Park Plaza Cardiff

Positive experience: Location very ideal city centre,beautiful inside. Ramp access.Staff who welcomed me she was lovely. I filled out a fire evac form and instructed I’d need help from my room being in a wheelchair with a Dissability. I was looking forward to staying in such a lovely accessible room. However,Red cords were tied up. I’m so so glad for my own safety I wasn’t alone because I called the bedroom red cord and no one answered even when staff had been made aware of my vulnerability disability noted as I checked in. This put me in a very unsafe environment dangerous. I had to call someone from home to come help and I left the establishment immediately for my safety was not considered even when my friend said at reception that I pulled the red cord no one proceeded to act or react to help. I have had contact with parc plaza to inform them and make suggestions and got an apology thank you…but I would test all safety precautions in room for a response when you check in before it’s too late. I really hope the suggestions for safety are implemented for future reservations of those who need access to it please, Thank you.

Negative experience: I came for Sunday lunch with a group of friends, we waited one and a half hours for our first course. Then I had chosen lamb shank, thinking it would have been slow cooked so the meat fell off the bone - not so. It was very tough and I couldn't get it off the bone, so ended up with the mash, which was nice, and a few vegetables and then a pudding. Whatever you choose, avoid the lamb shank.

Negative experience: Really disappointing. Stayed for a business trip. Heating and AC in the room didn’t work. Ordered room service at 6:50pm for 8pm delivery to the room. It didn’t arrive until 20:45 despite calling to chase at 20:15 and being told it would be 5 minutes. Tray charge removed and free drink, but this is not acceptable. Pool is OK but plunge pool broken, and no shower gel in the showers (empty pump dispensers in all showers - I tried them all). This was a first visit with a view to more regular stays, but will be avoiding and recommending others do the same.

Negative experience: Spa and gym facilities are the worst in Cardiff. Rusty metal, broken machines, slime in the steam room, cracked tiles in the showers, filthy dirty. Really poor. Photo is a 'repair' to one of the machines. They've literally replaced the padding with paint rollers and stapled it back together. Nothing but excuses from the team.

Positive experience: I recently stayed on a weekend. The hotel location is great, very central. On arrival the air con console wasn’t working, so we contacted reception. Nothing happened but we were promised an engineer when we spoke to the front desk. There was no resolution to the problem. We Went for a drink in the bar but the service was virtually non existent. The bar was filthy and had to wait at an empty bar for a long time. Definitely not worth the price or meeting expectations.

Negative experience: When I arrived (29.09.24), I was constantly interrupted by other members of staff. The bedroom was cold and the thermostat was not working. I had the worst breakfast ever, which I paid for and asked for a VAT receipt and was not given one. The room (especially the bathroom) was not sparkling. I stayed again on 13.10.24 and the stay was marginally better, but there was hair in the bath tub and the lamp (and other places) had what looked like decades of dust on it. Pretty filthy. The below response does not address the issues. Such a shambles!

Positive experience: We stopped here for 1 night 10/10/24 as part of Christmas present we was gifted. The ladies in the spa were fabulous and super helpful and courteous. We was told before our arrival if the hot tub been out of action would be a problem and for me and my wife it was not. So communication was very good. There is a very spacious steam room, just a shame for me personally no sauna but no biggy. I didn't quite have time to use the gym but it was very clean and well stocked with different equipment. The lockers are narrow but very big so you can fit a lot in there. Our massages were very good and the quiet rest room is excellent. Maybe a thing to improve is maybe just add some snacks, i.e fruit/nuts that sort of thing. When we headed for dinner on the night we did find it to be very cold. As we had booked via the spa we had a limited menu to choose from which again is not a problem. The food was okay, nothing special. We had a chicken ceaser salad and then a Eton mess as one dessert and the chefs special chocolate mousse. Mousse was chocolatey but not very light for a mousse, more a brownie mousse. Drink selection was very good and a lot to offer. Drinks did take a while to come maybe 10 minutes or so but once we ordered food that did come fast enough. My wife informs me the ladies toilets were not taken care of or checked on as 1 didn't have loo roll and 1 had been left blocked up. I found the men's toilets to be clean and in good working order. Although down in the sauna section 1 of the men's toilets was out of order. Breakfast was okay and nothing amazing. Lots on offer but some things didn't feel as fresh as they could be and the yoghurt tasted very cheap. The pot of tea that came to our table with no tea bags in so it tasted like water and brewed no where near enough. Every table had been given milk with there hot drinks but we had to ask or we had been forgotten about. We also had to ask for spoons to have a cereal/yoghurt. I'd say for breakfast attention to detail was not very good. Our room which was located on the 1st floor was absolutely fine and no major complaints apart from my wife was a little annoyed that there was no conditioner in the room but there was shampoo and body wash. The bed was very comfy along with the pillows. As a trades person looking around the hotel it does feel like in some areas money needs to be spent on it to improve things as it feels a little tired now. Certain areas I saw that had been painted the person who had done it clearly didn't care as there was paint all around the window frame and just poor filling in skills. Of other hotels I've stopped in around Cardiff it probably isn't one I would stop at again personally. Final note staff we encountered were all lovely and you felt welcomed.

