experiences have consistently contradicted this. When handed an inferior towel, I have often requested a better one, but this ongoing issue made Me not request for a better one today but left me with little choice but leave this review on feed back and post google review too.

Fantastic experience: I recently joined David Lloyd Gym and have been thoroughly impressed with my experience. Since my first visit on Monday, I've been attending daily and have greatly enjoyed the wide range of facilities. The gym itself is well-equipped with modern machines, and I've particularly enjoyed using the treadmill. The sauna is a fantastic way to unwind after a workout, and the morning yoga class I attended was both relaxing and invigorating. Before joining, Cat gave us a tour of the gym, answering every question we had. She was incredibly helpful and friendly, making the decision to join much easier. The cleanliness and modernity of the facilities are outstanding. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, making it a pleasant place to work out. The staff are exceptional, always going the extra mile to ensure a great experience. Special mention to Callum and Joey at the café, who have provided excellent service. Another highlight has been the opportunity for my wife and me to have breakfast together at the gym before work. It's a perfect way to start the day, combining fitness and quality time. I highly recommend joining David Lloyd Gym. With its comprehensive facilities and outstanding service, it caters to all your fitness and relaxation needs.

Fantastic experience: Great club, currently under renovation but the staff have made sure it doesn’t affect the members. Especially those in the cafe are always welcoming and friendly . Especially Rosie who makes the best flat white ! Classes and the gym are welcoming no matter your fitness levels

Negative experience: Extremely disappointing service by DL Trafford. Two adults in the cafe misbehaved with my wife and 8-yr old kid who is terrified and unable to go back to this place where he has Tennis and Swimming classes. See attached DL complaint form on the incident. The written complaint was made 10 days ago on the DL form at reception, but we are yet to receive any written acknowledgement of receipt of the complaint or any update on the outcome of the investigation. Every time I call, I have been told they will look in to it and one manager today has asked me to call back again. Is it not their responsibility to first write an acknowledgement email to the complaint made on the DL form 10 days ago and update us regularly rather than us chasing them? Not professional and responsible admin staff. Do they have a robust complaints procedure in place? We are paying a fortune in membership fees, and this is the service we get. The child is still refusing to go to his classes.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant place to come everyday, I double it as my office space & health place. Kim the manager in the club room is an absolute superstar as well she keeps the whole club ticking and friendly, get her to CEO! Jake is a legend too :) Brilliant family club , great for kids during half term - Also the Temp gym is a good thought while they are having a big refurb on the main gym, can't wait for that :)
