KAL - Colne Valley Leisure Centre

Fantastic experience: I love Colne Valley Leisure Centre. I've been attending lots of different classes for just over a year and my mental and physical health have improved greatly. The instructors are professional, supportive and make their classes fun.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic community gym and leisure centre. The gym has been refurbished a year ago and it's well equipped. Plenty of classes for all. levels. Membership is reasonable also.

Negative experience: Disappointed!!!! I arrived at the gym not sure weather it was open. It looked dark inside there was no one at the door the white striped widows made it look taped up. Anyway the changing rooms and gym its self are brill but didn't see a member of staff the whole hour in thr gym... After across the way to the pool not a warm welcome but at least someone on desk changing room nice showers lockers good nicely set out i felt more confident. Omg i went out to pool the pool its self was like something from a 1 star hotel in the 80s poor filter system loads of pieces of polystyrene in pool racked filthy tiles mould and mildew the pool had really sloppy repIrs with different materials in need of grouting and a good Clean around the pool area dirty lifeguard seats tipped of all kinds of thi gs floats and noodles just piled up every rusty bars it looks nothing like pictures like a junk yard. The music was Kylie and Jason on repeat i thought i was on a really bad spainish holiday in the off season. The two lifeguards look like they had lost the will to live. In comparison to huddersfield or holmfirth kal gyms which i go its a big big let down.

Positive experience: My brother and his wife and myself took my nephew swimming here for swimming lessons as part of his regular lessons here. Nice little swimming pool. Its alright.

Fantastic experience: My little boy started swimming lessons a few weeks ago here at CV leisure. He's in the stage 1 group & the instructor is great. He's really enjoying learning. Look forward to watching him progress.

Negative experience: Having used the gym for a number of years I feel the customer care is awful, having closed the gym at Lockwood you are now limited to use an overcrowded gym at the sports centre where you have to pay additional parking costs on top of (£30 a month)or slawit which is tiny, I have recently had an operation and treatment for cancer, and spoke to the gym about placing my membership on hold longer until I was well enough, this request was met with a strict NO I feel the way they have treated me is shocking, looking after people and there health should be number 1 priority and these lot don’t care…I won’t be using them again…much cheaper and better alternatives about…no wonder the council is in such a state

Positive experience: Went to "Bums, legs and tums" session. Cost was £6.90 and worth every penny.

Negative experience: Gym facilities are decent for a local gym, but speaking with other gym goers we’re all a bit sick of some of the staff. The gym itself rarely has anyone about if you need any help, you have to go to the reception in the other building. Most of them sit in the staff room and I’ve seen people knock on the door to get help. When there are staff in the gym, they’re either using the machines, or stood flirting with each other in the doorway. A particular two (a young lad and lass) always use the machines while in Kal uniform (so I assume in works time) and I’ve noticed a few times people getting annoyed when the gym is full and two staff are taking up a machine while flirting/drooling over each other. Pretty annoying, get some proper staff. My wife cancelled her membership a few months ago because it was too much.

Positive experience: Gym is fine but clientele are a little strange. One older man shouted at me in the changing rooms for using deodorant after a shower! Fed this back to management but had no reply regarding this.

Fantastic experience: Staff at Colne valley excellent, centre very good. Staff at KAL contact centre absolutely shocking and discriminatory

Positive experience: Played badminton here and it's a great venue but lights could do with improving

Negative experience: The incompetent bunch of dimwits that are kirklees have closed the swimming baths.

Fantastic experience: Am in Slaithwaite on holiday. Just visited the gym today (11/05/21) as a guest. The ladies on reception couldn't have been more helpful. Was signed in and escorted to the gym in a matter of minutes. The gym was really well organised. Fully COVID secure. Great cardio and functional kit including a full range of kettlebells. Had a great workout. Will be back again whilst I am here.

Fantastic experience: Great centre, great staff. They have a small gym but it has everything you need and they have a seperate spin studio. The large hall is great for all the exercise classes and they are always busy so there is a great atmosphere. Recommend!

Positive experience: I do love the place, but lately ive not been able to come anywhere near as much as I did, this os due to how hot it is in there, its unbearable to do a workout in that heat. I was told the heating cannot be turned down as its set, if this is the case, i suggest some large fans by the machines. Im just paying to not be able to come at the moment, such a shame.

Fantastic experience: Good stuff, great value for money, decent enough facilities - plenty of car parking. Staff are friendly and helpful, great with kids. The facilities are a little dated in places, but all good. Staff are all very young, plenty of parking.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic trainers for the fitness classes in the sports hall. Very professional; great routines that really push you; and very knowledgeable / helpful. I'd totally recommend the classes for anyone of any ability that wants to improve their fitness.

Positive experience: The pool is very busy but well maintained, and the staff friendly. Across the car park is the gym and fitness halls. The gym is small but so far I have been able to get on machines with no waiting. The car park is really busy as peak times but as I live 2 mins away this is not a problem I have to encounter. All in all definately worth a visit.