Negative experience: Do Not Book Here! I had a bracelet taken from my room and the hotel took no ownership for it even though the only person who had been in my room was the maid! Real shame after how much a night cost! When I spoke to Jeremy to resolve this I was told it was unlucky and made no attempt to help the situation would not recommend this hotel to anyone. We arrived at 3pm (check in time) but the room wasn’t ready and had to wait with all our luggage until the room was ready, the room was dated the only nice thing about it was the bed! A premier inn is much nicer room and service

Fantastic experience: One of the best afternoon teas my friends and I have ever had .Friends had the Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea and I had the afternoon tea, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. We enjoyed every mouthful. Great service, great central location. we can't wait to go back. Only suggestion is It should be called a savoury afternoon tea instead of Gentleman’s afternoon tea, and the parking in the NCP Carpark opposite is very expensive even for Cardiff.

Positive experience: The hotel isn't the most visible, but it's a nicely placed location near the centre. It's not a noisy location (but we stayed mid-week) and we had a room on the street side. My guess is that you might get noise from the clubs and bars on the weekend, if you have the windows open, but not if you keep them shut. We were on the top floor and the room was a little bit too warm, this is a common problem in hotels, the air conditioning just doesn't cut it. the sockets need USB connections by the bed ideally, it seems like a simple oversight. The pool and spa are great and the breakfast was well managed. It's a shame about the room temperature but otherwise it was a good place to stay.

Positive experience: Don’t bother paying for the upgrade for the “views over City Hall” because you don’t get them (even if you’re on top floor according to the manager as the “trees have grown”). She admitted the pictures on their own website are outdated yet couldn’t help with refunding the difference or offering any other resolution. We thought we’d add a little extra on to our anniversary trip but it’s absolutely not worth it - save yourself the extra cost. Rooms are pretty basic and the bed isn’t comfy - it’s a 3 star at best. Disappointing compared to other Park Plazas

Negative experience: The front desk staff are incredibly rude and need to learn how to approach and speak with customers and the general public. I have travelled all over the world and I am ashamed to say my home city has a place like this.

Negative experience: A very disappointed stay. I booked a "superior room" but on arrival was told I had booked a twin room. I didn't think so and after checking all the confirmations everything said superior room with no mention of twin. The notes even said a large bed. We were put in a different room as this was all that was left but was not up to 5 star standards. Lots of things that need replacing or improving. The bed kept sliding from the wall, I managed to put a big chair at the end to slow this. Gym and spa average. Huge queue to check out too long to wait and complain. 2 lifts which mean you wait for too long and when they come they are full. Better 4 star hotels to use would be my advice

Fantastic experience: Visited the Laguana Kitchen & Bar within Park Plaza Hotel for Afternoon Sea (all Seafood Items) & were not disappointed. All items tasted exceptionally good & we thought it was EXCELLENT value for the £20pp we paid.

Positive experience: Only stayed the one night, so not much to comment on. Room nice and spacious, though front facing and opposite Yates, so was a bit noisy. The entrance is not very welcoming to be honest, but location was good.

Negative experience: The location of this hotel is great. The amenities at this hotel are not only for guests. They have a membership so the pool, hot tub, and steam room was always packed. We only used the amenities once. I reserved the room with breakfast thinking it was a full ordering service, but it is just a continental breakfast. I asked if my room rate could be adjusted without the breakfast. We only ate breakfast there once. If you decide to book here do not book with breakfast you can pay for it once you are there. As for service the receptionists are nice, but I have been requesting a detailed invoice. They charged me a 3.99% because they say it is a fee from my bank. My bank says they shouldn't have charged that fee because it covered by my membership. DO NOT BOOK HERE.

Negative experience: We stayed at the hotel for a few days. The location is good, close to the town center. However, we found cleanliness issues in the room and kitchen that could be concerning for health. Some staff members were friendly, but others were too "professional" and unwelcoming. We were very disappointed because the description and reviews didn't match our experience. Also, the double window “design” made it hard to get fresh air. **answer** Finding stains, including blood, on the duvet is not a matter of perspective when it comes to cleanliness. This was reported via email, and the surrounding area was also unclean.

Positive experience: Just to be clear my scoring system: 1/ Don't go, just don't. 2/ I can't recommend going 3/ I enjoyed it but probably won't go back 4/ I enjoyed it, would go back especially if invited but would probably look elsewhere myself first. 5/ I enjoyed it, would invite/recommend others there myself On a business trip... Hotel clean and tidy and staff friendly and helpful. Really, it should earn a 4 or 5 by my rating system... But the gym/pool doesn't open til 0700 - nor breakfast. And closed at 2100. If you're on a business trip like I was that leaves very little time to get a workout and breakfast before you start your day. Whilst I can understand the pool being closed, most hotels of this ilk these days have 24 hour gyms now. (I'm told it was a nice gym by people who got there early the day before - I ended up going for a run instead). So, if you're on a holiday trip and can afford a slow start, great hotel. If you're on business and want to use the leisure facilities or need an early start? I'd look elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: My original room had a fault in the air conditioning. Without any fuss, I was upgraded to a junior suit. Very comfortable, very large bed and a bath!

Positive experience: Massive buffet breakfast. Lovely shower in the bathroom. The heating in the room didn't work. I wasn't too bothered about this as I prefer a cooler bedroom but my partner would have liked some heating at times. I would have liked maybe a heated towel rail in the bathroom.

We used the pool and spa facilities which we felt were a bit tired and needed a re-vamp. Had a wonderful massage with Janina. Would highly recommend Janina. A lovely lady who made me feel really relaxed, fantastic massage and encouraged me to let me know if pressure was not right. Had no qualms in speaking out. Left feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and inspired. Would definitely go back! Room was spacious and comfortable too! ❤️

Negative experience: Really bad experience with receptionist, we had a 2.5 year old child with us and did not allow us to check in until 1501!!!! the room was ready hours ago but the receptionist was condescending and rude and couldnt care less. If you are Business traveler or have family avoid!! Really bad experience on arrival, it kind of destroyed the whole stay. When we finally manage to check in room was old, furniture full with stains, same with bathroom tiles and carpet. Considering the price (i used almost all my points 95.000) as i booked the suite it doesnt worth it. It was clean but really dated. Breakfast was ok, nothing special. Spa was super nice. Overall i wouldnt recommend, i have been working in tourism industry for 15 year and have worked in hotels in the past and you really need some training to your stuff for good customer service. (the girl that ended up checking us in was really nice and helpful).

Fantastic experience: Stayed here over the Easter weekend. The staff were amazing. Shout out to George the restaurant manager, went out of his way to make our stay great and the DJ in the bar. Even leant us his own set of playing cards. Rooms nice and location great

Fantastic experience: One of the best afternoon teas my girlfriend and I have ever had (Chocolate Afternoon Tea) we can't wait to go back and try the Gentleman's Afternoon Tea asap.

Negative experience: Upon arrival the hotel looks contemporary and stylish however the rooms are not reflective of this initial impression. The air-con didn’t work properly in the first room, attempts to turn it off centrally failed so we were given a different room. The general decoration and furniture was equally as dated, worn and generally miserable as the first however the air-con was turned off. The additional portable electric radiator leads me to believe it wasn’t working at all. The shower of the second room broke on the first morning, though the watered down ‘amenities’ from half broken dispensers hardly make you want to spend much time bathing. The staff were helpful and did what they could to assist. Would I describe this is an ‘upscale hotel’ absolutely not. Save your money and disappointment and book elsewhere.

Positive experience: Hotel is okay for the price, quality wise. The noise from Yates and the other bars right opposite my room (418) kept me awake until 1am, with loud bass music which was very disturbing - not a great night sleep at all. I wouldn't stay again unfortunately.

Fantastic experience: Very comfortable room to stay, good bed, duvet and lighting. I had dinner at Laguna Restaurant, it was brilliant. They give you discount to park your car in NCP, it’s still expensive, maybe there’s other place to park and cheaper, we didn't have time to explore.

Welcome Fit for a King (or Lazy Traveler): The staff greeted me like I was their long-lost BFF, even though I couldn't be bothered to ask for a room with a view. Lazy wins again! Gym Time Warp: The gym was like a blast from the past with its vintage equipment, but hey, it did the job. Who needs fancy gadgets when you've got determination, right? Pool Party: The swimming pool was basically a warm, watery hug. I could've stayed there forever if it weren't for those pesky wrinkles. Sauna and Jacuzzi Bliss: The sauna and jacuzzi were like the dynamic duo of relaxation. I'm pretty sure I achieved zen status in there. Food Frenzy: The menu had more options than my brain could handle, but as a veggie lover, I had to venture outside for some leafy goodness. Good thing there were food joints galore nearby! Cookie Craze: Those cookies with tea were like tiny bites of heaven. I swear I must've begged for more with the desperation of a kid who lost their candy. Bathroom Sanctuary: The bathroom was basically my personal spa retreat. Hot water, a bathtub made for soaking, and enough fluffy towels to build a fort – what more could a tired traveler ask for? Breakfast Bonanza: Breakfast was the highlight of my mornings, especially the British breakfast. I was tempted to propose to the chef, but I settled for a heartfelt "thank you" instead. In summary: This hotel gets a big thumbs up from me. It's like a home away from home, but with better cookies and a jacuzzi. Can't ask for much more than that, folks!

Fantastic experience: I thought I had written my review of this place but apparently I haven't! Better late than never as they say. After careful consideration, we have come to the conclusion that this is the best hotel we've ever stayed at in forty years of traveling. The quality of the room and the bathroom was excellent. The size of the room was exemplary. I had plenty of room to work. The thing that really made it for us though was the quality of the breakfast, which is included. We stayed for two weeks, which is a long time to stay in a hotel. The variety of food that was available for breakfast kept us more than happy for the whole time. As an added bonus, there was a fitness center attached to the hotel that was a real gym. Like getting a free membership for a full fitness club. I'm now remembering that I have written this before. Well, if it's a duplicate review too bad.

Fantastic experience: Spent a night at the hotel for my partner’s birthday. Great hotel and service. Quick check in, rooms spotless with plenty of amenities. Spa facilities were great and they let us use the spa after we checked out which was a nice touch. Great breakfast with plenty of options for all. Location bang smack in the centre of the city and within walking distance of shops, bars, restaurants etc.

Fantastic experience: I stayed in this hotel with my sister on the 22nd of February for one night and we were very happy with everything. Room was lovely and clean, comfortable beds. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The pool and spa were great. Excellent breakfast with so much choice. Could not fault anything, will definitely stay here again.

Fantastic experience: For the past 5 days I have been holed up in this lovely hotel as my house was under some renovation that required me to be away. I have had an amazing time and staff looked after me really well. Nicely scented rooms with perfect showers.

Positive experience: Second visit to the hotel. This occassion the room seemed to be a smaller room than previous. We were on the 4th floor and was very noisy, with doors banging most of the night and early in the morning with staff cleaning rooms early too. Heating in the room was not great and had obviously been brought up before as there was an electric heater left in the room. Cleaning standards not great. Sink was covered in water marks and white stains where it hadn't been scrubbed clean. Dust and cobwebs around the room also. Glasses and cups not very clean and looked more to have been wiped rather than washed clean. Staff helpful on arrival and welcoming. Breakfast was of good quality with plenty on offer, from the usual full English to continental buffet with cereals, fruits etc. Would visit again but perhaps would look out for a discount or offer rather than full price booking.

Fantastic experience: Really lovely hotel in the centre of Cardiff, the National museum is just a stones throw away. Gentlemen's afternoon tea was delicious, as was breakfast. We loved the complimentary pool visit and the late checkout time (12pm) which meant we could really enjoy our second day without the mad rush of cramming in breakfast and packing! Favourite place to stay in Cardiff this far!

Fantastic experience: Nice hotel in the centre of Cardiff. The room is a really good size and it is very quiet. The gym at the hotel is surprisingly good. It's set over two floors and there's lots of equipment (the equipment is quite old but it's still decent quality). There's also a pool and a spa. Really recommended this place when visiting Cardiff.

Positive experience: Room was rather cold, though a portable heater was supplied. All staff were very friendly and the food at LKB was beautiful. We ate off the residents menu and it didn't disappoint. The quality of the food was the highlight of the stay. Spa facilities were ok; womens changing room only has one cubicle with no wet dry area separation and the Pool side is very slippery- get slippers. The mud massage was wonderful - worth booking!

Positive experience: The hotel is quite centrally located and main shopping area within walking distance. The room was large and well equipped. The superior room we had a small table with only one arm chair which was rather bulky and the other one was just an ordinary chair. We dined at the restaurant which served the Sunday menu and had great choice and reasonably priced. The staff was excellent and accommodating both for the dinner and the breakfast buffet. The pool and the spa area with a jacuzzi and steam room which were adequate. Would definitely recommend this place as the stay and dining experience was very pleasant.

Negative experience: 3rd visit in 4 months appalling this time. Poor reception staff (rushing and lack of focus) Wrong room had to change Noisey Room poorly maintained (wood block holding toilet up, mould in shower, kettle not working) And to cap off Member of cleaning team walks straight in to deliver water with Airpods on a video call while wife in Bath and myself laying on bed The poorest standard visit I've had, nothing made of the complaints at the desk just the token gift of a sorry to here that. Poor appalling Park plaza Cardiff whats happened to your customer service.

Positive experience: Good venue for a works Xmas party. They were around 1 hour later preparing the room which was a bit of a pain , but the service once in there was excellent.

Positive experience: Stayed a few times now, great sized rooms even the "smaller" ones, plenty big and bathrooms are generous size as well. Recent stay I was upgraded to a suite, they are huge, I was travelling solo so rattled around in the room. Room was spotless and clean, minor issue in bathroom but overall 95% room service clearly looking after the rooms. Let down by the shabby looking corridor I had to traverse which was littered with hotel paraphernalia, walls that could use more than a lick of paint and doors that I likely need a tetanus shot after touching (I alcohol gel cleaned afterwards)....real shame given the room was so clean and tidy. Reception were great as well, super efficient, pleasant, polite and professional at check-in and check-out. I didn't grab photos but I would stay again as the location is amazing for sure.

Negative experience: This was the first time I had to leave a hotel one hour after checking in. My partner has booked a one night stay for a romantic get away in this, what was supposed to be a 4 star spa hotel. We arrived late afternoon last night, the 19th Nov 2023. The room isteslf was quite nice, but it smelt of chlorine. I assumed it was due to the spa facilities located on the same floor. There was quite a lot of outside noise coming to our room too, because of the fair across the street. Chlorine smell and noise didn't bother us too much at this point as we were excited to relax in a jacuzzi. So we dropped our bags off and headed to the spa. Changing rooms were very dull and basic, more like the ones you get in cheap gyms. It was quite busy and I quickly realised that, in fact it is also open for the public members of the hotels' gym. Spa facilities were even worse. Firstly, we noticed that there was no hot water in the showers. Steam room was filthy and the grout on the tiled seating area was so yellow, it was disgusting. A lot of the tiles were missing and the whole atmosphere was depressing. Like all the other teviews say, the Jacuzzi was just about the size to fit 4 people so we had to wait. When we did finally go in, I imidiately regreted it, as my eyes started watering. The chlorine was so bad that it was stinging our eyes. We were not enjoying it so after 20minutes of this horrible experience we decided to leave the spa. I tried having a shower in the changing rooms to wash the chlorine off, but there was no hot water. We went to complain and make the reception aware of how bad it was. To our surprise, the hotel manager suggested there was nothing wrong with the facilities and he disregarded our complains. He didn't even apologise for our bad experience. Instead, he said that we can leave if we aren't happy. So we packed our bags and asked for a refund. The manager then had the arogance to ask us pay for the spa facilities. The facilities we have just complained about. We booked a room at Leonardo hotel 2 minutes walk down the road in even better location for nearly half the parice and with a fantastic customer service.

Fantastic experience: I only stayed one night but would definitely stay again. It’s a lovely welcoming atmosphere . Great rooms and breakfast. The staff were extremely helpful and kind. I particularly wanted to mention Daniela Tone and her male Co worker on the night shift. Apologies I didn’t get his name. They were helpful when I had managed to lose some belongings. All turned out ok thanks to them and their patience and understanding.

Positive experience: This hotel in one word: TIRED! Room 312 large corner with seating area Interior very drabby with predominant colour of brown and grey. View of window to bins down below and side street Bed comfortable. Pillow smelt of Boyd odour / smells of previous guest. Toilet large with tub, shower. Water pressure low. Room was warm during the heat wave in early sep but no aircon so was give a fan Instead. Breakfast- cooked ok, croissant and fruits are good. Coffee terrible. Gym, large and good. Pool is large but overcrowded from guest and external gym members and very hot when they was the September heat wave, jacuzzi too small and could only fit 4 person comfortably. Noise was not an issue but as the rooms were facing the park, was quiet. Only disruptive noise was the flushing of the toilets

Fantastic experience: Didn't stay here as I live locally, but it has become a regular Sunday lunch spot at the Laguna restaurant. They do a great 3 course lunch for £29.95. Food is always really good and the service is faultless.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic stuff went for the speedway gp the hotel was right by the fan zone and 10 minutes walk to the stadium. The spar was lovely and breakfast was good with helpful stuff.

Positive experience: If the review was based just on the rooms it would get one star. However the restaurant is excellent and the gym is one of the best hotel gym and pools I've seen. The gym has two levels and a great mix of cardio and weights. It's tough between 3 stars or 4. The room smelt a bit musty (122). I asked if any rooms have a bit more fresh air and was offered a fan or air freshener (not sure how that would help). Not offered an alternative room. Anyway it seems the smell is a combination of bathroom mould, sweat smelling pillows and generally poor standards of cleaning (the carpet has no indication of having been hoovered, there's dust everywhere, filthy mirrors and tooth paste and water stains around the sink). Photos all attached to this review. The room needs a deep clean before being used (without artificial airfresheners to mask poor standards).

Negative experience: Very poor. As a regular Radisson guest I am used to top rate service at their many hotels. I asked for a double room and was given twin singles, which reception declined to change even though I asked daily over our stay. We were also given a room right opposite a nightclub which made it difficult to sleep. Would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Enjoyed our 2 night stay here. We were considerately put at the back of the hotel to avoid the nightclub noise and the room was really nice. Clean, high ceilings, quiet, with a comfy bed. We ate in the restaurant on our first night and food and service were great. Highly recommend the Lamb rack. My only criticism was that the Aircon wasn't working in the room but there was a fan supplied which was quiet. Otherwise I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Negative experience: Hotel was nice. Breakfast service was slow. Had to ask 3 times for milk. Went swimming in the hotel, and my slippers got stolen.

Fantastic experience: We had a great stay with friendly staff. The breakfast was delicious, and they serve hot chocolate, but you do have to ask for it, but its available. The spa facilities were lovely and I enjoyed the swimming pool.

Positive experience: Stayed here for my wife's birthday, booked a superior room with birthday package and flowers in the room. Check in was easy and the room was big and clean. Would recommend staying here but would not recommend adding extras to the room. The flowers I paid £35 for were the smallest bunch of flowers I've seen, and to add insult to injury still had the £13 price tag still on them from M&S. When questioned the receptionists words were 'we need to make money to go to the shop to get them'. I understand they need to mark them up but nearly 200% seems a bit steep.

Fantastic experience: Had the 3 course Sunday lunch menu at the Laguna restaurant Park Plaza today and it was fantastic. Lovely plentiful dishes, great service, nice atmosphere and great value for money.

Fantastic experience: This is one of the best hotels in Cardiff City Centre. Very comfortable, friendly staff, and efficient service. There is a gym and good swimming pool-I guess about 20 M, although a bit narrow and with structurally essential columns down the middle. Good restaurant if you are eating in and breakfast is excellent. Very comfortable bedding. Right opposite the Greyfriars NCP, so there is paid parking just over the road. I think there is a discount available. Cardiff is an extremely lively City. There is external noise at night time, so if this is an issue for you, mention it when booking and I’m sure they will give you a room not on street side if they can. I’ve never really been bothered by happy Cardiff folk singing in the early hours. Having said this, sadly COVID seems to have done for the bar and nightclub opposite the front of the hotel!

Positive experience: Great stay with hearty breakfast. Great size room but a bit dated. No USB ports and bath could have done with replacing. Facilities worth the stay

Positive experience: Nice hotel, lovely spa, friendly staff and good breakfast. Big, clean & modern room but noise levels were horrendous throughout my 3-night stay resulting in limited sleep - not ideal for a work trip. Bad timing due to events (football match & various concerts) and can't really be helped due to central location, but when making a reservation I'd recommend asking for a quiet room that faces away from the busy bar strip!

Positive experience: Called in for the Hendricks Afternoon Tea, which was decent enough, but nothing particularly special. The scones were tasty and the gin cocktail was refreshing, but the sandwiches were a little bland and the sweet selection was underwhelming in terms of quality. The staff, however, were friendly and helpful. We were sat in the busy bar area rather than the restaurant/terrace area, which took away from the experience. It all felt a bit rushed and casual. I don't think it's particularly good value given the setting and the quality of food.

Positive experience: Upgraded room because it was too small,but the room they put us in had a night club opposite with music blaring till early hours. Apart from that great room lovely bathroom and facilities

Fantastic experience: Room was lovely and the bed was huge and so comfortable. A little let down by the view from our room (scaffolding) but the lovely lady Sara on reception tried to help with a move but unfortunately they were fully booked for the night. Sara even hand delivered a birthday card and cake to the room to wish me a happy birthday which was incredibly thoughtful of her, thank you!! Breakfast was also amazing with so much choice. Will definitely be returning.

Fantastic experience: Great hotel. Room was very clean, big, bathroom was clean and spacious too. I enjoyed the pool in the SPA. Good choice of food for breakfast. Would stay again!

Positive experience: Nice hotel with decent facilities and well maintained rooms in central Cardiff. Only downside is it’s physical location, opposite a number of clubs and bars that are exceptionally noisy late at night especially at closing time in the early hours causing disruption to sleeping possibilities.

Positive experience: Really nice hotel in a perfect location to explore Cardiff. Plenty of pubs and restaurants near by. The hotel itself is lovely, the rooms are clean. The only downfall was our room was right across from a nightclub which stayed open until about 4am, so if you like sleep I wouldn't stay here lol.

Fantastic experience: Booked 3 tables for my daughter's 21st birthday, 19 of us having a mixture of traditional & gentlemen's afternoon tea. Food was great, service was fantastic, special mention for George who made the whole event even better by making sure everything was just right.

Negative experience: The Park Plaza hotel is ideally located near Cardiff Castle and close to lots of amenities such as bars, resturants and a shopping centre together with bus stops with easy access to the T4 which can take you up to the Brecon Beacons. The hotel building is in need of a refresh, this was evident from the outside and look at the first and second floor windows. Upon entry to the hotel there is plenty of seating and good lighting. The staff were very friendly and pleasant. Breakfast is served at reasonable times in the morning and the staff working there, again, wrre very friendly and punctual. Whilst there was alot on offer at the breakfast buffet, the quality wasn't what I would expect of a 4* hotel and could do with better quality foods. The gym facilities were ideal for my purposes and there is plenty of equipment in there to do almost any workout! Sadly, the room was the worst part of the experience and was lacking in nearly all aspects, again, not what I would expect of a 4* hotel. The pictures do some of the talking but other things such as a phone was missing from the room so we couldn't order any room service, the room was dusty in places and overall disappointing, not least the noise from outside which went on until at least 1am which kept us up (clubs and bars) (yes, the windows were closed). 2/5* is generous .

Fantastic experience: Fantastic from start to finish! I accidentally booked a room for 1 instead of 2 and with fantastic humour they sorted my error out. The spa facilities are gorgeous. We didn't eat there but the bar was open until late so our catch up with friends only ended when we were ready. Already booked a return catch up for next year!

Positive experience: Stayed at the hotel for a business travel during the 6 nations 2023 Rugby England vs. Wales match weekend. The overall experience was great, location is brilliant; short walk away from the castle, Cardiff rugby stadium, shopping centre and other tourist destinations. Full range of breakfast offered from 07:30 - 10:30 daily and can be booked in advance for £10 if not included in the room price. Staff was excellent and offered a great service, room heating wasn’t working properly, they offered a portable radiator instead and were readily available to resolve issues. The only issue was the room which was a bit small as can be seen in the picture. The stated check in time was 14:00 however thanks to the wonderful team at the reception, they offered for an early check in at 11:30 after a long train Journey from London. 5 for the Hotel staff!!

Positive experience: Love this hotel. Location is great and staff very friendly. Can be a bit noisy due to the clubs nearby until early hours, so don't book if you plan an early night! Bit we didn't so it was great.

Positive experience: Paid £112 for bed and breakfast on a bank holiday Sunday which on reflection was decent value for money. Hotel is well situated close to the city centre with all amenities. Be aware the hotel does not have its own car park but there is a multi storey NCP opposite in which you can get a 25% discount through the hotel. Hotel is around a 10 minute stroll from the railway station. Check in was efficient but not overly friendly. Lobby of hotel is well fitted out but very dark. Only 1 lift in operation during our visit. We stayed in room 418 which overlooks Greyfriars Road and I would strongly caution against a room on this side of the hotel if you prefer peace and quiet. There are two nightclubs situated below and despite the double windows some noise still filters through. The room was large and clean, but felt a little dated and Corporate. 32 inch TV small by today's standards. Bed was huge and comfortable. For some reason there was only one bedside table and lamp? Bathroom was clean and well fitted but water lukewarm at around 9.15am. We used the leisure facilities and enjoyed the jacuzzi and the swimming pool. The steam room was a nice touch but the tiling needed some attention and could do with a light as it was very dark. Pool might be a bit cold for some but I found it refreshing. Lots of loungers for sitting and relaxing. Breakfast was average and a little chaotic. Again the room is very dark with little natural light. No coffee/ hot chocolate machines, no Pain au Chocolat, hot food served from the hatch. Staff were friendly but a bit rushed. Overall 3/5. Street facing rooms too noisy for us and the hotel/ room decor could do with updating.

Fantastic experience: Just stayed in a superior, tree lined room. Huge bed & room. Great staff. Fab location for New Theatre. Used 12 O clock check out to go early shopping before leaving bags with concierge then collecting with car later. Spa is a good amenity. Great breakfast. Do go

Positive experience: We went for mother's Day Sunday lunch, the wait time for food was extremely long even for mother's day. It didn't seem like there was any structure to the management of tables. We missed our third course as we had to leave to travel home. A good hour between each course.

Positive experience: Okay hotel in the centre of Cardiff. Useful for the Castle, Museum etc. The rooms are okay but nothing special. The public areas are beginning to get tatty with cracked floors in the lift, faded please pictures and all a bid dowdy. The service could do with some improvement. A tray from room service was in the corridor when we arrived in the afternoon and still there after we left. The breakfast is reasonably priced at £12.50 for such a hotel, it is a buffet style. The bar food is also reasonably priced and okay quality. Drinks prices are not too bad, about £5 per pint.

Fantastic experience: I had afternoon tea at Laguna with my daughter for Mothering Sunday. Fantastic service and lovely food. Toilets were very clean and checked regularly.

Positive experience: First of all the staff were amazing, they went above and beyond with a request to make the room romantic adding petals and brownies as well as swapping out our coffee for hot chocolate. The view wasn't great with the multi story car park opposite us but that was expected. The hotel itself was beautiful, very cosy atmosphere. The pool was salty as mentioned in other reviews and quite busy but we still had a lovely time.

Positive experience: We booked the Dinner, Bed and Breakfast Sunday Spa Break. Had a lovely time using the swimming pool and steam room. Unfortunately the jacuzzi was out of order but the facilities here are excellent. The staff are very polite and friendly. Then had a lovely massage and used the relaxation room which overlooks some lovely trees. Then it was time to go for our three course dinner, included in the package, which we both really enjoyed. We then had a stroll around the city. Cardiff Castle is very impressive and only a 5 minute walk away. The room allocated to us was incredibly spacious, peaceful and excellently equipped. We would highly recommend this hotel and spa.

Positive experience: Very nice city centre hotel. Staff polite and friendly. The hotel was a little tired however very clean with nice decor. The standard double room we stayed in was a good size with a comfortable bed and pillows. The room was a little cold despite turning up the heating for a good few hours. It was a ten minute walk to the motorpoint arena via the city centre making ut ideal for food, shopping and attending that venue for events. Overall I would stay here again.

Fantastic experience: Great city centre location for the new theatre, shopping even a few bars and restaurants within a 30 second walk! or even if you are a government worker (building is opposite) or winter wonderland when its there. Rooms are huge. Impressively high ceilings give the sense of a lot more room, clean and seem well kept. Tea coffee and even biscuits. Friendly service and fresh cooked breakfast. Pool is in the basement not sure if it was a car park with huge columns in the pool which will cut down on the use if its busy. Overall definitely stay again.
